Tucked away in the park, De Kas boasts "harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon" on their website. It's truly a farm to table experience, where you walk into the restaurant through their greenhouse (and you can walk through it as well). We did the 6 course menu, but there was a starter soup and bread so more around 9ish? It was a long meal, being over 3 hours so the timing was a little slow between courses. To start, the cold clarified tomato soup was incredible! I still think about that soup often. It doesn't looks like much but it was packed with flavor and so refreshing for summer. The spreads for the bread and crisps were veggie based, and nicely spreadable. The rest of the courses were beautifully plated with editable flowers and herb garnishes. Some better than others, but everything more earthy taste, not heavy at all. Desserts were not my favorite, on the tangy side, but the sherbet still refreshing. My only comment is to make sure you're explicitly asking questions and clarifications. Could just be us not as accustomed to Euro culture so it's always good to check. Celebrating my bachelorette and the server goes 'can we get you a glass of champagne which I say yes obviously! I assumed it was complimentary but then she opened up a bottle and starting pouring for everyone but some were pregnant, some not drinking, so it seemed a bit off and we had to explain we didn't want the bottle, which made them act a little off putting. The price or the kind of champagne wasn't discussed before opening it so that was a weird miscommunication start to the meal. We had to explicitly ask these questions to our server.

De Kas was ok but disappointing given its one Michelin star. The service had a few missteps and the food had some interesting and tasty parts, but also reused some flavors and ingredients and didn't include a proper meat course. It wasn't on the level of other one Michelin star restaurants I've visited, but I also think it was a bit cheaper than some, so that helps. To drink, we had two cocktails (12.50€) and eight half-glass wine pairings between use (48€ total). The Dutch Negroni seemed like a regular negroni, but the 5 Spice Orange Sour stood out as a very tasty take on the sour. Wine was fine; I'm not one to judge wine. We had the five course dinner menu (84€ per person). They didn't give us a printed menu at the end, so I'm not 100% sure what all the courses were. Our first course was a large tapioca chip with celery puree dip. I don't usually like celery, but I liked this course a lot. It was one of my favorite of the night. (doesn't reflect well on the restaurant when my favorite course was the chip and dip...) Then we had two small snacks: a veggie and mayo bite in a crispy shell, and flat beans with dressing. These were fine. The flat beans didn't pick up the dressing well and were kind of messy to eat with your hands. We didn't like this part. The next course was also a seafood and mayo course which tasted a lot like the earlier bite. Lame. Then we had a chilled beet soup (very vinegary) and another beet course after that. Again, it felt like they were reusing ingredients and flavors. Then a squid course, which was pretty good. We expected a meat course next, as is common, but instead it was a course with truffle, Jerusalem artichoke, and mushroom (no meat). This would have been a good appetizer but it was an inappropriate main course. We also had a dark sourdough bread with mushroom butter (tasted like regular butter to me). We each got a different dessert. Both had some ice cream elements but I forget the details. They were fine. Service was okay. Our server did not give us a very good introduction to the menu or restaurant, so we had to ask a lot of questions about how the courses and pairing would work. I overheard other tables get more details from their servers. Staff also didn't talk at all about the restaurant's greenhouse where they grow some of the food. That was a big selling point to go here, but they didn't mention it at all. I also would have liked a printed menu at the end. We were celebrating a special occasion and they acknowledged this with a small extra dessert (one scoop of chocolate ice cream) and a take-home gift of a small jar of honey. The dining room itself is very pretty. It is tall and airy, with nice views of the park outside, plus greenery inside.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely ambience as the dining area is in a huge greenhouse. It was bright inside even though it was raining like crazy outside. It was fun to walkthrough the smaller attached greenhouse area where they were growing herbs and tomatoes that we saw on our plates later. I also liked that the tables had generous spacing in between so you don't feel like you're cramped up against your neighbors. De Kas was pretty booked up but luckily there were some last minute cancellations and I was able to make a reservation for lunch. You can choose between 3, 4, or 5 courses. Pricing was pretty reasonable for lunch especially since there's a lot of extras such as the bread, amuse bouche, and dessert. As someone who drinks a ton of water, I also appreciated the unlimited table water option for ~3.50 euro per person. The dishes were so-so. Some highlights for me included the oyster and the fried peppers. I found the soup to be salty and their version of pani puri kind of basic in taste. The pacing was also off. We felt rushed in the beginning with the starters and the first course and then everything else after that was a bit slow. Servers were speed walking from place to place, which is great for efficiency but created a panicked feel for diners. It felt more like eating in an American environment rather than the chill, relaxed atmosphere I've come to expect here. All in, it was still a decent dining experience at De Kas but with all the other local, unique restaurants in Amsterdam, I probably won't be back.

