Lobster egg rolls - these were soooo good!
    Aimee F.

We really liked Mendon 64! We had a hard time finding the door since there wasn't a sign out front, but we eventually found it! The inside was super cute, for an older school restaurant, but it did smell like must in there. Next time I'd probably eat outside since they have a very cute outdoor area. The lobster egg rolls were the star! They weren't overly fried and you could clearly taste the lobster inside. They were so flavorful and clearly made in house. It came with two delicious dipping sauces but the egg rolls themselves were very moist. The homemade gnocchi was very good! The pad Thai was definitely not authentic, so I would probably order something else next time, but maybe if they labelled it asian noodle stir fry that would be more realistic, since it was still pretty good. The service was on point and the food came out very fast!

I had taken my BFF out for her birthday dinner to Mendon 64 on Friday night. It was packed but we were still seated on time. Our server, Katie, was a very nice young lady and made so much our dining experience fun! The Thai Pad, Steak Lettuce Wraps and Lobster Rolls were Delicious!! We ended our meal with coffee and Apple Cheesecake. Everything was hot and fresh. The decor was very cozy and warm. We wondered if the wood tables were custom made as they were unique. The featured artist, Joseph Accorso, and his artwork was very nice. They also have an outside patio with table fire pits. Nice on a cool night.

Excellent food at this local restaurant. Our crew of 3 tried several appetizers including oysters on the half shell, bacon wrapped scallops and the rock shrimp chowder. All excellent. Beet salad rounded out the starters. For entrees the 3 of us shared 2 of the nightly specials. Prosciutto wrapped Mahi Mahi on linguine and the Mushroom Chicken Cutlets. Plenty of food for 3. For dessert we tried the special biscuit with Mendon farm fresh berries and creme plus the Deconstructed Tiramisu. Both yummy! Excellent service. Prices are high ish so not an every weekend restaurant but worth it for a special occasion or special night. On this Saturday night visit they had live music in the bar. Love it! Sit outside at one of the fireplaces and enjoy a cocktail. Totally worth it.

We had such a fantastic meal tonight!! Shylo was one of the best servers we've ever had, she was 100% on top of everything. The meal was so delicious that we planned our next trip before even finishing our meal! We started with two soups on a very chilly January Friday in Mendon. The soup special was fantastic! Cream of cauliflower and potato, silky and creamy with crispy panchetta, chives, and chili oil. My partner had the french onion soup, the onions were incredibly tender and sweet. It was the best french onion soup i've tried, and he basically inhaled it I had the shrimp and grits special. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the grits cake was crispy on the outside and soft and velvety on the inside. The entire dish was seasoned so well and I could've licked my plate of the reduction. He had the chicken bacon alfredo special, the pasta was perfectly tender and the chicken had a great grilled flavor. It was the perfect balance of fresh and rich! For dessert- Flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce and whipped cream, decadent and a perfect portion to finish my meal. He had the cranberry creme brulee, not pictured but it had was so. good. Cranberry coulis for the base, and the brûlée'd top was absolute perfection. Thank you to the most kind staff for making our date night an incredible one!!

I decided we should go for Valentine's Day! So here we are a group of 4, on Valentine's Day . Reservation was for 6 however our show ended early so we came around 5:30. Restaurant was empty except for a few people at the bar. Host was less than happy about us coming in early. We had no problem waiting. He reluctantly seats us. The waitress comes out rolls her eyes and then gives a fake smile. Maybe because our skin is brown but our money is green. Now to the food! Awful and severely over priced! We have been too many expensive restaurants that can walk the walk. Erie Grill can't even crawl. Caesar salad $25 (serves one, not an entree), chicken lollipops $16 end up being two chicken legs. The others ordered wagu meatloaf. It definitely tasted frozen. I order tuna tartar wontons (Nosh's Ahi tuna wontons would murder these) and a bowl of jambalaya (meh). It has definitely taken me one month to get over this experience. Nice hotel well that's all I can say! PS. Manager seemed to be "taste testing" booze in the back. Unprofessional!

It was very nice; we were able to have a decent conversation with dinner and that made for a wonderful experience. The service was prompt but unobtrusive. Portions are sized well but not huge. I did see some people taking home some white boxes. We shared our starter, entrée and dessert and finished it all. We started with Smoked Trout Dip served with house made potato chips. The ratio of chips to dip looked off but it was perfect. Personally, I thought the dip was under seasoned and light on the trout. The Chef came to our table to discuss his cuisine and we both left with our own opinions intact. The Featured - Friday Fish was the best Bouillabaisse I have tasted in years. It was the Friday Special and it was indeed special. The Bourbon Apple Crisp was to die for. If I had known, it was so good we would have ordered two portions instead of splitting one. The parking lot on the property is very small, but street parking is available.

Once we got seated at the bar, things turned around quickly. The space has a really cozy, intimate vibe with dim lighting, warm atmosphere and overall it feels thoughtfully put together. We ordered hot toddies to drink, which were perfect for the weather, and for food we got the Japanese sweet potatoes and the cavolo nero pesto. Both dishes were incredibly delicious - flavorful and well-balanced. Just be prepared for a wait (and maybe stay nearby instead of wandering off), but once you're in, it's a great experience!

