Great place! Richmond classic restaurant. Hotdogs are delicious, and we love their crab dip. Versatile menu with options for everyone. The staff is friendly too! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good, cozy spot to eat read more

This is my go-to neighborhood spot. I'm totally addicted to their meatloaf and roasted Brussels sprouts. Comfort food at its best.

I surely don't know what all the excitement is about the chili dogs. The chili was awful. Gray and weirdly dry. Tasteless. I ate there last Sunday and we had delicious sandwiches. Tonight was a terrible experience. I will go back one more time because I really want to order the baked spaghetti. I know in the future I will definitely pass on the hot dogs. read more

Well...a great disappointment for dinner but the grilled asparagus were great as were the french fries. Service was pleasant and good. Perhaps lunch is the way to go here. I'll have to give that a shot! read more

Melitos is one of our favorite casual neighborhood restaurant in the West End. Recently they changed their menu, raised their prices and added a few new items. But the quality and freshness of their meals remains reliable and tasty. Our only complaint is the service. Due to high volume on a typical evening, staff are constantly circulating and asking diners if they're finished eating or need anything else. On our latest visit on a Wednesday evening, our entire dining experience lasted less than 45 minutes. We skipped dessert and chose to finish our meal in a more relaxing environment without someone constantly interrupting and asking us if we needed anything else. read more

So when someone says, "We serve the best dogs in the world"... as a hot dog connoisseur I have to try it out. Of course I'm thinking...hot dogs...who can go wrong with that although I do like mine to have a little crispiness to it. This place did not bring on the crispiness like I like it so I give it an A-ok rating. I'm a relish fan, but felt it was relished a bit too much on a such a small dog that it made the dog taste a little sour. Nonetheless I enjoyed it and will return again. I will probably ask them if they could keep my dog on the grill, skillet, or whatever they use a little longer though. Just a personal preference of mine. read more

Great place for a business lunch. It gets busy around noon, but have never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table. GREAT Caesar with Salmon! They roast turkey every day? Yum! I had the reuben and subbed with turkey and it was delicious! Very much a neighborhood tradition. Consistently good. read more

Great food & drinks & an excellent wait staff. This west end icon has been around for a lot of years & it's sill consistently great food. Lots of charm & character w/a Fan kind of feel to it w/o the drive. The only down side is that it can get crowded & noisy because it is so popular. read more

Don't think I know anyone who dislikes Melito's. It's one of our go-to spots. It's a local favorite and they've got a loyal following. The food is always tasty, the chips are yummy, and you'll always run into someone you know. You can't go wrong with Melito's. read more

Been going here for close to twenty years. Never had a bad experience. Staff is incredible and food is great. Good deal on steak specials, and best soups in town read more

A favorite local go-to. The Richmond Cheesesteak is my favorite and I love their hot dogs!

Really disappointed tonight in Melitos. We haven't been there in at least three months. My wife and I have been going there for at least 17 years. Tonight she orders the chicken teriyaki salad. It's a really big salad and comes with a small side of dressing. She asked for an additional dressing and is told it will be an additional charge. We blow it off and say okay whatever. I order the NY strip and get two sides. I chose the Brussels and sweet potato fries. Once again the waitress says that the sweet potato fries are also an additional charge. Seriously? Why? They ended up being basic frozen sweet potato fries you can get from any grocery store. There are way too many options now in the Richmond west end. To top it all off our waitress acted like she could care less about us. Maybe we will try again in 3 months. read more

Melitos is one of those restaurants you would never think of walking into but once you do you will love it. I had lunch there with one of my friends. The food was great, my waitress was wonderful. She had such a wonderful attitude. If you haven't tried this place your missing out. read more

Great service great good and reasonably priced. Wings are really good and on special on Monday !!

Love this place. Feels like a bar, only nicer. And their menu is simple, with enough variety to be interesting, and the prices are reasonable. I LOVE that they have soft pretzels as appetizers. read more

Really disappointed tonight. We had not been here in several months. I ordered the appetizer stuffed Portobello mushrooms which on the menu said came with two Portobello mushrooms and two sides. Mine came with one and when I asked about it they said it depends on the size of the mushroom we give you???? Your menu said two. I was getting it for my dinner not an appetizer based on the description...very misleading. read more

I really like the atmosphere here! They have really consistent food! Nothing special or fancy, just good food! The pork tenderloin sandwich is awesome!! Everyone always raves about the hot dogs. read more

I have been a fan for many years but was quite disappointed today. Ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. The salmon was good but the romaine was terrible. it was very pale and cut in strips. I like my dressing on the side so I can control the amount. With strips of lettuce, it was difficult to get onto my fork. I was quite disappointed as a whole. read more

The wings were ok but for 5.50 ill eat then again! The mango hab was not spicy. ..at all but the garlic wins wear good. Great for a cheap eat. Ill be going back. read more

So boring. No flavor. I also learned they had dozens of health violations. No thank you!!!

