I am extremely disappointed by the treatment my husband received during what should have been a simple return. We came in to return an online order--shoes and suspenders that were neatly packed and clearly unworn. Within seconds, the associate handling the return began treating the items with visible disgust, dumping everything out of the box carelessly, and handling them as if they were dirty. Before even properly inspecting the shoes, she immediately accused my husband of wearing them. For clarity: the shoes were tried on briefly at home and never worn outside. There were no signs of wear, creasing, or damage--because they were, in fact, unworn. What made this experience even worse was the tone. The interaction was not neutral or professional--it was accusatory from the start. Another employee, who was in the middle of assisting a different customer on the phone, felt the need to interject and double down on the accusation without any basis. Had this been approached respectfully, my husband would have been more than willing to have a calm conversation. Instead, he was met with immediate suspicion and hostility. It's difficult to ignore the role that bias may have played here--my husband, an Asian man dressed casually in a hoodie and hat, was treated as though he was trying to deceive the store. This was not just poor customer service--it was disrespectful and unacceptable. No customer should be made to feel judged, profiled, or accused without cause. We expected basic professionalism and left feeling frustrated and disrespected. On the heels of having visited the Men's Wearhouse inside the Woodbridge Mall, I had to get some adjustments made to the suit pants I had purchased and this was the nearest location that would do it. This store was what I had expected to find originally. It's a rather large location. The store is wide and thanks to mostly glass in the front light floods in nicely on a sunny day. The front area is where the cashier is located. Suits and accessories are spread throughout the store, with several islands with ties on them. There are two islands with shoes nicely laid out. I spent all of ten seconds looking around helplessly before I had two different guys offering to help me out. Granted the store was not packed (only about six other customers were floating about). Still I've been to empty stores where people just gave me blank stares so this was refreshing. I wound up mostly being helped by an older gentleman (tall, white hair and beard, knowledgeable, but I'm afraid I didn't catch his name). He got the tailor to show up quickly. Once everything was written down, he originally estimated a day turnaround. I told him I was hoping to have it done by the end of the day. He understood and agreed to get it done within an hour. The measurements took no time at all and I even picked out some new shoes and a belt while I was at it. Each suit was $400, but there was a good sale going on so I got a bargain (relatively speaking). After I paid for everything, I went out to hang out at the nearby Target to kill some time. And you know what? One hour later exactly and the pants were ready and adjusted perfectly. When I struck out to get a couple new suits today, I was hoping to find good service as well as good product, and this store delivered. Kudos! read more

