I scheduled this service based on the online review to make sure I get the best service. Based on my experience, their service is below average and the price is way too expensive. I did research after the fact, and for most of case, either the price is half for the same minimum two hour service or 4 crew members are working for the equivalent price. I have had 3 different teams clean my home a few months ago and every single one of them did a horrible and sloppy job they were unprofessional and careless in my home and didn't listen to special instructions I had for them. I hired Merry Maids from Escondido and I was extremely disappointed! I requested my condo cleaned and there was a major lack of attention to detail. My stove and vent hood was left uncleaned. There was dirt on top of my refrigerator and they did not clean cook top. There where cob webs in the kitchen corners, window pains were dirty, water stains in the dish washer. Tile was not swept underneath the refrigerator. I don't know what they did for 3 hours but it didn't look cleaned. There was also a discrepancy in the time charged. I had to call and argue to get charged the correct amount. After seeing what I found I don't feel I should have been charged at. read more

Borderline 1 star but they did an okay cleaning so I'll give them 2. I felt like everything was robotic. The lady came over to give me an estimate and quoted me for a one time cleaning. They charge $96 per hour for 2 people. She estimated that it would take 2-3 hours. The cleaning itself went okay. The two ladies showed up promptly and started work immediately. They didn't talk and were like machines which in a good way got my stuff clean but in a bad way, they were a bit rough with things and were not thorough in the least bit. I wouldn't be surprised if some things got scratched but luckily I don't have nice furniture and have 2 young boys in the house. Some corners were majorly cut: 1) Stairwell light fixture was dusted on the outside but inside was not. 2) Stair bannister wasnt wiped down completely 3) None of the baseboards were cleaned. They also forgot to clean one of the blinds in my dining room. I told them they forgot and they cleaned it immediately but apparently they cleaned it right after they cleaned the window because there was streak marks left on that window. Im really not a picky person but the two ladies that cleaned were NOT the best. The biggest issue I have is the price. The maids took exactly 2-1/2 hours but charged me for 3. As a customer I feel ripped off for basically not getting the last half worth of cleaning. Especially when some things were left unclean. Granted, those things left unclean might not be a part of the routine cleaning but for an extra half hour which I paid for anyways, they could of cleaned other things to my request. So at the end of the day, I have a fairly clean house but really paid $115.20 a hour to get it that way. Im not really happy with that and don't see myself using this company ever again. UPDATE: They do have good customer service. A representative called me to see how well my cleaning went. I told her what happened and she apologized and refunded me the last half hour they didn't clean for. She also informed me that all the work was guaranteed and if I wanted I could get another crew out to my house to clean the things left unclean. I must say, I was definitely impressed with this company. I used to have a regular housemaid back in the day, but found out she was stealing some of my things, so I was forced to get rid of her. I was hesitant to hire another independent housecleaner because I would have to go through all the trouble of background checks, check references, etc. So, when I moved out of my condo I thought I would go ahead and call Merry Maids. There scheduling service was awesome! Called me right away and showed up on time. I let them clean the house when I wasn't there (I had errands to run) and I was VERY impressed when I returned home. They got places I thought they would miss including: picture frames, inside of the oven, and even the refrigerator. Definitely exceeded my expectations! I have tried various cleaning companies and I choose to stay with Merry Maids for bi-weekly cleaning. Comparing to the other companies, the team from Merry Maids are real professionals. I think I have a little OCD but I am very satisfied with my regular team led by Silvia. (In the beginning, I didn't know I could request a particular team as the regular team. I am very happy when I find out I can. I am satisfied with other teams too, so no worries if you get a different team. I like Silvia because she really knows my house.) I have been with Merry Maid for a little over an year now. I give the keys to the company so I don't need to be home when they come. I appreciate that even though I am not home anyway, they are always on-time, or they would let me know if there are delays. I trust the integrity of this team and the company - there was a time that I found a note on the counter when I got home - it said that a glass cup was broken, and stated the procedure for me to request for compensation. Honestly, I have a lot of glass cups that I probably wouldn't notice at all without the note. I didn't really care about the glass cup, but I was curious. I remembered my friend's story about arguing back and forth with the other cleaning companies. I emailed the customer service. They just asked me for an estimate price, and they deducted that directly from the bill. No hassle at all. Last but not least, I appreciate the fact that I can easily reach them through emails. I have a very busy schedule that I don't really have the time to speak on the phone (or... wait on the phone... ). Email is a lot easier for me. It's a real blessing. read more

