We remodeled a home and purchased all of our appliances from Durochers in Sylvania working with Kevin Myers. The appliances we purchased were a Wolf range, Wolf refrigerator, Cove dishwasher, two smaller under counter fridge units and two washers and two dryers. $50k in appliances. The beginning was fine, The showroom was nice and Kevin seemed knowledgeable about all of the appliances. The problems we encountered were with customer service, disrespectful email communications and final results. The first problem was the washer and dryer - we had two sets that were to be stacked. We clearly explained the plan at the time of purchase and Kevin recommended the Maytag. However once delivered and due to the design (a tilted top panel) when they were stacked we could not reach the controls on the top. We did not see this at the time of delivery because Durocher's was scheduled to deliver the washers/dryers on a Thursday and didn't show, I waited around all day for them. Then they delivered on a Friday while I was not there. As soon as I saw them I called Kevin and told him the problem. He gave us a huge runaround and tried to tell me we had selected them and they couldn't just keep switching them. (HUH?) Then he said they were out of the box so he couldn't exchange them (we were not moved into the house, never touched or used, all stickers on the units). What was worse - during the delivery they severely scratched up our custom cabinets built for these units and just left without telling us as if we wouldn't notice. I called about getting the cabinets repaired - they did not initiate the repair nor were they helpful, telling us the company which made them Snow Cabinets (another huge headache) wouldn't repair them although we sent emails requesting such because they had made them. Instead they sent a man that applied a green-grey oil stick that does not match and that's how they left it. What's worse is they didn't get us an exchange until almost a month later, at which point we were moved into the house but forced to go to the laundromat because according to Kevin it was the holidays and he would work on it after. When I would call Kevin to get the exchange he would tell me about all of the customer appointments he had that day and that he would call later. He then sent me an unbelievable email stating nobody in this town wants to work with me which I'm sharing below in photos. Wow. Last - and icing on the cake - is they tried charging us $400 for late payment (second half of our payment) because we refused to pay until we had the new washer and dryer. Unbelievable and another Wow. The other appliances worked fine with the exception of a $20k fridge which they hooked up wrong so it leaked on our new hardwood floors. And we paid the extra service fee to have them install all of our appliances. If there was a negative star selection I'd give them that rating. Also the rude and what I feel is a form of abusive treatment to women amongst vendors in the contractor world in this area should not be tolerated by any woman. They (vendors/contractors) all know one another and gossip and make labels based upon gossip without knowing true facts - such poor business practices. At the end I asked Kevin to please just email my husband because he was not given the same runaround. A quality business would have appreciated the amount of money we spent, resolved issues promptly and without hassle, and treated us respectfully as customers. Do not recommend. read more

Dissatisfied would be an understatement. I went in with my disabled parents to purchase new furniture from multiple rooms. They don't want to give any discounts for anything, even though the prices are outrageous. I got a very small discount for paying cash then come to find out they sold me a full bedroom outfit that they discontinued.The sales associate even called the owner to confirm that the pricing was correct and I was still sold the outfit that didn't have.The associate called me two weeks later to let me know that they no longer sell the bedroom outfit. Obviously I was a little upset and all she could say is well it's not my fault. Then whose fault was it? So I requested a refund which was difficult to get, even after spending almost $6000 and getting refunded 4000 they thought it was acceptable to only give me $38 discount when it was originally 102. I needed a new stove and I just went to Durocher's with $800 in hand to buy one. I wanted to support a locally owned business. I didn't dress up to go shopping. Just jeans and a t-shirt. I walked in and the sales lady working at a desk in the middle of the store briefly looked up. No "Hello" no "How can I help you?" no "Be with you in a moment." I walked over to the stoves, opening oven doors, opening drawers, etc. Not very loud but not noiseless. I waited quite a while. Found one I liked with no price tag. As I am waiting another couple my age came in and the woman at the desk jumped up to help them. They were barely in the door. I decided to just leave, with my money. The couple left the same time as I did and the saleswoman finally talked to me when I was complaining to the couple about the service. She said she didn't see me. She should at least heard me. I guess I will be going to Lowe's. I know $800 is just petty cash to them, but if that is how you treat people, working with a locally owned business is not worth it. read more

Update - I was able to get in contact with the service manager. He agreed the charges were excessive and went above and beyond by sending us a check for $69. I really appreciate this kind of follow through, it really reflects the genuine care and concern about satisfying the customer. My husband and I used this company to buy 6 new appliances when we built our new home. Sales guy was very friendly and knowledgeable. As soon as the one year warranty was up, our dishwasher heating element broke. They showed no mercy with covering the broke appliance but promptly sent out a repairman who charged us $230 for a tiny little part that took less than 5 minutes to replace. About a month later the top rack of the same appliance falls apart. This time our salesperson cuts us a break and says they will cover the replacement part. A month goes by I still haven't received the rack so I have to make an inquiry call. "Oh we just got it in." (Ya right!) at any rate the next week a big box arrives but it's not the top rack but the BOTTOM rack. Another month goes by and I have some serious dishpan hands but no rack! I wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. My wife and I have now been waiting 10 months for the refrigerator we paid for. Every time we inquire about the status of our order we either get attitude, get the run around, or both. Additionally, Kevin Meyers is the epitome of a used car salesman. He will lie, cheat, and steal to make a sale without regard to how his actions affect people. We've now been living in our new home, without refrigeration, since October. He was not pushy but when it came time to ask some questions he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He was very transparent with how the transaction would work with when the items would be shipped out and made the experience a breeze. Jerry and Donovan were very professional delivery servers. They delivered my new washer and dryer to my basement, and removed the old set. They did not disrupt the paint on my walls, or the finish on my steps. They were prompt and courteous. Followed by the installer, who was also very prompt, they had a very kind demeanor. When we built our home in 2001, as a first-time customer, we purchased all of our kitchen and laundry appliances, bedroom furniture, as well as TV and stereo equipment from this company. That turned out to be one of the very best decisions we have ever made. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and never tries to sell you one particular brand or another. And over the years as we've needed a service call or two, we found their service department to be among the best anywhere. Here it is almost 14 years later and some of our original 2001 appliances are due to be replaced - not because they stopped working - rather, we're tired of them and just want to update. We STILL buy from Durocher; most recently a Bosch dishwasher and just this week, a new TV for the kids room. Stores with the "down-home" sales and service that is offered by Durocher TV and Appliance are far and few between; something greatly lacking at big-box stores. A simple drain line replacement for a 6-month-old appliance was a nightmare and took 4 weeks to complete. We've bought multiple products from this store but that has come to an end. You CANNOT get prompt service with Durocher's. We had already diagnosed the problem and communicated that on the first call. The service tech insisted it was a pump motor, only to much later discover that it was, in fact, the drain line. Then he tried to charge us the same amount for the drain line as the cost of the unneeded motor! Not everyone works hard for their money. I suggest you go elsewhere! read more

