I ordered lunch here today. I just wanted a couple of small appetizers and nothing big, and I was impressed. I placed my order online and by the time I got there it was ready. I ordered tuna tataki and tatsuta age. The tuna was fresh and the sauce had a nice flavor. The chicken was good, slightly dry, and the dipping sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. They definitely did not season or marinate that beef -the onions and few veggies we're okay but not seasoned -the teriyaki sauce was the most bland I've ever had. I had to add salt! I've never had to add salt to a teriyaki dish! -the miso soup was bland and the seaweed in it was "off" -the salad contained a lot of core from the iceberg lettuce, a very mushy tomato, and the ginger dressing was horrible! Super super bland and watered down. My coworker was even shocked. The California roll fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Safe to say I won't be ordering from here again. Stopped by today to pick up lunch. The inside of the restaurant is clean and decorated like most traditional Japanese restaurants. It was completely empty when I went in at 12:30 to pick up my order which I did via yelp. Overall a simple and seamless process. It said 15-35mins which was about right. I had the 3 rolls special. Eel avocado, salmon avocado and tuna avocado rolls. It also comes with miso soup and salad for $12.25 which is what you will typically pay around here. Had a terrible experience getting takeout from this place. First off, they forgot one of the items in my order. Second, the food was just not good. Plain and simple. I ordered a few sushi rolls, a chirashi, and an Unagi don. The chirashi was particularly disappointing because there were only 4 types of sashimi (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and snapper). So no shrimp, no sweet egg, no squid, no eel, etc. In addition, the sashimi was poorly cut and lacking any consistency in size and thickness. The spicy salmon roll I got was also awful. The bowl always has an ample amount of pork katsu and egg and they never seem to try and "skimp" out on the pork portion or egg either. It also comes with BOTH a soup and salad. And all for $11.50! Mei Sushi has, for a long time now, been a very consistent and convenient sushi spot. I've gotten delivery and takeout from here more times that I can count and have also dined in a few times. All the cool kids used to come here to eat lunch back in my high school days (yes, this place has been around for that long). Though it is nothing out of the ordinary, I have never had any issues in terms of service or quality. We've always been treated very well and on the rare occasion that something goes wrong, they've made up for it twofold. The restaurant itself is pretty small but it's never super packed (as far as I've seen) so you're usually guaranteed to get a seat relatively quickly. Soup and salad are fine (they come with every main dish, so who doesn't like a freebee). I personally am not too big a fan of sushi virtually anywhere outside of Toro. I usually order the Oyako-don (bowl of rice chicken, egg, veggies, other stuff over rice) or Unagi-don (Eel over a sauce/rice). I personally prefer the Scallion version of the Teryiaki dishes (Chicken/Beef Negimaki). I order usually an eggplant dish for my appetizer called Nasu Shiguyaki, it has a nice sweet miso glaze. If you are really hungry, get the large bowl dishes such as Sukyaki. Trust me, the dish can feed more than one person (and I eat a lot as well). Mochi desserts are refreshing, mango is probably the best version. If you are stopping for lunch instead of dinner, skip dessert here and go to Zadie's (a delicious Kosher bakery). Appetizers range from 2.00 to 6.50. Dishes range from 8.50 to 14.99. Sushi ranges but most rolls are 10 to 12 (the norm for the area). read more

Order take out from this place through door dash... and its really disappointing... maybe the dine in experience is better but def not the take out version I ordered agedashi tofu.. and its literally just fried tofu... this dish is supposed to be serviced with a dashi based sauce... not to mention the tofu is supposed to be soft or even better.. silken tofu so it melts in ur mouth.. but they probably used all purpose so it taste tough. No grated white radish of course.. Also ordered tuna tartar.. it was oddly flavored.. like it doesnt taste like much but it was on a bed of shredded beats.. which might look nice but beats has a pretty strong flavor in my opinion so it made the tuna taste like grass even though i only ate the tuna.. Also ordered a naruto roll.. which was honestly.. not too bad. Falling apart a bit, and the crabs look not so fresh... but overall taste okay. Also ordered gyoza.. which is just basic, standard, no different from frozen gyoza i got in the asian super market. Finally a Tuna Poke... the sauce was only on the Tuna.. everything else was just plain... so obviously lacking in sauce. Great little sushi spot to have a quick lunch that is both filling and within budget because everyone knows eating out at lunch is your get-a-way time to relax and if the food is bad and price is high- that's just a mess. Mei Sushi, is I think warm and inviting whether you eat at the bar or at a booth. Really nice lunch specials for rolls and the bento box is no joke, plenty filling. I've always enjoyed coming to Mei Sushi - they do a great job with their sushi and have good prices. However, recently I was there with a friend and the sushi chef was literally hacking up phlegm behind the sushi counter. So much so it was very difficult to sit there and listen to him knowing he was preparing food for people dining in and out. This was really a turn off and I cannot believe that management would even allow him to come to work and allow him to hack up phlegm like that while customers were present. I placed a phone order for delivery and when speaking to the person on the phone, they gave me the cost that was on the menu, plus an added delivery charge. Okay, no problem. Upon receiving the order, they changed the cost of my entree without my knowledge. It was not noticeable until you see the receipt. It's beyond me how a business manages to stay open when deceitful. To top it off, I was shorted the number of sashimi pieces and the greens were not fresh. The tips were already yellow. This was an amazing place to me when I went there recently. I wanted to stay since it was a great looking, cozy place, but I just took "some takeout" and had it at work. Mei Sushi was our go-to for sushi delivery until last night. 1. When we called in our order, we were told the food would take 40 - 45 minutes. I called an hour later and the receptionist said she is very busy and would look into it, and hung up on me. I called back and she apologized and said that they were making our order and would deliver right away. 2. When we received our food 20 minutes later, we were appalled by what we saw on the tray. There were at least 2 fish bones mixed in with the ginger. There was a fish scale in in our rainbow roll. The salmon and fluke sashimi was frozen. 3. We called the restaurant yet again to complain about the food, the receptionist said she would talk to the manager and give us "credit" and hung up. I understand that it was Valentine's Day and they were busy, but this is no excuse for the poor customer service and horrible quality of the food.
