Had to buy a a generator, bought one a Menards. (Generac) for $800. Got it home and it was obviously returned. It of course wouldn't start. Tried to return it and some smart ass punk manager (Craig) refused to return it and said I needed to take it to a Gererac dealer. Actually said it was my problem now. See ya Menards! read more

If you haven't been to Menard's yet, give it a try. The selection is so much better than the other big box stores. For example, Menard's has at least 5x as much floor space dedicated to hand tools and power tools. (It seems pretty obvious - the people who are shopping at home improvement stores need tools. Menard's is apparently the only store to figure that out.) Their prices are competitive too, but the atmosphere is what really sets them apart - Menard's is actually a nice place that you can walk around in, unlike the dystopian orange and blue retail warehouses. read more

Menards SUCKS! They charged us a 25% restocking fee for something we ordered because they were out in their store. They have a spot in the lumber yard for it and because we "special order" it. We lost 25%. read more

I went in for the first time to the electrical department l was immediately approached by this young man named Chris. This guy was on point and he stopped what he was doing to help. Just off the highway and near a Meijers and a landfill, this store is easy to find. Menard's differentiates itself from the other home improvement stores by it's signature color, which is Monopoly House Green, reminding you that it costs money to make a home. The outside of the store is neat and tidy, as is most of Toledo. The customers don't run around in pajama bottoms like they do in Monroe, so that is refreshing. The people of Monroe are a race alone. Camo and pjs and hunting caps remind me of Elmer Fudd awakening from hibernation. But the people of Toledo dress sensibly. They realize that nail guns demand a change in wardrobe befitting their dangerous nature. Inside it it like almost all home improvement places, except the people of Toledo are serious and don't chatter. IT was tough to get them to smile. They politely reminded me that I needed to go in on the other side to fully experience the store correctly. Since I am from Monroe, I broke the rules. My sister was here to get a toilet seat and we didn't have time to waste. My brother in law was at home and needed to go ( to work, that is, and we wanted him to put it on). They store the toilets strangely here. They are displayed above eye level. So if you order one, you can only see the pedestal. You won't be able to do a trial run (maybe that's why they are up high) and will have to guesstimate how much thigh muscle activity you will have to do per use. The seats were below and my sister was disappointed that she couldn't get the $9.99 one so she had to settle on the $14.00 one. The great thing about Menard's is that they highlight American Made, so we were able to get one of those. Go USA! Since my sister is an HGTV fiend, we wandered around. They have a great lighting section and even lava lights and some cool solar lights that looked like Day Glo dandelions that I would love to see on a lawn. They also have a furniture area, and yes, lots of it is displayed up! Some cool no-edge canvas blowups of leaves and tulips and even greeting cards. But the best was the pantry!!! Yes, you can send your man to Menard's and he can come back with a seasoned pork roast. Cross it off the to-do list! That's what it said on the side of the cooler, really! Meal planning as a chore! Yummy! But they also had something I couldn't resist-Mikesell's Smoked Bacon Chips! Plus some Root Beer Float Popcorn! My Oscar shopping list was complete! Party on!! Best part was check out! The toilet seat was three dollars off! Yay!!! P.S. They have tattoo sleeves in the best buy area for $2.00! Great for the trip back to Monroe! read more

I didn't know exactly what I needed for fixing my lawnmower when I went in, but an older gentleman gave me his time, he told me everything I needed, and I bought it. Then when I tried to fix the lawnmower ... it worked! Nice store, great people, and it's very clean there, has a very nice atmosphere. The clerk was certainly knowledgable, and very willing to help. Sure the store brands cost less than nationally known, but they are all made in China... Not to say that is entirely bad but people don't go to Walmart for the same reasons. I went in and filed a paper application with the HR Lindsay. With in a couple days got called in for an interview.She along with 2 gentleman spent maybe 8 mins interviewing me telling me they had other interviews that week and would be making decisions after that. I waited for over 2 weeks, called her back to be told they had more interviews to complete.She never took my name at that time! I never heard back from her at all? I had over 30 yrs experience with the same job.I had just retired.I dealt with the public the whole time. I just needed a part-time job and hours? She was VERY unprofessional. And she's the Human Resource person on the Alexis Rd.store? I use to shop there at least once a month...I will not ever step into there store again!! Great store that blows Home Depot and Lowes prices out of the water in my opinion. Menards knows how to make the do-it-yourself man very happy. No nonsence, no rip off prices, no b.s. Mail in rebates are available if you want to save even more money on the already low prices. I drive extra from Monroe to go to Menards rather than shopping at the local Lowes. The lumber barn also has a good selection. read more

i love Menard's and shop there often. I did have a big problem with a subcontractor I found on a kiosk in the Menard's store. I ordered an entire house of replacement windows, signed a contract. It took weeks before the project began, first red flag. Some of the installed windows had very little caulk. Then I was told I had to pay extra to have the windows wrapped in aluminum. One window was not measured correct and had to be reordered. All the old windows and debris was left in a heap in the garage. To make a long story short, the job was never completed, although the contractor promised me he'd be back. At this point I did not want him to return. Menard's wouldn't help because he was a subcontractor. I filed a complaint with the BBB but to no avail, they would keep the complaint on file So, a word to the wise, choose your contractor carefully...get referrals. I learned the hard way read more