It's a small space inside but it's designed well enough to manage a flow of traffic for customers and staff. We sat in the back greenhouse area. I think the least enjoyable part of our experience was how loud it was in the restaurant. Definitely not a good spot if you're trying to catch up with someone and your voice doesn't carry. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, with some soft music playing, and sports on the TV. Our server was over within minutes to take our drink orders. We ordered the mozzarella half moons and an order of chicken wings as appetizers. The mozzarella half moons were not too great. They did not have much flavor and they tasted kind of old. But, the chicken wings were the star of the show. We got the Cajun gold sauce and wow... it was so good. There wasn't much of a Cajun flavor to it, but it had this tangy sweet flavor to it that made your mouth salivate. And the chicken wings themselves were fried to the perfect crisp. I ordered the turtle plate with cheeseburgers, french fries, and mac salad. The cheeseburgers and French fries were cooked well. The mac salad was lacking flavor and was just kind of watery. The meat hot sauce atop the plate had too much of a cinnamon flavor for me, that kind of ruined the whole plate for me. My dad order their special fried oyster po boy, which he said wasn't too great. He said the fried oyster were kind of cold, and they were put on a plain roll. My mom got a burger, which she said was a fine burger. I definitely will be back in the future at least for those wings, and to probably try some of their other food.

While planning our dinner party months in advance, the communication from Janine was excellent. She helped us develop a 4-course menu that was sure to have something for everyone, including vegan and allergy friendly options. Amy was our server for the evening, and she ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. The baby cauliflower dish was also a beautiful presentation, and quite large and enjoyable. The salads, particularly the Charred Hurricane salad, were nice light courses before the entree was served. As for the entrees, the filet mignon was a little on the dry side, but we really enjoyed the light and crispy spinach fritters that accompanied the beef. The salmon was a generous portion of medium rare fish, and there was lot going on with that dish - spicy cauliflower and za'atar potatoes that had some mixed reviews. Folks who ordered the duck breast seemed to enjoy the complex preparation, which had asparagus, green beans, and two pureed sauces - cauliflower ginger and cherry-rhubarb. The doughnut bread pudding with apple pieces and vanilla ice cream was a delicious, decadent way to end the meal. We tried to order the pazole verde instead of the octopus but they were out of that entree for the night so that was a bummer! The burger was juicy and I liked the sauce that came on it and with the fries. The octopus was cooked nicely and not too chewy. I rarely give out five stars. Between the abysmal customer service that seems rampant these days…read moreand fast, slapped together food, this is a Hidden Gem (promise not to tell anyone, o.k ?) I was done with work, tooling around Henrietta, and thanks to my errant GPS, took a wrong turn down Clay Road. That's how I found this place. Since I came in on the Clay Road entrance, I had no idea it was actually in the Holiday Inn and Suites, on the corner of Jefferson and Clay Roads. Of course, this means that it has a huge private parking lot. I used the Clay Road entrance, leading directly into the restaurant. It's actually bigger than you would think. It's very sleek, modern and cosmopolitan. To the left as you enter, is a gleaming, polished, black marble bar and barstools, with large, flat- screen TVs flanking the bar. I seated myself at one of the tables between the bar and the long, rectangular high top that separates the dining room. On the other side of the rectangngular table, is a spacious, living-room area, with comfy chairs and sofas, and another large flat-screen. It's a great place to gather and have drinks, or just relax and scroll through your email. There were over a dozen people enjoying their drinks and laughing and a couple of teenagers chilling on the sofas, intent on their cells. An impeccably groomed server, Preston, immediately came over and greeted me and gave me a menu. He served me both times that I was there for dinner. He asked about my mother, which was kind. I was impressed that he even remembered, considering the amount of people he serves. He even remembered what I had to drink (Prosecco) the first time. I usually avoid eating in hotels, even while on a trip in bad weather. Between his excellent service, and the delicous food here, I was warming to eating in a hotel, even if I live in Rochester. The first time, I asked him what he suggested; he said their burgers were excellent. I ordered a build-your-own Burger, with cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, and onion. The burgers all come with a side of fries or Pub Chips. Preston said that the Pub Chips are made in-house daily. I went with those. I changed my mind and canceled the lettuce, fearing iceberg. Being rather soft-spoken, he probably didn't hear that, and my burger arrived with lettuce. Fortunately, it was not the iceberg that I loathe; it was a nice wonderfully green and crisp leaf lettuce. I took one look at the Burger and thought "Oh Mama, there's no way I'm going to finish this sucker," as it was huge...like the Grand Canyon of burgers. I'm not a picky eater, just not a big eater. But I had a very light, early lunch, and was pretty sure I could eat most of it. I ate it all. I'm not generally a fan of fried foods, but the pub chips were beyond delicious. It was all I could do to restrain myself from eating them all; I saved some for my mom and it was quite a sacrifice. She devoured them. Last week I bounced in and decided to try their chicken wings. Man, they really give Richmond's a run for their money: large, meaty drums perfectly slathered in delicious buffalo sauce. They were served with a handful of carrot and celery sticks and the de rigueur blue cheese. Nice presentation, too. I highly recommend trying this Hidden Gem. This place not only knocked my socks off, it made them roll up and down.
