Sunset Hills Mellow Mushroom has become our go to for any family bday celebration, and even tho Im not always craving pizza they really do have a big enough menu where everyone can find something. Started with a Caesar salad that was split between 2 ppl and the table did 3 pizzas for the 6 ppl group.... Somehow we still left with two full pizza boxes! If you plan to stop by on a weekend night make sure to add your name to the list to speed up the wait, but the staff does a great job flipping tables fast! Staff is usually very attentive and I've found even if we don't have the best server the other staff helps make up for this and they practice excellent teamwork overall, so it's hard to have a bad experience. This is the best location I've ever been to. The pics is amazing every single time. I have not had a pizza from here that I haven't loved. The shiitake is so garlicky and savory with the nice added texture of the mushrooms that gives it a little "pop". The decor is nice, cute interior. We stopped in for weeknight dinner here. We were quick to be seated and the restaurant wasn't very crowded for dinner time and the restaurant was clean. Our server seemed a little put out for having to serve us in their demeanor and the way they took our order, but was attentive to our table. Started with honey sriracha wings and bruschetta. Personally the wing could have been much spicier. It seemed more "honey" wing than honey sriracha. Bruschetta was classic bruschetta. Great flavor with lots of toppings. For pizzas we love being able to get 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas for my partner and I can both get our faves. The Holy Shiitake pie is a must for any mushroom lover. Lots of garlic and great flavor with a crunchy, bready crust. We tried the Mel Corleone pizza as well, which is a local feature and greatly enjoyed it. Had lunch here with a group of friends. They have a small selection of lunch specials. Either 1 or 2 slices of pizza or sandwich. I got the 2 slices of pizza (one to take home for my spouse). This place truly has the best pizza in town, especially the Holy Shiitake pop it's unbelievably good. I know I shouldn't be eating dairy, but this pizza is so delicious that it's impossible to resist. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, whether I'm picking up or dining in. I usually get my order to go, but even when I have to wait, they remain warm and welcoming. The atmosphere adds to the charm. The outdoor seating area looks inviting and is great for families, while the inside is full of fun and creative décor that makes you want to take it all in. Brought a friend there for lunch and we were so excited to have their mushroom soup. It was still showing on the online menu but our server told us they haven't had it for a year! I had a spinach salad which was just okay. My companion had the slice and a Cesar side salad. She said it was just okay. Came back to meet a friend and had the hummus appetizer. Hummus was good, but they added basil and balsamic vinegar, which I've never had on hummus. Olive oil would have been more appropriate. The carrot sticks and celery also looked kind of funky, probably because not many people order this. But it was ok, came out quickly and was only $4! read more

I love love love Mellow Mushroom's take on pizza's ordered from their classics menu - specifically, The Pacific Rim and Kosmic Karma. Pacific Rim is like a Hawaiian but better, with jalapeños and caramelized onions, while the Kosmic is pesto-y, tomato-y, feta-y goodness. I went when I was younger and they had a potato pizza, not sure what happened to that but bring it back!! Anyway, they offer takeout and that's what we did most recently. I ordered curbside pickup over an hour from the time I wanted to pick it up and they left me hanging. I arrived 15 minutes early texted the number they provided with my name and phone number and waited for an hour after I received a message back saying they were checking on my order, I finally got irritated enough that I went in were the hostess listened to but said I had to go to to the Togo sign by the kitchen were a frazzled guy said to me didn't you get the text that "Sorry for the extensive wait. Your order will be out soon!" I replied to him yes over a half hour ago. He said ok let check on it didn't know, said it was about to go out when the food runner came back in with it I took the food and returned to my car. All of my food was cold. At this point I just want to go home. I was livid after waiting so long and getting cold food, when I opened my boxes found that not only was it cold it was also burnt, I wanted to heat it up but didn't want it to burn more. So we called them spoke to the manager who then refunded my whole order, i was thankful, but it did not make me feel better about my experience with them or help me enjoy my cold food. I don't recommend this very loud restaurant, the only way to make sure your food is hot is to eat there, just make sure you have a couple of hours to wait. The food itself is subpar. read more

The Mellow Mushroom does a great pizza, and we come here just to get the holy shiitake. There's really no other mushroom pizza like it, it's delicious. Usually we try another pizza too, but nothing is ever as good as the holy shiitake. Tonight we got three small pizzas to try: the usual as well as a funky chicken (bbq) and a great white. The BBQ was decent, but not our favorite bbq pizza out there. The great white is absolutely delicious and would definitely get again. We also had the pretzel bites which were delicious, but they're really more like breadstick bites. The decor is cool and psychedelic, and there's a great outdoor area. However, there are so many tables inside you can barely walk through, and it's nearly impossible to have a conversation because it's so loud. At least at this location. As for service.....we hope it would be better next time. Our server was nice, but sometimes he's just check in by gesturing at us lol. We also sat down at 6:30 and didn't get our pizzas until 8:00. Before, I say anything else. The decor and inside of this place is rocking! It's absolultey fun, and clean as well than just appealing! Love the vibes here. I came in here after hearing about it from a friend, and so I came. Heads-up: Service takes really really long, but it's nice to know the staff are making this less frustrating. I've never been, and I'm so glad I changed that today. The parking lot is huge, I came at lunch, so it was busy, but not packed. I entered and only waited a couple of minutes to be seated. The day was nice, so we chose to sit outside. There is a covered patio, or seats in the sunshine. We couldn't use the umbrella because it was too breezy, and it was bright outside. Our table all ordered plant based options. They weren't so clearly marked on the menu, so we asked about what choices we have. I got a Greek salad, and it was huge. Someone else ordered pizza, and a calzone, all with dairy free cheese and tempeh. The cheese melted well, and the Tempeh was filling, and had good flavor. We lingered over our meal, and it was all very good! We took advantage of the photo opportunity by the Love sign too! This was a fun experience! read more

Mellow mushroom has always given me absolutely amazing food. If you haven't had the mushroom pizza, it's an absolute joy! I've never really been a fan of mushrooms, but I was given that pizza as a thank you and absolutely loved it so I came back for different pizzas and I've loved each and every one of them. I live in Illinois, but actually make the trip to go pick up pizza from mellow mushroom because they're much better than pizzas from many other places closer to me. If you'd like to try a lot of different types of their pizza, I suggest getting two half-and-half pizzas so you and your friends and family can try four different pizzas at the same time. This is what I do. It's allowed me to try the entire menu for half the price. lol I just hope that one day they come out with a huge party sized pizza that is much bigger in size. I doubt it'll happen but fingers crossed. read more