I came here for lunch and was immediately impressed by the beautiful greenhouse interior. However, I felt that the rest of my experience was just OK given the restaurant's status. I felt that the pacing of the dishes was a bit rushed at some points and then too far apart at other times. Sometimes it was difficult to hear the servers announce the dishes, especially in a large "open" space. It would've been helpful to have a menu card on the table. The food itself was fine. I appreciated the quality and freshness of the ingredients, but didn't feel like the flavors were anything extraordinary. I had a difficult time with the tomato water dish, which tasted like pure vinegar and too acidic for my liking. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience, but I also didn't feel like De Kas lived up to the hype.

Enjoyed a lovely, leisurely dinner at De Kas on our recent trip to Amsterdam. So impressive that they pioneered farm to table dining 25 years ago. The cocktails were so refreshing and got us sneakily tipsy. Highly recommend the Paloma - one of the best renditions I've tasted. They also have a solid wine list and a wine pairing option for the meal. They bring so many little bites before the main prix fixe meal starts, including ample bread. We were starting to get full early on, so opted for 5 courses over 6. You don't have to decide at the beginning of the meal though, which I appreciate! Our server asked if we wanted the extra dessert/cheese course before serving. It's definitely a vegetable heavy restaurant, with good course progression and extremely fresh ingredients. Loved the crudo as the first course, and so glad we added the supplemental scallops. The seafood was cooked expertly and the sauce so rich in flavor. I enjoyed walking through the greenhouse after dinner and seeing where the magic comes from. The space is gorgeous and the service is top knotch. Come here for a special occasion and expect to dine for 2.5 to 3 hours.

Amazing experience with an amazing concept! Service was also very good with highly attentive staff. Ambiance was perfect for a date night. Each plate was thoughtful and made a unique use of fresh, local produce. This was definitely an experience rather than a simple meal. I recommend that everyone come here at least once in their life.

Built as the Greenhouse of Amsterdam in the 1920s De Kas has no listed menu, instead the eatery functions day to day with Chefs creating a 4-5 course tasting based on that morning's harvest. A restaurant since 2001, with nearly 300 varieties of Vegetables, Herbs and Fruit grown on site the rest comes from their field just north such that a motto of "Harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon" carries weight. Toqued by Wim de Beer and Jos Timmer, the kitchen in full view, lunch begins with a refreshing Amuse followed by small bites, the Strawberry Lettuce Wrap vibrant and delicious while Bread and Tapioca Crisps each garner their own unique Condiment. Working with limited Proteins, Brandade made from line-caught Fish forming a bed beneath a generously breaded Squash Blossom, an entree of Mushrooms and Asparagus proved dynamic without seeming forced thanks to Chicken Soup that accentuated nature with finesse. Awarded one star by Michelin, plus a Green Star for obvious reasons, Dessert comprises one or two servings depending on hunger and can range from Goat Cheese Mousse with Melon to this day's Tarragon Panna Cotta with Hazelnut Cake and Raspberry Sorbet.

Was a little bit of a trip to get here but was an incredible dinner. Heard it was kind of difficult to get a reservation so I was glad we were able to get one last minute. Restaurant is located inside a beautiful green house where they grow some of the herbs used in the dishes, a real farm to table experience. Focus is veggies, but we did get a meat and fish course as well. The food was so unique and flavorful, my boyfriend doesn't particularly love mushrooms and thoroughly enjoyed one of the mushroom dishes. The service here is just as great as the food. It was a truly memorable experience.

