The store is great when they have the items on the shelves that are actually advertised for sale. Sadly, that is often not the case.

I like this store so far after I bought my groceries here quite a lot in the past few months. There are a lot of things to like about this store. There is a wide and spacious parking lot, and I have never had any difficulty in it. The store is clean and spacious. I like the layout because that way everything is easy and accessible. What I like the most, and the main reason why I go here for my groceries, is definitely because of the products they have here. They have a good and fresh selection of produce and breads. They also have a variety of fresh and good-quality meats and seafood. A wonderful selection of apparel is available inside too. There are really so many things to like in this store. All of their products are also of good quality, and they offer good brands of products as well. Their apparel selection has good quality, nice clothes and other stuff that is really interesting and affordable too. The majority of their selection is generally well-stocked. However, there are also certain products that are almost out of stock due to high demand. I always go in here early in the day, but they are also open very late. Customer service here is great too. Growing up in southeast Michigan, Meijer was an institution. However, this store is in serious decline. They've stopped carrying the home grown and small labels that drew me in. Meijer has a huge list of medications that they give out for free with prescription. They have saved me hundreds on veterinary prescriptions, as opposed to paying for them from the veterinarian's office. The pharmacy is great. The Wi-Fi is fast and cell reception is horrible if you're not logged into the network. There every day prices are better than Jewel's sale prices on pretty much everything. Their liquor prices rival the best places around, even Sam's Club. Excellent liquor selection. Huge wine selection. Great prices on all alcohol. read more

Of the three 24 hour super grocery market places in the area. This one feels the biggest and certainly has wider aisles and open spaces. I don't feel claustrophobic in here and the employees seem a little more friendly. Prices are close if not better than the Wal-mart down the street, though I shop at both. Meijer also sells pet fish... A strange quirk that makes me shake my head and smile, every time I pass the section. read more

Made a purchase of $93 of groceries and some other items including a $4.69 bottle of nail polish at the round lake meijer. Which is about a 45 minute drive from our home in lake in the hills. We were in that area as we had other business there. Well when we got home no nail polish in the bags. it was on the recipe so we did pay for it. Took the recipe the next day to the Algonquin meiger store as it is literally five minutes from my house. Told the lady behind the service desk the situation thinking she would say, ok get the product and bring it back here and we'll check it against the recipe. However the answer was we can't do that you will have to take it back to the RL store. I asked for a manager and Asm. Scott P. Came up. I told Him the situation.answer, no we can't do that it will mess up our inventory. MESS UP INVENTORY!!! A $4.69 nail polish? If you work retail you know that's crap And I told him so. I always shop here! But today it was enough. I have had my service animal with me. The lady at the front was asking me really rude questions. After I showed her all the necessary documentation they let me go shop. After 10 minutes the same lady that wanted to see the paper work said I needed to speak to a manager. The manager never came by me as I have had stuff in my hand and I just didn't wanna put it away and go back and forth. I will definitely never shop here again since they do not understand it the first time. All of my people with service animals just go to target that's down the street. I love Meijer but the only time I can go in is mornings and i hate that because they have a lady who runs self check out and she's honestly the worst. She is so condescending. Every time I go and run into her I get in a grumpy mood. I'd rather stand in line forever than to speed through self check out and run into her. No customer service at this location. Usually this is one of my favorite shopping experiences when I come to Chicago. Looking for a long sleeve T, I spotted a display with logo ed T's advertised at 6.99 each. I selected a long sleeve Illini that was on the rack right below the sign. After going through the check out line, I discovered that I was charged 19.99. Went to customer service, explained the situation and was asked: "Can you show me the display" - which I did. The clerk responded that the sign clearly said $ 6.99 - regularly priced - $ 9.99. I told her that I just picked up the T shirt I liked - it was on the rack marked $ 6.99 - and there were eight other shirts just like mine on the same rack. Well - after speaking with several managers - they all said sorry - we placed the shirts on the wrong rack - cannot sell it to you for $ 6.99. Sorry, Mejier - you lost a somewhat loyal customer - don't like shopping at a store that does bait & switch ... plus the way you talked down to me like I was trying to scam them. The irony is that next week, those same T shirts will probably be marked down anyway. read more