I have been in the rental property, handyman business for 10 years, and i have only shopped at Menards a a dozen times. So often have I found their products and service lacking. This last problem was this week when I went to order steel roofing for a house. The roofing "specialist" is probably a good guy, but seemed hard of hearing, which I cannot blame him for, except that he did not hear my order, asking me "What?" several times during the process. Since this was the first time I have ever ordered a product for delivery from the store, I assumed the order would be to my specifications, which I laid out carefully 25-30 minutes it took to ensure the order was filled. When the delivery arrived, the delivery driver did not place the materials where I instructed him to just minutes before. Given this experience, i would highly recommend for shoppers to go elsewhere for the home repir needs. read more

First, I'll say that I'm a professional building contractor, and while Menards contractor program was still in effect, I could call my my rep Todd, out of the Oregon, OH store and he would always go out of his way to help me in any way necessary. Now they've phased out the contractor program, and the professional builder who is spending tens to hundreds of thousands, is left to deal with the lumber jockeys in the building department to assist them with everything from special order materials, to complete footing to rooftop builds, with absolutely no accountability, nor authority. Not Good. After they phased out said contractor prog., I stopped doing the bulk of my shopping at Menards, but had no choice but to purchase $3000.00 worth of an expensive special order vinyl deck ceiling called zip-up, from the Toledo store. I placed the order, and after it arrived, I went in to pick it up. Upon being presented with my order, the first thing I noticed was that the order had several white cardboard "flaps" taped to the boxes. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the "flaps" used to be upright cardboard cones which clearly stated in bold-type "DO NOT STACK ANYTHING ON TOP OF THIS BOX", and now were merely dangling crushed pieces of cardboard. Of course this merited a close inspection of my 3K worth of vinyl. I quickly noticed that all of the boxes which had been neatly stacked, and secured by the distributor, were now all smashed, and covered in dirt, footprints, gouges, scrapes, and scuffs of every kind. I opened the topmost box and careful slid the contents out only to find that the previously mentioned funk was present, in it's entirety, inside the box as well. My thought process is; if the first box of stuff is messed up, the rest is as well. I concluded my inspection, went back inside and spoke with the manager, and assistant man.of the building department, who asked me to list for them all of the individual items in the order that were damaged. WTF? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? You guys completely butcher a 3k special order, that completely screws me on my job, not to mention me getting paid, and you want me to go sort through the order to determine what YOU screwed up? Have these morons lost their minds, or did they never have them??? I calmly said; "No, I'm not doing your job for you. You can sort out the order". They then asked if I simply wanted them to re-order the entire shipment, and I replied yes absolutely. I asked if they could put a rush on it since this was their fault, and they stated they would see what they could do, and call me to let me know, as soon as they knew something. I had to call back the Asst. Man. the following morning to see what the deal was, and he says he went through the ENTIRE order, and can find nothing wrong with any of it. Again, WTF??? what about the whole box of crap I left next to the pallet that was all damaged? I hear, "oh, I must. have missed that"even the he'd just told me that he had reviewed the entire order, from the list. I'm then told that he will re-order those pieces only, get it rushed in, and he will call me back as soon as he has a delivery date.......................A week goes by, and I call in to find out where the hell my order is, only to find out that yes, my 5 pieces were ordered. They will take 3 weeks to get, even though the original order only took 1 week,but Oops they screwed up yet again, and put the rest of the original order in the bargain bin, and now it's all screwed up, and the entire order has to be replaced. Never before have I dealt with this level of incompetence, lack of professionalism, or outright disrespect of others time, and resources. It should further be duly noted that throughout this entire process, I have yet to receive even the slightest inkling of an apology. In fact, I am now wondering if it's Menards policy never to apologize to their customers. IF you can go in and shop the store without assistance of any kind, you might be OK, but I wouldn't count on it! read more

My wife and I went to this Menards to look into buying a product called Nova Brik. We went to the special order desk and started asking questions about the product. We found out the product was on sale, and also had a rebate. So far so good as the price for a pallet is 598.00. Final cost for a pallet would be 550.00 minus 100.00 in store rebate. So in reality you are still paying almost full price, but the accessories I was going to need would be paid for with the rebate. Good. We were then informed there was a "pallet" in the discount area in the yard and we should go look at it. We did. Turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. The price on the "pallet was 590.00. Went back inside and asked how they could ask full price for a product that had been returned/could not be sold as new. So they dropped the price as I told them I was also going to order two more pallets. Deal? They delivered all three pallets a week later, and as the truck pulled up to the house, I was sick to my stomach. The pallet that they sold us from the yard as a full pallet, was NOT a full pallet. Turned out to be 192 briks short. Called the store and talked to the dept. manager and I was told too bad. Not good enough answer. Talked to the store manager, too bad was his response also. Sent an email off to corporate, too bad was also their response. So, Menards stole 240.00 from us and they refuse to do anything about it. Lesson learned, no more Menards for me. Over the past few years I would guess that we have spent close to 10,000 in Menards stores, and they are going to lose it over 240.00. read more
