We went here today for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. We have eaten here before but it was about six years ago. There were just the two of us. She ordered filet mignon and I ordered fried catfish. Her filet was OK. It was cooked just right. Her plate also came with baked potato and roasted veggies on a skewer. The potato was good but the veggies were bland and not roasted very well. One of the pieces was the top with the skewer sticking through the stem. My catfish plate came with fries, coleslaw and a skewer of grilled shrimp. Everything was great except the coleslaw. It was kinda bland tasting and dry. I can recommend this place because our service was courteous, fast and the food was fresh and hot. read more

I had the sliced brisket and the food for me was basic barbecue nothing stood out that would make me want to go only here to get a certain dish. Came here while traveling base on Yelp review. We were there on Friday night so there was an expected wait. The waitress was great and the food was timely. My so. Had the 1 inch ribeye that was mouthwatering. Top 3 steaks in my experiences. I had the brisket. This is what TX is famous for. It was a big disappointment. Dry and chewy. Needed extra tea to get it down. The grilled asparagus and fried okra sides were good. The cole slaw was average. Finally the sweet tea needed more sugar. If I came here again I would go with the steak. $34 is a great price do a piece of meat that big. read more

Rustic local favorite in Weatherford. Eaten here many times and is always good. Good for just you and your honey or for larger groups. Steaks always prepared just right. The bacon wrapped filet is very tender and great taste. I like the Poblano Cheese Grits with my meals. Have had the ribs and brisket, can't go wrong there if feel like bbq. This was such a great dinner! Down in Mesquite visiting my brother and they took us out here. The decor is awesome and homey. I loved the cabin-esque look of it all. The service was great! We didn't wait long for a party of 6 at about 4:30pm. My sweet tea was never empty. Now down to the food: The armadillo eggs were amazing! The ribs and sausage were outstanding especially the sausage. It was rich and peppery and it had a good snap. The only eh thing on the plate was the brisket. It was tender and well cooked, but the flavor was just not there. It tasted more like a dry pot roast than brisket. The barbecue sauce on the side was AMAZING. I absolutely love that they serve the sauce on the side everywhere I have been in Texas. We can't wait to come back! read more

It's okay, nothing special and the wait staff is not friendly but that seems par for the course in these parts.

Only bad thing I can mention is the lines and waiting. First time here. Food was excellent and plentiful. In house aged steak was perfectly cooked. Pit cooked ham was flavorful and moist. No complaints about the sides selection or quality. We'll definitely be returning. read more

We just finished our dining experience this evening... It was our anniversary dinner. We've always had a very pleasant time and fabulous meal anytime visiting there. However, tonight we almost turned and left. When we arrive the parking lot was heavily packed so we called to see what the wait time would be before we got out... Or should we go elsewhere? One of the front cashiers answered the phone and was so rude to us telling us she was way too busy to find out what the wait time was. We knew their host stand was maybe 6 feet away from her and she could've easily asked a crossed to her to give us an estimate. We wouldn't have held her to it, of course, but it would've been nice to give us a suggestion as to what to expect. She was completely rude and said there's no way she could help us. We almost drove off and went to another restaurant. But the sign on the front said "immediate seating" available. So we risked it and went inside. The hostess was more than friendly, and told us may be a 10 minute wait... You could see there were very few ahead of us...that was very reasonable and acceptable so we sat to wait. She actually got us in there at a table in maybe five minutes. Absolutely no complaints there and she was very friendly. Our waitress was lovely and handled everything in detail. It was our anniversary dinner of celebration. Upon check out there were two cashiers. Since we had no idea which one we've spoken with... We just waited our time in line. One of the cashiers was very friendly and asking everyone if they enjoyed their meals and have a nice time. Then we stepped up to the next one available and immediately heard her voice and knew it was the one who answered the phone. She had zero eye contact, and never said anything to us but the amount of the check. It was very uncomfortable. We paid and left quickly. So I highly praise their meals and the other staff has been fantastic as well. In case you ever happen to get that person, unwilling to even give you a guesstimation of what time your wait time may be... Disregard her and go on inside. Because they almost lost our business tonight. We hated to punish a good establishment or other quality staff due to one sour apple. read more

The one star is for the CFS...look at pictures it's small. Got there at 11:00 for lunch no crowd. It was chewy and tasted old. Had fried okra which came out hot and good. Had Onion Rings which was fantastic . Lauren was waitress and was excellent. Tea nice and cold....first time here. The ambiance is old but ok. I will come back for the Steak Brisket and try them out.
