We heard good things about this place and decided to try it. Stopped by on a Saturday around 12:00pm. The place was dead and we got seated immediately. After getting chips n salsa (not bad) we began to wait. After a longer wait then we expected the food came out. It was hot and looked appealing. I had the Chile Verde and it was extra salty but underneath my pending heart attack was some decent flavor. My wife had enchiladas (chicken) again the plate looked nice and the food was hot. The flavor on this one was lacking and had a strange cinnamon taste. Overall I wouldn't recommend tthis place based on this a single experience. I'm open to try again but MEMO'S will have to piCLT up their game quite a bit. read more

Memos Mexican Restaurant in Springfield, Oregon. We ate there on 14 February 2022, a sweet valentine outing. They were busy, but we got seated and ordered immediately. We enjoyed their salsa and chips! We ordered and waited a reasonable amount of time, maybe a bit more than expected, but the food was great. I was out of water before the food, got to us. Unfortunately I waited all evening and still they did not bring more water. We finally asked one of the waiters for some water, he said he would bring it, but did not. We finished eating and waited and waited. I finally got up and asked for a to go box for a few left overs I had. I also asked for the bill and was able to pay at the register, as the waiter never brought the bill. They even cleared off my left overs and threw them away before I could get back to save it. I told the guy at the register about our experience, he said he was sorry, but did not do anything about it. We left disappointed with the poor service, but since the food really is great I still rate it 4 of 5 stars. We are just waiting for the service to come up to speed. I'm a Mexican American... it's very hard for me to find authentic Mexican food.. I had an amazing day hiked 3 waterfalls & just wanted & felt I deserved a good margarita & some tacos.. After all it was Taco Tuesday... Needless to say this was a MAJOR Disappointment. I ordered a Cadillac margarita with Cazadores.. sat at the bar. The pico de Gallo salsa was decent.. the other salsa I didn't care for... I told bartender I wanted Street tacos.. which he claims they don't have them.. but the closest was a plate that had 3 tacos, rice and beans. I settled on the Barbacoa tacos..@ $14.95 mind u.. They came with some sort of sauce on top of them that made them soggy.. So I asked for more tortillas... while I scraped the meat out of the soggy ones... I noticed it wasn't Barbacoa at all.. but some leftover meat with onions & peppers in it.. I refused to eat it.. told the bartender they shouldn't advertise one thing & give u another.. No apologies & never was I asked if I wanted anything else.. the bartender & a young man were the only servers in the restaurant too.. I asked for more salsa I never got.. the Decor is old & nasty... I believe the juice for margarita was kept in a milk jug on the floor..' I was charged $12.95 for the margarita. I lived in LA for a while and I love Mexican food. I wasn't expecting to get the kind of gourmet Mexican (or any ethnic) food in Eugene that I got in LA, but I was surprised how bad the restaurants were here. I also lived lived in Portland for many years, so I guess I was a little spoiled. I tried a lot of Mexican food restaurants here, and was usually not just disappointed, but often grossed out completely. A waiter at the old Sfizio once suggested Memo's so I finally gave it a shot. Our waiter didn't even show up at our table for 10 minutes at least, so I was ready for another bad experience, but the busser kept us supplied with chips and salsa and even got me some hot salsa to try out. The menu is just the standard "hot plate" Mexican fare: the typical entrees served with beans and rice that you usually see at a Mexican restaurant. On the recommendation of another Yelp reviewer I tried the spinach enchiladas. They were good! I think I ate about a brick of melted cheese that was on top of it, but that is how they make enchiladas right? The service was excellent. They acted like they actually wanted us to be there, which was a big change from the dagger eyes I was getting from our waitress at Chapala. My wife got the pork tacos. I tried a bite and the pork was pretty dried out. I wouldn't recommend those. They also use the thin, dry little corn tortillas like the kind locally made by Carmen's. Man, it got me wishing for some of those thick, moist home made corn tortillas at Ranchito Grill. When we were finished, a waiter came by and asked my wife and I if we wanted a shot of Mexican whiskey on the house. It was a nice gesture and the kind of thing that goes along way to making a dining experience enjoyable, even if the Mexican whiskey was just a low-shelf amaretto from what I could tell. Love this place. Super friendly, great service, and good food! The chips are thick and fresh. My kids( 8 and 9 yrs. old) finished off the red salsa. That tells you its not that spicy but still good. I prefer the pico salsa. I ordered the flautas and my hubby ordered a shrimp plate(he cant remember name). My kids ordered a cheese burger and fries.(boring) As we waited we played a couple of rounds of I Spy. Very entertaining since the restaurant is thoughtfully decorated. Green and yellow was popular in our game. The kids loved their food. The flautas were crispy and the beef was juicy.It was so good. Hubby said his shrimp was juicy and the sauce was delicious. The servings were large. !Score! We received great service. The next time i go in i will be counting how many times he says amigo amiga. Its allot! We had a large birthday group on the covered patio. The propane heaters in the room made it comfortable. I got a large peach margarita that was good. I mentioned it could be peachier and a server I didn't know was in the room immediately fixed it. The margaritas are yummy strong so beware of the largest size if you have to drive. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. They served all 9 plates together with great efficiency. They checked with us constantly. I was very impressed with the service, attentive, efficient and very polite. Good service and good food are a recipe for success in my book. read more

