After reading some of the reviews, I had some reservations about visiting this store; however, I was pretty certain that this international market would have the items that I was looking for, so I decided to give it a try. In fact, I visited the store twice in one week because I liked the variety. Thankfully, both visits were uneventful. The store has a lot from which to choose, including a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. There are also a host of many other international items. I purchased a lot of fruit that I typically cannot find in most grocery stores. All of my produce was fresh from the lychee to the Asian pears and everything in between. Some prices are really good while others are marginally higher than other stores. With that said, I purchased what made sense and left what did not. The ambiance is on par with a typical grocery store setting with the extra added international feel. Since my visits have been specific, I have not had the opportunity to fully navigate the store to see what other international food items I can find. Would I return? As long as the visits continue to be uneventful, I will visit again from time to time. read more

WORST GROCERY STORE EVER! Not only very expensive, but they don't allow you to take shopping carts into the parking lot! WT ever-loving F?!?! I had to carry a 40 pound bag of rice and two bags of groceries to my car parked 50 yards away! Either that, or leave my groceries there in the cart, then go get my car. In this neighborhood, I'm sure my groceries would've been gone! Stupid management decision. read more

I have shopped at Super Best Supermarket in Laurel for over 10 years, and today was the final straw. The store has now blocked customers from taking shopping carts to their cars, forcing people to carry full loads of groceries from the store entrance to the parking lot, often requiring multiple trips. This is disrespectful, unsafe, and inaccessible, especially for elderly customers, parents, and anyone with physical limitations. There was no accommodation, no alternative solution, and no concern shown for customers' time or well-being. The expectation is simply that shoppers will absorb the inconvenience. What makes this especially troubling is that this store largely serves immigrant and working-class communities, and it feels like management is counting on customers being less likely to complain or push back. Long-time loyal shoppers are being treated as if their comfort and dignity don't matter. If carts are being lost or misused, that is a management problem, not a customer problem. Other grocery stores manage this without punishing their patrons. After a decade of loyalty, I am deeply disappointed. This policy sends a clear message about how customers are valued--and I will be taking my business elsewhere unless this decision is reversed. read more

The person behind the customer service counter was extremely rude. My daughter and I took an Uber over to the market. She travels with a backpack on lieu of a purse. She asked at the counter if she could leave her backpack at customer service and the person behind the counter yelled and told her no and to leave. Do they have signs up? yes but they also have signs saying to leave bags and backpacks at the counter which is very contradicting. I understand the rules but to yell and get loud for no reason is unacceptable. We just left without any issue or back and forth. Their loss, we'll spend our money elsewhere. Super Best stinks inside! I'm just gonna say that first! Very fishy smelling that hits you at the door! However, it is an international market with a seafood department! Either way, it shouldn't smell that bad but it does! I do opt in for the fresh produce! They have awesome prices for produce that you cannot find in a traditional grocery store! I like to make dishes that require international ingredients that I cannot find in Giant or Safeway! I do prefer H Mart, but they are further away when I need something quick! Came here on a recommendation from a friend. Was on a hunt for oxtail. They sell it here for $12.99/lb. Not a bad price. The meat was a bit fatty but it could work! The place has a "strong" smell. Even through my mask the odor was alot! Speaking of masks, I saw some without in the store. I guess they don't enforce that here. Walked around the store. Hrm... this place needs some TLC. Unfortunately the place smells really bad - like spoiled seafood and meat - so I normally don't stay in very long, and I have to be in NEED of something to even think of going. Last time I was in there for bread, most of the bread was molded, but I decided to walk around the store and see if the meat was priced low, it wasn't, actually most of their fresh produce and meats seemed rather high. I would skip this store if you have the time to go to another international market, there are other options in the area that are cleaner and don't smell as bad. read more

I'm always amazed at all of the food choices they have to offer. The ambiance is not the best but it's fitting to match the array of international food & ingredients they have to chose from. Hard to find fresh Fruits & veggies and fresh fish in the back. Be sure to wear your comfortable shoes because there are aisles of pure international love. I would really love to give this store a five star, but I just cannot not get pass the very bad smell that hits you as soon as you walk in. I went back once after my first visit because I do like the extensive variety of items there, but I cannot endure the offensive odor for a third time even though it has a lot of products that I'd like to have. I hope management reads this review (not the first to comment on smell), and invest some of that profit into some heavy duting air refreshner system. read more