So I have a Christmas Party for the new company I'm going to work for on Saturday. I went to this location yesterday. I walked inside and stood at the counter while a salesman stood there looking at his computer screen. After a few minutes he looked up and said can I help you. I told him I needed to rent or purchase a suit. He said go upstairs and there is plenty of salesman there waiting. I went up there and looked around for 10-15mins when finally a salesman asked what I was looking for. Told him what I wanted and that I would purchase a suit or rent one but my budget was $300. The 1st thing the guy wants me to try on was $300 just for the Jacket. After saying the price point was to high, I could tell he didn't even want to help me anymore. I tried on the items he wanted me to try and the pants where to short. He stated he could add up to an inch but at a cost and another cost for speedy service. I was NOT happy about what he wanted me to wear to my Christmas party. I have been to a Men's Warehouse in Fort Myers FL and I purchased 3 suits from them. They made me feel like they wanted my business and was doing what they needed to do to earn my business. I thought all Men's Warehouses were the same but I was Dead wrong. Well I left this NJ location and was in route to Joseph A. Banks to see if they were interested in my business but as I was leaving Men's Warehouse I happen to see a sign for Karako Suits and stopped in there to see if they could assist me. I purchased a Suit, Vest, Slacks, 2 Calvin Kline Shirts, 2 Calvin Kline Ties, 2 Pairs of Socks, a Belt and a pair of Florsheim Shoes all for $350. They even thanked me for stopping in. I never made it into this location but the service I received today from Stacey over the phone was so horrible I won't even go there. I called to see if we could just walk in or if we had to set up an appointment first. Stacey picks up, I told her I'm on my way with my fiancé to look at tux for my groomsmen but wanted to know if an appointment is required, she says yes her last appointment is at 5:30am when would I like to come in, me not understanding what exactly she meant I politely asked was she stating I could come in before 5:30pm or after her last appointment? She then says to me loudly and rudely "I said my last appointment is 5:30pm when would you like to come in"? So I said to her wait a minute, I'm a customer and I have been nice to you, I didn't answer what you meant and wanted to get clarification but I'll not accept this rude behavior, what's your name, she then pretend she can't hear me all of a sudden and says to me she can't hear me and hangs up. I then called back and her manager apologized for her rude behavior but that was very unacceptable. You don't talk to a customer like that then hang up on them. She shouldn't be in this type of business dealing with customers. I am getting my tux custom made but I was sending my groomsmen there but now they lost my business. Horrible Experience. I came to this men's warehouse on three separate occasions to get information on rentals and custom suits. I never got my questions answered or what can be provided at a Men's Warehouse in regards to services/rental. The staff at this location are not approachable nor have any idea about their product and/or services. If you have questions, you are then passed around from person to person (as every department appears to be their own identity.) On top of that, the staff will ignore you until one makes a fuss or become pushy for their attention. The last straw happened today (10/14/2019) when I came in hoping to speak to someone in rentals around 330 pm-400 pm. I wanted patiently as I observed the lady in rentals handling a customer. After she was finished, her personal phone rang, she answered it, put it on speaker and continued her speaker conversation. After her son told her he'll call her later, she then asked what she could do to help. I asked my question, she answered me and immediately left to go and help another customer. I was never done asking my questions and I also wanted to put a deposit on a rental for my wedding. Like seriously, did I just get ignored. She definitely needs a lesson on customer service. The Edison location didn't even acknowledge me as I walked through the store. I am a rather large guy wearing a florescent green muscle shirt and sweat pants shopping for shirts for myself and my son. One salesman was behind me fixing clothes on a rack... He spoke to another gentleman in the store that passed me. Another salesman was helping a family buy clothes for a young boy. There was another guy in the rear part of the store pressing/altering clothes. As I walked out I had to pass two salesmen... one being the same salesman that was behind me earlier fixing clothes. Every year for the past 5 years, I go to a black tie event and rent a tux. This event always happens around prom season, so I know going in each time that it is going to be busy. This was the first time I tried Men's Warehouse for a tuxedo. They did a really good job moving the line and taking my measurements. Unfortunately, that is where the good job ended. I was told the suit would be ready the day of the event, but when I went to pick it up it had not been delivered. To the store's credit, they did drive it to my office. Now you can probably see the obvious problem here, I did not get to try on the suit. When I did, the pants were so long they fell under the shoes, the jacket was too big, the shirt was too short, and the vest was not only a different style than what I tried on in the store, but it was also way too big. The only part of the suit that was correct were the shoes and the jewelry. Honestly, at an event where I just wanted to blend into a crowd, I stood out as the person wear the worst suit in the room. It was embarrassing, and honestly a little dangerous given the length of the pants and the danger of tripping. When I went to drop off the suit, I immediately was accused of not trying on the suit to let them alter it. They told me no tux would fit perfectly when it first came in. It was only after they realized I never had the opportunity to try on the suit that they had to rethink that position and offer me some kind of compensation. They asked me what I thought was fair, and I told them I didn't want to pay. That was not an option. So then we negotiated how much they were going to give me back. I ended up paying over $70 to look ridiculous. What a sad excuse for customer service. I'll never rent a tux here again, and I strongly suggest you try somewhere else as well. read more

DO NOT use the Edison mens wearhouse for tux rentals! They do not check the condition of their rental tuxes or accessories before packing. I recently rented a tux from this location as a member of a wedding party along with several other groomsen. The day of the wedding, we all discovered that most of the rentals were pretty damaged or missing items. My cuff links were missing the black jewels so i had to forgo the cuff links and use the shirt buttons which stuck out like a sore thumb. My pants pocket button was popping off hanging by a thread. Several other groomsmen jacket buttons popped off and all of our shirts were wrinkled. When i returned my tux, i notified one of the workers about theses issues and her response was "oh don't worry about it, these things happen all the time." After i made sure to clarify that the tux was in this condition before i put it on, she shrugged me off without any apology or a care in the world. Definitely not worth the stress and can find a much more affordable rental elsewhere that isn't falling apart. read more

