WOW! We drove by one day and noticed the outdoor patio with fire pits. Cool right! So dinner last night was amazing! Appetizer of tuna poke and mushroom Ragu to share! So good. Fresh tuna with wasabi sauce seaweed and zucchini noodles! Just delicious! The mushroom were creamy in a veal demi glacé. Dinner I had steak frites. Thinly sliced steak with a bacon jam sauce and rosemary seasoned fries. I love a good sauce and this was crazy plate cleaning good! A little pricey as my steak was 30 but so worth it! Girls had pretzel roll chicken bbq sandwiches and hubby a filet with amazing asparagus! So good! read more

The previous review stating "potential galore" hit the nail on the head. Went for dinner NYE, quite a drive from home. Had rezzies. Food was good just got apps. Service? Horrendous. Coming from a waitress of almost 10 years.. I get the hardships. The server was actually the best part. The bartender and maybe another server at the host stand / entrance was where my appetite literally left my body. Drove relatively far, like I said, to be greeted with... nothing. Stood around, looked around clearly needing to be helped / seated.. still nothing. Seen for sure tho. We had to actually ask to be seated. So anyway the place is beautiful we sat down, Busser came over- not a word. Which is fine usually bussers don't say much but after that encounter it just made it even weirder and less comfortable. I get no one wants to be working NYE.. been there, and now a nurse, I understand working the holidays. But solely that first 30 seconds is why I won't return or recommend. read more

5/8/18 - The service and food continues to be just fine, the owner visited our table and was most pleasant (not artificial, very real). But something was missing.....people....there were few people in the restaurant, there was a large group on the deck. This restaurant deserves our patronage. The reason I gave 4 stars is the prices are a little high for what you get, otherwise EXCELLENT It was a quiet Tuesday evening, the food was fine and the hospitality was excellent ....... very much worth a try! read more

My date and I visited last Saturday, first time since they brought in chef Kevin Toole and his revamped menu. Wow, we were blown away at the new choices! I settled on a swordfish which was the most tender cut I have ever encountered. My girl had a filet which she was equally impressed with. The beet salad I started with was exquisite as well were the entree sides. Also for an extremely busy night due to a couple recent positive publication reviews the staff handled the bustling evening efficiently and perfectly. An extra mention to the host who greeted us cheerfully and was most accommodating, even when we arrived without a reservation. First impressions are so important and this gentleman always delivers that! Looking forward to returning very soon! read more

Mendon 64 is a great place to grab a drink outside. It's fun to sit on a comfy couch in front of the fire with a great cocktail! Prices comparable to the rest of Rochester. We wanted to order dessert with our drinks, but there is actually not a dessert menu at this point in time. read more

Mendon 64 was absolutely phenomenal! The staff was extremely friendly upon entry and i really got a homey feel from the place. I sat down and had a cocktail before dinner and it was delicious. The bar staff was not only quick but very personable. But, the best has yet to come. We sat down to eat the food and i was blown away. I had high expectations coming in and the food seriously exceed them. It was absolutely delicious and I'm already planning my next trip back. Sorry to disagree, but we were underwhelmed. Our "dining guide" ( that's how she referred to herself) was certainly nice enough, but unfortunately did not pay enough attention to my dietary needs. I am sensitive to both dairy and gluten and informed her of this. She did her due diligence on the gluten for sure, but my appetizer was served with dairy. Our dinners were just OK. This was within the first month of being open, so maybe that was a factor. read more

I don't understand people who open restaurants and spend no time training their staff. A cute smile and politeness is just the beginning to professional service. They need to get everyone on the same page. I ordered a shrimp cocktail. They were over cooked and Not deveined. The special of beef tips over crispy gnocchi had a very tasty sauce but the gnocchi were not crispy. The salmon entree was dry and over done. Needs a lot of work quickly to succeed. read more

The place looked nice and we liked how there was live music in the bar and a cigar night outside on the patio. The other diners were older, giving the restaurant a sort of older feel. The food and the service was good. I got the Cesar salad and gnocchi. Other people at the table got the salmon starter, crab cakes, fish special with leek risotto, and steak. Stopped in because we heard new owners where updating the long time restaurant locale. Place looks great and we were told of new chef and local art displays. Unfortunately the menus and food were still tired. Tried the calamari app and got dense greasy fried rings on a bed of arugula, with an even heavier cream based sauce. Side salad was none de script except a bit watery by the pool left in the plate. My husband loved his boar tips which came with potato wedges, by the menu "blue" potato but he was still plenty happy with regular potato. I got seared sea scallops. I have to say the scallops alone were fine. Unfortunately that was after I fished them out of some odd cream sauce. They came with risotto that was gummy and some over cooked asparagus. So overall an unpleasant dish. service was ok, but for the price the food was sub pare, by generous standards. Highlights would be in house baked goods, breads and desserts were top notch. Maybe the new chef hasn't gotten the house turned around yet? Let's hope! The atmosphere was pleasing. This could be a great place. We hope so! read more

I can't believe this place has 4 stars. What a waste of money and time on a concert night. I should have known to walk out when I walked in and was hit with a horrible smell. Note-to-self - trust your gut going in. Beet salad had no beets. Calamari was warm at best. Who sells calamari and has no sauce to serve upon request? Duck was fine but not fantastic. Tacos claimed to be fish, but they were so fried I actually don't know. Ceasar was ok - so there is that. Service was polite and attentive. Cost was absurd for the beyond basic level quality of food. read more

