Having returned home following retirement from the USAF, finding a barber was a mission I needed to complete. I searched and settled on Mentality to visit first. I sent an email and received a call from Kayla who was not only a champion of Mentality, but enthusiastic...a good indicator. I made an appointment and when the day came I was met by Kayla. Once signed in, seated, and downing water (other beverages are available), I witnessed a buzz of activity, all positive. Customers ranged from this old guy to a young man. Shortly after sitting down and before my scheduled time, Brittany introduced herself and escorted me to her barber chair. Once in the chair, Brittany asked self-grooming questions which assisted her in personalizing the the art of cutting hair, trimming beards and shaves. Brittany didn't miss a beat performing her art exceptionally well to include counsel on how a beard should look in relationship with one's face. No need to visit other Barbers given Team MENtality performed flawlessly from initial contact to completion. I went into MENtality as I was driving past, assuming that it'd be difficult to get a walk-in cut done on a Friday afternoon. Turns out, though, that it wasn't. I waited for about 25 minutes, which is fair given that they only had two barbers on shift at that point. The receptionist was polite and cheerful, offered me a complimentary beverage, and worked to make sure that one of the barbers was able to fit me in between appointments. The barber that cut my hair helped indicate how to style it and such (I've always been more of a crewcut sort of person, and was changing to a more updated fashion) and then passed me along to have it washed out. It's not cheap, but its far from the most expensive men's cut I've seen, and my hair looks pretty damn good. I will point out that they mentioned that prices will rise soon, but I'm not sure when or by how much. If you're looking for a decent hair cut, this is the spot to go. I imagine it's "kid-friendly" as yelp's inquired, but I would think it's probably cheaper for kids to just get your standard supercuts trim and call it a day. read more

I am always a believer in a team approach to services. Mentality shares that commitment as well. Jessi warmly greeted me on my arrival, and offered a beverage to enjoy during my brief wait. Jesse Smith, my Barber, remembered me from my last visit, and just how I liked my cut. Jessi then shampooed me, and Jesse finished up with with a razor trim around the edges. Professional, timely, and so enjoyable! The shop is inviting, bright and spot clean. The staff is friendly, both with customers and one another. The App is a treat, as I can plug in an appointment to match my busy schedule. But there were last minute call-ins and a walk-in while I was there for my visit, all accommodated graciously. The staff takes wonderful care of a retiree like me, or young folks, like the 7th grader that shared a chair during my visit. You will not be disappointed at all if you give MENTality a chance to serve you. I had gone to the same barber for 40 years or so. Mentality is a first rate men's barber shop and more. I have been seeing Steve for more than five years, he is not only a truly great hair cutter, but also a great person. He is meticulous, he listens to what I tell him, and he is a perfectionist. I have also received cuts from Jesse and Jody and others, they are all great, never disappointed. The staff are always courteous and helpful. The new website that allows on-line booking is awesome, you get reminders on your phone that are not annoying. It makes it so easy to plan your haircut. I have never walked in without an appointment, so cannot claim any knowledge about walk-ins. The professional haircut includes a hair wash if you want, I always opt in because it is also a head massage which is relaxing but not weird. The clientele varies from kids to young hipsters to older professionals, sort of an eclectic mix. This business knows its business. If I could give a rating higher than 5, I would. I went to MENtality to get my haircut by Marco.(He cut my hair at a previous location). They give a complimentary drink (I had a draft beer) water , coffee and such while you are waiting. I was running a little late so I had my beer while I got my haircut-A cool and comfortable experience. Marco was very patient and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I wanted to try a product but wasn't sure exactly what I wanted .Marco went the extra step and showed me a pamphlet on the product he recommended by my needs. He washed and shampood my hair and then styled my hair like I wanted so I could leave the shop feeling fresh. The place was very clean and the other customers were leaving their chairs happy with very nice haircuts.They also have a dog walking around which is unique. The employees really care about providing top notch quality service. *This place is out of town for me, but it is definitly worth the drive for a trip to MENtality. read more