5 Stars for sure. Our Townhouse was cleaner than when we moved in when they got done. We called them the Wednesday before Christmas. Someone came out to quote us that same day and the cleaning was done next day. Insured, Bonded, workers were dressed professionally and spoke english. Sure, you'll pay a bit more for them, but we signed up for a 1 yr contract and its really reasonable. Tory and Sal come out to my house biweekly and always do a great job. They are very professional and personable. I really appreciate all of their help and willingness to do certain rooms in the order that I request depending on whether my daughter is taking a nap in a certain room or not. I have a HUGE house at the moment, and they are able to get it done in two hours, maybe a little over depending on exactly which rooms we need done and what we need done in them. My house wouldn't look as nice as it does without them, and I truly appreciate them and Merry Maids for helping me out! Having four dogs with all of the hair makes it hard to keep things in tiptop shape, but when they are finished with it I feel like the whole house is refreshed and I can finally breathe! I called MM to clean a friend's house as a surprise gift. These two ladies cleaned and spit shined that place better than seven dwarfs, three fairy godmothers and any wizard named Merlin ever could! They were simply magical, professional, kind, attentive, hard working and detailed! They even made the toilet tissue look nicer! (go figure!!!) What was cleaned was cleaned well (5 stars for that work) but not all the cleaning that should have been included was performed. I hired them to clean a rental house that was vacant and they ensured me that the blinds, window tracks, and the refrigerator (although I did pay $30 more to have this cleaned) were to be cleaned. Well, they were not. I contacted the company to let them know that these areas, which were quoted to me, were not cleaned and I heard nothing back. So after spending $566 on the cleaning fee (expensive but if the job was well done I wouldn't have minded), I had to go over and spend another two hours cleaning my house to get ready for renters. I was happy with the first few cleanings. I requested a particular cleaning crew that I thought did a good job and then signed up for their bi-monthly service. Once I was signed up they spent less time at my house and I felt that the cleaning quality suffered. I was paying for 3 hours and they would always leave after 2 1/2. I felt that for the price I was paying I was receiving minimum effort. The good thing is that they seem to have decent customer service. It is easy to contact someone and they are polite and seem willing to resolve the issues. I talked to them several times but I finally felt that it wasn't worth the money or effort. I've tried a few maid services. Merry Maids always showed up as scheduled and showed up on time. There was minimal damage to my property. They were very apologetic about a piece of furniture that was scratched, (luckily it buffed out). My main issue issue with their service is the quality I received for the price. read more

So sorry to have to write a negative review. I was very much looking forward to having Merry Maids do a move-out cleaning for me. I spoke to a lovely lady (I will not specify her name) on the phone yesterday and we agreed to meet today so that she could give me an estimate for the work. However, she simply "forgot" to record our appointment and didn't show up, so when I called to find out if she was on her way, there was no record of our meeting. I had arranged my day around this as I no longer live at the location where we were supposed to meet. I'm disappointed that my business (and possible future referrals) wasn't important enough for this company to even attempt to keep me as a client. I hired MM to clean my apartment on a bi-weekly basis, and at first they were great. The $83/cleaning fee was reasonable for my 900 sqft apartment, and the maid showed up at the expected time, cleaned thoroughly, and preformed as advertised. As time wore on, the service became shoddy and they would just wipe down a few countertops and then leave after 30 minutes. I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth, and called to complain once then cancelled the service after the substandard performance persisted. I give two stars because MM will likely do well in a one-time cleaning and should be considered for that kind of work, but I would caution you against hiring them on a continuing basis because the quality of their work will fall off once they know they can show up for 30 minutes and collect the fee. read more

I called on Sunday and got an answering service - Imagine that, a maid service with its own answering service! The dispatcher called me back on Monday morning at the time I had requested. She was professional and thorough, asked pertinent questions and gave an accurate estimate of the time required. She explained our options clearly. Merry Maids did not meet my expectations. I ordered a one-time deep clean with a focus on baseboards and blinds and I got a top clean. It was suspicious to me that only one person showed up and it took two hours to deep clean an 1100 square foot place. When I walked in it smelled clean and I could see the dusting and vacuuming was done. As I walked through the place, I saw a small stain on the kitchen counter near the coffee pot, wet a cloth, and with a little pressure removed it, so that told me no elbow grease was used. The kitchen and bathroom faucets got a wipe not a cleaning as there was still lime and water stains and I expected them to shine. The blinds still have dust on them. The outside of the bathtub in the master bath was not wiped and the baseboard was still dusty with a small spider web left untouched. I could go on but I think you have the idea. read more

However, I just had my house cleaned by Tory and Salvador and it was exceptional! They paid close attention to detail that you could truly notice! They cleaned inside and outside of furniture, lifting and wiping all pictures and decor. The house definitely met my high OCD standards! I called a couple of places to get a feel for how much it was going to cost to clean my entire house to get it ready for it to be listed for sale. Merry Maids was able to send someone out the same day for a walk through estimate. Nice #1. Zelma came out and was very delightful and very professional. She took notes on her tablet PC on what needed to be done as we walked through the house. She asked the right questions and after 20 minutes or so, I had a full quote in front of me and emailed to me almost simultaneously. Nice #2. Fast forward 48 hours when the two cleaners came out. Please forgive me, but I am drawing a blank on the girl's name. I am almost certain it was Kat. I am positive though, that the guy's name was Cody. Nora and Leticia were magnificant and if I could give them 30 stars I would. This is the first time I have ever had a cleaning crew in and it was a great experience. The only hiccup was with the timing, the consultant originally quoted 1pm to 3pm and I told them, due to some circumstances with my elderly mother, that it was too late in the day; she changed the time to 11am to 1pm which was perfect however when the scheduler called the evening before and said the crew would be there between 1 and 3 I told her no, that is not what I agreed to, it needed to be between 11 and 1 or earlier she said she couldn't do that so I called the main office and someone called me back and was able to arrange to have the crew change times on housed so it worked out fine; the office was very accommodating. I would make sure they stick to the time they quoted. I will definitely be using Nora and Leticia again. read more

