We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

You will not believe it is complimentary as a Hotel V guest. A big factor in deciding to book with Hotel V was their breakfast service. It is à la carte style. As you enter, you are warmly received and brought to a candlelit table. You choose your hot drink, juice, main, and choice of sweets. Thankfully I was able to explore the breakfast menu and bring recommendations: Hot drink: cannot go wrong with any choice. Craftful latte, excellent full-body espresso, milk foamed to perfection. Juice: order the freshly pressed orange juice. Main: totally blown away by the eggs Florentine and eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce is the best I've tasted. Also recommend the bacon, scrambled eggs, and toast. Eggs are fluffy and a little runny - just like how Chef Ramsay makes them! I'm from Canada and their bacon is unlike anything I've ever had. Salty, a little tougher, satisfying. Lastly, order the English breakfast and you'll feel fueled for a long day of tourist duties. Sweets: do yourself favor and trust me when I say, order the french toast. Unreal. After you try the french toast, order the pancakes. Blueberry or banana and bacon. Trust me on this one!

I enjoyed all of the dishes we were served. Fresh and nicely seasoned. Not overly salty or heavy. Portions were just right and I left feeling stuffed even with the 3 course option. Dinner was at a relaxed and unrushed pace. We spent 2 hours here and were the first ones to leave. Clearly people enjoy eating and spending time here!

Even though the menu is a surprise, they accommodate food allergies. Our server explained the process of dinner as well as each dish very well. As someone who loves to cook, I liked hearing about how some of the dishes were prepared. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was intimate and rustic with brick walls, candlelight, and wood. The open kitchen was a delight to watch - they were hustling, but calm and quiet. We ate early on a weeknight which was also nice. It's fine Dutch dining but in a casual atmosphere. Food: The food was very tasty with options for a 3, 4, or 5 course dinner. We opted for 5 course and there were also upgrades like wine pairings and a cheese plate dessert instead of the preset dessert. The menu had a range of meat and veggies, but they also offered a full vegetarian menu too. The two plates that stood out was the venison dish which was cooked perfectly, as well as the unique dessert - the cherries and Thai basil oil with vanilla ice cream paired really well with my ruby port. We were a party of 4 vacationing from the USA. Bathrooms were clean, service was delightful, and it was well worth getting out of city center for a nice dinner!

Came here with a group of colleagues, as Jacobsz had been recommended. The restaurant was quite spacious, and there were not many diners on the Tuesday night of our visit (later found out there was a big football match). The service was exceedingly professional, despite a very laid back look. Very friendly and also extremely knowledgeable, and our waiter helped a lot with dish selection and explanation. We all ordered the four course option. Looking at the menu I had my doubts about enjoying the meal, but I was wrong. Again, dishes are listed as the four or so main ingredients in the dish, with no other descriptors. I ordered the Yellowfin Tuna starter, Iberico Presa as the "Between", Gnocchi as my main course, and the cheese. Wow. The tuna was rare and cut into ceviche-sized pieces, paired with other ingredients and served on a sort of tomato broth base. It was fresh and delicious. Everything worked so well together (theme of all the dishes). Others in my group had either the cauliflower or duck confit, and all thought those were wonderful as well. The Iberico Presa was a slow cooked cut of pork, and it was maybe the slightly lower point in the meal, as the pork was not as tender as I would have preferred. The rich sauce and onion really complimented the pork, though. My main was the Gnocchi, and it looked unlike any I've ever seen. In fact, when the dish was set down I could not tell that it was Gnocchi, as the gnocchi itself was covered with a crunchy...something! Not sure what it was, but again everything was delicious! The Gnocchi were plated with red chicory, and also had garlic and puntarelle. A wonderful dish. A perfect cheese plate to finish our fabulous meal. We all talked about this place. A culinary gem in Amsterdam.

Jacobz is a top-knotch high service restaurant that brings more then decent cuisine at moderate prices. Staff was very attentative and flexible, budt most of all relaxed and non-intrusive. We had a three course meal with some quick bites upfront; all of which were of a very good quality (maybe not Michelin-star, but cutting it close). The wine list features a very broad combination of classics and new world surprises. Interior design is very spacious for Amsterdam standards (ambitious, one might say), but it certainly lives up to what it appeare to be. Will definetely be back; often. And that's not only just because I live nearby.

The amouse bouches before the main courses were fantastic, ranging from the tapioca chip with celery dip which was A+, the couple of vegetarian wraps, the hot seared scallop add-on, the broth, along with the sourdough bread with mushroom infused whipped butter. Each of the courses were meticulously presented and the flavors were all top notch. Loved the light meats, including the perfectly cooked fish course. We ended up spending three hours there -- not because it dragged, but because everything about the place invites lingering: the atmosphere, the light, the relaxed pace, the food, and just being together. The tables are well spaced (so you don't feel crowded), and the whole setting feels like a breath of fresh air compared to typical city restaurants.
