We decided to go through Gladieux because of the personal service we knew we would receive. We are so thankful that we did! They have been right there helping every step of the way. They know us by name when we come into the store, and it's obvious that they really care about our project. We might have gotten a few better deals at a big box store, but there is no replacing the customer service we have received from Gladieux.

Not to mention the inside of the of the store was not set up for the average customer. I reluctantly went back this past weekend looking for a new hedge trimmer and was amazed. The help was phenomenal and the store has been transitioned into a very user friendly place with many updates. I used to avoid this place but not any more.

Just off the highway and near a Meijers and a landfill, this store is easy to find. Menard's…read moredifferentiates itself from the other home improvement stores by it's signature color, which is Monopoly House Green, reminding you that it costs money to make a home. The outside of the store is neat and tidy, as is most of Toledo. The customers don't run around in pajama bottoms like they do in Monroe, so that is refreshing. The people of Monroe are a race alone. Camo and pjs and hunting caps remind me of Elmer Fudd awakening from hibernation. But the people of Toledo dress sensibly. They realize that nail guns demand a change in wardrobe befitting their dangerous nature. Inside it it like almost all home improvement places, except the people of Toledo are serious and don't chatter. IT was tough to get them to smile. They politely reminded me that I needed to go in on the other side to fully experience the store correctly. Since I am from Monroe, I broke the rules. My sister was here to get a toilet seat and we didn't have time to waste. My brother in law was at home and needed to go ( to work, that is, and we wanted him to put it on). They store the toilets strangely here. They are displayed above eye level. So if you order one, you can only see the pedestal. You won't be able to do a trial run (maybe that's why they are up high) and will have to guesstimate how much thigh muscle activity you will have to do per use. The seats were below and my sister was disappointed that she couldn't get the $9.99 one so she had to settle on the $14.00 one. The great thing about Menard's is that they highlight American Made, so we were able to get one of those. Go USA! Since my sister is an HGTV fiend, we wandered around. They have a great lighting section and even lava lights and some cool solar lights that looked like Day Glo dandelions that I would love to see on a lawn. They also have a furniture area, and yes, lots of it is displayed up! Some cool no-edge canvas blowups of leaves and tulips and even greeting cards. But the best was the pantry!!! Yes, you can send your man to Menard's and he can come back with a seasoned pork roast. Cross it off the to-do list! That's what it said on the side of the cooler, really! Meal planning as a chore! Yummy! But they also had something I couldn't resist-Mikesell's Smoked Bacon Chips! Plus some Root Beer Float Popcorn! My Oscar shopping list was complete! Party on!! Best part was check out! The toilet seat was three dollars off! Yay!!! P.S. They have tattoo sleeves in the best buy area for $2.00! Great for the trip back to Monroe!

I ordered over $2000 of wood to be delivered to a job. The day I ordered it, they took my money,…read morecharged the delivery fee and promised a Monday delivery. I was ecstatic at how quickly they could do this. A few hours later, they called and left a message saying the delivery will now be on Tuesday. Phew, Glad I was available (insert sarcasm). Then on Monday, I get another call saying that not all of material would be available for delivery. Wait, what??? You took my money, promised me a Monday delivery, then made it Tuesday without checking if that was doable, then the day before ... OOPS, we don't have the material that you actually paid for. I asked, what can you do for me to rectify the matter or at least show that you are sorry for the mistake that you made. Their answer, absolutely nothing. They wouldn't even waive the delivery fee. Really? Is this the way you deal with contractor services? I will never use Menard's for construction materials being delivered to a job again. This is reprehensible. I understand mistakes can be made. But then to tell the customer, oh well, we aren't going to make it right by you. I judge a company by how well they manage their mistakes. This time Menard's and their guy Cameron failed miserably.

I was called about my blower and…read morewas told it is over 10 years old they just pulled the cord once and said they did not open it because it was not worth fixing. I understand that, but I paid $35.00 for the blower and $35.00 for the snowblower to just get checked out for a total of $70.00 for the pair. So when I went to pick up the snowblower I told them since the blower was junk and they really did not do any diagnosis to it they should credit the $35.00 for the blower to the cost of the snowblower. They refused to do it and said they still consider it has a diagnosis even thought they did not do anything except pull the cord once. So Fred Pro Hardware just lost a loyal customer... over $35.00.

It didnt as the Mfg. website says its not for my application. I took it back (w/o a sales slip) and I was told he wouldn't take it back without one even though their unusual yellow price tag was obviously from them. He said MILLIONS of retailers use that tag, how could he be sure it was from them. REALLY!? So, I dug around and found the slip. I took it back today and now he says he "doesn't" want to take it back, its been over a month. Yes, by two days. I asked where was it posted that that was their policy? It's not on the pillar with other return info, nor is it on the sales receipt. He said after a month his supplier wouldn't take it back. I said its in perfect working order and can go back on his shelf. He just started making excuses. Its pretty sad when you try to support small business instead of big box stores and they act like this. $15 was the return amount. They must be pretty hard up for cash to jack a new costumer around like that over fifteen bucks. I will NEVER support them again, nor recommend them. So BEWARE, they have a "selective" return policy. If business has been slow, I'm sure he'll find an excuse why they "don't want to" take it back. Better to have my $15 once,Can't then my return business I guess.

When I looked into getting my new computer set up, I was highly enthusiastic about this company's…read morelocation in Holland Ohio; having met an older, customer oriented man who I assumed was the owner. However, based on my initial experience, when I went back at another time, to get another computer fixed, I got a very different unexpected vibe. Having experienced a curt, rude, dark haired, middle-aged man that did not really want, or could care less if he had my business. Recommended by a faith based institutional customer, who was shocked to hear how I was treated, as a senior I was taken back, by his dismissive attitude toward me, as well as my older computer.

My laptop started acting up so I took it to Best Buy (where I bought it and where I will never shop…read moreagain...no wonder they are going bankrupt). The 18-year old behind the counter kept trying to upsell us the Geek Squad 3-year warranty. Um no. It was under the 1-year warranty so I wanted them to run a diagnostic test on it. They called back after a few days and said it was a hardware problem and it's not covered under warranty but if I bought the 3-year Geek Squad thing for $400 they could fix it. For that much I could get another laptop, so no thanks (I only use it for the Internet). Disgusted with Best Buy a computer nerd we know highly recommended Virtual PCS. We took it in, the owner was great and told us so many of his customers come there because they get disgusted with Best Buy and their Nazi upselling tactics. He also told me that a waranty covers hardware and basically Best Buy tells people a load of shit to get them to spend more money. Virtual PCS did a great, quick and professional job. Not to mention an honest job. I had never been to an independently owned computer store before but am so glad I tried them out.
