Typically, I like using local companies for purchases and home improvements. But using Barry's carpeting was a huge mistake. I am giving 1-star only because the business was responsive to some of my concerns and requests. For the installation, 1-star is generous. The 3 installers arrived and basically ignored me, the homeowner. When I asked if they would like me to show them the bedrooms where the carpeting needed be installed, they said no, brushed me off, and went about their business. Soon after, I realized that they were walking on my brand-new, light-colored carpeting with boots/shoes with no booties. When I asked them to use booties, they refused, one worker saying he would slip, and another demonstrating how clean his shoes were by wiping them on a scrap of carpeting. Only after I contacted a Barry's representative who called them did 2 of the 3 put on booties, which they apparently had with them, but did not want to use. They proceeded to walk outside with the booties on, then returned to walk on the new carpeting. I consider it a minimum standard of professionalism for carpet installers to wear clean booties on new carpeting. After the installation was complete and the installers left, I inspected the work and found myself walking on large, sharp nails that were poking out of the entire perimeter of all the bedrooms and closets. I learned that the installers had used the incorrect size of nail tack strips, which caused the protruding nails. The company said they would dispatch the same crew for the repairs. However, these workers clearly demonstrated a lack of expertise by using incorrect tack strips for my carpeting, so I requested a different crew. My request was met with objections because someone new would have to be paid. Eventually, they agreed to send a different worker. Instead of replacing the tack strips with smaller ones, he simply pounded down the excessively long nails. There were numerous other problems, like a flaw or large pull in the carpeting, which was never addressed, very visible seams, and a few missing ramps in the transition from my wood floors to the carpeting. Of the ramps that were added later, two are fine, but two look worse now than before. I just couldn't deal with this company again, so I let it go for now. I caution you to avoid making the mistake I made. Read the unsatisfactory reviews and believe them. read more

We bought a wall-to-wall wool carpet from Barry Carpet a few years ago. They did an excellent installation, and we have loved the carpet. Recently we had it cleaned and there was a small problem with a seam, which the cleaners tried to repair but couldn't. Barry sent their men to fix the seam and did a fantastic job. I just completed an bathroom flooring installation and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the flooring and the installation. Their team was extremely efficient and they left my place better than they found it. I also want to thank the owner, Jill, who went out of her way to work with my complex to get the installation approved. Our HOA is very strict with what we can do in terms of flooring, and she took time to call the managers and explain everything in detail to ultimately get the installation approved. Chris was also incredibly helpful from the moment we entered the store and began the process of looking for both carpet and bathroom flooring. I have made multiple calls for price points and carpet recommendations. I spoke to a female I believe is the same person twice now with no return calls. You would think on the second call she would get her act together when I advised her I hadn't heard back in three weeks. As of 2-23-2022, I still have not heard back. Finally frustrated I hired another company closer to my home that is extremely responsive and provides immediate communication. Both floor and carpet measures came out the same day. A work order was prepared and carpet ordered immediately and scheduled for installation at my convenience next week. I'm not sure what's going on at Barry's but they seem disinterested in having a successful business. read more

I don't write reviews often, but I thought it was important to do so here. I have used Barry Carpet twice now, and they did an exceptional job with the carpet in my bedroom. They also did the hardwood floors throughout the rest of my condo. We had some hiccups along the way but, ultimately, I was satisfied with the experience. I would also recommend Jarely as your rep. Hello carpet lovers!! I've used Barry Carpet now for 3 of our fitness studios. I love these guys. Jill and Marbella were first class. They found our desired carpet when nobody else could. They had it sent it from across the country in time for our grand opening. They even got it for less than other companies. Their installers came on time and worked hard until the install was simply perfect. I have to start by saying I ended up using a different company for our carpet. We were looking for over 1,000 sq'. We came in on a Saturday and Marbella was our salesperson. She was helpful that first day and spent a good amount of time with us. She arranged for samples to be sent and for someone to come out and measure. The day the guy came out to measure (Thursday), he told me he had one more stop and then would be going back to the store. Marbella had told me that as soon as she had the measurements she would prepare the quote. I received the quote Monday, but only after calling the store at least 3 times and always being told that Marbella was out or busy. When I spoke to Marbella, she told me she was very busy. When I did receive the bid, she was very competitive, but the lead time changed from 10 days to approximately 10 days, which concerned me. When I asked about that, she couldn't promise me that the job would be completed on schedule. It's great to be busy, but it's not great to feel like you are not important to the retailer, especially when spending thousand of dollars. The company we went with is so on point and conscientious, and they ended up giving us a great price. I did try to call to speak to Marbella to let her know we weren't going to go with Barry and to thank her for her time, but she was busy. read more

Their customer service is very poor. The mill sent them the wrong carpet a few weeks before installation. They neglected to identify this error. The morning when they were supposed to do the install one of the owners called me advising that they received the wrong carpet and that it will take a week or so to receive the correct one. I advised him that because of the delay I would incur expenses. I attempted to avert these expenses but could not. One of them was installation of a television system that a friend was going to do for free but because of the delay I missed his being able to help me. The owner said "S--t Happens" and was not sympathetic to my problem. After a few conversations he asked me how much discount I wanted and feeling that it was rude of me to tell him how much to compensate me for I asked him to advise me his offer. Finally, the television installation cost me $350.00 and he reimbursed me a fraction of that cost. My total payment to him was over $3,000.00. There were other expenses that I incurred due to their error which I did not claim to them. He was very rude to me during the last conversations. On the other hand his installation workers were kind and very skilled. I am happy with the final product, however, I had a miserable experience in dealing with him. I highly recommend that if you want to make a purchase from this company that you reconfirm that they have the correct merchandise when received from their supplier. read more

