We went for a quick bite after tennis practice, sat at bar, ordered a beer, 9oz glass of wine, a medium pizza and small salad. Trivia was going on and everything was good. We arrived and the waitress please said find a seat the place is a mess .We sat and she dropped menus and came back about 15 minutes later. She took our order. The meatball trio came and it was cold but waitress no where too be found.Then our pizza came and that was barely warm.Once again the waitress never checked back .She did finally show up with a box and the bill while my wife was still eating. The only restaurant still open when we arrived was Mellow Mushroom. Though it felt so surreal; the climate was so different and I heard all the bugs in the air, the pizza was a great welcoming to the area! The absolute best I have ever had. It immediately became are go-to location for pizza. Recently, my mom came to visit and I wanted her to try MM before she left. Coming from the pizza capital of the U.S., I was concerned about finding good pizza in Lowcountry. Fortunately I have 2 great venues within 1 miles of my new home which come very close. Mellow Mushroom is a chain and also an Untappd venue. Many great craft beers on draught. With a Yelp check-in, we received a free pretzel bites. These aren't really pretzels, but more similar to pizza dough served with pizza sauce and beer cheese on the side. The beer cheese was really good. My wife and I split a half mushroom, half onion medium pie. Great flavor crust, nice and cheesy with plenty of fresh toppings. Our waitress was very good. Very good happy hour specials. This is our first time here. Very tasty looking items on the menu, if we could have, would have tried everything. People complain about the pricing, but I cook GF at home and all the ingredients cost more, I believe there is one in the Cleveland area we went to as well. The best....THE BEST place for vegan pizza anywhere on the East Coast. That said, this location gets an AAAAA+. Went in two days ago and got two vegan pies. Killer flavor and perfectly cooked. We loved the funky atmosphere here and the food was great. We started out with the Trio of Meatball appetizer. It was served with loads of extra sauce for dipping and each meatball was sliced in half and skewered with a piece of cheese in between. It was really tasty, although could have been more hot. We then ordered a medium sausage and green pepper pizza. The pizza came out all crisp and hot and oozy with cheese. Perfect! The crust was awesome, although maybe a little too much Parmesan cheese.
