I think the food is great. I live walking distance so I never done in but my biggest issue is the menu/prices. I understand things are more expensive now but that needs to be reflected properly in the menu I ordered al pastor sopes, per the menu 3 comes to $11 dollars I also ordered a side of rice and beans, my total was $24 dollars. There's no way rice and beans cost $13 by themselves I'd love to continue giving you my business but I want complete transparency on prices. read more

Authentic, flavorful, fresh Mexican / South American. Complimentary Chips were fine. Bean dip was delicious though not salsa. Fiddled with hot sauces brought to the table while waiting. Green ok.. don't try more than one small dab of the red! Hot hot hot.. Enchiladas Verdes, nicely plated with flavorful rice, beans, and shredded lettuce etc.. Corona, Lime Soda... were all good. Service is very slow, food has to many condiments. Everything is very salty. Their receipts do not line item what you ordered with prices. The lack of an authentic chef and organization will be the ruin of the restaurant.The restaurant is not climate controled so be prepared to sweat or freeze. Those enchiladas were bomb The rice n beans too Sure the chips were a little stale but the food was great and moderately price. I'll definitely be back It seems people either love or hate it but any time I go in and people are ordering in Spanish I'm happy to be there. Go get your Tex-mex crap and stfu about the damn temperature of the restaurant my god- petty much? Haha. Learn to love yourselves and you'll probably enjoy everything a bit more in life. Tacos! In Riverhead? Yess... Main st Riverhead has seen a revitalization over the years, I'm glad to see Taqueria Cielito Lindo bringing the best tacos I had in a while to the east end. Very close to the Aquarium and Tanger Outlets, this is a nice place where you can bring your family for a good meal. The menus are easy to read, the food is fresh, the chips are warm and they have Jarritos soda. I like the grapefruit flavor :) My wife & I walk into a quite restaurant. We're on a taco mission for lunch but something is on the menu that we rarely see, tamales. Picture a corn husk, they stuff it with meats, cheese and corn meal to give you a tasty treat. We order two tamales as well as four tacos. I order a Chorizo & Al Pastor. I find Al Pastor interesting, Lebanese folks who immigrated to Mexico started morphing their heritage into Mexican cusine. Their creation of the Mexican taco al pastor is derived from Middle Eastern shawarma. Well, I don't care who invented Spaghetti. I just know it tastes good in my mothers kitchen. The same with the Al Pastor tacos being served at Taqueria Cielito Lindo. Some pretty legit tacos was served to my wife & I. The tamales, we unwrapped the corn husks and it was a little too mushy for my taste. Not saying it was bad, its something not to cause panic from this non hispanic. Great job Taqueria Cielito Lindo on the authentic tacos. I loved the chips brought to our table with two sauce selections, mild & wild. My wife thought the green, mild sauce still had heat. Best guacamole here! We ordered a few different types of tacos: carne asada, tongue, tripe, chicken, salted beef, and chorizo. Every single one was very flavorful and delicious. I just happened to stumble across this place as I was leaving a brewery across the street. This was like a hole in the wall find. I got chicken tacos and a side of rice. I thought it was all delicious. They brought over salsas and chips for before our food came out. There was this one red salsa that was super spicy and it was so good! I wish I had asked what it was before I left because it was so good! And perfect with chips! It's a small little Mexican place but for me it was fairly authentic and something I'd definitely eat again and the prices were very reasonable! read more

This is probably the worse place that I've eaten in a while. We had fruit flies flying around our heads and food the entire meal. The table next to us was also invaded by them. And it's the dead of winter! When we left the restaurant we use the back door exit giving us a glimpse of how filthy this really was. I was officially grossed out! read more

