We haven't ordered pizza from here for like forever. So tonight, we decided it was time. I called and ordered the 16-inch bacon, sausage and onion with hand tossed dough. The young lady on the phone was nice and said it would be 20 minutes. Upon arrival she greeted me and said the pizza wasn't quite ready and it would be a few minutes. I may have sat there for about 5 minutes maybe. When it arrived, I opened the box, and it looked great. Since it was a weeknight, I got a little discount. Got home and started chowing down on it and man what a great tasting pizza. The under-carriage was firm and charred just right. The crust was perfectly crisp. Let's start off with the fact that this place was 30 minutes from my job ( I left work to go and get the food and then head home) and another 30 minutes from my house which I live in Illinois. Bomb a** meat lovers pizza. This is pretty typical St. Louis style za, so nothing earth shattering. Mega toppings on this guy but I feel like all of the sausage with all of the hamburger gave it a very salty+peppery taste. Glad I tried though and may God bless the delivery team that night. They went above and beyond to deliver this product that allowed my wife and I to survive St. Louis. this place definitely deserves the solid four stars that it had at the time of this review and from me as well. I was drawn to this place because it's in the area that I live and work and I've done a lot of deliveries out of this place and once I looked at the menu and saw how reasonable the prices were, i felt compelled to try it for myself. I'm always on the go, so I am the customer who needs affordable, convenient, protein-packed meals. when I saw that the house special sandwiches, the Mr. X, and the Mrs. X, were only seven dollars for a small and nine dollars for a large, with an assortment of meat and veggies, I knew that was what I had to try. now keep in mind I have worked at so many pizza places that I've gotten pretty picky when it comes to Pizza and Pizza derivatives. The sandwiches are kind of like mini calzones, like something I would have made myself for lunch at one of the pizza shops where I once worked. they just take pizza, toppings and cheese and wrap it in their pizza dough, which was fairly good, just crispy enough without being too crispy, and with a fresh dough taste that is not yeasty. they don't hit the outside of the sandwich with garlic sauce like the competition, but this would be unnecessary to do because the toppings are quite salty and any additional sauce would make it too salty. I do like that the sandwich is served with 2 cups of ranch that are included in the price. It's rare to get your dipping cups included these days. It is not a ranch for ranch lovers though, it has kind of a sweet taste that reminds you of fat free products from the 1990s, but with the thick texture of proper ranch. so in short, the sandwich was decent and a good value for the money, but it was a little bit too salty for my taste and I really like salt so if I see something is too salty, it's too salty. It's just because the chicken in it has a lot of added salt to it and then you also have salami on it and some other salty things. that said, the meat has a firm texture though, and doesn't have that squishy processed meat feeling, so that's a plus. The service was on point, the website was easy to use and they don't make you enter your card number ahead of time so you can just show up and get it once you get the confirmation email. My food was ready when I arrived and they were quite attentive, greeting me as soon as I entered. I probably wouldn't ever eat inside there, though, because they're always seems to be a group of older gentleman talking in there, and it kind of reminds me of a cigar shop or mafia den for some reason. Those guys always seem to be there when i pick up deliveries and i never see anyone else eating inside. I will probably go back again and try the other sandwich, might be a repeat customer just because of the value and good service, though I've definitely had better sandwiches. read more

