I ordered 4 tacos. Duck, lamb, pulled pork and steak. Each one tasted good however the meat in each one was quite tough.

The tacos were pretty good, I prefer Funchos in Riverhead, Lucheritos in Greenport/Aquabogue or Chicos TexMex foodtruck in Shirley. They had interesting taco variations but I like my tacos more traditional & double wrapped. Mesquite was recommended to me by a friend so I hoped it would be amazing. The tacos were decent but nothing to write home about. They have a nice little tequila bar inside with a good happy hour crowd so if you're in the neighborhood it's worth a stop for a drink & a bite. Love the renovation dining room and bar! Warmer environmebt makes you want to stay a while. Still waiting for a happy hour drink specials. My last review was disappointed in tge lack of fillings in specialty tacos and watery crema. Not our experience this time. Empanadas are huge and generously stuffed. And the mexicsn street corn crema was much better this time. Others in my group had tacos and they were better portioned for sure. I'm a local. Will always come here. But i'd love to have a reason to come more often (beautiful new expanded bar BEGS for happy hour) If you sit at the window table area, its a beautiful view of the pond across the way. I was recommended Mesquite Tex-Mex by a park ranger and this is probably one of the best places I have gone to for tacos! Definitely coming back here if I'm ever in the area again. I decided to order their traditional tacos with chicken and steak. The meat was tender and flavorful. It was seasoned to perfection. I decided to sit down and was served with chips and salsa. The salsa was good but the chips were stale. I did go there an hour before closing so I'm not letting that affect my rating. The service was okay and the place is clean. I visit my dad about twice a year and every time we make a trip here. The food is excellent and not typical which is what I enjoy.ingredients are fresh and cooked perfect plus a bit ingenious . Service is half sit down half self serve which I assume keeps costs down but it only has maybe chairs for 30 anyway. This is not a fancy place (it's in the old wading river post office)but it's decorated sort of random Mexican which fits the style.If you want tasty Mexican style food it's very enjoyable in a fairly loud environment this is your place. They also have full bar and my favorite homemade Mexican ice pops). Just isn't the same since the new owners. Tacos are decent but nowhere near as good as they were previously. The bad review is mainly because of the two main guys behind the counter. I think they're father and son? The younger one never thanks you for your business, barely even greets you or anything. Being one of those "anti-cilantro-people," I've avoided Mexican food forever. It's always hiding somewhere and easiest to just skip it altogether. So I was leary when my husband suggested it after attending a private party there - but he had me at "they used to be at La Plage." We went last week. Twice! And brought an out of town guest for lunch too! Your margaritas are fresh and fantastic and the food is absolutely amazing. It's always nice to check out a place that exceeds your expectations. There were 4 in our party. I had a special taco - chorizo fajita taco and pulled pork taco. Everything was fresh. My son had the ribs which was cooked well and just enough bbq sauce. My wife had the burrito bowl with mesquite grilled chicken. Presentation of bowl could have been better than a foil tin. FORGET THE OLD REVIEWS! New owners took over about a year ago. The food before was so-so to poor, and now the food is AMAZING! FANTASTIC! The food is authentic, plentiful, professional, creative, diverse, and nicely priced, and the staff is super friendly! I love this place now. This has to be some of the best Tex-Mex on Long Island. The place is relaxed and unimposing. There is even a little bar for adults (great for dates!), and the owners and staff make kids feel welcome too. It's right across from the Wading River duck pond. I've been there in the past. The food is pretty good for a quick stop. That aside today's experience was a bit different. Went in there for a quick drink not alcoholic because I'm on the clock. It was half lemonade have iced tea. I assume it's about a 16 ounce drink, I was charged over five dollars for it. I won't be back. Money isn't the issue either. There is no way that you should be charging beer prices for soft drinks coronas most places are five dollars. I wish them well and I hope they do good business in the future with whoever decides to frequent the establishment. read more

I used to love their food truck they had in Manorville, now I make the trip out here whenever I'm craving their tacos. Really can't think of anything negative to say. LOCATION: small place, not much seating inside. More of a to-go type place, in my opinion. FOOD: The tacos are about $5 each, but I think it's worth it for the size and quality. The Pulled Pork and Fiery Skirt Steak are my go-to favorites. I recently tried the "Hot and Crunchy" special taco as well and that was great - it was crispy chicken with a flavorful sauce. The food is very good, but they seem to skimp the toppings and meat on their specialty tacos , which is disappointing because they really do have some very good combinations in terms of flavors and toppings. The regular tacos are very good and very filling. Everything is prepared perfectly, though. they don't travel very well, so I don't like to order here from food delivery services for this reason. I have heard so much about this place and knew I needed to make a stop especially since it's only a minute or two from my house. We came in on a Saturday afternoon with some friends and it was super busy! The restaurant itself is not huge by any means, but seemed to fit the crowd well. They run a bunch of specials and have a small menu to match. We ordered a bunch of tacos and a chicken tortilla soup. The soft chicken and pork tacos were good but plain. My husband had a crispy chicken taco which he thought was really good. The real disappointment here was the soup. It was completely flavorless and a total waste of money. I miss the old truck off the LIE. We'd frequent that spot 2-3 times a week. It never grew old so I was incredibly saddened when it shutdown. Mesquite has opened a restaurant located in wading river, which is serving up those same great tacos. We've gotten take-out a few times over the last few weeks. Oddly, the food survives a 20+ minute drive without getting soggy or gross. They package everything perfectly. It's funny cause I get tacos locally and they are falling apart, wet by the time I drive 5 minutes to get home. Definitely check this place out. It started off as a disaster with the Lake Michigan size puddle that leads to their rear parking lot. Probably enough spots for 3-4 cars. Horrible attitudes in this place. Terrible storm coming in so wanted to eat local. Could not have made a better choice. Mesquite has limited hours.... Only open from 4-8 Thursday to Sunday. We ordered a feast.... Started with chips and salsa.... Salsa more solid than liquidy but excellent nonetheless. I got 2 fish tacos, the mango finish really good ... a grilled chicken taco.... Hot sauce was perfect and black beans and rice... only thing not up to par... very dry. My daughter got fish, pulled pork and shrimp taco ....