Some years ago, I decided to switch to Merry Maids. Before that, I had a series of maids who stayed much longer and did less. Sometimes, of necessity or for who knows what reason, they suddenly left town or couldn't come when I really needed them. I had to worry about the quality of the work and hire and fire and deal with all sorts of problems. I have lots of other responsibilities, and I truly dislike all of that. Now Merry Maids does it all for me. This particular Merry Maids has been absolutely reliable. If my regular team can't come, they send a replacement team that only has to consult their book to see any special requests or ways that I want particular things done. During the first few years, 10 % of the time a quality control person came to the house unannounced to check on the quality of the cleaning. Now I just call the office and let them know if I have any concerns, but they have never sent anyone during these past 11 years who I was not happy to have in my house. In only one instance in all these years have I asked to have a different team, and the very next week a new team arrived. They bring their own vacuum and cleaning supplies, and vacuum and clean a large house with five bathrooms in two hours. Each time they come they clean the entire house and deep clean one room. Over the years I have had an occasional team that has gone too lightly over the room that is supposed to be deep cleaned, but that has always been corrected. At least once a year the owner calls to see if everything is going well, and I also receive regular calls from the office. Right now I'm very fortunate to have Bethany and Shariesse, who are really wonderful, and one of the two best teams I've ever had in all these years. They are positive, conscientious young women, and my house always looks beautiful when they leave. I'm no longer young. As we get even older I'm planning to have Merry Maids come weekly instead of bi-weekly to do the laundry, make the beds, and do a few other things that I may find difficult by then. By using Merry Maids when I'm older, I won't risk selecting the wrong person and the complications that may go with that. In short, nothing is perfect, but Merry Maids has been a very good fit for our family. One thing about this business is that cleaning houses isn't easy, and there is a lot of turnover in cleaning teams. So, I end up losing a team I know and trust from time to time, and that is where selection and training count. I really appreciate how reliable and quality conscious Merry Maids has been. I believe that is a reflection of the care put into the company by the owner and the office staff. My husband just read this over and said it was simply too positive. I just can't think of any more negatives to throw in because I'm so happy not to have to worry about all this stuff when I have such long to do lists and so many other responsibilities. read more

The sales representative was very nice and so were the maids. However, we went over very specific items with the sales rep who stated they specified it in the order. I was moving into a filthy apartment and needed it cleaned to move in. I also advised them that I had recent surgery and my immune system was supressed, therefore I needed it cleaned properly. I pointed out the greasy over, told them the glass top required glass top cleaner. Advised the cabinets needed cleaning inside and out. Cabinets were not cleanted inside. The floors in the livingroom were not mopped. I had to run to buy glasstop cleaner because they were ill prepared. I was then told oh we do not have oven cleaner but it does not look all that bad. I responded that I did not need to have a grease fire. They then used regular degreaser. I specific told the girls that the inside of the microwave had hair in it. It was still there after the left. I was actually going to hire them to come on a regular basis when I saw this mess I called and cancelled future appointments. read more

I have used Merry Maids every two weeks for over 20 years. Pluses are many: They use their own products which are much better than anything you can buy. They use their own vacuum...much more serious than mine! They are friendly and have NEVER acted unprofessionally. They are totally responsive to your needs. If you think they are not taking care of some area, tell them! If you think they need a more thorough job, tell them. I have found they will do whatever you ask. I have had many different teams throughout the years and they all are well trained. They come with two or three people...one always speaks English. Sometimes they will take more time than others depending on how dirty/messy your house is. Their price is not cheap but it is totally worth it to me. I am forced to pick up the house twice a month which helps in overall clutter. The house is company ready after their cleaning. I have also used them for parties with one or two gals helping serve and clean up. They have always been good with guests and it was a very professional service. I recommend Merry Maids to all my friends. They will come out and give you an estimate. You tell them what you want cleaned and any special needs and the estimate is based on that. read more

We are definitely happy with Merry Maids' customer service and commitment to customer satisfaction. Most of the cleaning crews do a pretty good job of cleaning, however if they miss something, the company is very prompt to make things right. Service Manager Kristy is a pleasure to work with and she personally ensures that the customer is satisfied. After trying out a couple of crews and finding their work to be "just okay", we discovered Michele and Carly today, wow what a difference the right team makes! These two ladies rock! They are incredibly diligent, work extremely hard, pay attention to detail, are very enthusiastic and truly show a sense of pride in the work that they do.