Mr. X was just OK the other night. Not terrible, nothing exceptional. And they were over 25 minutes late with delivery... not OK! I'm sure they get busy, but most pizza joints that are much more popular don't get away with douching out on their delivery service. I will note, however, that when the pizza finally did arrive that it was piping hot. If you are going to order from Mr. X, I'd suggest carry out instead. Great pizza. Called in a pickup order and it was ready in 20 minutes. I really loved the crust, it was crispy, crunchy, but still warm and fluffy on the inside. Excellent pizza!! We are very picky and overly critical of pizza but this is very good quality pepperoni and cheese and crust. Not a huge fan of the Italian sausage but everything else was really really good! We had this delivered from Uber eats and it was even hot still. Fantastic pizza. Crispy crust and cheese that is well done, which is exactly how I like it. If you're a fan of well done pizza, you can't beat Mr. X. The ranch dressing on their salad is some of the tastiest I've ever had. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality. Additional note: Last time I ordered delivery, I promptly dropped my salad inside the front door. I had Mr. X about a week ago, and I'm just now getting around to writing a Yelp review! Bad Stephanie! Go to Yelp jail! Anyway, it was a lazy night for me. I was hungry, but I didn't want to leave the house. Didn't want to cook. Didn't have the energy to do anything but pick up the phone and call in something for delivery. Sick of the other pizza joints around Shrewsbury, and aching to try something new, I called Mr. X. Actually, I didn't call, I used their nifty little website to order my meal! I put in the order, and received a phone call a few minutes later from Mr. X to confirm my order details and method of payment. I was told my pizza (and fries!) would be at my house in 35-45 minutes. Fine. About 15 minutes later, I get a call from the delivery driver. He wants directions to where I live. *sigh* As a delivery driver, isn't it your job to know your way around the city? I was a little miffed. Me? Work for my meal? Pfffft. Ah well. I tried my best to give the guy directions. Let's just say I'm really bad at giving directions. I use lots of landmarks. I don't know street names. I knew that Mr. X was in the Tower Grove area, and I know exactly ONE way to get to my house from there. It's probably the most roundabout way, but I rolled with it. I guess my directions were sufficient, because he thanked me and assured me that my pizza was on its way. Well, 10 minutes later, guess who calls me again? The delivery guy. He's lost, and he needs my help. Long story short, I give him turn by turn directions until he's at my house. Not the most ideal way to spend my time, but hey -- I was HANGRY! The pizza arrives, and somehow it's still hot. My fries were warm, too...but soggy. Ew. Back to the pizza. It was hot and not too bad tasting. The crust was a little on the charred side, but it didn't bother me too much. It was a solid pizza -- not the BEST I've ever had, but definitely not the worst. I don't know if I'd order from Mr. X again. I don't like it when delivery drivers get lost and I have to help them do their job. After moving to the Southampton neighborhood, I was determined to sift through all the local pizzerias to find a go-to place. Mr. X is that place. Down to the saucy facts: the hand-tossed crust is the perfect blend of crispy and chewy, with a cornmeal dusting and a bit of salt. The sauce is incredibly flavorful, a deep, rich tomato taste. I usually go for the combination approach on toppings: sausage, bacon or pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Always, always garlic. All of the veggies have that crisp, fresh-cut bite. The cheese is mozzarella, generously portioned, and delightfully stringy. My preference is to eat in here, though the dining area is... let's just say, in desperate need of renovation. But the pizza right out of the oven is SO worth it. They do have free delivery, though, and the prices are rock bottom. You can order online as well, which is super convenient. Bottom line: I love Pi and frou-frou pizza as much as the next foodie. But sometimes you want straight-up "regular," American-traditional pizza, done incredibly well. For me, that's Mr. X. When I order pizza it's usually in a state of extreme hunger and desperation. Therefore I do not have a lot of time and patience for people to be putzing around with my pizza. I ordered off the website and received an e-mail confirmation within a few mins, but 50 mins later, still no pizza. I live pretty close to the establishment and my address is not confusing. I called and a "young lady" answered and after some confusion about which order was mine she said "Oh, that pizza was already delivered." I said "No, it wasn't. I do not have a pizza. If I had a pizza I would not be calling you." She said "let me check with the driver and call you back." A few mins later the driver showed up with my lukewarm pizza. I asked, "Did you try delivering here earlier?" He said "no." "Well, I have been waiting for an hour," I replied. And then he mumbled something about a fax... Sigh... Just give me the damn pizza. As for the taste, it was OK. A little salty, but then again I had the supreme so there were a lot toppings. It tasted fresh, but I think they skimped on the sauce. At 2/3 the price of Imo's though I can't really complain. However, I will only give them 2 stars for now due to the Seinfeld-esque delivery fiasco. If I try again and they redeem themselves I will update my review positively. You shouldn't give any 2nd chances to ex-boyfriends, but I will give one to Mr. X. read more