Just try and count the number of times he says "amigo" during your visit. If you go for dinner I'd recommend the mole. They also have a pretty good happy hour special on beer and tequila. We went to try a New Mexican eatery and memo's is ok. The drinks are good! Cold beer and very good margaritas! So I highly recommend the drinks! The food on the other hand is lacking. The fajitas have no flavor! The cocktail of camarones was warm when asked to be Cold! The enchiladas were good, the nachos grande and the burrito was weak. I've eaten here several times, trying pretty much everything on the menu at one time or another. The food is very good, not exceptional....but then Mexican food in almost all of the US is pretty much standardized fare. If there is anyplace along the West Coast which is like, say, the San Angel Inn in Mexico City, PLEASE let me know. I'm not fond of meat filled rellenos and I avoid ordering them there. Everything else is fine. The salsa for the chips is also very good. (Little pieces of serrano chilis in it....so be a little careful if you can't handle heat! ) Wait staff are very friendly, very efficient. They are priced very fairly. ...Margaritas are copious but will not overcome you. You should be able to leave without seeing double. read more

In my ongoing quest for decent Mexican food in the Eugene environs, I tried this place for lunch. My litmus test for Mexican food is chile verde - if a place can't do a simple dish like chile verde, I'm not going to trust them with something like molcajete. I thought about ordering the plate but settled for a burrito; my friends ordered steak fajitas and a chicken fajita burrito respectively. The salsa was good and spicy so my hopes were high. Friend #1 said her fajita platter was tasty, and the sides (tortillas, sour cream, etc.) seemed plentiful. My friend's chicken burrito was served with steak instead of chicken. She ate it anyway because she's not the type to complain. My chile verde burrito was...well, it wasn't chile verde. The meat was charred and tasted burnt, like it had been left too long on the grill. There was nothing green about the sauce - it was a nondescript brown sauce which had obviously been poured over the meat (rather than the meat being simmered in the sauce). No green chiles, no spice. I've made better chile verde with canned salsa in my slow cooker. Presentation was nice with sauce and sour cream on the burrito; I ate most of the meat (because it was lunch and I was hungry) but passed on the rest. Service was prompt and friendly but there's a reason this place was mostly deserted during the lunch hour. Maybe if you like fajitas this place will work for you, but I wouldn't recommend it for burritos or other basics. Unfortunately the quest will continue for me. :( read more

Review based on December 29, 2017 visit. Another restaurant that has been good in the past and has now gone downhill in customer service. We went to celebrate an early birthday. We were there about an hour and a half after opening. The floor was disgustingly dirty underneath the booth. The booth seats are way past needing reupholstered. But what I was so surprised with was the lack of customer service when they weren't even busy. But the owner can stand at the bar and have a long conversation with that customer. Restaurants always want us to spend our hard earned money but yet they don't make you feel that welcome after the order has been placed. So these customers won't be going back for awhile!!! read more

The online menu needs to be taken down. It is very inaccurate. We got charged double what the menu says for our kids burgers and fries. The taco salad was incredibly small and came in a tortilla bowl which was not in the description. Aside from the menu I also ordered extra sauce on the side for my seafood chimichanga and didn't get any. Not happy since it's my favorite part of that entree. We go out to eat once a week to support the local economy during the pandemic and were pretty disappointed today. Bright spot is the burgers were good with a large amount of fries. read more

This place is great! The customer service is excellent. They let us make reservations for 8 during graduation week for U of O and most restaurants would not do that. Our food was wonderful and flavorful. Our waiter was attentive, and friendly and efficient even though there were many customers there. The chicken nachos were really good. The large margarita was well worth the price.(very grande) I ordered the fajita salad with steak and the meat was so tender and full of flavor that I wish I could have eaten more.The salsa was good and the pico de gallo was very fresh.Everyone in our party really enjoyed their meals. I am from California so used to good Mexican food and Memos was EXCEPTIONAL. My only complaint is that we couldn't come back because it was time for us to leave Oregon! I'm always delighted by Memo's. The food here is fantastic. The margaritas are enormous, strong, and scrumptious. The service is fun and friendly. It's the best Mexican food in town. My husband and I walked down last night. He had the enchiladas st. maria and I had enchiladas crostena. His enchiladas are our favorite. I don't know what they put in the sauce, but it's delicious. My enchiladas were also quite tasty. They make this delightful citrusy, creamy sauce for their veggie dishes and this dish that's just amazing. As always, the servers were fun and laughed along with us when we drunkenly stumbled out the door after having the medium sized margaritas. They do have a large size, fish bowl size really, margaritas but that's a Friday night thing instead of Wednesday. read more

Most places in Eugene / Springfield are so bland and I don't know why. If you want flavor and fresh, eat here. Good service,clean, and they have gluten free options! Bad service and mediocre food. I've had much better Mexican food in the area and definitely better service, they seemed irritated we were even there. I paid for food we mostly left on our plates, and our server didn't seem to notice or care. They put frozen veggie mix (cubed carrots, peas, green beans, and Lima beans), in the rice and the enchilada, so gross. Chips seemed a bit stale and greasy but the salsa and fresh pico were actually the highlights of the meal. Wish I had more positives to add, but we won't be back. read more
