I don't shop at JcPenney's too often, and when this location opened, I have to admit that the first time I went in there, I had difficulty finding what I needed to. The lay out is just weird. Since I've been in there a few times since, I generally know where to go now, but I still find the lay out to be bizarre. I think they are finally starting to come around more to sales and coupons again, after they tried their new platform of just having a new pricing format instead. read more

Had the worst experience May 8th with Natalie. I had a full head of hair upon arrival. I requested layers and feathering to give me some volume and help with pulling it back out of my face on the sides. I was clear on what I wanted. She never heard of feathering. She calls it blending. She never heard of the Farrah Fawcet cut I wanted. Before going to shampoo area I showed her a couple pictures of what I wanted. I told her my hair is curly and she would have to spray it with water as she goes as it dries fast. She replied we will dry cut it. I also mention a bad cut I previously received there in the past with the women using razors on my thin hair. She agreed not razors, helmet style or bob for me. I watched her do a huge straight slice right above my ear and started shaking. I told her I was shaking. She then pulled out the razor and asked for permission to use it. I guess I figured she needed help with the thick long hair and said ok. Big mistake. She hid her mistake. So the sides were now short and the back straight and long. She would barely give the mirror to me to see her work. She had me facing a customer on the side of me for a long time. So uncomfortable for me. I kept looking at the 5-7" cuts of hair on the ground. When she asked me how much I wanted off in the very beginning I replied 2", no more than 3 due to the layering I wanted. When she said she was done I said I didn't want the back all one length. She took a couple cuts into the back and again without a word about her mistake she ran for help. I pushed myself with my feet to see it in her big mirror and grabbed the hand mirror. OMG total destruction. I told the hair dresser that came that we have a difference in the meaning of feathering and layering. Natalie called it blending. I call it a feathered and layered haircut. She was not helpful about that and said it should have been wet. I replied that's what I said. Natalie denied it. The new girl was going to take over but I I jumped out of the chair and said "we are done here". I went to different salon for help. She told me there were no layers and I have a botched shag. She didn't want to touch it until it grew. I went to see about hair extension. Very expensive and I can't have them as I am allergic to plastic. I am devastated. Probably wig time. I am crushed. Beware of young new girls and don't go walk in. Call ahead and get a seasoned hair dresser if you love your hair. read more

I was walking through the store on Friday, December 19th. by ANA to see a worker getting yelled at by one of the what looked like managers. mind you this girl look as if she was no where near the managers age. She looked visibly uncomfortable and the manager was just unbelievable. I feel that this should be done in private and not in a place where customers can witness this type of behavior coming from management. not only has this happened once but multiple times i have seen or heard something happen like this with other individuals who were also working. one even came from The general manager Beth she had gotten in mutiple individuals faces yelling at them when they clearly looked as if they were doing their job and this is something a manager should not be doing as i would due to my old type of businesses and establishments that i have for.It is extremely dishonoring to see that this is happening to children who are only in their teens who choose to have a job and who choose they feel the need to be respected in order to continue doing their job. i've bought from this establishment for many years and i feel deeply uncomfortable to go there again due to this behavior yet again. read more

Store was disorganized and lacking quite a bit in inventory in several areas. The staff at checkout were friendly - except for the part when our cashier looked at us in shock when we didn't want to open a JCPenney credit card when checking out. There were a few good sales going on in the store. read more

I brought my Grandson here to pick up some dress pants and vest. The men's dressing rooms were closed and we were told to use the women's fitting on the other end of the store. While I realize it's 2023 this just doesn't seem like a good idea. The store did have an attendant/employee monitoring the changing room, however, I don't think that makes it ok. Some other female customers were unaware that it was a co-Ed changing room. read more

I went today to get a hair cute in the salon and they cut it way way way way to short all i said was a trim because I am trying to grow my hair out and I'm crying rn I hate it so much I don't recommend at all the stylist was so nice but she cut it way way too short read more