This should NOT be your first choice for minor padding replacement. My AC caused water damage to a 4x5 space and they wanted to overcharge me with their excessive fees. Is spoke with sales associate Jim- Buyer BEWARE, he said they have a minimum of $350 labor charge and that does NOT include replacing the padding. UPDATE!!! Another local flooring company came sent one man and he took less than 15 minutes to remove the old padding and to place in new padding. And he suggested and allowed me to spray some Tilex to prevent future mildew and mold. IT cost me much LESS than $ half the price quoted at Barry's carpet. Truly, take your business elsewhere. The sales associates are curt, rude and well overpriced!!! read more

For anyone looking to install a great floor, Ron Ross at Barry Carpet is the man to meet. He's honest, values relationship, and works hard to please his clients. He was also a general contractor for about 30 years and understands the challenges that come with remodeling. He is willing to listen to the design ideas of his clients and skillfully facilitates sound decision making. In my case, I had hoped to eliminate the baseboards and quarter rounds in order to create a floating effect, but ultimately Ron helped me understand this wouldn't work while still leaving the decision entirely up to me. As for Barry Carpet, they carry top notch flooring, and they were able to deliver Mirage Select Red Oak engineered wood from Canada. It has 4 mm of surface and can be sanded three times, so I don't expect to replace the floor for many, many years. I should also mention that Barry Carpet is a very friendly place that has the inviting feel of a family run business. They know who you are and provide personal service, which definitely helped me get through the installation. Finally, I need to mention the excellent work of their installer. Armando Figueroa oversaw the installation and brought patience, experience, and creativity to the process. He matched the floor to my tile to avoid clumsy transition strips. He custom made a wood border between my floor and my fireplace. And he design built an elegant transition strip between my master bedroom and master bath. Time and time again I keep returning to this place over the past 5 years. Marbella at Barry Carpet is amazing, knowledgable, and on top of her stuff! I first had ordered carpeting there for our home and was pleased with my experience. Last year, I ordered cork flooring for my office and was again please at how above and beyond Marbella went to finding me the product I wanted, in the quantity I needed. I am now in the midst of ordering a gorgeous French Oak wood flooring from them. Their prices are very reasonable, and service is impeccable. They have a lot of samples to look through as well. Very disappointing experience with Barry Carpet. I should specify that it was with Marbella in particular. When I called to get some options for new carpet for the hallway of a building, I was directed to Marbella. She agreed to come out to take measurements and show us a few catalogues of looks I was looking for. On the day of the appointment, she arrived late without providing me any notice. That was not a big deal to me, given that traffic situations occur all the time. At the meeting, we discussed options and asked that she get back to me with some very detailed estimates. She only sent an email with a generic price without providing any information that you would expect, such as what is included, the measurements, the carpet name/model... I asked for a more specific bid but she didn't respond. I called and called and left several messages without ever hearing back from her. Way to waste my time. If you knew that you did not want to take on the job or that you were unable to provide the minimal details that any professional would, you should have had the courtesy to communicate as much. Seriously, how unprofessional that you simply fail to respond to numerous inquiries and follow up messages. Was hoping to do business with Barry Carpet on numerous other projects but based on the unbelievably inadequate services Marbella provided I will not be back. This is the worst service I've ever experienced. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Don't use them. I tried to get a carpet estimate for 2 weeks and was met with every horrendous scenario you could possibly imagine. The first time I was told someone would come out, called them on the date of the appointment after waiting around all day, and was told that no one was scheduled for the appointment. Later that day I was told that I called the wrong location. When I followed up a third time, I was told I was a terrible person by some woman on the phone for something completely off base and was told that she sent an estimate even though I had not gotten one. She said she'd resend it. Still don't have an estimate. Haven't heard from them since and after that awful customer experience I'm staying as far away from this company as possible. I recommend you do the same unless you want to waste your time. read more

Came in the other week to get help looking at the some vinyl flooring. Staff was extremely attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about their customers. Most other flooring/carpet places I've been to don't really abide to any kind of customer service, so it was refreshing. Great selection too! read more

This company has been around forever (or so it seems), and I used them for the first time several years ago when helping a relative re-do her home in West L.A. We needed it done in a hurry, and Marbella at Barry Carpet absolutely came through. Installation was timely, perfect and everyone was happy. After that, I used them to carpet a home in Laguna Beach (again, perfect, including repairing some imperfections in the floor) and again in my home. I rarely write a post, about anything, but can not stop myself. Barry's Carpet was the best, most professional experience I have ever had with a business. A few years ago, I needed carpet for a small area and was treated like I was installing enough for a palace. Recently I went back and had them complete my entire upstairs area. The service was the same as before, impeccable. They even sanded an area of the hardwood floors and would only charge me the cost of doing so. Very reasonable and fair prices. The same staff was there, and has been for years. You could tell, as they all treated each other as a big family. Marbella helped me select the carpet and has a great sense of design. Ron, whose been in the bus forever, knew exactly how much and what I needed. During the installation I called Luis, and told him I thought a mistake had been made. As ridiculous as this sounds, he drove out to my house within 20 minutes and resolved ALL my concerns. Wow, how often does any business in todays world do that?
