My first and last visit here. Since this was the first time, me and my 2 nieces tried to find something without caffeine that they could enjoy. The person taking our order was visibly annoyed when we asked questions and made certain gestures when I decided to add one more drink before finalizing the order. My nieces commented on how uncomfortable the interaction was and it made me want to cancel the whole order. We got the berry matcha, cereal cold brew, and don't recall the third. This Stone Oak location, like the Shavano Park location off of 1604, is a fine local coffee shop with friendly baristas and cashiers, no drive-thru, indoor and patio seating, and a straightforward menu of hot and cold coffees. The clientele is eclectic, with a mix of young and old regular folks, plus a few readers and laptop workers stretching out their drinks. This place is very convenient to the office and when you want to treat yourself to a good drink this is the place. I ordered the blackberry matcha today which it was good but it had too much cold foam for me. The flavor of the matcha was there which I liked. The price of the matcha with oat milk ($1.00) is $9.98 for a 12 oz which is a little expensive for the size honestly. The service is always friendly and they make the drinks in time to head back to the office. They also have an app where you can place your order ahead of time. So, this morning I decided to go out of my norm and go to Merit. I ordered a 16oz americano with a pump of lavender. When I received my drink it seemed small so I asked one of the baristas if it was a 16oz. She was nice and said no let me get you one and began to pour a regular coffee. I informed her it was an Americano with a pump of lavender and she said "oh I'm sorry" and was gonna begin to make it. When another rude barista said "well you paid for a 12oz." Needless to say, it's petty on both sides to be upset about it being. 12oz or a 16oz... I get it. But, I want rude I was just informing them of what my actual order was. I would have paid the difference but rude girl just interrupted the conversation. I said "no worries"...I'm out. As I walked out I was and am upset at the way it was handled. Finished our salads from Salata & my sweet-tooth/dessert loving friends wanted a Nothing But Bundt cake & coffee at Merit Coffee afterwards so off we went! They picked up a couple of White Raspberry Cakes and to drink here they ordered a Chai Tea Latte & a Regular Latte. I wanted to try their drip coffee($3.50) which was the North Star from Peru. The notes listed were Brown Butter, Amaretto & Blackberries. I was able to request a splash of Lactose-Free milk & Honey which the clerk squeezed out of a large plastic squeeze top container. The coffee was probably a medium roast with some acidity. I'm not akin to tasting the above notes listed and I did sweeten it up with honey. It was smooth, not bitter and I ended up adding Simple Syrup at the condiment station. My friends were gobbling up their bundt cakes as we were catching up on stuff. I was able to get a free refill which was nice. 1-star off because the unisex bathroom's trash can was full & the toilet paper was running out. I saw some extra rolls on the wash counter in a basket so I put one packaged TP roll above the TP dispensers. I hear they have Bakery Lorraine pastries so I'll have to call or check it out next time. read more

I fell in love with Merit coffee after swinging by a coffee shop in Austin where the barista let me taste a few of the brews on tap and also smell the beans to understand the flavors. I love the pink bag (as I call it) I shared my love of Merit with a few of my friends and they have gone to the location here on Sonterra blvd to see if they might have the same passion as I do for your tasty beans. However their experience has not been the same. The baristas refused to let them taste the coffee. Then when asked to smell the beans, the barista claimed health code laws about allowing that to happen. When all you need to do is use a clean spoon to extract beans and place them in a cup. These friends will now not buy merit coffee. One because they did not really like the latte (which is often ruined if someone doesnt know how to froth milk of make the espresso) and is not a true testament of the coffee beans you have. AND two, because your barista's are obviously incompetent and not customer centric. There is no food rule that you cannot let people taste the coffee or smell the beans and this should be encouraged in a true coffee house. I am disappointed. And its unfortunate that if you remain steadfast in this behavior, I will also have to find another local coffee brand to frequent. read more

Vibe- This is a cool coffee shop that sits in a shopping center. There's some seats outside and a good amount of seating inside. Customer service- The best! I love Merit! The place is clean, the staff have always been friendly, and they have a great selection of flavors especially for their matcha lattes. I especially recommend their strawberry matcha with oat milk. It's a nice spot to hang out in and they have outdoor seating for the nicer days, but it does get a bit crowded depending on the time you go in. There's also plenty of parking in the lot. My only quip is I like to order to-go in the app and their food on the app is never accurate and usually tends to be out of stock. I cannot confirm I was afraid to ask. The coffee is decent. I wouldn't say it was worth the $4 especially when they charged $1.50 for a brewed coffee refill, insane. I would also add the service sucked. I stood at the counter for a while in front of some girl and I assume a manager and was ignored. I was the only person at the counter too. Not sure what the deal was. I guess if you are not in a fancy polo or showing the proper accessories you don't exist her. I wonder if I should get a t-shirt with my paystub in it. We had a super early flight a couple weeks ago and decided to get some coffee before heading to our flight. They had a very long line but the staff of two was able to move the line really quickly. To make it easier on the Merit Coffee team we decided to just get their regular hot coffee, and one of their breakfast sandwiches. The coffee was VERY strong and super hot (be careful). For the breakfast sandwich, I order their chorizo and egg breakfast sandwich, which was decent. The only reason why I am not giving them a full 5 stars is because the coffee was way too hot (dangerously hot) and I had to wait some good 15minutes with the lid open until I was able to take a sip. Visited after lunch around 1pm. Ordered the matcha latte. I don't usually like their coffee because it has a slightly sour finish and more acidity than I like. They used a good amount of matcha powder and the traditional bamboo whisk method. That was pretty neat. However, after they poured the milk for latte the drink came out barely lukewarm. That was disappointing even though the taste was fairly decent. I'm sure it was because I ordered a large and the matcha and water came up to only 1/3rd of the cup.