Do not buy from #JCPInHomeCustomDesign they totally screwed up my order and won't do anything to fix the situation! The saleslady did a lousy job of describing the products, the benefits, and why you should order one item over another. I cannot open my top-down-bottom-up shades and my master bedroom has been without all of the window coverings since October, this is March! I also believe she changed my order after she left. So be forewarned, shop at your own peril!I spent over $7000 on custom window coverings, it took a measurement specialist a month to make sure everything was measured correctly and another month for the window coverings to arrive. Then it took several more weeks for the installer to get here. Moreover, they didn't hang the window coverings straight. Now months after we ordered in October the district manager is refusing to do anything. The consultant was more interested in talking about her son. I love my son too, but lady you are here to do a job! After years of using #JCPInHomeCustomDesign, I am warning everyone please save your money for a company who stands behind their product! I have 13 windows that are either without window coverings or ones that do NOT work! read more

very friendly and nice store! always great deals to find in every department!!!! very nice

Two months back, I went in for a hair cut. I'm till dealing with the ramifications of how poor it was. Because of that, I can no longer say that their salon is worthy of going to. I'd stay away from getting an actual hair cut (trims are probably still fine) at this salon. read more

I don't shop at Penny's often, but the couple times I have been in this store, have been good experiences. Last time I was there, it was my 5 year old daughter and myself. She needed "running" shoes. I found her "running" shoes and a pair of black flats for a total of $18. The shoes weren't no-namers, either. I believe her tennies are Sketchers and the flats are Candies. read more

The JC Penny's in Algonquin is a very organized clean store. their selection of dresses was wonderful. They keep their clearance looking almost identical to their dresses that are not on sale. Never seen anything like it. I went to the JC Penny's in Woodfield it was an absolute Disaster so unorganized. I couldn't find anything they were all in with the wrong sizes. There were clothes on the floor it was terrible. I highly recommend you shop JC Pennys in Algonquin Commons in Algonquin. Great store so very very organized. read more

The Sephora at this location, is a disgrace. This location is ALWAYS filthy. Go take a look by the makeup brushes that are for sale; you will find most have been tested out, (and I mean multiple brushes of the same designs, not just the testers- either way, they should be clean!) the area is low on stock, and therefore what is available is open/dirty. They always seem to use that corner as an area to pile stock that they also don't have time to put away. Hygiene is of utmost importance, and these ladies don't seem to fully grasp that. Infections are real. Bodily fluids from tear ducts, saliva, acne, herpes, common cold, etc are crawling all over this place. I did not see hand sanitizer at any of the testing supply areas, either. read more

Nice, clean store and very nice and helpful staff, but they always seem to be short staffed in the evenings and on a few occasions, I couldn't find anyone to ring me up. read more

Spent 3 hours shopping at this location yesterday and I had to put my items to purchase on hold because I left my coupon at home. Apparently, the clerk could have easily checked the coupons available through my rewards program, but she failed to do that, so I went home. They told me that I can place my items on hold for 24 hours. 15 hours later, my items were put back on the floor. Why? The manager had no idea and simply told me, "Sorry, someone must have put them back" and that's all she told me. 3 hours of my life is gone and they don't care. I had all my Christmas gifts selected and ready for purchase, but they were gone and all I got was a sorry. I am never wasting my time or money at this retail place, where the employees do not get paid enough to care. Pft. Never again. read more

My family and I went here this week for family photos - there were nine of us (my family, sister's family and my parents) and the photographer did a great job of getting all the different pose groupings done in an efficient manner as well as getting great photos. The pricing was great and the staff there did not try to fleece us with overpriced photo packages. read more

I have a men's size 13 foot and was in desperate need of some new shoes. Their selection of mens shoes is absolutely pitiful. Where I work, I need to wear a pair of shoes that need to be able to withstand some wear and tear, and most of the shoes they had there were all about style and nothing else. I was only able to find two pairs of shoes that fit what I was looking for. One of the boxes only had one shoe in it, and the other pair was covered in some kind of orange dirt. The prices were impossible to find because none of the display shoes were up and the whole department seemed jumbled. it was as if they were reorganizing the department or something, but there was only one employee there and he didn't seem to be doing much to help the condition. I went to the front of the store to purchase the pair of dirty shoes, since they appeared to be the only functioning option. There was clearly some misunderstanding at the register, because the woman thought I was trying to return them. i think she thought that because their dirt made them look used. I told her that I was actually going to buy them, and she started speaking to me in a tone that made me feel like a child, as If i were crazy. I found out that the pair of shoes was going to cost me 70 dollars. I asked for a discount because they were dirty, and she gave me 10%. I know it's only common practice, but it still wasn't enough. i left without the shoes. My last pair of shoes I was able to purchase on Amazon for half that amount. That, and it only took me seconds to select the style and size that I needed. Needless to say I will never shop at JC penny again. read more

Thanks for your help today Suzanne. Great customer service!

