My fiance and I decided to stop in for a coffee after getting massages next-door. They had a special menu with seasonal drinks for Valentine's Day, so naturally we chose one of those! He ordered the 'Hot Date Latte' and I ordered the 'Nutella Mocha Latte.' I was really impressed with both! I found the flavors to be unique and balanced. I was afraid the Nutella mocha would be super sweet, but it was actually perfect! The barista who helped us was very polite and our drinks came out quickly. It doesn't seem like they stock large amounts of food, so if you want a bite to eat I might skip this spot. We just wanted a good coffee though, so it was the perfect find! read more

Yum! I tried their love you berry matcha drink (matcha with strawberry cold foam) and it was delicious! I would comeback here often if I lived closer. This place is down the street from my dentist office near Huebner and Bitters. I'm not sure why I have never seen it until today, but I'm so glad I did! Five star matcha lattes in a really chill café! Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here! I've only heard fantastic things about Mildfire so I had to stop in while I was in the area. The place is a whole vibe, with comfy furniture, tons of plants, indie music playing overhead, and lots of art by a local artist for sale hung on all of the walls. Business was on the slower side when I went, with only one other couple ahead of me who purchased over a hundred dollars worth of coffee beans, and the single barista working the shop was both super kind and insanely quick with my order. I had an Iced Matcha Latte that easily became one of my top five favorite coffee shop matchas I've had. It was crafted really well, and was super creamy and smooth with the matcha itself mixed evenly throughout the drink. I'd opted for a sweetener this visit, and between it and the whole milk the Latte was a little sweeter than I'd expected but delicious nonetheless. The matcha was still bold in flavor but not too strong or bitter, and paired well with the elevated level of sweetness. I'm actively looking forward to returning to try more of their menu, especially the coffee that couple purchased all of those beans for, and stay a little longer in such a neat environment. The menu is expansive, offering a wide variety of expertly crafted coffee drinks with dairy alternatives for those who are lactose intolerant. The selection here runs the gamut, with single-origin and blend coffees from Central America to Africa. Another neat aspect of this place is that their brew methods are all encompassing as they offer drip, pour over, French press, Chemex, cold brew, and of course traditional espresso! After much consideration, I opted for the Aztec Mocha with oat milk. The drink comprised a blend of cayenne pepper, chocolate chips, espresso, and cinnamon! The first sip was like taking a euphoric journey into blissful tranquility. The sweet blend of cinnamon with the heat of cayenne packed a punch that put me back on my feet. After enjoying my drink, I walked to the back of the establishment where I saw an older man tending to a coffee roaster. Curious, I spoke with him briefly and learned that he was the in house master coffee roaster who had more than 30 years of experience. So, not only does Mildfire make excellent coffee, they source and roast their own beans weekly. It doesn't get much better than that! It's time to update my review from 2010. Here we are, 14 years later, and if I'm being VERY honest, I didn't even remember writing that 3 star review back then. It looks like we've all grown up since then, though! Mildfire has actually become a VERY regular stop for me this year. I have made it a habit to drop in at least once every week and a half to pick up a bag of their 1835 whole beans that they roast in-house. They're a blend of expertly roasted beans that yield a reliably syrupy and chocolatey espresso time and time again; it's my favorite bean! The service seems like maybe it wasn't great back in 2010, but I can happily report that the baristas at Mildfire in 2024 are awesome people. They're kind, helpful, and really great at what they do. I really look forward to dropping by here a couple of times a month! See you all real soon! read more

I managed to squeeze in my order (with an extra shot, duh) and looked around while I waited. Went for a drive for a smaller coffee shop found this little gem. The owner is very sweet and so is her employee we met. I got the Hot Butter Latte with Oat milk and my husband got an Americano. I really enjoyed the Hot Butter Latte. It was not too sweet, smooth, and very tasty. Even the American was very smooth. Plain and simple, no added anything. Both my husband and I enjoyed the flavor. We hung out for a bit chatting, so we decided on a 2nd cup. So I decided to try another Signature drink. I got the Aztec Mocha with Oat milk. As a personal preference...bit much on the cinnamon. Mildfire is a great little coffee shop. I used to go to it a bunch when it was located in the medical center, and I've been to this location several times over the years. I'm not a coffee snob, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think their coffee is delicious. My go to is an americano and theirs didn't disappoint. I had one of their blueberry muffins and that was good too. No real complaints. The space itself is fairly narrow and small. They have some tables along the wall without much access to outlets. So if you're looking to work, make sure your laptop is fully charged. It can also be a little loud so make sure you also bring noise cancelling headphones if you need to write or whatever. That's why I took a star off. I think coffee shops should have tons of outlets and their tables are functional rather than comfortable. They do have a couple of plush chairs at the front but that's about it. They have a couple of tables outside. If you're in the area, and want good coffee, I recommend stopping by. read more

