We found this place while on our 6th country of a backpacking trip. Our hotel was down off the piers and we didn't want to drive into the city center to eat. This place ended up being one of the best places we've eaten at so far. Pont 13 really blew us away. I really wasn't expecting such an awesome meal. We just wanted to eat at a place close to our hotel so we could walk. I got the Chicken skewer and hubby had the steak. We ate every single bite. OMG!!! Wonderful. Now that I have that out of the way, let me start by saying that at first we were unsure of how our meal was going to be. The restaurant is located in the harbor on an old ferry, converted into a restaurant. I was excited to experience this, but my husband is quite picky so I was unsure of his expectations. We sat inside (they have outdoor seating as well) and the rustic setting, which I thought would be off-putting, was actually very nice. Our servers (we had 1 to start and then 1 to finish) were excellent. They explained the veggie options to us and made a recommendation of the Mushroom Risotto. I had had risotto a couple of times on our cruise we had just taken so I opted for the veggie burger and fries. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed the scenery on the ferry as well as on the waterfront. Such a rustic, romantic feel. Our food arrived fairly quickly which was expected as they were not that busy. My husband took one bite of his food and said, "Wow! This is the best Mushroom Risotto I have ever had. Excellent" I fell on the floor. If you have read any of my post before you know my husband is quite critical of food and has never said anything was the best and never excellent. After I picked myself up I tried my veggie burger. It was fantastic as well and the fries superb. After eating half of my burger and hearing my hubby make noises with each bite, I decided to try is risotto myself and OMG it was amazing. The best!!! Anyway, he wanted to lick the dish when he finished but being in public he declined. I highly recommend Pont 13 for anyone staying in Amsterdam. (Atmosphere: 4/5) The coolest thing about this place is that it's literally a ship. We started off dinner on the gorgeous terrace (deck?) then when it got cold, moved inside to a table placed beside the little round windows. So adorable. However, the seats both outside and inside were quite uncomfortable. Outside were teetery little barstools and inside metal chairs at a table that was way too wide for comfort, so the other person felt really far away. (Service: 3.5/5) The service was fairly friendly but excruciatingly slow. We were there for hours and we only ordered one starter and two mains! This is why we had to move inside: after an hour and a half we realized that we were not going to get our food before we froze off our seats. (Food: 4/5) The food was quite ok. Not exceptional, but good. Fairly simple seafood and meat dishes, like any mid-range Amsterdam restaurant. Nothing too inventive or interesting but the quality was good. Overall I found it a bit too posh for what it really was. It would be a lot nicer and more fun if they dropped the pretence - and the prices - by about 25%. Worth a visit if you're with tourists or someone you want to impress (a client?), but perhaps not a date or a great place to go with friends. read more

yes, the location is exceptionally gorgeous, inside an old ferry. also the food is reeeeally great. we've had the dinner 3-course menu for only €35,-pp which is a great price for the quality of food you get. Only downside to pont 13 is their unattentative service. they could have made easily three times as much with drinks at our table - if only they'd asked. we've waited at least 30 minutes between courses in which not once we were asked if we wanted something else to drink. after the courses we sat another 20 minutes in front of our empty plates before somebody finally cleared our table. really annoying. also: check the bill at the end! they've charged us for each course instead of just 35€ for the menu! but then they've forgot a whole bottle of wine. So we just let it slip and didn't say anything - as this probably would have taken them another hour to sort out, which is really a pitty to an otherwise great restaurant. read more

This restaurant is a typical example of how bad service and worse management can ruin not only one's evening, but also a restaurant's review. Pont 13 has everything -in potential- to score 4 stars easily: great location -on a former verry- and okay food. But then the -probably- students (law, medicine, business, NOT hospitallity) serving you.... They're not interested in you as their guest. They just want to make a few euros and hate the fact it means serving you. We finished our starters, but our main courses never came... After an hour (!) I politely inquired if perhaps they had forgotten us. And yes, they admitted, they had, but the kitchen would now cook us our meals anyway, which would take another half hour. Alas we had other arrangements for the rest of our evening.. So I truly politely told them -no hard feelings- that we'd rather skip our main courses and have our desserts instead. The student serving us went back to the kitchen and returned to us with this message from the owner of Pont 13:....WE COULD NOT ORDER DESSERTS IF WE WOULD NOT FIRST WAIT FOR AND EAT OUR MAIN COURSES (YES! Nice discovery last night with Pont 13. I was invited to a business dinner in Amsterdam and most of the time I don't really enjoy the chosen restaurants but this time it was different. Obviously without GPS I wouldn't have found this place because it is located on the water. Yes, the restaurant is actually a boat! It is very easy to park in front of it though. There is a nice little terrace but the weather didn't allow us to test it. The settings inside are very nice and pleasant. It is sober and spacious. I found it very young minded! We first had a drink at the bar and then moved to a big table. Service was nice, especially for such a big group (15-20 people). We first shared mix plates of cheese/meat/vegetables. It was tasty and fine. For the main dish we had the choice between the fish of the day, rib-eye beef or a vegetarian lasagna. Again, not so bad for such a group. I went for the meat and really enjoyed it. Sides were also pretty good. Quantities were perfect. We finished with a nice speculaas cheesecake and some tea/coffee. I spent a nice evening, it suited our big group well in a very nice atmosphere. I really thought I could have come here on my own. I have spotted a few nice tables by the windows where you can really talk quietly. I have no idea regarding the prices so I cannot comment on that.
