I was honestly shocked to see a real veggie option on the menu that wasn't a veggie burger (although they have that too), so I had to try the chimichurri tofu. It was cooked well - 4 slices cut thin enough to give it a good crispy exterior. The chimichurri sauce was tasty. However, it feels like whoever created this dish has never cooked with tofu before or at least not very much. My suggestion would be marinating the tofu before cooking. The chimichurri made it somewhat enjoyable (I did finish it all!) but the flavor dissolves quickly as you chew through the tofu. I think marinating it will really seal the deal on that dish. Otherwise, the service was great, very friendly and very prompt. The building is quaint and bigger than it looks from the outside. I think my entree was a little overpriced for what I got at $23, but I digress. I see the vision and wish them success.

But it wasn't all bad--I'll start with the positives! The staff were great--super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I also enjoyed the fries, which were plentiful, and the pomegranate blonde ale, which was very refreshing. Although we didn't play, I was happy to see a stack of games on the bar. We were seated upstairs at the recommendation of the hostess. The decor was a little dated but it gave me a cozy and nostalgic feel. Now to the not-so-positives. I ordered the caprese sandwich and in the first bite, I was alarmed to feel something hard, sharp, and un-chewable. Confused, I had to fish whatever it was out of my mouth and found a small piece of what felt like some kind of wood. I realized after a couple minutes that it was the same color and texture as the toothpicks that held the sandwich together. I'm not sure how it got in my mouth--maybe a piece broke off in the kitchen and got stuck in or on the sandwich--but it was the first bite and I wasn't anywhere near where the toothpicks stabbed the sandwiches. Luckily that was the only splintered piece I found in my food, but I was very cautious for the rest of the meal. Honestly, if not for this, this probably would have been a 4-star review, but it put me a little on edge for the rest of the experience. The sandwich itself was decent--the bread was a little charred, but I actually kind of prefer that myself. Caprese sandwiches are always simple and good, as long as the ingredients are decent. The worst part for me was the price. I'm happy to pay a little extra for a great meal, but $18 for a caprese sandwich feels steep. I'm not from around here, so maybe this is normal in these parts where there are limited dinner options. My wife's tofu dinner was $23 for a small portion--back home we could get twice as much tofu for half the price. I always thought city life was more expensive, but I've learned my lesson here!

My favorite regular flavor is Cheesecake w/ Raspberry & Graham Crust, but I'm also crazy about the vegan Coffee w/ Chocolate Cookie Crumble + Caramel Swirl. I like to boat over and have ice cream at lunch time on the weekdays, so hopefully at least one of those will come on the rotation before I head home! They used to have an option where you could get your ice cream on a brioche--it would be cool to see that return someday. Remember to bring cash as they are cash-only, and bring your patience as there are often hordes of children trying to figure out what they want (and what they can afford) while they order.

Creative, delicious flavors, creamy texture, and tons of vegan options. I had a scoop of their signature Honey Bee and a scoop of Cherry Pie (vegan). Both were amazing. I ordered it on a sugar cone and was told no--they only serve two scoops on a cake cone so I got a dish, which used to come with a little pizzelle, but doesn't anymore. These were just the start of the "NOs" at Bresca and The Honey Bee. This place is *loaded* with signs telling you "NO"! A lot of it is what you would expect: NO smoking, NO vaping, NO open flames, NO going to the beach without paying, and also NO using the paddle boats without paying. Some of it is appears to be in response to specific, and infrequent bad behavior: NO throwing rocks, NO feeding the ducks, NO pushing on the dock, NO jumping off the slide, various rules about diapers on babies, NO unaccompanied children under 16? (this is an ice cream shack and swimming hole?), etc. Either way, the visual bombardment of the posted "NO -----" signs makes this place seem like they've missed the mark in creating a welcoming place people go to have fun and enjoy delicious ice cream. The signs with dozens and dozens of "NO" messages makes the place seem hostile. Despite feeling like we might somehow slip up and they might kick us out or call the cops, we did enjoy our ice cream and then upon throwing the cup out, were confronted with a "small trash only--NO pizza boxes" sign on the trash. What the heck?!

Fresh and hot defined these apps perfectly! The sticks were warm and stringy, the pretzels were warm, soft, and salty. The cheese dip was actually delicious and tasted nothing like a can mix. For the main courses we had the home made mac and cheese that was topped with pulled pork which was sauced in Sweet Baby Rays and the Loaded Nachos topped with the Firehouse's award winning chili. The food all came out sized for a table of 8 with savory and sweet hints of deliciousness! The waitress was welcoming, outgoing, and offered sound advice on food choices. The cook staff was timely and efficient, and the bar tender was busy busy slinging cups full of the nectar of God (BEER!!)! The Firehouse House ambience lived up to the name with firefighter equipment, first responder memorabilia, and crafty decor. The only downside to this establishment is that is dark and throws a dive bar vibe. 9/10... we will be coming back here for sure (and ordering less food)!!

Service was stellar the entire night. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and hard working; a very popular and busy establishment. We had draft Pacifico beers which were nice and cold. We just had to try the baby pork shanks appetizer with zippy peach BBQ sauce served atop fennel and cabbage slaw with grilled peaches. Absolutely splendid dish! For entrees (which includes a salad and focaccia bread) we ordered the herb encrusted prime rib and the chicken saltimbocca. Both were extremely gererous portions. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the mushroom cream sauce was heavenly! The mashed potatoes and fresh veggies went perfectly with this dish. The prime rib was surprisly tough and chewey, but once we notified the staff, they did everything to try to make it right. We finished off with a limocello digestive. We were well taken care of and enjoyed the ambiance of the space and the vibes at the bar. The restaurant and restrooms were spotless. Small parking lot or on street parking. Reservations are strongly recommended as this place fills up fast!
