My family arrived at 7:55 PM, just before the time when the $7 special applies after 8 PM. There were no signs indicating that entrance time affected the promotion, and the staff did not inform us of this policy when we entered. If we have known we would have gone back outside and waited 5 minutes. When we approached the cashier to pay, we were told that the discount could not be applied because we entered before 8 PM, although, when we're ready to pay was 8:06 pm. Additionally, the staff's behavior was unfortunately unprofessional and dismissive. I hope this was not due to our race, but it was concerning to see a different treatment with another white family that entered right behind us (which was at 7:55 pm) and they did get the promotion. My son and I have started enjoying Menchies as an after school treat and it is such a fun location! The employees here are warm, welcoming, and never fail to make me smile. The variety of frozen yogurts are delicious and my son loves to pick different toppings and make up his own mixes and flavors. They seem very much to support local community based on the overflowing local event boards. I loved that they do a "Happy Hour" event on Friday evenings where you can get a cup for $7. You know what they say "I scream, you scream, and we scream, and scream and scream"...the screaming just never ends for ice cream! I love ice cream and froyo which is essentially ice cream made with yogurt much as the words "frozen yogurt" suggests. It's really nice to get a creamy cold treat that has some health benefits to it. I don't stop in quite as often as I used to but I still enjoy coming here. They have some great flavors .. I'm a chocolate lover so I tend to go towards rich chocolatey flavors like the mudslide pie and Nutella but I also swirl in another flavor with them like the banana pudding or cake batter- they're pretty great combined. The toppings are plentiful.. they have gummies, nuts, sprinkles and chocolate candies, fruit, boba and brownie bites among others as well as cool whip, chocolate and caramel syrup and marshmallow fluff ! I kind of wish they'd update their flavors a little more often as most times I come here I see a lot of the same stuff over and over again even though they're flavors are on rotation. When I first came here years ago I really enjoyed a toasted marshmallow flavor they had and I haven't seen that as in option here in maybe five or six years now. I didn't give 5 stars because a cup of yogurt here can get pretty damn expensive... I didn't even fill up my cup all the way and I still paid $8 for my froyo so that's something to take into consideration if you're trying to treat the kiddos to froyo but you're on a bit of a tight budget. Price isn't bad if it's just a treat you get once in a while but I don't know many people who could visit regularly when it's much more cost efficient to go to your local grocery store and get a big tub of ice cream or froyo there for a bit less or the same cost of a cup here and have enough to either feed your entire family dessert at home or enough for you yourself to eat out of for a few days. Staff here are friendly and keep the place looking clean. If you're in the area and looking for a sweet treat I would still recommend them. read more

This is the only Menchie's location I have been to that offers this which is pretty awesome. I always have a great experience at this location and it's always neat/tidy with stocked toppings. Menchie's climbed to the top of my tasty treat list after this awesome visit. They are handling social distancing like champions! The young ladies working today were disinfecting and cleaning regularly between customers, it was the absolute best! All of the toppings are pre measures and put into individual serving cups. I do not believe they are allowing samples at this time which is great in my eyes; People don't know how to get samples without making a mess and cross contaminating everything. It's hard for franchise owners to hire and retain consistent good help. Friday night fill up is no exception to this location. Turnover shows up in the quality of the pour in the yogurt dispenser. Sometimes runny lately. They are concerned some customers overfill on the Friday night special so they are now telling them they have to pay full price if the lid cannot go on the cup. It's too bad they are not making enough money at this location to worry about how full a customer makes their cup. I get it. I love the Froyo here, although I'd love to see them change out the flavors more. The setup to get through the line can be confusing, and gets frustrating. While most of their toppings are fresh, I encountered some funky tasting cheesecake bites. I definitely recommend taste testing the flavors before getting crazy, because some flavors don't taste right or don't taste like what they should. Taste! Taste! Taste! Although I have to agree that this is an awesome treat for kids, getting through the line with 2 kids isn't the easiest thing in the world. Also, I kind of wished they had kid sized cups, because kids will be kids, they wanted to fill the "one size fits all" cups to the brim. Ugh. I lived in LA for almost a year and a half and never been to a Menchies. I saw it around but always ended up going to some different FROYO place. I heard from my sister that there was a Menchies that opened up in Puyallup (where I am from originally- sort of). I decided to change my sister bonding time (at Baskin Robbins) to Menchies! I can't believe how CUTE the bathroom... doors were haha! the Menchies character in male and female! The interior was really cute too! I wanted to sample the kahlua FROYO and pressed the lever... but it just.. spilled out more than a sample! My sister was like... "that's more than enough haha" Well, I got some of the kahlua (which I really liked), original tart, watermelon, and strawberry? I think. I saw some pink bubbles in the sprinkles section and tried it.. at first.. it is interesting because it melts in your mouth instantly. Later... after like 10.... it tastes like soap or shampoo. I do like the cheesecake bites! Yumm.. What I don't like about is FROYO ... is that they.. melt so fast!! I wish it would be more frozen or stiff... :) Definitely coming back here. read more