That is until now! We tried Mr. X out of curiosity and hunger and we were really impressed. My wife is a picky pizza eater and she raved about it. Mr. X Pizza took over the spot on Morganford that was formerly Guido's Pizzeria, and later a Bosnian Coffee Shop. I see several mixed Yelp reviews, but as a delivery place, I like it! They are privately owned, everything is fresh and the pizza is tasty. Try the Margarita pizza (yes, that's how they spell it). It's got oregano and cheese and I have them add tomato and garlic. 16" of fresh ingredient goodness on homemade crust for $13.50 (tax included) and free delivery. It doesn't get much better than that! You can even save more via their carryout specials if you pick your order up. Sure, delivery times can be slightly inconsistent, but they don't have the benefit of chain restaurant systems. I'm a fan. P.S. I ordered on-line. It saves your settings so that you can get the exact same thing next time (if you want) and it saves your address and directions settings too. read more

We did it! We tried the 30 inch pizza!! After reading a few articles and reveiws on this place my friend and I ventured out to try the pizza. And we ordered the 30 incher just for the fun of it. (Each of us ended up taking home the equivilant of an 18 inch pizza.) Postives 1) I ordered a dinner salad first because I was starving. It was huge and delicious. It was the "medium" and my friend and I split the salad. Cheap and so worth it. 2) As I said, we ordered the 30 inch pizza. I thought this would take forever to cook, which is why I ordered the salad, but it really didn't. We got just about everything on it. There was no skimping on the toppings. And even our left overs were heavy on the toppings. 3) The crust is thin in the middle but deep on the outside. The sauce was complimentary to the toppings. Nothing over whelming in either area. 4) Thankfully the 30 inch was cut into squares. I cant imagine trying to pick up a 15 inch piece. 5) We were the only people in the restaurant. The waitress was super attentive and friendly. We were cold so she turned up the heat. And turned on the TV even letting us choose the station. Negatives 1) As someone else stated, the place is in need fo some renovations 2) The menu we were given was actually a flyer that is normally taped to one of the pizza boxes. And when I asked for a menu to take with me they didn't have any left. 3) It took some time for the waitress to realize we came in. When we walked in there was guy at the bar which is seperate from the dining room. We stood there few about five minutes before she came out and seated us. 4) If the place is ever busy, I can imagine things taking a long time. I ordered the salad because I was starving, and it took 15 minutes for that to come out. Over all, I want to go back, or see if they deliver to my house. They told me they deliver all over, and even deliver the 30 inch pizza. (It looks like the front door is custom made to get it out, although I don't think I could get it back in my house. I'd love to go back with some more friends and order the big pizza again. I've spent the same amount at other pizza places and didn't find the pizza nearly as appetizing. And splitting it four ways would make it even more reasonable. I'm only taking off a star for the lack of menus and the need for updating. read more

Let me first state that I am not a MO native. I hail from Lima, Ohio. Home of the BEST pizza joint, FatJacks Pizza. Now that I have stated the obvious on to Mr. X's pizza. The crust is awesome; crispy, chewy and so far it never has been gooey. Sauce is tasty, zesty garlic after glow and the tang of tomato. My most favorite part of the pizza?!?!.....drum roll please.....mozzarella cheese! None of that "puke-vella" ooze these folks try to pass off as cheese. Seriously, it took me back. If you enjoy a traditional pizza pie, this my friends is the promised land for pizza. I also ordered fried mushrooms....noom noom and buffalo flavored wings (which was the only disappointing part of my experience. They were quitdry.) and a 2l of coke. It was a wonderful special. I find Mr. X to be an incredibly fitting name, as the pizza they serve is average and completely unremarkable. It's not bad in any way, but it's also not great. They melt some cheese onto some tomato-slathered bread, and that's about as far as they take it (or I assume, based on the flavor of my pizza). I mean, it's not that expensive, so you wouldn't lose much by giving it a try. I just don't understand how anybody could call it great pizza. read more