Out in Riverhead and hungry, I turned to Yelp for something to eat. I came across Bill S's review and suddenly had to have a "legit" taco. This place is in a small strip mall just past the Riverhead aquarium if you are driving east. It's kind of hard to find, so keep your eyes peeled. I ordered a chicken taco and a coke. I would have ordered more but it's CASH ONLY (I didn't know before I arrived) and I only had $5 on me. To my surprise, I found the one taco pretty filling. It totally hit the spot. The taste was clean and flavorful. I was alone and this was a great place to grab a quick bite solo without feeling uncomfortable. There are a lot of chain restaurants near the outlets on 25 in Riverhead. I'm not a fan. I had no idea if you headed over to Main Street, just a little off the beaten path, there are all these great little restaurants, this place included. I will definitely come back, with more cash and my guy. I'm pretty sure he will love this place. The prices are very reasonable, the menu is extensive, and the staff is very friendly. Thanks Bill! Las Mexicanas Tacos was closed so wife and I headed here. Very disappointed. Read good reviews but I sampled 3 tacos: al pastor, carne asada and chorizo. All were very overcooked and dry. Beware: quesadillas are folded over and deep fried! Not much taste to the chicken and cheese filling either. Confused service but that's ok with prices this low. It's good! Been wanting to try this place for its mission style tacos. Yum! Had the steak taco and pork with pineapple. Very good! Love the fresh cilantro and chopped onion on top. The guacamole was ok. Still trying to identity the flavor in it. Price was not bad at $2.50 per taco! So much better than the over cheesed-made-with-no-love Mexican food you get at Funchos (ick!). Possibly one of my least favorite Mexican eateries I ever been to. Located in downtown Riverhead, it's tiny storefront is easy to pass by (and you should). It has a small seating area with no climate control so it was freezing cold. Some complimentary chips were brought to the table but instead of salsa, we got a weird brown gravy with cheese in it. It was really gross. Ordered three tacos, one carnitas and two suadero. Upon arrival, I notice the meats in each look exactly the same. The server took it back to make sure but came back to tell me the order was correct. I think not because both the suadero and carnitas tasted exactly the same, awful. The meat was so dry and flavorless it was hard to swallow and instead of cilantro they used parsley. Cilantro is much more flavorful than parsley. Plus the meat had a weird after taste. I couldn't finish my last taco. Service is a bit indifferent and unwelcoming and luckily tabs are cheap. Definitely skip this place if you're in the area and not recommended at all. read more

Great Authentic Mexican. I have traveled all over Mexico, and can say I finally have tried a great Taco Al pastor with the authentic bits of pineapple, no other place does it like Cielito Lindo. They also have an amazing Sopa Azteca, which consists of Tortilla chips, avocado, chicharron and queso Oaxaca. Highly recommend this place. Family restaurant, food is the real deal. read more

Riverhead is definitely not the most charming town on the Northfork, but it's proving to be quite the foodie haven. It seems to have one standout spot in a surprising number of ethnic cuisines, including this Mexican taqueria. It's in a strip mall geared towards the areas Mexican immigrant community, alongside a bodega, Mexican grocery, and other life necessities. We were the only non-Latinos dining, yet the server was sweet and helpful, despite her limited English and our non-existent Spanish. We ordered enchiladas verdes and chicken mole. The verdes was exceptional. The sauce was fresh and hot and savory, over fresh-griddled corn tortilla filled with roasted chicken. Beautiful red beans and rice accompanying Mole was less successful. Perhaps a bottled sauce, or at least some shortcuts, so overly sweet and no real depth of spicing. But everything else on the plate was the same excellence as the enchiladas Most tables were sharing large plates of assorted tostadas and sopes and tacos, with fresh fruit drinks. Guacamole was fresh. That's the best thing I can say about this place. Even though it was fresh, it was bland. It was like eating an avocado with a stale chip (yes chips tasted stale). I got the chicken burrito and the chicken was extremely dry and overall it was super bland. I have had mexican and authentic mexican, this just does not serve mexican food justice. We came here out of desperation of needing a cheap quick meal and we certainly found it. I won't be back, nor would I recommend this hole in the wall. read more

Outstanding authentic Mexican food! Not your typical Americanized Mexican drowned in cheese. Absolutely delicious fresh house-made sauces. A tiny storefront place, perfect for casual lunch. We tried the tostadas (chicken), sopes (shredded beef), and a sandwich with chorizo, all of which were excellent. If you like things spicy, the red sauce will be sure to please!
