I was having a rough day and decided I needed something delicious for dinner, and decided this was the spot. I ordered a large pepperoni with extra cheese and an order of the toasted ravioli. The pizza has a wonderful crust, soft and forgiving in the right spots and a perfect crunch on the end right where you want it. The sauce isn't some generic store bought sauce you can taste the blend of Italian herbs and the cheese is perfectly proportionate. To top it off the pizza is hit with another round of an Italian blend of herbs. The toasted ravioli is an icon. In a city renowned for toasted ravioli it's sad to see so many places take the easy way out with frozen Louisa ravioli, you can with 100% certainty tell that's not what is served there. I'll keep this short and sweet with the caveat that I will give a more detailed review of specific foods next visit. Simply put, Bommarito's is FANTASTIC! I've been coming here off and on since they opened in 2006 and I have NEVER been disappointed. From the "Roast Beast" sandwich and the truly incredible Toasted Raviolis, to of course the made from scratch pizza. Roberto does an absolutely fantastic job! You'll be hard pressed to find a pizza shop in STL that has the owner pour as much love into his food as Roberto does. So. Amazingly good!!! The toasted rav are homemade. None of that dumped out of a box into the fryer nonsense like you'll get for an appetizer at most places. We ordered the STL pizza which is a traditional St Louis style pizza with provel cheese and 3 toppings. It's not as thin as IMO's which in my opinion is better. Everything is made fresh when you order and most likely by the owners. Who by the way are great to visit with while you wait! This is great for take out since the dining area is small but don't be afraid to sit and eat. They have tables in their small dining area. Oh! I almost forgot the best part! Stopped in here ladt night to give it a try. It's a small little neighborhood pizzeria in Affton. We were greeted quickly and got our order placed. For being a small place with just a few tables it wasn't a chatty place. You couldn't really speak with staff or find out much about the history. We ordered garlic sticks and a pepperoni, bacon banana peppers pizza. The only thing I didn't care for was the bottom pizza crust was hard. I like a more chewy pizza. The toppings were fresh. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. This is a small, family owned business. Very clean. The owners have owned it for 19 years and are the ones on site working. Super friendly and personable. My daughter and I ate in, and she greeted everyone that came in, most by name if they were their regular customers. I got buffalo wings and we got a half and half cheese and pepperoni pizza. These wings were so good!!! They were a little crispy and the sauce was really good. The pizza was probably one of the best I've had. My daughter (7) even rated it a 10 out of 10. I used to live in St. Louis Hills and eat Bommarito's pretty regularly. I hadn't had it in years and called in an order while I was out and about on a weekend not too far away. I ordered the Quattro Formaggi Pizza (Buffalo Mozzarella, Parmigiano reggiano, Gorgonzola, Fresh Mozzarella and added Bacon) and an Arancini. Both were great. Loved the combination of cheeses and the crisp bacon. If I had one thought it would be the crust could use some salt or seasoning. All in all I stick to a thin St. Louis crust but if you feel like hand tossed pizza this is a great one! read more

My last review of Bommarito's Pizza in Affton was in 2014. I raved about this tiny, family owned pizzeria then and now in 2023, I remember why. On Friday I ordered one of their outstanding specialty 10" pizzas for delivery. It was like a Time Warp. I didn't order the delivery through one of the regular apps but rather by calling the number on the website. Bommarito's Pizza still delivers directly from the restaurant to customers in Affton for $4 plus an optional tip for the driver. (The website is simple and looks unchanged and still mentions that Bommarito's "now accepts credit cards".) When the driver delivered my order, she mentioned that Bommarito's also delivers through GrubHub. Unless it's changed since I've been there years ago, the restaurant itself is pretty basic with a few tables and as I remember, years ago, red and white checkered tablecloths typical of a lot of Italian restaurants in the St Louis area many years ago when I was young. I have recently rediscovered Bommarito's Pizzeria and am thrilled that I did! I tried them a while back and really liked their pizza, but living in an area with pizza places galore I forgot about them. The rediscovery thankfully occurred during COVID shutdowns and making an effort to eat locally at places near me. And all I can say is, WOW! Their pizza is amazing! Their crust is the best! You can get hand tossed, which is the perfect thickness of not too much bread, but just enough to handle the loaded toppings. They also offer a thinner crust that is also spectacular. Their pizzas are also cooked to perfection: toppings baked onto the crispy, but never overcooked crust. The toppings are loaded on and provides the best crust to toppings/sauce ratio. You can build your own pizza or their specialty pizzas, which I also recommend. I suggest the Buffalo Wing and STL Provel! In addition to pizza, they offer some tasty appetizers and pastas. I like the baked ravioli and their wings. Again, their wings are cooked to perfection - a bit crispy, but not dry or overcooked. The next item I would like to try is their Calzones! Bommarito's service is like their pizzas and wings - perfection! They are welcoming when you come in for pick up and my orders have always been accurate. We called in a pick up order at Bommarito's and had a two-topping XL pizza and a large garden salad. The prices were pretty average and the pizza was your standard carry out pizza. We overall had a good experience and would most likely return due to the close proximity, but it was definitely not my favorite pizza in the city. I really really wanted to love this pizza. But I didn't. They did deliver to my south Webster home (just north of Watson and west of Laclede Station). So that was good. And the food came faster than expected. But the pizza crust was a disappointment. While there were pictures online her that showed big bubbles in the crust, my pizza had no bubbles. The crush looked good from the underside, with cornmeal and some lightly charred spots. But it wasn't airy or crispy. It was about 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick, but really dense with the bottom crust hard to bite through. I will say that the toppings were great (bacon and mushrooms...nothing prepackaged here) and I liked the sauce. But the crust just ruined it for me. I also got cheese garlic sticks rather than bread. Think small oval thick crust pizza with very dense and chewy bread, garlic butter for the sauce and cheese on the top. Then sliced into strips. I liked it, and a couple of pieces is filling, so one order should feed a family. Bottom line is if I do go back, I'll try a calzone or something else. But not pizza again unless I give the new thin crust a try. read more

First time trying this pizza and we will be back!!! We had the meat lover's pie, and it did not disappoint. Large pieces of bacon, not the little bits you usually get. Loved the hand tossed crust with a nice crunch to the air pockets. It really reminded me of a crust you'd get in an old school wood fired pizza. And just the right amount of sauce. Roberto, the owner, was running the show. Very friendly. The pizzeria was on my way home, and I impulsively stopped, ordered, and had a beer while he did his thing. About a 25 minute visit, and I was out the door with a delicious pizza pie!! Did I mention REAL cheese???!!! Not provel, but, mozzarella blend. SO. GOOD. I've been craving bommaritos for a few weeks. We tried to call for take out last night and they were so busy we couldn't get through so I waited. Tonight we got through and ordered a little of everything as we always do there. I love their arracini- fried rice ball. They are soooo good. Crispy on the outside with rice, cheese, meat and peas inside, served in a bath of their delicious tomato sauce. They are big, but we ordered 3 so we can enjoy them leftover too. The pizza is as good as always. Fresh crust, flavorful sauce, loaded with toppings. I love thin crust stl style pizza with provel, but sometimes you gotta change it up and this is a welcomed change. I also have to get the meatball calzone- add ricotta- a delish blend of sauce, mozzarella, meatballs and ricotta in a fresh crust baked to perfection. Lastly their toasted ravioli. They make them homemade. Soft pillows of pasta with a meat filling fried to the perfect golden brown crisp ones. Such great food. Worth the drive and still hot when we got home. read more