Nothing like getting ripped off by the local custard hut. Sign on the door says cash only, our CC system is down, fully intended on paying in cash, but asked by the teen cashier (trying to solve the CC issue) to pay by card to see if the system was up. No luck, oh well, paid 20 bucks in cash. All was well. On the way home I received a transaction alert from my bank stating that the custard hut, charged my card. A stop light later and I pulled a "legal" u-turn and went back to the hut. The teen that took my order didn't really have an explanation and that there were no managers on duty to issue a refund to my card, that it would have to wait until Monday when a manager was back on duty. So I left my name and #, and surprise, no call back or refund issued on Monday. Called again on Tuesday, surprise again, no manager on duty, left my name and number again for a return call, it has been a week, here we are Tuesday after next and no manager calls or refunds. How can a business leave their assets and reputations to employees that either have no authority or responsibility to take care of issues, or not have management that is present or at least phoning it in. I don't blame the kids, but I do blame the ownership. Shame on you. Hope the 20 bucks aids you in finding some help. As a follow up. After this review was posted, my card was refunded the amount that was charged in error. Unfortunately it took a bad review to prompt action. read more

In my first post, I only rated Menchies with 2 stars and now I'm back and only giving you 2 stars since I can't give you 1.5 stars. So, I'm really giving 1.5 stars for their yogurt and 0.5 for service. I came last night on a Wednesday and it's probably because of the free waffle bowl deal that they have, hence the shop being pretty busy, but not as crazy as my first visit. Sadly, a family came in before me and was taking up so much room and taking forever picking their flavors, I didn't get a chance to taste test anything. Plus, one of the staff was cleaning the machines which was silly considering a bunch of people showed after I came in and she literally DID NOT MOVE or apologize. I have to say, their yogurt and flavors are both pretty good. I got fruit punch sorbet, luscious lemon, green apple swirled with pure tart and dulce de leche. Topped it off with some granola, fresh strawberries (and they were really fresh and juicy!), fresh blueberries and of course rainbow mochi balls! Now, my biggest pet peeve is bad customer service and that is exactly what I received tonight. When it was my turn to pay, the girl behind the register didn't even acknowledge me.. no hello, no how are you. Actually, she was too busy chatting about the customers before me with her coworkers! She ran my Menchies card, told me my amount, told me how many points I have, gave me my change and said whatever generic goodbye the company they have them say, ALL without a smile on her face. Sure, it could of been a lot worse, but I saw more of the back of her head then her face. The manager needs to come out of her hiding and teach these girls the basics of customer service. Flavor options are a miss at this location. They have 2-3 kinds of vanilla and chocolate flavors each but only three fruit flavors at most. The place was sticky and not very clean. They had no water available to customers like most frozen yogurt places do. The notion of which you don't offer water to your customers means more than likely you don't care if they stay. It didn't seem like a good hangout spot just a place to eat frozen yogurt and leave. Luckily the frozen yogurt was at a good quality and not too runny or airy. They do have a good variety of gluten-free and vegan friendly product but as for vegan friendly product they only have two flavors. This place is friendly for people allergic to nuts. So overall it was a so-so experience the 5 times I had visited this location. read more

This is one of the better fro-yo places in Puyallup. Good choices of toppings. They rotate their fro-yo flavors. Downside it seems like the fro-yo is always still freezing.....in other words I always get somewhat melty fro-yo. Just pay per ounce at the end and leave with a belly full of happy. Their flavors are AMAZING - They really have great flavor profiles and when they name something, it actually tastes like that thing. "Takes the Cake Batter" tastes like cake batter, Cinnabon tastes like a Cinnabon, Pineapple Upside-Down Cake tastes just like it - Not just pineapple. The Spiced Chai Latte needed a little bit stronger flavor, but was otherwise good. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: The Cookie Dough Monster frozen is DISGUSTING. I LOVE cookie dough and this stuff literally tastes like nail polish remover smells. It has a horrible taste and worse after-taste. This location sits on a corner in the front part of Sunrise Village. Street parking can be a little challenging, but not impossible. I've never been here on a Friday or Saturday night, so I imagine it gets quite crowded. The store has a nice amount of seating, and there is outdoor seating for the warmer days. This location has 14 flavors of self-serve frozen yogurt, priced at $0.47 per ounce. Some of the flavors on today's visit included P.B.'s Cup, Takes the Cake Batter, Pineapple Dole Whip, Rockin' Salted Caramel, Caramel Coconut Cookie Craze, Pink Lemonade, Cinnayum Bun, Apple of my Pie, German Chocolate Cake, Pure Tart, and Green Apple Tart. As for toppings, there are more than 60 varieties of chocolate, candy, cereal, granola, fruit, and nuts. They even have freshly baked waffle bowls if you want a little bit of crunch in your cup. One of the toppings I was excited to see is chocolate dipped strawberries. I go to a lot of Menchie's locations, but this is the first time I have seen this offered. Yum! The one thing I wish they would change is the type of whipped cream they offer. They offer Cool-Whip which is served in a bin on the chill bar, and it's not always the most appetizing to look at. There are several occasions, especially when the shop is busy, that other toppings end up in the Cool-Whip or the spoon comes in contact with the yogurt in someone's cup and then gets placed back into the Cool-Whip bin. I got Cool-Whip today and it looked pretty fresh, but when I bit into it I found a Boba surprise. That was a bit of a bummer. I'd much prefer whipped topping out of a dispenser so that this type of problem is eliminated, but evidently Cool-Whip is a Menchie's requirement. Service is very pleasant and friendly, and the store is clean and inviting. Menchie's offers a mySmileage rewards program that will allow customers to earn Menchie's money through their yogurt purchases. There is also a military discount offered, and they partipate with the Pirq loyalty app for smartphones. read more