I've always loved JCPenney! This location is pretty new, clean and the staff is very pleasant.

I avoid the mall at all costs. This store is great for me. I found the selection to be plentiful and the service outstanding. An associate that helped us in Women's and at the checkout were both very professional. read more

I cannot say enough about Carlos in the photo lab. He was amazing! He took his time, got the right pictures, was patient, and we had a great conversation while he worked. I have been going to JCP pictures for 7 years now, and never once have I had the 'WOW' experience as I did with Carlos taking my daughters pictures. Great Job!!! read more

JCP Salon, Bonnie is the best! Professional, cheerful and friendly, super creative and great advice for hair care - thank you!

This is NOT for JC Penny but for the Sephora inside Jc Penny though, I've been to several Sephora and this one has to be the BEST and its NOT busy compare to other Sephora' I've been to which is a plus! The manager Angelina is GREAT and helpful too! I find Sephoras that are outside JC Penny are more busier vs. being inside a JC Penny but it's plus to me. I just go to this JC Penny for Sephora other than that I've shopped once here and find it smaller compare to other JC Pennys I've been to and more pricier but I just loved the OLD JC Penny before they remodeled everything including their logo and whole store! read more

I asked the front desk clerk at the salon the price to curl my kid hair and was informed it's $24.99. On the day of the appointment, we were charge $65. I told the dresser that the clerk said kids curl is only $24.99. She said it's $65, but they'll reduce it to $45. That's still $20 more than what we expected. very unhappy and disappointed with their service. We will never go there again! read more

Be aware...if you are ordering at the store to have shipped to your home you will be waiting longer than expected. I ordered a patio set on 06/03/2018 and explained to the kid I needed it for a party on the 9th. Paid for 3 day shipping at $4.99. It is now the 13th and no one knows where my items are. Both online and the customer service 800 number tell me is that it has been shipped and customer service reffered me to the Algonquin store. I Spoke with a manager at the store and he advised that customer service "does that a lot and makes customers run in circles". read more

We used JCPenney Portrait for our twins' first birthday pictures and I can't say enough positive things about our experience! The staff, especially Mandi, was great with the girls and so patient with them. Mandi took her time and made sure we were 110% satisfied with the shots she took before we left the camera room. The pics were great, the prices were right, and the overall experience was great. We will definitely go back! read more

Angie C. in the salon is top notch with cut and color. I have never met such a gentle hair stylist in my life! I could barely feel her working my hair and the finished result was beautiful. All this being said and it was my first visit! She is personable and really LISTENS to her customers. Even better, my total for cut and color was $50 less than what I normally pay. Great job Angela! I already scheduled my girls for their cuts! read more

I ordered a pair of women's boots on-line on 11.9.19. I received an email confirmation that the order was received. I waited. And waited. And never received an email to pick them up. On 11.14.19 I called customer service to check on the status. The rep told me that they were shipped, but could not tell me anything else. Why not? She suggested that I go to the store directly to check on them. What the heck! What happened to my pick-up email? Isn't ordering on-line supposed to be more convenient for the customer? Now I have to take time out of my day to track them down. 11.16.19 I go to the store and my order is actually there. I asked why I did not get an email pick-up notification. This is not the first time this has happened. The rep tried to help me and called their customer service number. SHE IDENTIFIED HERSELF AS AN EMPLOYEE, EXPLAINED MY SITUATION AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT HELP HER. THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST HER AT ALL AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO HER MANAGER. FOR WHAT? SHE EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AGAIN, AND THEY STILL WOULD NOT HELP HER. JCP'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAP!!!! NO WONDER THEY ARE ABOUT TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!! read more
