We bought several things for ourselves and several things as gifts for others. We also learned they do special pairings and post recipes on occasion if you follow them on Instagram too! When we arrive at 10 AM there was already a long line for parking. There are a lot of food vendors. Here they sell things like sourdough bread, Italian specialties, coffees, & even a guy who sells lobster together with his Boston accent. There also are cupcake, vendors, and produce vendors. My friend bought fresh mozzarella cheese, and some other Italian specialties. We had some special coffee drinks. I stopped at the Mariana's Grinds spot. I had a chicken empanada type. I'm not sure what it's called. I didn't like it very much. They did have their lumpia's. I know are very popular and they sell a lot of. The sourdough bread vendors had good prices. I bought several tomatoes, & grapefruits from the produce vendor. When I got home, I noticed that the grapefruits were from South Africa! So strange. Not even Florida grapefruits. I believe this farmers market is every Sunday pro tip: go early, go hungry and bring some shopping bags with you. No pics because my hands were too full holding bags.

She screamed at me as I tried to open up the refrigerator to get a cooled Sauvignon Blanc, not seeing the aggressive sign it was ONLY for the worker to touch the wine. Then she screamed at my daughter looking at an umbrella. Talk about anger issues! This shop was the exact opposite experience. I was greeted upon walking in, offered assistance to pick out wine and the owner engaged with my daughter. I was so much happier to spend my money here vs Fort Alley. I ended up getting some Italian reds, a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and some wines from my Paso Robles in Southern California, one of my favorite wine regions. I was hoping to get some Prosciutto but the shop was all out. The shopkeeper explained there was a rush from customers and she didn't get her regular order in. It was completely understandable. And appreciated her sharing why it wasn't available rather than being dismissive like at the previous wine shop I was at over at Fort Alley. I am so glad I came to this shop. I come to St. Augustine often to visit my family and I'll be back.

I always find something new to try or something that has come back again in the "Aldi Finds" area. I do have my "staples" that I get at Aldi as well. Especially since we used to live in Germany and can get certain items similar here at Aldi that we did there in Germany. It is nice to have the extras and/or more variety, but the prices on some things are higher than the other Aldi's...like milk is $2.26 a gallon instead of $1.99 at other locations for example. I have no idea why that is the case here, but no matter how you slice it...it's cheaper than Publix! It can sometimes be interesting to check out since the aisles don't line up with the checkout stations. I guess my pet peeve about this place is that you have folks waiting in line forever, then they really don't know which way to go when they are trying to check out. Some arrows on the floor would go a llloooonnnnggg way! Then when they are really busy, a new cashier will open and instead of making it a point to approach, or wave, someone over that has been waiting forever they just say they'll take the next person...and someone comes out of nowhere that hasn't been waiting...whoa! It upsets people, and the employees know what they are doing, did and can clearly see what is happening. Older and/or elderly folks that are not capable of zooming over there end up on the short end of the stick (for a lack of a better term). It's sad to watch (and if you say something...no results). They could definitely improve this process and be more compassionate. Other than this, the staff is normally pretty friendly and often the folks stocking the shelves will ask if you need help finding something or are readily available for questions. The parking lot can be interesting, but this is not the fault of Aldi since it's been there awhile. Be aware of the quirky one-ways at the end of the lot because "near misses" happen all the time. If you've never shopped at an Aldi, then please note you'll need to bring your own bags. They do have boxes available sometimes, but don't count on it. It's no problem to just use the cart to take things to your vehicle. You will also need a quarter to get a cart, then you get it back when you return the cart. (Yes, it's the same way in Europe, but they use a Euro coin.)

If they are not busy, take time to get to know the team, even ask for preparation suggestions. Their suggestions are always spot on. I visit here a few times each month. This is a small place that can get very busy. Be patient and enjoy the show. The staff are always wonderful, even when they have to deal with "challenging" customers. There are many options for "meat department" goods in the area. Chop shop is where I go when I want the absolute best quality and unique choices.

We were able to sample some cookies and sampled their strawberry limeade which was quite yummy. The place itself is extremely adorable and IG worthy with the cutest decor and merch! Got myself a slice of that key lime pie and slid in to pie heaven. It's the perfect amount of tartness and soooo creamy. Highly recommend making a stop here when visiting St. Augustine.

Key lime pie is my favorite dessert. Earlier in the week, my husband and I were in the historic district on Monday, but unfortunately they were closed, so we didn't get the chance to stop in. Yesterday was our 12th anniversary, so after enjoying a homemade dinner, we made a special trip downtown to pick up a slice of pie for dessert. One thing I absolutely loved was that customers are able to sample everything--from the cookies to the different pie flavors. That was a wonderful touch and made the experience feel welcoming. I also appreciated the fun nod to the famous Key West chickens, which brought back memories of the island. One disappointment was that, unlike the original Key West location, this St. Augustine shop does not offer a locals discount. I know for a fact that the Key West stores do, and it would be a nice addition here, especially for those of us who live in the area. As for the pie, the original Key lime pie was absolutely delicious. However, I wasn't a fan of the coconut or strawberry flavors. My biggest concern, though, is the price. Paying $6 for a single slice of pie feels excessive, especially when you also have to pay to park just to visit the store in the historic district. Overall, I enjoyed the original pie and appreciated the opportunity to sample the products, but the combination of high prices and paid parking makes it difficult to justify returning. If they were to introduce a locals discount like stores in Key West offer, I would gladly give them another visit.
