OMGoodness!! so glad we found this spot! It was game day and they were turning out delicious burritos by the dozens. quick and oh so so tasty! House made Hot sauce is to die for and the counter guys were both super friendly even in the midst of the rush!! Will definitely be back!

    Flan

Short: Pretty good and quick service. Worth stopping by if you have a Mexican food craving needing filled. Visited week of Aug 6th, '22. This review is solely based on previous experiences and the *flan*! I haven't eaten their main Mexican foods since COVID. The service is always decent, quick, and attentive. They just want you to order what you want accurately and ensure your food is hot when you leave! The flan ($3/pc) is a wonderful dessert and is one of the places I know near me that does it homemade with extra syrup. The texture is just right, and it is creamy yet not so dense. It was the right amount of sweetness, and the top wasn't crusty or burnt tasting. Honestly one of the best places to get homemade flan! I get so happy walking in and seeing those pieces of flan in the fridge! To note, they don't always have it, so I get it anytime it is available.

Carnitas & Al Pastor tacos (minus the onions)

Stopped in at El Taco Express for a quick taco fix and they did not disappoint. I ordered a Carnitas taco and a Al Pastor taco (minus the onions). They were prepared on double tortillas with a generous portion of protein on each. They were both tender and nicely seasoned. As a plus, the tortillas tasted homemade. Just a note that the "medium" sized soda cup would be considered a "child" size anywhere else, so if you're looking to consume a lot of liquids, go for the larger size.

This is El Taco Express. Which means not to dilly dally nor delay high-tailing it to this strip-mall cornerstone in Springfield. It's nigh a "cinco" on Yelp, yet, by the grace of Verónica Falcón, is worthy of a full nickel. For what? Da food, man ... El Mexican food. Served fresh. Served real. You think that string of gringos & chavos out the front door is waiting for some chatarra? It's fresh and express, no needin' a guess. Para mi, I'm all about the lengua tacos ... soft ... chunky ... got me singin' like Moto Moto ... beef tongue (lengua) soft tacos in two tortillas. Gracias Yelp and El Taco Express. I'm satisfied. Otherwise, my wife was beyond happy (and full) with Two Pork Tamales served with Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Sour Cream ... and, best/largest of all ... a whole Mojarra (Deep Fried Tilapia Fish) with Rice, Beans, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Onions. So, to recap, the "express" name isn't for how El Taco Express serves customers, but for how quickly YOU need to hurry there to get some of that 5-star awesome Mexican-style food.

It's not much when you walk or drive by, but it's really the quality of the food that comes out. The employees that are there are nice and friendly, and they're super quick when making an order. There is no dedicated lot. I wasn't even sure they were open when we stopped by. It took a few minutes to find an employee. Once we did, he was kind and helpful. I ordered four tacos, and I forget what my friend ordered. But it wasn't an expensive lunch. We waited for what seemed like forever for everything to be ready. Walking around outside, the building looks like a shack. I'm not even sure there is running water inside. It has the same siding as the apartments behind it, so I wonder if it's ran by someone who lives there? Or if they cook in their home and bring it there? I have no idea. This seems very similar to Joey's Pizza in that as long as you close your eyes and don't pay attention to where your food is coming from, it'll be great. Food itself was quite tasty and enjoyable. We took ours to-to and went home. Seating is an outdoor table only. Which seems more appropriate just for waiting to get the food than to actually eat it there. Would I return? If I happen to be driving by and they're open, yes. I can't say I'd go out of my way to eat here though. But it was certainly tasty for a tiny little dive.