Overall not a bad store. Like many stores that label themselves as being international it has a heavy Asian feel as far as the products offered. If you have been in an H Mart this place will be very familiar to you. Some of the same premise as it has a deli in it specializing in Korean plates and the always present check cashing/phone cards to various countries in Central America. The selection of fish is impressive and the employees who work in the seafood section are quick when it comes to cutting up your fish in any way you like. You basically pick up a bowl and use the tongs to select the fish you want. Another plus of this place is that it does have a large selection of items from the Caribbean compared to other international supermarkets. read more

They never pick up phone calls. And the guys who clean up the fish steal from customers. When you ask them to cut up your fish. They act busy and give you back less than the whole fish. This has happened several times to family members. The fish cleaners are nothing but thieves. read more

Each time I've been to this store I have been able to find what I was looking for but I just keep forgetting about the awkward payment systems that they have. They will take your debit card however the credit feature is not available and you are forced to enter a pin. For safety reasons I don't use the debit option in public places, but instead I use credit options because it's safer. I will never forget this experience and I'll make sure that I'm using a credit card or cash when I go here because I cannot expose myself because they're being cheap. read more

We came to this store just to get some tofu, but ended buying more food than expected. Comments here are only on the Asian section of the store. The dried foods, such as coffee mixes and cookies, cost lower than full fledged Asian grocery stores in Rockville like Great Wall and New York Mart. In the back right corner of the store, there is a Korean bakery offering various pastries. There is no need to drive far to Rockville to buy Asian foods any more. I really like coming here to do my particular shopping. When you're looking for that exotic fruit or vegetable to complete that new recipe that you found on the internet, this is the place to come to. They have everything from so many different countries and cultures including Latino, Asian to Middle Eastern. The only bad thing about this place is the aroma that greets your nose once your inside the store. It's a warm fishy smell which is probably from the seafood department in the back. Not a spoiled fish smell just a smell that will make you either do your shopping a bit quicker or eventually you'll get used to it....lol. It is not the "Best" but it's what we've got. Any time I need stuff for Asian or hispanic foods, I can find it here. I've had great luck with the produce and it all moves fast so it's been fresh. They've got ny of kind of Asian noodle variety you can think of, including Korean rice cakes which can be hard to find. Canned goods like the Asian sauces have been fine. Some of it can be downright sketchy so you have to check your items very very closely. I once bought frozen bao buns, and when I brought them home they were MOLDY and 6 months past date. I've never in my life seen frozen food get moldy so that was a little scary. Another time, I didn't feel like making an extra stop at Aldi so I grabbed a block of generic cheddar cheese. It was sealed and the date was fine but when I was putting my groceries away I saw that it also had mold. I really do not have the patience to inspect every grocery for mold so when I come here, I just stick with what I know - the produce. read more

