Came here searching for particular kind of produce back in 2015 with no luck. Had zero luck finding help, after seraching for the product and digging through shelves myself, I found they did not have it. Ended up purchasing a non perishable item which was very expensive, but regular supermarkets do not carry the brand they had. Fast forward to this year and it still reeks... The place has: Limited variety of H foods for the size of the store Awful customer service as in NONE Reeks of rotting "something" Cashiers are rude and clueless Disorganized and dirty aisles The most disgusting thing was what I found behind the dry beans. It is not the market for me to buy international food. Though limited, I could find the basic international in an American supermarket like Safeway and Giant. But better yet, H Mart is nicer to shop for international food. In Megamart, you feel the culture and belonging to the culture; however, the store is disorganized, unattractive, and unclean. If you're Hispanic, this a staple market to shop! They have everything that reminds you a little bit of home. I truly go for the Dominican products, which there aren't ok many but I still am able to find dominican food staples. The salami is a bit pricey but everything else is just fine. I also love that they give you a complimentary liter of soda once you have purchased more than a set dollar amount (maybe $50?). Will continue to support. I've shopped at the Laurel location twice and both times had horrible experience. Just yesterday 2/2/2021 I purchased salted pigs tails and after cooking it discovered it was rotted. The smell of rotted meats are horrible in that store. I tried calling 5 times and was put on hold each times and no one returned to the phone which forced me to hang up. I will never shop at that store again. read more

This was my first time at this store. The employees I encountered were very nice, demonstrated great customer service; practice social distancing and provided gloves to each of their customers. They allowed a certain number of customers into the store to shop at a time unlike my recent visit to a nearby store Super Best International market. I would recommend MegaMart to my friends and family and definitely visit that store again. If you're looking for international produce and goods shop at MegaMart. They may not have all that you want but the experience and professional attitude by the workers there is worth the visit. read more

What a terrible place to shop. It does not deserve the single star it gets. A few reasons why you should avoid this place: 1. Awful produce. If produce was not downright rotten, it was quickly getting there. Most of the greens (lettuce, kale, etc) were wilted beyond belief. The root vegetables were so old they were dried out. The avocados were all black and extremely mushy and the pineapples were so ripe they were no longer a nice yellow but more orange-like and oozing liquid. 2. Overpriced. The terrible produce was marked up 2-3 times over a normal grocery store. That pineapple I was describing, which in fact applied to all the pineapples they had, would have been garbage anywhere else. Here they were selling it for $4.29! I can buy an organic pineapple at a normal grocery store for less than that. I checked the products from Mexico, like canned chiles and tortillas, and the mark up was at least $1 from the small mom and pop stores in the neighborhood. Also checked flour for arepas and other basics - same huge mark ups. 3. The store is filthy. The carts look so disgusting that I couldn't even bring myself to use one. Need I say more? 4. The employees are worse than the fruit. As I was walking down the isles several of them were restocking. I made sure to stay out of their way but as they were cutting boxes they were throwing stuff my way and almost hit me with an empty box. Others were just huddled talking and blocking the isles; they didn't even think about mixing because they were laughing so hard and having too much fun, I had to turn around and go a different way. The cashier was flirting with a guy and I had to wait 5 minutes (not exaggerating, really) for her to ring up the bag of flour I bought. The only reason anyone would go to this place is to get robbed blind for disgusting groceries and terrible service. Shame on the owners!!! read more