De Kas appears to be very hard to get a dinner reservation for, but not too bad for a lunch reservation. Not surprising, as it is fairly affordable for a Michelin star restaurant in Amsterdam. There is a major focus on vegetables here, as they are located in a greenhouse and grow their own vegetables. You can actually see the vegetables when you enter. I found the self-ordered appetizers to be the best things here, as we had some beef tartare oysters and cheeses. But the actual lunch course was just alright. I liked the fish dish we had, but the other dishes were creative but did not light the world on fire for me. Service was fine, as our server was really nice. But somehow we conspired to turn a two appetizer/three course meal into a two hour lunch. This really should not have taken that long. De Kas was a fine experience, but I'm not entirely sure it was worth the amount of time we spent here even with how affordable the menu was.

I know I may get flak for this. Of course, before I went to Amsterdam, I researched restaurants. De Kas, with a Michelin star, was highly recommended by everybody. Unfortunately, the food at this extremely lauded place did not measure up to our expectations. De Kas is located in a park, out of the center of Amsterdam. At one time the entire space was a greenhouse. A section of the restaurant is still a greenhouse, but the restaurant grows much more of the items they serve at a farm offsite. The space is gorgeous. It is elegant, but not too stuffy, lively, but not too crowded. We received a parade of stunning plates, proceeded by a few amuse bouches. The menu is indeed vegetable forward with only two plates having meat or fish. As you can see, the dishes are stunning and look like they might belong as paintings in a museum. Our issue was, although the dishes have the freshest ingredients and unique combinations, they were not at all delicious (except for two). Perhaps my pallet is not sophisticated enough for food like this, although I have consumed several high-end tasting menus and this was the first one that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The best dishes were saved until the end, a savory dessert and a sweet dessert. The servers were very sweet and dishes arrived at a steady pace. In retrospect, I am glad I had this experience. De Kas is a beautiful and special place but do not bring picky eaters!

Truly the best restaurant I visited in 2024! Everything was spectacular and so so fresh. It's a gorgeous atmosphere and the staff is so helpful. The only option seems to be a pre fixe menu - but deff try their add ons too! The steak tartar oyster blew my mind.

Fancy and upscale farm to table dining! Recommend it for an experience. Taste was good for most things and the dessert stole the show for me. Service was great - very relaxed meal (we were here for about 2ish hours). Reservation is a must!

Amazing experience from start to finish. Setting in a park w a large greenhouse attached. That is how local it is! Amuse bouche of gazpacho and celery butter w house made crisps. Appetizer of pork belly w celery rot and slices of truffle. Incredible. Toast beet salad w radicchio and beet purée. Enoki mushrooms were delicious. Main was mackerel. Dessert was goat cheese mousse and second dessert mandarin sorbet w cardamom bookie.

Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. Came here with a group of colleagues, as Jacobsz had been recommended. The restaurant was quite spacious, and there were not many diners on the Tuesday night of our visit (later found out there was a big football match). The service was exceedingly professional, despite a very laid back look. Very friendly and also extremely knowledgeable, and our waiter helped a lot with dish selection and explanation. We all ordered the four course option. Looking at the menu I had my doubts about enjoying the meal, but I was wrong. Again, dishes are listed as the four or so main ingredients in the dish, with no other descriptors. I ordered the Yellowfin Tuna starter, Iberico Presa as the "Between", Gnocchi as my main course, and the cheese. Wow. The tuna was rare and cut into ceviche-sized pieces, paired with other ingredients and served on a sort of tomato broth base. It was fresh and delicious. Everything worked so well together (theme of all the dishes). Others in my group had either the cauliflower or duck confit, and all thought those were wonderful as well. The Iberico Presa was a slow cooked cut of pork, and it was maybe the slightly lower point in the meal, as the pork was not as tender as I would have preferred. The rich sauce and onion really complimented the pork, though. My main was the Gnocchi, and it looked unlike any I've ever seen. In fact, when the dish was set down I could not tell that it was Gnocchi, as the gnocchi itself was covered with a crunchy...something! Not sure what it was, but again everything was delicious!