I understand that it's a global pandemic occurring right now, and the items that are in stock are not going to be top quality, but there certainly shouldn't be visibly rotting produce for sale marked up either. Prices at Super Best are second to Whole Foods if you ask me, so no reason why the food shouldn't be at least farmer's market fresh. Also the customer service could be a lot better, just bc the store sells many items you cannot find elsewhere doesn't mean customers aren't deserving of a clean, well kept and helpful environment. Another instance that bothered me was the Korean bakery - I purchased an assortment of pastries, and every last one of them were critically stale. Critical bc one of my family members actually cracked a tooth biting into a rainbow sprinkle coated sugar cookie! And I bought 4 of those. I'd shopped here before and didn't remember having to pay then and there at the back of the store in the bakery, but the bakery lady insisted. At the time I didn't mind bc I was hankering for one of the 'delicious' pastries I'd picked out. Ha! Every.thing.STALE..and disgusting, like the flavor was weird and seemed spoiled on the verge of mold. Now my mind is wandering into conspiracy theories that the bakery is really a front for something unsavory going on in the back of the kitchen Anyway, i am choosing to only come here if *critically* necessary going forward. I only buy their seafood here and veggies their meat I don't trust it cause it can be spoiled at times! So the fruits ! But I love their fresh seafood here! And also come here for seasoning that I can't find at my favorite grocery shopping place! So I come here to get international seasoning! I just moved here from the west coast where there is a strong Asian influence in the population. I decided to check this place out since I heard it had a great selection of international foods. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a fishy smell. Most of the produce looked very fresh. As you head to the back corner at the end of aisle 1, it starts to smell like manure. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of cuts of meat. A majority of the store's aisles were stocked with Latin goods. There's a small aisle of Caribbean and African goods and the second largest selection is Asian, but I'd rather make the trek to H Mart in EC for a better selection. My low review doesn't have anything to so with smells or selection that I was seeking, but rather the state of store and quality of service from the employees. Many of the aisles were clogged up with product on the floor making it difficult to navigate through the store. None of the employees could assist me when looking for a particular Asian candy for my son, there really was no effort on their part to help; something was muttered under their breath in Spanish and they walked away. The checkout clerk wasn't any better either. She was rolling her eyes at the customer ahead of us and when the customer behind us asked how much a minimum credit card purchase was, she rolled her eyes again. The customer rephrased her question in Spanish instead of English and the clerk finally responded. If you're looking for Latin groceries and can speak spanish, then maybe this is the place for you and you'll likely be treated with some respect. I'm never going here again, I'll just drive to the nearest H Mart! read more

My first visit since the name change. Little change, generally for the better. I needed some fermented black beans, a little-known Chinese condiment that you have unknowingly tasted in such dishes as Lobster Cantonese. It is key in the first Chinese dish I learned to cook, asparagus with chicken and black beans, that has become my rite of Spring. Long story short, I found them. In fact, if there is an Asian or Latino ingredient or flavoring that your palate desires, it is here. The vegetable section is astounding, many varieties of each type and all lovely and fresh and way less expensive than the pitiful specimens in the chain store. The organization of the rest of the store is now more regional, with Latino goods on the north end, hard goods and ordinary groceries in the middle, and Asian toward the south. Along the back wall is the meat department with all those unusual cuts, and a seafood department with mostly whole fish, laid out on the customer side of the counter so they can be examined for freshness, and a big poster over the counter enumerating the seven different ways they can be cleaned. Now, you may not need 6 varieties of bok choy, 10 different brands of fish sauce, or pickled mud fish, but stop by anyway. You are almost certain to discover some new taste treat, or the key to recreating that gem you had last night. read more

Very fresh and bountiful vegetable selections! I love it! This market is mainly a mixture of Asian, Latino, and Caribbean foods...but there is something for everyone. A lot of the seafood is fresh, but I would be cautious about the pre-filleted fish and "freshly thawed" shellfish. I would even go as far as to say that the fish section is not for the (American) faint of heart. Yes, they're cutting fish heads off with their cleavers, there's a nasty looking farmed raised whole salmon with its reddish (aka spoiled) eyes staring right at you, and you have to pick your own fish to clean, scale, and fillet all by yourself with those soggy and unhygienic-looking tongs...but, what other grocery store around here can you experience all of this at? Yeah, it's an amusement park, if you ask me Okay...now, if you're the kind of foodie, like I am, just put your big girl panties on and wander in. They have 20 types of tofu, soba noodles, pho noodles, pancit noodles, quail eggs, 3 crab fish sauce, masa, queso blanco, kobucha squash, culantro, yu choy, shrimp chips, fresh lemongrass, green papayas, cute little philippine mangoes, shishito peppers, need I say more?!! Plus, 2 weeks ago, you can now snack on a bowl of pho for $5.95 or 3 pork spring rolls for $2.50 if your shopping adventure wears you out...like writing this review and thinking about all the colorful aisles of Japanese, Thai, Mexican, and Korean goodies has just wore me out. Bought a 20 lb bag of rice there for $15. When my wife and I got it home, we opened the bag to find it had mildew in the rice. So we brought it back to the store to get a refund, naturally. We were told that since we opened the bag of rice, they could not accept the return! I asked them nicely how we can check the rice without opening up the bag in the future. All I got was a blank stare for about a minute! I may go into the store and open up several bags of rice to ensure I get one that is fresh!