We spent $20K+ outfitting a new home with kitchen appliances from Durocher's. Bought high end Thermador gas stove, double oven and dishwasher. The refrigerator we bought was a Kitchen Aid. Problems with the refrigerator resulted in 3 attempts at repair (with damage to our wood floors from pulling out the appliance) before it was replaced. Double oven took forever to reach temperature and wouldn't keep consistent temp when it finally did. A trip to Monroe put us in contact with a service manager who promised to look into the floor damage and send out a repairman to check to oven. Repairman replaced the thermostat which I thought would be a no-charge visit. We received a bill for $320 for the call and the part. We just tried to self clean the oven and it errored out. Thermador says it's likely the thermostat. Can't believe customer service like I just described is consistent with good business practices. So sorry we traveled to Michigan, spent this money, only to be treated like this. Never again... read more

We have a completely different experience with this appliance store than other posted reviews have expressed. Things can and do go wrong and it is time consuming and frustrating to get the right answers and service. It takes so much patience when things go terribly wrong. And, yes, things can and do break right after a warranty period expires. We had the same thing happen with an extremely reputable brand name refrigerator and dishwasher and, alas, even the stove. Some of it the store was able to help us with. What we found most helpful when the store was not able to provide us with the parts at no cost, was to contact the manufacturer and the needed parts were then supplied to us at no cost. The manufacturer, of course, did not have to do this either. It's all about the bottom line these days, service calls are rarely free when a part fails, and to keep loyal customers a store needs to be on top of customer service, especially an independent store. Hopefully, Durocher's will continue or make very needed improvements to provide customer satisfaction so as not to leave a customer with ill feelings such as expressed by the honest reviews posted previously. However, not everything can be replaced or parts or repair given for free. Another helpful tip is to try to use the same salesperson each time you purchase an item. The salesperson gets to know and appreciate their customer's loyalty and will often bend over backwards to help management take steps to please their customer, but do try to understand that even they have limits on how much they can influence management.. It's also noteworthy that others we know have had similar (or worse) experiences with brand name appliances and have failed in their effort to get big box stores to help them resolve the issues. read more

This place is horrible. I want so bad to be able to support a local business but they've repeatedly screwed up ever chance I've given them. Four or five or six major purchases. The screw ups start with the pervasive attitude that whatever salesperson sold the item is responsible for all followup. If that person isn't available, good luck, especially if its the college kid that only works Saturday that sold you that kitchen full of appliances or if he's at a convention in Vegas for a week. Service guy leaves with our dryer broken worse than it was when he arrived. Appliances delivered with a problem...they want you to wait days for service. Quoted installed pricing...it suddenly changes, and not because they came out and saw different conditions, it just did. Sold a mattress...they deliver the wrong size then don't have the right one. Heck took them 3 trips to my house to put a standard light bulb in my new fridge because they wouldn't believe me that it was a standard appliance bulb because "the book" showed something different, and then only after numerous phone calls to get them to do it. No joke, 3 trips. Sales people don't talk to each other. Warehouse doesn't talk to sales. Parts doesn't talk to the warehouse. I've expressed that this is a major issue to management more than once, but yet again yesterday I call about a small order, which they charged me for, told me it would take a few weeks, then never called to say was available and the first question I get is "who's your sales person?" Every time I've gotten the run around at best and sometimes I've just been ignored until I demand to speak to Chris Durocher himself. To be fair, at that point he's gone above and beyond to fix it, but frankly by the time we get to that point I've put so much effort into the purchase he should. The shame is they are all nice people, they are just dysfunctional as a team. Most recent appliance purchase was from Lowe's and it was the easiest I've ever had. Going there from now on. read more

We did not have a good experience with Durocher re fixing our refrigerator. As our refrigerator and freezer was not cooling/freezing, their serviceman was out several times; and each time the appliance was not fixed properly. Consequently, we lost refrigerator/freezers full of food during this process. On our last service call, we had a different serviceman. Fortunately, Rick serviced the refrigerator and repaired It correctly. Since there was a bulletin sent out by the manufacturer regarding problems with our particular model, we are not sure why this problem was not diagnosed correctly by the first serviceman. Instead, weeks went by with several unsuccessful attempts. Very frustrating and loss of food was expensive. Should you have to deal with Durocher's for service, I recommend you always request Rick as your serviceman. read more
