I only contacted them for an estimate on a repair I needed done on my property. They didn't confirm the appointment, and the contractor showed up at 7:30 AM for an appointment between 12-2. I explicitly outlined what I needed done and the gentleman was in other rooms that I didn't ask for and gave us an estimate 3 times what everyone else was offering. I had a house cleaner to clean the kitchen and accidentally damage a portion of newly refinished hardwood floor with cleaning agent. Estimator turned down my engineered flooring install job because my 1928 house living room floor was not level. I told him if he tried to level my subfloor that that would raise the door thresholds just over an inch too high going out the doors. I suggested the best we could try for is flat subflooring if slightly out of level. I asked him to quote for flattening the subfloor but he only gave me TWO options, either they install the 10k worth of wood without doing anything to the wonky subfloors ?? OR I pay to level everything above the thresholds. I makes no sense but apparently they don't flatten! If you have an old house like I do, I would look elsewhere. read more

Our new floors are officially the favorite part of our new home. We recently bought our first home and knew walking in that while the bones were great, e needed to get this 1920s spanish beauty back to her self. Which first meant ripping out the terrible flipper grey laminate flooring. We got quotes from a handful of companies, and while sequoia were not the cheapest, they were the only people to see what we were up against before starting. Steven came in for a consultation, checked a few spots and came back with the news - yes we can replace all of this. But whoever did the flip laid the laminate on tile in the kitchen and didn't level the floors. To do the job well and prevent the warping and soft spots that had plagued the grey flooring before it, we'd need to double our budget for some serious leveling. They could have just done the job, but instead they brought their expertise and wow - the result is fantastic. The guys hustled, worked around our crazy moving schedule (and termite tenting which was a nightmare) and finished up as we were moving in. My entire experience with Sequoia Flooring was a positive experience. This includes the initial scheduling of a complimentary onsite estimate to the completion of work. For context, we have a house with original hardwood floors dating back to 1914. We needed to fix our flooring as quickly as possible so that we could rent out our house. Sarah handled our scheduling. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule a few times and she was very gracious about it. Our project manager, Kevin was great to work with. He was polite and professional. We initially requested an estimate for floor refinishing and realized that an installation of floating laminate flooring would be better for our circumstances. It gave us a way to preserve our original flooring while providing a durable and low-maintenance floor for our renters. He gave us a decent installation estimate that was in line with other companies. We selected flooring with his help and he quickly purchased the materials and scheduled the installation within a few days. He always made himself available via text throughout the process and was very responsive. We ultimately decided to work with Sequoia because Kevin was not a pushy salesperson who was happy to answer all of our questions and remained that way after receiving our money. I've had many less-than-satisfactory experiences dealing with subcontractor project managers ranging from HVAC, millwork, and gate fabrication. They tend not to be present or helpful after they get the job. This was not the case with Kevin. There were some misunderstandings once the installation commenced, but we were able to resolve them. The team that did the actual installation consisted of the foreman, Juan, and his crewmate Manny. They were nice guys and seemed to have several years of good flooring experience between them. They did a great job installing the floors. Laminate planks if not mixed properly can look very repetitive if the installers don't know what they are doing. They completed the 300+ square feet within the same day and stuck around to help us resolve some other issues. They were very nice and patient throughout. We were in the middle of a HORRIBLE nightmare of a renovation with a different company that charged crazy prices and worked maybe 3x in the first month we had them for. Brian the project manager was lovely to work with, his honesty was refreshing and he came with samples, ready to put his boys to work. Brian's calm demeanor and lack of salesman-ish vibe made him a regular hard working person that we felt comfortable with immediately and signed the fair price contract the day we met him. Brian's crew (all really polite gentlemen who respected our home, cleaned after every session and asked if we wanted some stray boxes and garbage removed that the other company left behind) came on a Wednesday, worked their asses off and finished on a Saturday morning, leaving us with extra flooring and baseboards in case we needed it for the rest of the work the other company had left to do. Can you say honest & trustworthy?! I wanted to install laminate flooring in a sunroom and first had another installer come out for an estimate. When the installer came, he indicated that the floor would need to be prepped first since it was uneven. I subsequently received an estimate, which didn't include floor prep, to move the project forward. I was not confident with this installer, so I found Sequoia Flooring on yelp and started the process with them. This morning Dennis came out to give me an estimate and indicated that laminate/vinyl flooring is not an option for our sunroom for a variety of reasons: the existing concrete could be leveled, but the room is not insulated, so the constant change in temperature would not be good for the floor; there is a lot of moisture that comes through the concrete that would give us problems down the road, etc. He was completely upfront and honest, even though it meant them giving up my business. Which, I must say, I was totally ready to get started. He also mentioned that he would not recommend carpet because we would have the same issues and the moisture under the carpet could lead to mold!! Dennis recommended we go with porcelain tile, which they don't sell--so, he recommended another provider. You just don't get more honest than this!!! We submitted an insurance claim, and after doing some research, decided to work with Sequoia for the repair. Dennis and Josef were great throughout the entire process. They helped us realize the value of our peg and groove flooring, so that we received appropriate support for our insurance. They also coached us through selecting our replacement option, and figuring out the best solution for improving the leveling. They helped secure the materials in a timely fashion, even though supply was really limited.