I love how each coffee house has its own flavor and personality. Not only do they have delicious drip coffee (the ultimate mark of a great coffee house) but they roast their own beans in house too. And they have light roast! For the love! Most coffee places I've been to only have medium and dark. In the restrooms, they have a small pack of use things, like feminine products and diapers for a small donation. I find that so helpful as a mom because sometimes you forget an essential and you wouldn't have to find a corner store or an HEB if you're settled down already in the shop. I went a couple of weeks ago while in San Antonio for an appt. Service was hands down amazing. The barista was super friendly and informative on the menu therefore giving me several options based on what I told her my preferences were. The coffee shop was nicely decorated and super cute. It was clean and well spaced out. Also mask were worn. I ordered an iced vanilla latte that was magical. It had the perfect amount of coffee taste not overly milky which happens at times with lattes. I prefer the other location, but I can't put my finger on why. Neither really have the comfortable seating and welcoming atmosphere that I like when ordering my coffee and lingering over a book. Service is somewhat impersonal, and the lack of a public bathroom is a turnoff as well. Bags of coffee beans along back hallway seem to be intended as decoration, but really just come across as messy. Emily's Special is a decent drink, menu didn't specify it was an iced coffee. I prefer the Aztec Mocha. Prices are pretty average. Wish they would partner with a local bakery to offer treats rather than the cups of Umpqua oats and lame Costco-value-pack muffins. read more

I asked them to add a dollop of sweetened condensed milk and it was an absolutely perfect treat. My fiancé got the sledgehammer and it was STE-RONG! Hipsters will stay up in the front with the "cool, but silent" barista, but make friends with their roaster for an educational and personalized lesson on roasting coffee. Hidden gem of a locally owned coffee shop in North Central SA. Mildfire is in a little strip mall with a store front only (no drive through), but it is worth parking and walking in. The shop itself is cozy and quaint with about 5 two-person tables in the front and a few lounge chairs in the back. I would only come here alone or with one other person for that reason. The menu itself is quite extensive, with traditional drip coffee, pour-over, French press, cold brew, and Americano for the traditional coffee enthusiast. They also offer a variety of lattes, specialty drinks, and frozen drinks. I think the prices are reasonable- around $3-4 each drink. When I come I'm usually one of the only people in the shop, so I enjoy how quiet it is. The only downside to this place is that they don't consistently offer pastries or other food. Most of the time, they have either kolaches, tacos, and muffins/danishes (but not all 3 at the same time). So if you have your heart set on some food, I wouldn't place my bets on them having some. But, if you're an adventurous scavenger like myself, I just grab whatever they are offering that morning. Finally, the shop also sells whole beans, but they will grind them for you. They sell Chemex's and some other coffee related items. The baristas are always friendly and will modify anything. They do carry almond & soy milk. read more

I love the idea of this place! I love that they roast their own beans ...bag/grind right there in house! I'll go ahead and say it... I am a fan of Starbucks. But who wouldn't rather go to a hole in the wall, locally owned coffee joint? Places like this can be fantastic. Today... I had a cold 16 ounce aztec spiced mocha. I think that's what it was called. Included chocolate syrup and Cayenne pepper. I was feeling quite adventurous... But I would not get the drink again. Just not for me. But it is what happened while I was sitting there drinking my cayenne pepper throat closer drink that let me down about this place. A gentleman walked in with a woman and ordered a blended iced coffee drink you usually hear ordered at Starbucks. The man behind the counter seemed a bit peeved that he had ordered it that way and proceeded to make comments about how much he hates Starbucks. I was not impressed with that commentary... A fun, intimate coffee shop! This place has a decent brew, and a good cup of tea. There's plenty to choose from on the menu here. I enjoy the fact that there's plenty of stuff to look at around here. There's a box of old postcards that Mildfire has received from across the world. They have books and magazines, and even a few games to play. The art on the wall is nice, and the decor is fun. I think that the bags of coffee in the back are back stock, or they could be decoration. It seems like they're just being messy though. I don't like to think of my coffee being loaded in big bags like that and left on the floor. The service was nice, friendly and fast.
