Last Fall I had this experience at Senor Taco in Wading River.... I used to go regularly there but the last two times it was not very good and the prices they quoted me were then almost doubled when the bill came! The tacos were smaller with less filling than usual, and the guac and salsa were very stringy. The waitress told me they had a special lunch pricing for tacos of any kind. I asked her if two specific tacos they showed were included in that lunch special, she replied "Yes they are". Besides the aforementioned quality issues with the food, when the bill came the price was more than 50% higher than the special was priced at. I asked the waitress why. She said those two tacos were not included. I said to her, "You told me they were!?" She repeated "No they weren't" and she called someone from behind the counter over to the table. The situation was explained, the other person repeated "Sorry sir, they are not included" and didn't care that their waitress said they were (the waitress admitted she said that!) and they charged me full price despite the misinformation they gave me. No apology, no doing the right thing, nothing. I paid the bill, left, and have not been back. In summation: The food was so-so. The service was not good. The attitude was poor. I have been here once before and the food was good.. but today.. honestly the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I hate to say that.. but I paid $38 .. for what looked like two lunch-able version of a single taco with a side of rice.. that someone just threw a cold tortilla, a few cubes of chicken, rice and tasteless beans in a tray with zero spice, cooking, effort or recipe... also .. do they not know the difference between an enchilada and a taco? Ample parking, cozy dining area. Picked up an order of Chicken Tacos, a Shrimp Quesadilla, and a cup of Chili con carne. Chili was decent. Quesadilla was good, just needed a little more meat. Chicken tacos were a tad dry. Chalking it up to it being a busy Summer Sunday night. We were coming back from the Outlets in Riverhead so we decided to stop in for lunch. We ordered chicken wings and entrees. We got the entrees long before we got the chicken wings. The waitress was nice enough to ask if we wanted to cancel the wings. We finally got wings as we were leaving. The Good - the waitress was very nice and accommodating. The ambiance was nice. The food was very good!! Prices were reasonable. The Bad - Waiting until we were leaving to serve us the wings - I have to knock off a star for that. The wings should have been there before the entrees. The Ugly - nothing really ugly - just keep in mind the place is small. We ordered two fajita platters- chicken steak shrimp combos. Steak provided were small tidbits ; chicken was a little more ample. A few shrimp. Peppers and onions seemed to outweigh the meats. Senior taco wading river has really gone down in quality. There's no love in the food. Havent been Here in a while well over a year I ve been going to mesquite in wading river. . I went there for dinner with my wife. She ordered the birria quesadilla, and I had the steak quesadilla. Her quesadilla was good, but be aware that they serve a very small amount of birria consommé, and asking for an extra portion will cost you an additional $2.10. Unfortunately, my steak quesadilla was quite disappointing -- there was barely any steak in it, which made it feel more like a cheese quesadilla. What really ruined the experience, though, was the service. Despite the restaurant not being busy, we had to ask for everything -- silverware, napkins, even basic attention -- and it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff by doing so. To top it off, the bill came with a 20% gratuity automatically added, which felt unreasonable given the poor service. Overall, very disappointed with this place and wouldn't recommend it. read more

My boyfriend had called ahead to ensure there were outside tables where I can bring my service dog as we wanted to sit outside on a cool fall day. The man we spoke to said sure no problem, that they had tables outside. We then drove 30 minutes out of our way and upon our arrival I approached the tables outside with my service pup while my boyfriend had gone inside to get menus. A young woman came outside and said that we couldn't sit outside with my dog and that dogs weren't allowed outside, she then proceeded to take our menus. I did not feel like arguing with her but stated he is a service dog. That being said, he should've been allowed indoors or outdoors being that it is ILLEGAL to refuse service, let alone at an outdoor table. Will not being coming back to this location. read more