What can I say about Meijer?! It ranks right up there with the best grocery shopping experiences that you can have! I have three available to me on the Randall Road corridor. Geneva, Elgin and Lake in the HIlls. The produce is absolutely amazing and priced right! Check out the stone fruit right now. The largest juiciest cherries for $3.99 a pound. I love the summer! This place is like a Wal-Mart plus a huge grocery store. This place is reaaal big and if you're a first time shopper, give yourself some extra time to get around the store. Its an amazing store though. They have some of the best prices I have ever seen on groceries. Their clothing, shoes, household goods are very comprable to Wal-Mart in quality and priced very reasonably as well. And if you get hungry while you shop, they have a great little snack counter and a Starbucks built inside of the store. The Wal-Mart across the street used to be a frequent stop for me...but now Meijer is definitely the better choice. They are price gouging at this store because of the Corona Virus. All the prices are higher than normal. The deli is closed. $13 for a 4 pack of toilet paper. The chicken was double the price as it usually is. There was no ice cream left and the couple left on the shelf was $8 a half gallon. I will never shop there again and filed a report with pictures to the attorney general of Illinois read more

Not too sure who's in charge or what's going on with this location but its aweful and getting worse.... lots of empty holes and signs all over, what little is on the shelf is a mess. looks like the store hasn't been faced in weeks. I was in retail for 15 years, there is no excuse for this and your customers deserve better. scan for outs, stock your store, rotate your perishables, and bring everthing forward! I shop here when I'm visiting my mom.. Its nice to be able to stock on lots of things at once. They have some decent sales, and the cashiers and service desk people - especially Colleen - are friendly. I would have rated this store higher if: a) the pay-at-the-pump gas option actually worked. I don't want to swipe at the pump and then still go inside, wait in line behind someone trying to decide what lotto ticket to buy, and then have to swipe it again at the counter. I now refuse to buy gas here because of this. b) the items in the sale flyer should actually be in stock. They are consistently out of a couple items I plan to go in for. c) the sales floor staff are generally unhelpful and seem annoyed by me asking them where item X is and (gasp!) asking to be shown instead of relying on their "its in aisle 6." read more

I am a loyal shopper here but since this store went to Sunday start or their weekly ads they consistently do not have the new ad signed until as late as Mondays so would not recommend shopping Sundays unless you want to carry their ad around as you shop. Again today I went TWICE to purchase items that were in the ad but nothing signed yet so did not know what varieties were on sale. Wait until later in the week to shop this store as also not well stocked on Sundays. Don't try sending them a critique either as that did not solve this issue. read more

This is one of my favorite (unionized) big box stores. One of the few places where you can walk around at 3 am just for the fun of it. Price-wise, Meijer tends to be fairly reasonable. I find that they have a lot of sales on soft drinks. I also found them to be one of the cheapest places for picking up video games. Staff-wise, this location has a lot of great people. I tend to shop during the late night hours on the weekends. The employees I have dealt with have been a lot of fun and friendly - especially Fran and Joice. Gas station-wise, they tend to be reasonable, although they can be a bit more expensive than the stations in West Dundee. I haven't had problems with the pay-at-the-pump option ever (that isn't a problem, its actually a security proceedure a bunch of stations have been forced to use by the credit card companies to stop or limit credit card fraud). read more

