We were surprised by the number of vendors from local farms, handmade goods, and variety of food vendors. My mini Yelper walked away with fresh tomatoes and matcha, the rest of us snacked on boiled peanuts, and I couldn't resist datil blueberry jam and datil citrus salt. If you don't already know, datil is everywhere in St. Augustine thanks to Minorcan settlers who brought it centuries ago. You'll see datil everything in St Augustine because the peppers thrive in the soil here & love the hot, humid climate. Anyway, come hungry and ready to support local. It's a green market so they also encourage you to bring reusable bags.

I've had some corn here that rivals my beloved and much missed Midwest sweet corn. The candy cane beets are a rare treat. From dill to blueberries to zucchini and yellow squash, it's all been so very good. Prices are reasonable, downright excellent considering the quality, freshness and light eco-footprint. Right now their hours are limited to Saturdays from 8-noon. There's plenty of stuff, but early is better if you're looking for something that's just coming in or on it's way out. I've ordered my first $20 basket for delivery next week. I'll update my review with pictures and impressions after I get it. All the folks working the place are friendly and helpful. They offer gloves and sanitizer at the start of the line to help out in these tricky times. Overall, this is a great spot to check out. You won't find everything you're looking for, but the stuff is fresh and it's a buy-local win.

We were traveling along south bound 95 last weekend when we decided to stop for coffee. And…read moreagainst my better judgement, we went downtown St. Augustine to get it. It was a lot of traffic to get down there, but it was nice once we paid our parking and walked the tree-lined streets. After we grabbed our coffee, I saw the sign in the window for "Hot Stuff". What caught my eye was hot pickles. We wandered in and I was pleased to see mannnnnny hot items. From Chocolate, to olives to the pickles that were my objective. The fella working the store, the owner I think, was over at a tasting booth letting a guy try some of the hottest hot sauces he had. That was because there was an entire wall, to the ceiling, of hot sauces. He had a good eye, as he spotted me looking at thew pickles ingredients and asked"do you wanna try one, I have a jar open". I was happy to. They were good, but not what I was looking for. Then I saw a hot sauce that was Black Truffle infused. I HAD to try that. Fantastic. I bought 2. I'm glad we popped in, as this was a very friendly place, with many piping hot options.

They also deliver and are available at some of the local farmer's markets like the Saturday one at the St Augustine Amphitheater, but why not take a nice drive down some peaceful roads surrounded my farmland and visit in person so you can see their full inventory. Just bring a cooler bag and some ice blocks to be safe. There is a small service fee for using credit cards, so cash is king to avoid that. Not only would you be purchasing natural, healthy products without artificial fillers and preservatives, but you'll be helping out a local farmer. During these times, we need to support small businesses as much as possible, and trust me when I say this is one small business you do NOT want to miss out on.

There were a steady stream of customers during my visit and a lot of locals I assume by the greetings using their first names which is always great to see, this is definitely not one of those tourist traps you'll find in a lot of areas off the side of the road...

The tomatoes are delicious, the carrots are bigger than any carrot I have ever found in the store, the corn is so sweet. Not only is the food good, but it lasts forever. This has always been a nice Aldi and since they finished the renovations it's become even nicer. I…read morebelieve they carry a little bit more variety, and are slightly better stocked, at this location than other locations in the general area. I always find something new to try or something that has come back again in the "Aldi Finds" area. I do have my "staples" that I get at Aldi as well. Especially since we used to live in Germany and can get certain items similar here at Aldi that we did there in Germany. It is nice to have the extras and/or more variety, but the prices on some things are higher than the other Aldi's...like milk is $2.26 a gallon instead of $1.99 at other locations for example. I have no idea why that is the case here, but no matter how you slice it...it's cheaper than Publix! It can sometimes be interesting to check out since the aisles don't line up with the checkout stations. I guess my pet peeve about this place is that you have folks waiting in line forever, then they really don't know which way to go when they are trying to check out. Some arrows on the floor would go a llloooonnnnggg way! Then when they are really busy, a new cashier will open and instead of making it a point to approach, or wave, someone over that has been waiting forever they just say they'll take the next person...and someone comes out of nowhere that hasn't been waiting...whoa! It upsets people, and the employees know what they are doing, did and can clearly see what is happening. Older and/or elderly folks that are not capable of zooming over there end up on the short end of the stick (for a lack of a better term). It's sad to watch (and if you say something...no results). They could definitely improve this process and be more compassionate. Other than this, the staff is normally pretty friendly and often the folks stocking the shelves will ask if you need help finding something or are readily available for questions. The parking lot can be interesting, but this is not the fault of Aldi since it's been there awhile. Be aware of the quirky one-ways at the end of the lot because "near misses" happen all the time. If you've never shopped at an Aldi, then please note you'll need to bring your own bags. They do have boxes available sometimes, but don't count on it. It's no problem to just use the cart to take things to your vehicle. You will also need a quarter to get a cart, then you get it back when you return the cart. (Yes, it's the same way in Europe, but they use a Euro coin.)