The place feels like it needs a cleaning, the food...quesadilla was straight out of my freshman dorm, with a side of sour cream in a small plastic container. I want to love this place. Close to home. Pacifico beer in the bottle. My issue is that I've ordered birria tacos 5 times and they were made 5 different ways. Including now, as I write this review. I'm sitting at the bar, and I ordered one. And it was good. 2nd best I've had here. So I got another one. And it tastes different. Spicier. Not complaining about the spice, but it should taste the same every time. I expected to have the same taco I just ordered 10 minutes earlier and yet it's different. My husband and I been going here for years. Food is great BUT we get great tortilla chips at beginning, however the salsa they give only 1 and its in a small container to dip and the chip doesn't even fit in! If you like hot sauce.. only 1 choice (cholula)that's not bad but it's not that hot. They use to have tapatio which was a better sauce with more of a kick. We also feel we don't get enough napkins and always have to ask. I do recommend this place but I really hope what I mentioned gets changed. read more

Just when I thought customer service was becoming a priority at restaurants these days because of my string of good luck with waiters/waitresses here comes along Senor Taco. I won't rail on the food because it wasn't the worst, which isn't saying much, but when the service is terrible it basically ruins the rest of the dining experience. My wife and I came in for dinner on a Tuesday evening and we didn't really have much expectations. We just needed a quick dinner prior to an engagement we had in the neighborhood. We arrived at about 5:45pm and stood for a few seconds before someone informed us to just take a seat. This became a recurring theme as I witnessed customer after customer stand at the entrance waiting to be greeted and seated. We went through the menu and it was pretty typical of Mexican restaurants - taco bowls, burritos, tacos, Mexican-style entrees, etc. My wife ordered a shrimp taco and beef empanadas and I ordered a chicken enchilada entree. In addition, we also asked for a soda and water, which was key because you'd think the drinks would arrive within minutes, but nope. Not only did our waitress forget the drinks, but after I informed 2 of the other waitresses behind the counter about the forgotten drinks, it took another 6-8 minutes for it to arrive, even though they weren't busy. We received no apology as one of the other waitresses just plopped the beverages onto our table. As for the food, it came quickly, before the drinks arrived of course. The chicken enchilada entree was a bit disappointing, as first of all, it was served in an aluminum tray and wasn't that big of an order. The enchiladas were buried at the bottom below the rice. From a flavor perspective, it was all OK, trending towards below OK. For $11, it was far from worth it. For my wife's shrimp taco, it was bare. There wasn't really anything else in the taco ... except shrimp, so it felt like it was lacking. The one winner were the empanadas as they were plump and filled with beef. I have to admit that they were well-cooked and well-made empanadas. At the end of our meal, we requested for the check, which took another 5 minutes to arrive. After presenting our credit card and receiving the bill back, one of the waitresses just plopped it on our table and ran off to serve other customers. No "have a nice day", "hope you enjoyed a meal". She just placed it on our table and literally turned around without saying a word. We got up and left immediately after signing the bill and, would you expect anything less, but not one waitress said goodbye to us. I don't think I need to describe our experience here any more that what I wrote. Enough said. read more

I love the empanada trio, but it's annoying that you have to get 3 of the same flavor. Why can't you just throw in one of each for some variety? Same effort to cook. With all due respect; rude owner, unprofessional unfriendly staff, bad vibes, miserable faces, and store bought guac is better then what they had. Story: it's cinco de mayo, we patiently gracefully waited for food, I noticed my guac looked too pasty and very green and it didn't taste like anything put some sketchy paste. Not like fresh guac with any flavors, also lacked onion and pepper which is all it had and I'd say a teaspoon serving of it being super finely chopped. I went to a staff who turned out to be the owner,I said I'm disappointed because it tastes not at all real or fresh and ofc he said it is and that no one else has complained therefore it must be me, and I agreed because what a bad move as an owner. He later proceeded to ask others around the restaurant next to our table how their food was and ofc I found this spiteful. I'm not saying don't go there and I love senior taco, this place seemed unprofessional and to me had sketchy food and service based also on lack of manners from the staff that served and communicated with us. It's colorful, cheerful and they play salsa- which was a nice surprise. 4 stars on the food -except shrimp taco loved the sauces and tortillas- very nice flavors. 2 stars on my my shrimp taco- the beautiful, plump Baja shrimp were overcooked I the fryer by about a minute I'd say... dark and too firm. 2 stars on the plastic cutlery .