Britney is the only person I trust my beard to. Every time I get my hair cut with Britney I always get huge compliments. Don't settle for less, bring your beard to Britney! Every time I leave, my hair is model perfect. A lot of times your hair won't look right when you try to style it yourself, but not with Britney at MENtality. Not only does she give you good styling tips, but she just cuts your hair right - you know because it styles right, every time. This is the only place I trust. I've been getting my haircut from Steve, the owner of MENtality, well before he opened his top-notch Barber Shop and he always does a great job cutting my hair. The atmosphere is casual and the place is very well kept. When you arrive, they offer you complimentary cold beer or water which is a nice touch (I usually opt for the beer). If you do have to wait a couple minutes, there are two big screen T.V.'s to keep you occupied. I call ahead for an appointment so I usually get right in. They charge $19 for a haircut which I think is reasonable considering how nice the shop is inside, the level of service, and most importantly the quality of the haircut. read more

To experience those gentle soft hands, meticulously trimming each strand of hair is otherworldly. This place is amazing! I drive all the way from Pittsburgh now just because they are all so skillful and give me exactly what I want. They kill the modern styles and know exactly the look you are trying for. The master barbers are great all the way down to their newest barbers. There is not a weak stylist in the place. They will give you an amazing cut and shave and help you understand how to style it once you leave. I visited Mentality a few weeks ago when I was back in town for Thanksgiving. Found it on Yelp and decided to visit based on reviews. I was very impressed. My first impression was how friendly everyone was. When I sat down the gentleman took the time to talk to me and figure out how I want my hair to look. He took his time with the scissors (not a shaver) and even did a second pass after I decided I wanted it a bit shorter. All in all, awesome experience. Have been to MENtality 6 times now. Easily accessible and shop has great atmosphere. Flat screens are always on, good tunes are playing, and the service has been professional every time. Staff extends friendly welcome upon arrival and offers a cold beverage. Shop owner Steve has cut my hair each time by request and has incredible attention to detail. Can tell that the other barbers and stylists are dedicated as well as I often see repeat clientele for them when I make my visit every 3 weeks. Tony was great. From his greeting to his goodbye he was fully engaged in making sure I was comfortable. He explained everything he was going to do. Since I am optically challenged (wear glasses) Tony gave me my glasses a couple times so I could check his progress and make any adjustments, which I have never had a barber do. It is soooo nice to see Mentality open back up and to see Mercedes again after such a long stint due to the Coronavirus. One thing I can say is that even though it's been a while the quality is never flawed when it comes to Mercedes and her team! They are running limited operations so there are no beard services or hair washing services but just having that good feeling of connecting with the barbershop again and being able to catch up with an old friend like Mercedes is honestly priceless! I've been going to Jody (Mentality) for a few years now. I was a walk-in who used to groom my own head/hair...if you call clipping your own hair grooming. I'll never go back to self-grooming again. These guys are artists. For years I went to Supercuts, Sportsclips and I was getting increasingly frustrated. One particular haircut pushed me over the edge and had me researching internet. The entire staff at MENtality is truly great! I have two sons 7 and 15 who never wanted real hair styles before, just buzz cuts. After their first experience at Mentality a year ago, they had "real haircuts" that were so easy for them to manage on their own. This was my first experience at MENtality, and the staff treated me like a king. Mercedes was super kind and sensitive to my safety, and the whole staff took many precautions to prevent the spread of COVID. Grace provided me with tons of useful tips to keep my hair healthy in between appointments, and she also shared with me a bunch of high quality hair care products. Today was my first time at this barbershop and Steve, the owner, gave me a great haircut. He recommended the right hair product for my fairly-balding head, and his assistant, Amanda, does a great job with the shampoo. Very relaxing experience. Plus, if you want an old-school barber feeling, these guys are great. They know how to use a straight razor (as Steve did on my neck and sideburns) using shaving cream and a real blade.