I was a groomsman in a wedding that unfortunately decided to arrange rentals us. I wasn't fond of the initial fitting and how the suit looked. I was assured the proper adjustments would be made. Upon picking the suit, it seems no adjustments were made. The suit was supposed to be slim fitted and was far from it. I understand the suit is a rental but wow, had i known it would turn out the way it did, I just would've purchased my own. The Men's wearhouse in Metuchen is one of my most pleasant experience in a clothing store. The Manager and staff are very welcoming. I have read bad reviews few months prior to my visit and I was suspicious on my visit but I must agree on the recent reviews that the management has been greatly changed. Stay away from Men's Warehouse in Staten Island!! My son went for a Best Man suit as the groom lives upstate and chose Mens Warehouse. It was a custom suit. He purchased the custom suit and a suit off the rack. First, the woman said there was no suit for Best Man in the computer- only a shirt and tie. She wouldn't call the upstate store to clarify so my son called while standing there and the directions for a custom suit were in the notes in the computer but she didn't scroll down. Weeks later he gets an email that the suit is ready and when he goes there they say it wasn't made and they didn't send the email. The suit he bought off the rack was on sale for around $250 and he paid $70 to have it altered. When he picked it up it was terribly altered. He brought it to a tailor yesterday and she said it's irreparable and she thinks it was tailored to someone else's measurements so he's out $300. Go ANYWHERE else but please save yourself and don't go here! read more

Horrible, I should have read the reviews before we took my son there for the prom that he was in. Not only did they get his measurements wrong but the customer service once you have a problem is horrible! They sill never got it straight but at that point it was to late to do anything other then them letting his the sleeves down on the jacket. It was still to tight and the pants that they order for the second time weren't as bad but not great. When I called to complain the owner stated that they can never say that the suits will fit perfect that's why they have early pickup. I had to let him know that the had our pickup scheduled pickup date was originally for the day before BUT I called and had it changed for two day prior to the event. All he did was beat around and NEVER took accountability and felt that this is something that happens. We started looking around for awhile but really needed someone to help us. There was a group of people by the main counter having conversations mostly sales people. They were laughing and seemed to be having fun so I waited awhile. I figured one of them would have came over but no one did. I continued to look at suits and looking at prices ranging from $500-$700 which was a little much for me. I knew I must have been in the wrong section. After being there for 10 minutes I turned to my son and told him we are leaving. As we were walking out I thought someone would have stopped us to ask if we needed help but nothing. The store had only 2 customers and it was 11am in the morning. We ended up going across the street to Macy's and you can read my 5 star review. When I came to pick up I was told to come back the next day. I bought a man's full suit priced at $200.00 After I bought the item, I realized it was not exactly what I was looking for. Therefore, I went back to the store to get a refund. The sales associate I spoke to referred me to the manager on duty. Once I explained the situation to him, he asked me to return at a later date saying there was not enough cash on hand to process the return. I went back on the date and tine at which he told me to visit again to get the refund. The return was however, rejected once again due to supposed lack of cash on hand. It occurred to me that the manager was trying to avoid having to process the return in the first place. It's extremely difficult to get a refund for your purchases. Despite being a large franchise, the price is less competitive than boutique specialty tux and suit stores and the staff, while very polite, isn't nearly as knowledgeable. I was given an incorrect vest size and now, the day of the wedding, I need to go with a different style. The staff assumed the size would fit without ever actually having me try it on. To make it up to me, the staff offered me an additional shirt in a different size since they don't have any shirts that fit me well. So now, I get to decide if I want to wear a shirt that is too small or too big with a vest in an incorrect style all while paying more for the terrible experience. I paid $205 for this poor quality rental and wasn't offered any discount for the massive screw up, just an apology and another shirt...don't risk ruining your special event and stay away from Men's Wearhouse, the Walmart of suits. read more

I have been a Mens Wearhouse customer for years now. I needed some new suits, and chose to use the Edison location as it is closest to my current residence. I was happy to work with Robert. He did his best to make me feel welcome as a unique customer, getting to know me and my purpose in the store. Robert has a true talent for matching the right suit with the right person, and found suits that required minimal tailor work in a short time. Robert has a great sense of fashion and color as well. I did not plan to buy new shirts and ties, but the combinations he picked out were too incredible to pass up. There was a buy one get one free deal, so I ended up with four suits, four shirts, and four ties at a reasonable price. The tailoring came back correctly and quickly. read more
