Five stars hands-down I went to the dentist this morning right up the street and told them they need to start coming here and getting their donuts stop going to high large corporate chains when they buy donuts for their staff.

I tried them in the past apparently because I have photos associated to that visit (even bought a dozen). I obviously didn't remember until I started writing this review. First the location is pretty easy to reach. Small strip mall store front off Portland Ave. I walked in and there were two people ahead of me but no seating and hardly room to view the selection. There is a plastic COVID screen still up and pictures of people who have stolen from them. The selection of donuts is decent and apparently on the weekends there are speciality fritters. The owner operators are kind and so helpful (high praises!). I ordered one blueberry donut and one banana fritter. Both appeared to be well cooked and scrumptious. However, each of the donuts were over fried and tasted like old grease. The blueberry cake was full of blueberries but no real blueberry taste. The fritter was soaked in grease and no banana flavor. Sadly this is not on my list to try again.

It's like they looked at all the successful ice cream shops with the ice cream on display up front and said, let's do the exact opposite. Let's push the ice cream up against the back wall out of sight and then have customers guess what it looks like. They can choose whatever flavors we make up on the chalk board. Eye catching visuals don't matter On top of that, they have customers come in through one door on the side and then exit through a sliding glass door which has people standing in front of it because there is no where else to wait. Truly a bizarre and awkward execution all around which seems to make their poor employees easily flustered when things get busy. Their ice cream isn't worth mentioning really. We all found it flavorless and icy. We won't be giving them a third chance.

It's close to public parking that can get busy but we didn't have much trouble finding a place to park. I loved the ice cream flavor options available and of course, the premise of house-made ice cream. We each tried our own individual flavors and cones and we did enjoy most of them. Flavor wise this ice cream is there and is what most would seek out. It's there, it's bold and it's good. Where their ice cream missed for me was in the actual texture and creaminess. I found ice chunks in my mocha ice cream and that was a big disappointment to me. I want my ice cream to be ultra creamy and smooth not chunky and hard. It was a bit of a disappointment especially given the high price point.

It's quiet enough but they had a great playlist on when I was in here which I thoroughly enjoyed. The service was great and kind and she brought my order to my table for me since I ordered food which was appreciated. I got a vanilla latte and their breakfast sandwich which comes with bacon, egg, cheese, spinach, and a pesto aioli. The pesto aioli definitely ties the whole sandwich together and was a great pop of flavor. I'm a pesto fan in general so I loved it. The latte was also delicious, no complaints. Overall was a great visit and their WiFi is fast and easy to connect to. Adding this to the usual rotation!

We also got a hot chocolate with whipped cream and a 4oz frozen yogurt cup. It was self serve but unlike other froyo places there were no scales at the end. There is only 4-6 flavors, and we chose chocolate which had a good creamy texture and tasted like chocolate, no sour notes. We loaded it up with toppings and my daughter really enjoyed the experience to choose everything. We will get a larger cup next time I think. The place has good vibes, it feels like a good local spot, with plenty of welcoming touches. Service was prompt and it wasn't much of a wait. We will be back to try more since the location is great for the library or park activities.

My vegan friends who came to visit stopped by here twice during their time here and said it was the best vegan cake they've ever had. I love seeing what new cake slice flavors they release each month. I've tried lots of different flavors but my absolute favorite is pumpkin. I wish it was all year long! Best pumpkin cake I've ever had. You really cant go wrong with any flavor. The cake is so moist and flavorful, you can tell they use high quality ingredients. Spouse had a cheese cheddar scone - warm it when you get it home. I tried the vegan layered butter cream espresso cake - didn't care for it, to me it's a bit veganish - it just wasn't that good and not much espresso taste. I will make a better homemade cake to me that was a fail. Even for $12. A slice I won't eat it. I'm sure some of the others must have been better. You order, you stand and wait and still are guilted into at least a 15% tip. They don't have adequate parking and most is paid parking to run on and get a sweet treat . The pride flags - June is over - I think it might be an LGBTQ bakery, I didn't see one man working. It's larger than it appears, not for the customer area. It's clean, and the cashier is friendly enough. I disagree for having to feel I need to tip when I pay to park and walk 50 steps, and have to stand and wait for my order. I saw another poor review posted on the wall and then it was recindered (maybe after public humiliation they marked it thst way, I wasn't impressed with that it seems like bullying. My review will probably end up on the wall, but that's cool. I doubt I will be back.
