I thought the service was great. There were a few snags. When I called they basically assured me that they had the carpet I was looking for in stock, but then when I got there, it was the only one that was missing. They also told me they weren't able to go double check to see if it was there The customer service, however, made up for that and right now. I'm waiting for four samples that they ordered for me. So I would definitely go back again, I really liked the people that worked there and they were very helpful and helping me figure out what I was looking for. It was a great experience. I had a very pleasant experience with Melrose Carpet from beginning to end. I initially contacted Isac via Yelp that I wanted to put carpet on my staircase and hallway runners. He was very responsive in answering all my questions and invited me to the store. When I visited, Isac was not there but asked his sister, Janet to show me some fabric options. Everyone at the store was courteous and helpful. Jose came by to my house the same day to get the measurements. Isac and I communicated via couple more emails before I signed the contract. Two days later, Alex was at my house for the installation. He did an amazing job and was able to finish the installation which was supposed to take 2 days in a day. I am very happy with how the runners look and will surely recommend Melrose Carpet to anyone :) read more

All the 5 star reviews here are clearly fake. This place has an atrocious service. Worked with James Huerta (owner?) who gave me a very overpriced quote for a fairly simple job, but I was willing to go ahead with it because he promised to take care of everything and be prompt about the order. When I agreed and gave him the go-ahead, the real shake down began. He sent me an "updated" quote with half the promised services and TWICE the price, and it said they could charge me even more if they felt like it after the job. I tried to talk to him about it and negotiate, but he just stopped returning my calls or emails. Extremely dishonest and rude business that will charge you astronomical prices for straightforward jobs. And I've seen Jame's carpet jobs before (one of them is in my house actually from the previous owner) and it's a VERY average quality job - hence why I wanted it redone. I then got a quote from Home Depot for HALF the price of Jame's ORIGINAL quote, with a better carpet and with a lifetime stain/damage/craftsmanship warranty, and there's no need to wait for a month for the carpet "to arrive" and then another 3 weeks to schedule the job like in Jame's case. STAY AWAY from this place, looks like it's going under anyway because there's literally 0 customers inside the store every time I came over. Yuck. read more

Maybe it was a fluke but both times I visited this place I found metered parking on the street right in front. That's a big deal in LA so I want to give them credit for that. The selection is like any other selection you'd find at a carpet. The 4 stars are based on the service I got from James. He was fun to work with and honest about the qualities of each of my different choices. He let me take samples home to try out in my space and never pressured me to buy or upsell me. I felt like I could trust the sales person which is extremely rare. When I'm ready to replace the carpet, I will definitely use Melrose Carprt and James. I walked over to Melrose Carpets last week with a carpet runner that I needed to have shortened and a finished end on the end that was cut. I was greeted by Isac Novian who assured me they could cut and finish the runner for me. Isac walked me to their carpet repair shop on the next block. I was told it would be ready the next day. I wasn't able to pick it up until a few days later but when I did it was rolled and neatly wrapped in a plastic wrap. Melrose Carpets was been in business since 1965 so they really know everything there is to know about carpet and flooring. There store has a family feel and they give you the attention you would never get from one of the much larger and less informed carpet stores. I know its hard to keep samples on the racks + things looking orderly, but this showroom is in complete disarray and it felt like none of the staff cared about customers at all. I have been working with Melrose carpet for many years. I love that it is a family company. The people who laid down my floor also have laid down my carpet 15 years ago in one or both of my apartments. The people who work there doing most of the jobs have been there 20 plus years! I love loyalty. I am pregnant and have been nesting. Melrose Carpet did an incredible job with my curtains, and the most gorgeous white oak looking floors you've ever seen!! Hector and Didier did such an excellent, and thorough job! Even my neighbors were remarking about how clean the site and common areas were at quitting time. Do NOT deal with this company! They installed carpets in my condo. Where the diningroom and lounge join, the carpets edges are sunbleached from them storing it wrong. It also stand up at all the doors and have marks in various places. After a YEAR of many emails to JAMES, the manager, in which he kept promising me a new carpet, he finally sent out his men after i threatened to yelp him. His guys walked in, then tell me that my warranty period had expired. I then showed them my years worth of emails. They then said ok, they will fix the problems. The end result is now even worse than before. Do Not deal with these unscrupulous conmen! read more

James was able to introduce me to carpets by other mills which I liked more, and were comparably priced. Also, Melrose installs a much better carpet pad. I've been using these guys since like 2006? So this review is a long time coming. They've installed carpet in several of my rental units, and recently, they installed some engineered hardwood in one of my units. I haven't had to replace any of the carpeting yet in my rental units but with the economic life of the carpet coming to an end soon, I'll be heading back to Melrose carpeting again. STAY AWAY! These people are literally criminals. Please note that all the positive reviews seem to be from accounts that aren't real Yelpers. Melrose came to our project insisting they wanted to do the floor leveling required before install themselves - probably to increase the scope of work. The guys they sent out then proceeded to install the flooring WITHOUT doing ANY leveling of ANY kind. Total rookie mistake and inexcusable. The flooring looked like hell. After trying to blame US for their mistake, I make a big stink and the owner (James) finally insisted he'd stand behind his work. Then after much delay because the ruined materials had to be replaced, he sent out another crew to demo their screw up and start again. They also tried to blame US for the previous crew's amateur mistake, but a few calls with the owner and he went back to his promise to stand behind his work. At this point, we were totally out of time and had a big party scheduled at our place in just a few days. Wellllll, at the last minute, the owner went back on his word and we suddenly found ourselves threatened that if we didn't pay $1800 for leveling, the crew was going to walk off the job and leave us in a lurch. He had us by the gonads and took advantage of us. I've been working in architecture and design for over 16 years. I have never seen a vendor pull something like this. Total rip off, delayed our project by over a month, and then fleeced us for it. I warn you with all sincerity to stay away from Melrose Flooring. read more

When you enter the store you are in the office sales area immediately and you can sense the family run atmosphere and pride of ownership. No corporate greed to feed the franchise bottom line. Generations of their lineage have been feed , clothed and benefited by the families honest hard labor. We first came into the store on the recommendation of a very close and detailed friend to find carpets for our renovation. After sourcing the packed store , watching the techs cut carpet, and time spent with the very personable Isac we knew we had found a home. He directed us in the right direction and somewhat refocused our thought process. A trip later we met Janet as Isac was out of the store and her amiable smile and detailed knowledge continued our quest. Ultimately we ended up looking at a number of products for window coverings as our renovation had taken us to a very contemporary arena from the past. We did two projects at once with Melrose Carpet -- a stair runner on very old, pokey stairs and a wall-to-wall situation in our basement. Both came out STUNNING. José, who took the measurements was so kind, efficient and knowledgable. Isac ran the projects and helped me look at about a million samples (so patient), and of course was instrumental in finding the winners. José (different José) and his father Severin came to do the installation and they were fantastic. There were a few decisions to be made on the fly on the runner; José had a great eye and a wonderful way of relaying things!