Food - solid 3 stars The crab stuff just tasted a bit strange to me. Not bad, just not what I am used to. Burger and hot dog were decent. Loved the 3.50 martini Wednesday specials for ladies. Nice and very popular and lively place. Overall I can see me coming back for drinks. read more

Really good! Food is always fresh and tasty! I have tried the chicken salad, tilapia wrap, mahi mahi stuffed with crab, crab soup, not a fan of the BBQ but I like mine with lots of sauce. Always have new specials to pick from! Great healthy steamed veggies on the side. read more

Went in for the first time after seeing it for years...best decision I have made. Started with the crab dip which was so good and the pretzel. I opted for the wine flight, something I have never had anywhere else. I chose the chicken dinner that had onions and mushrooms with the sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli dunks. The chicken was so juicy and tasty and the potatoes were creamy. I have been missing out not coming here sooner and can't wait to go back. read more

Been coming here regularly since '98. Sadly, Melito's is losing its edge. Food just not as fresh or well prepared. The BBQ is my go to, and that remains solid. read more

It is a fun atmosphere. Very gluten free knowledgable. I had their works hot dogs, excellent. Very friendly staff.

I love going to Melito's! The food is awesome and the staff is super friendly. They provide excellent service in a upbeat environment. Happy hour specials are the bomb! read more

Melito's you let me down! Let me first first say I went there to meet a an old friend to catch up. So time and food wasn't high on my list. So you did have that going for you!! But wow! It was truly a bad experience. It was crazy busy and took almost 25 minutes to get our first drinks after already waiting for someone to greet us at our table after 15 minutes. I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. I do wish I took a picture. I'm sure you would be embarrassed. I ended up with a bowl of chopped iceberg lettuce. Didn't see any Parmesan cheese at first but when I tossed it, I saw a few pieces of cheese. No croutons. It did have the extra dressing I asked for. The salmon was way over cooked but edible. I was hungry so I ate it. My friend ordered a side salad and I ordered French onion soup and asked to send out first. Neither came to the table. Our entrees arrived and we told her we didn't get our salad and soup. She then asked if we still wanted them. We said yes. It came to us in about 15 minutes. The soup was not something I'd ever order again. Water. No cheese. Or bread for a French onion soup. Just a broth with onion in it and a bowl of oyster crackers on the side. I did ask her about my salad and why it was just lettuce and she was sorry and said they ran out of lettuce and croutons. It seemed she was maybe inexperienced in customer service or waiting tables. We were super nice and understanding. . Drinks were hard to come by. We moved to the bar to have another drink and the bartender was so very friendly. Paid the bill in full and gave a good tip even though not deserved due to our experience. Y'all are close to where I live and could be a place to return in the future for dinner and drinks but unfortunately I won't be returning. read more

Good, basic food. The meatloaf was very good including the grilled asparagus & brussel sprouts. The loaded hot dog was delicious. If you like chess pie, this is the place to come. Our lemon chess pie was nice & creamy with a subtle lemon tang. The crab dip was nicely done. read more

Melito's is one of my favorites. Never disappointed. Anything from a hot dog to a rib eye steak, some nights prime rib. Very good salads, wraps and sandwiches also. You can't beat their prices. The staff have always been great. They have a strong local clientele. You are likely to see the same people week after week. Its a nice clean place that is warm, friendly and comfortable. read more

Dark wood decor, crowded space (not necessarily bad, but get a booth if you have kids). Food is quintessential Richmond. That means it is bland. And Richmonders love it. The chili actually has some flavor. Cool Daddy sandwich is a neat twist on a ham sandwich. Fish sandwich is good. Salads, overpriced hot dogs, bar food, etc. Homemade potato chips appetizer is very tasty. Hummus actually ok. Desserts brought in from some good local places like Gelati Celesti ice cream. Good local beer specials during happy hour and mixed drink specials. The young women who are waitresses have started dressing a bit more appropriately as of late which is nice. Don't forget to see the kind of famous September 11th memorial flag, made official in the state of Virginia. read more

It was good. I thought the chili on the dogs left something to be desired and the salad was anemic, but the prices weren't too bad and the service was good. read more

My husband comes here often for lunch and loves it, of course he loves the hot dogs. I've been here a few times and have always liked it, good food, good service, clean place. It's a casual place, you're not out of place wearing a t-shirt and you're not out of place wearing a dress. read more

Four stars really? Come on they must pay people for these reviews. I wouldn't even give it the one ifIn it allowed for the option. I have eaten here several times over the corse of a decade cause I work nearby and exhaust myself of nearby options. The menus has never changed. The clientele are pretentious, the food is just ok. The waitresses are blah, and the owner is a prick. It's like a dungeon inside day and night. Very dark dusty and old. Fight the traffic and go to a chain restaurant in short pump or go hungry. The Xmas decor is also left up for way too long, tacky and traditional....I suppose much like its owner. This place is tired and needs to catch up with the times. The older generation is dying off and the legacy of this restaurant is soon to follow. The food needs a facelift as well as the decor. read more