This market was once called "Panam Supermarket" and appears to be affiliated with the store in Hyattsville. It is definitely a Latin American market, with products from all over Central and South America, to include Colombian, Peruvian, Brazilian and El Salvadoran foods. I walked into this store a couple years back when it was the Panam Supermarket and I was turned off. The store was dark and disorganized, and the meat counter appeared...unhygienic. Since it had been awhile I decided to pop back in to see if anything had changed. The first thing I noticed was the new name: Mega Mart. The inside definitely looked like the new ownership had upgraded a few things- better lighting, better layout. The prices seemed pretty good, especially for produce. The meat counter had not changed much. It definitely was focussed on Latin American and Caribbean cuts of meat. I had to ask for goat and lamb, but they did have it out back. Not exactly a planned stop, but because of where I was and the pattern of traffic it was the easiest grocery to get to for some dinner supplies. It's a mid sized bodega, bigger than Bestway but smaller than the massive Super Best and without the Asian emphasis. Very nice selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, peppers in bulk rather than prepackaged like Bestway, very good variety of spices and dried peppers. Service butcher and fish counter, but I've got to say those blue crabs did not look like they were long for this world if they didn't get some water very soon. Crowded aisles, but people were very courteous about making room as necessary. Good prices. A definite place to come back to when I happen to be in the neighborhood. read more

Been here a couple of times to get groceries including lots of lovely spices and different vegetables. I was glad to have my smartphone to translate labels and figure out what I was buying where the labels weren't translated! I found very friendly cashiers and cheaper priced meats in addition to the usual products! read more

I typically go here for the meats (Mexican Chorizo, Costillas, and Carne Fajita). The store is packed wall to wall with merchandise, but is typically clean. May actually come in one day to do some price comparisons. Never had any issues with service here. Overall I like this store. read more

Great variety of fruits and vegetables Small space and it does feel like rush hour when trying to move the shopping cart around the store. The cashiers are HORRIBLE! Poorly trained! Rude! I guess they thought I didnt speak spanish (I look white) and were saying negative comments about me and other customers in line. When I answered them in spanish and I told them I knew what they were saying instead of apologizing they just handed me my change and kept working. On another occasion a cashier marked up the apples I had gotten for the wrong price when brought to her attention she got angry at me and when her coworker told her I was right, she didnt apologize at all. Stopped in on a Wednesday and the produce was scarce. What was left of it was rotting. The store had an odor, I almost threw up. I breezed through quickly and had one item in my cart when it was time to check out. Of th items on my list to pick up, one they just did not carry and the other 5 items I refused to purchase. I don't know about the owners of this place but when I shop I don't expect to have to choose from a selection of rotten food. At the register I was then told there was a ten dollar minimum for cards! Really!?!? That's not my problem-- I would've purchased more if AGAIN the food was not rotten!!! And the stench, they are lucky I even decided to buy that one item. Which, after being told about minimum, I left behind and just walked out. Total waste of time. Ended up going to Super Best. Where the produce was Super Fresher than this place. read more

Although this place is my go-to four scallions, cilantro, and fresh peppers, I find myself leaving and not being able to have the full experience since there's no communication with anyone. One of the most tricky part is at check out when there are issues with the cashiers being able to tell you the total amount for your purchase as well as when you give change, there are issues with them knowing how much change to give their customers if they're not paying with a credit card. I just try to give exact cash, even it's 97cents. read more

This place is terrible, absolutely terrible. The smell when you walk in is horrible, like you can smell somewhat sweat when you walk in. Customer service, if compared to something, its compared to trash because i was waiting in line for over 40 mins and there were only several people in front of me with at most 12 items each. When i got to the counter, i found the cashier talking to people, like actual conversation, stop ringing up items to do hand motions and so on. It's was aggravating how they could hire just about anyone who aren't doing what they're suppose to be doing. How they're putting their personal life before their job in the work area. I would advise to not visit here. At all, it would be a waste of time. read more

This place doesn't deserve any stars. The majority of the staff are rude and unprofessional. The guys who work in the seafood section do not properly clean the fish. The cashiers are unprofessional. I've noticed they are prejudice to persons who are not Hispanic. I've visited on five different occasions and the service was poor each time. Notably, the fruits and vegetables are of good quality. I am from Langley Park so its hard to find a good Megamart that's not in Hyattsville. Since moving to AA Co. this is where I go when needing the fajita meat and other ethnic ingredients. Very pleased. Prices and quality just about same as Langley Park. Definitely shop here.... read more