The food here was fine; nothing special, but roughly what one expects from a restaurant like this. But the service was simply terrible. The crowd was thin, and we were in no rush, but the meal took about twice as long as it ought to have, with relentlessly slow service throughout. The waitress wasn't openly rude, but she clearly let her discomfort about the slowness show in testiness rather than in gracious apologeticness. There are lots of comparably-priced restaurants in the area with better food and efficient service. Try one of them. read more

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Mendon 64 transitioned to a Saturday night take-out option. We really want to support our local restaurants so we gave it a go. I cannot say enough about how delicious our meal was. We ordered the stuffed peppers, the flatbread and the jambalaya. The portions were incredibly generous. We had lots of leftovers to last us for the weekend. The peppers came with a spicy remoulade that was amazing. The fresh salads were delicious and perfectly dressed, chef made the flatbread vegetarian for us and it was incredible, and I cannot say enough about the jambalya - a perfect blend of spice and heat and amazing flavors. What a treat. Do yourself a favor and treat your family to a special meal from Mendon 64 - you will be happy you did! read more

This is now my favorite restaurant in the Rochester area. We just came home from a Saturday afternoon classic car cruise-in. Although turnout was light, everyone was friendly and welcoming. We think it's a great location, plenty of room and lots of potential to grow. While there we had dinner and enjoyed everything very much especially the clams casino and lobster roll. They may want to consider offering happy hour prices for beer and wine or other incentive to increase cruise-in attendance. The first thing I would like to say is that the food is excellent but the atmosphere it is served in is not. What little decor it has is half assed. Beautiful tables and chairs with dated old worn curtains on the windows. The rotating so called artwork (I kid you not but there were vinyl records with pictures glued on them hanging up as artwork) adds nothing to the atmosphere. The music was turned off during our appetizer portion and never returned. I actually put my phone on the table with my own music playing. For some people all that is needed in a restaurant is good food but when I'm paying upwards of $35.00 a plate I should have a nice environment to dine in. I most likely will not return and cannot in good conscious recommend this restaurant. read more

Great place to eat, as soon as you walk in you feel like you're a part of a family. The service is amazing and so polite. The food is the best part their fillets are the best I've ever had, and their wide variety for desserts is truly outstanding. This is one of our favorite local places. They are a great addition to the community. The food is always amazing and they always have a new creative seasonal menu as well as specials. It's hard to narrow some what to order when you go there. I ordered the seasonal salmon when I was there last. Loved the addition of the coconut rice for the summer. It was cooked perfectly. The entire staff is always friendly and attentive. Always make sure you save room for dessert when you go there. All of the desserts are made by their pastry chef and I have never been disappointed! Greeted by a pleasant host, we were seated and chef Kevin arrived at our table and asked if we had any questions about the menu. We did and a sample appetizer plate was provided which was very nice . our server Susan was very helpful with the drink menu. We went on to order the fish special which was wonderful. Served with a slight crust on the top and a perfect inner temperature. The sides were all healthy and my partner and I ordered different sides. Our server delivered the plates correctly which avoided the awkward passing of plates around among customers. After dinner we were presented with a wonderful dessert menu. The desserts were all interesting and delightful. Mendon 64 has its own pastry chef and it shows. The desserts were wonderful, served with very excellent decaf coffee. We left the restaurant with our appetites satisfied but not feeling like we had over eaten. I recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or just a wonderful dining experience. read more

My husband took me to dinner for my birthday and it was beyond perfect...if that's possible. The dining room is a great size and not overcrowded. I love the local artwork on the walls and the cozy fireplace. The meal was fantastic and the service was great! read more

The dining room is very loud. A party of 40 that took up 2 long tables was sat right next to us as we were trying to celebrate my daughters birthday. At that point we could not even hear each other speak. Tenderloin came out medium well instead of medium rare. One of us ordered the salmon which was very bland and definitely farm raised. Not a good piece of fish. The tenderloin was sent back and the chef butterflied her replacement so it now was a thin piece of meat with cold blue cheese on top. It should have been crusted with the blue cheese but since it was made "on the fly" it had to cook incorrectly. I had the duck which was just mediocre. Not much taste and the sweet potato hash was not a good side for the duck. Did not taste the bacon in it at all. Nothing was great and not worth the money we paid. It was an annoying evening overall. Upsets me to no end to pay a lot of money for an evening out and be let down by atmosphere and the food that was served. read more

We are on our way home from m64 and I am extremely aggravated. We sat outside and the atmosphere was pleasant. It was cold so we got a blanket from the car. The waiter though nice was unattentive. We ordered our drinks and appetizer & meal all at once. The drinks came after a while but the food took forever. I ordered a soup & salad asking for my salad first then my soup, my husband ordered an entree. We ordered a calamari to share as an app. After about an hour wait the soup came out and my husbands meal was set down between us announced as the calamari?? It was a noodle dish clearly not calamari. Our drinks were never refilled, and I never got my salad or calamari. Very disappointed to say the least. When we told them we never got the majority of our order they said they were sorry but it was very busy. They comped my husbands beer that took forever to get. Very disappointed! We were really looking forward to trying this place. I spoke to the manager when he was outside checking on the party next to us that NEVER even got waited on??? He said yeah we're very busy we prob should have not served out here tonight. Worthless management! read more