I recommend doing most of your grocery shopping here as they have most everything you will need - including a decent international aisle (British, French, German, Dutch, Asian, with emphasis on Italian and Hispanic) Prices are very reasonable and I would highly recommend their steaks and meat. Additional departments include housewares, clothing, a great selection of Chicago team branded sportswear and toiletries. This is a great supermarket store. I do my grocery shopping here every weekend. First, their prices are awesome! It's rarely possible to beat them. Second, unlike Dominic's or Jewel (competitors in the area), Meijer doesn't require coupons or member loyalty cards - they just regularly put products on sale, in additional to already having a low price on everything. Third, they have a ton of self-checkout counters, so if I don't want to wait in the long lines, I can just check out on my own. Fourth, the customer service is simple and friendly. Yes, they incorrectly label some products just like any store. But if you go to their customer service and you are correct, they never argue with you - they just give you the credit back. Fifth, they have a very nice alcohol selection and it's almost always cheaper than the typical liquor store - very convenient. Sixth, the store offerrs everything from groceries, to clothes, to outdoor and auto equipment just like Walmart, except they are smaller than Walmart so there is less walking. read more

I typically enjoy shipping at meijer but right now I'm not so thrilled. I went to get a snack while my husband checked out in the self check out lane. One of the items we had (cookie dough) had a different tag on it (similar to a clearance tag) so he couldn't ring it up without assistance. Someone came over and informed him that we could not buy it in the self checkout because of the tag, and that if we wanted the cookie dough that we would have to stand in a separate line to purchase the item. What the heck?!? I've been in plenty of self check out lines and they are always able to manually enter the items. The only redeeming thing they is giving meijer 2 stars rather than 1 is that the greeter lady and the lady working at the sub shop were both very nice. I won't be headed back anytime soon. read more

We had a crisis, okay a party crises but one nevertheless. Party City would not help us out as they "didn't have the time". We needed 21 balloons filled for an 80th birthday party brunch for my mom the next morning. After a call to party city advising they were open until 9:00 pm, then them turning us away we went to the floral department at Meijer for a last ditch effort. What service were we in for! Christiana the GM zone Team leader and Michelle jumped right on our order and said it would be ready at 8 am the next morning and it was. Thank you! thank you! I frequent this story in the early a.m. At 6:00, almost everytime I shop, there is a group of employees right out front of the main (only open) door. They are on break smoking 4-5 feet from the door. I watched two gentlemen go directly to the produce dept. and started to unload produce. YUCK. Also, there is one girl specifically at the "podium" that wouldn't said a word if her life depended on it. (25 ish). Come on, a good morning is too hard to say? Maybe you don't want to speak to me, you have enough words to speak to your fellow employees that are huddled together. Customer service people! read more

Favorite pharmacy. Usually short lines (especially compared to Walmart and to Walgreens.) Some free antibitiocs. Also, they will call when regularly scheduled scripts are ready for refill, call dr. to ask for refill if you've run out, and can call prescriptions in advance and they will give you an automated reminder call when filled and keep on hand for about a week. Dinged one star since there are occassional waits in line and obviously unhappy staff (but I've usually seen that all pharmacies - note, proceed with caution before choosing this profession). Never ever get their sides that come with the rotisserie chicken. Unless you like cold and soggy mozzarella sticks dipped in a sour marinara sauce. Or if you like sand (mashed potatoes) and gravy. Or it's good to get if you're on a diet, because you probably won't eat any of it or be turned off from all food in general. The chicken was pretty descent I guess though. I will not be shopping at Meijer any longer. So many times they have had merchandise on wrong shelves, priced wrong, then having to go back to the store to get it adjusted. A lot of merchandise empty on the shelves for weeks to months. The doors to the left have been closing earlier and earlier so when you park on that side of the parking lot you will then have to exit on the other end of the building. This isn't good when it's 20 below with a full cart of groceries and 50 miles winds. The self check out gets shut down very early so you are forced to wait in long lines with one cahier. Their machines are constantly needing repair and the workers seem to not know how to handle them whatsoever. I find the workers very lazy and disorganized and make lines of customers wait for one cashier when there are other workers standing around talking. Their prices are continually going up. Jewel is much cheaper now. I will be going to Jewel, Walmart and Trader Joes for better service, quality and pricing. read more

Oh Meijer, you have everything I could ever think of in a superstore. You're produce is outstanding and your isles and isles of groceries keeps my cupboards full and my wallet empty.
