After reading some of the reviews, I had some reservations about visiting this store; however, I…read morewas pretty certain that this international market would have the items that I was looking for, so I decided to give it a try. In fact, I visited the store twice in one week because I liked the variety. Thankfully, both visits were uneventful. The store has a lot from which to choose, including a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. There are also a host of many other international items. I purchased a lot of fruit that I typically cannot find in most grocery stores. All of my produce was fresh from the lychee to the Asian pears and everything in between. Some prices are really good while others are marginally higher than other stores. With that said, I purchased what made sense and left what did not. The ambiance is on par with a typical grocery store setting with the extra added international feel. Since my visits have been specific, I have not had the opportunity to fully navigate the store to see what other international food items I can find. Would I return? As long as the visits continue to be uneventful, I will visit again from time to time.

I had to carry a 40 pound bag of rice and two bags of groceries to my car parked 50 yards away! Either that, or leave my groceries there in the cart, then go get my car. In this neighborhood, I'm sure my groceries would've been gone! Stupid management decision.

This is the one of the exact reasons that I moved from Upper Marlboro to Laurel- for the vast…read morevariety in shopping. And Big Bazaar is definitely a winner. I came across this place while looking for another store. When walking into Big Bazaar be ready for a fabulous surprise around every corner. This store is very bright and clean and very organized. I am not familiar with Indian food and spices but I have no problem testing and trying something out. Like my momma always says " You won't know until you try it" and so I did with many things from this store. I just grabbed a basket and roamed from aisle to aisle picking up anything that caught my eye. I found this really tasty Lychee drink, some tasty frozen cheese filled parathas, spice soda (this is definitely and acquired taste- think of it as a savory masala soda, but I just had to try it), some natural shampoo and facial cleanser. I believe some of my roaming around aimlessly looked like I needed a tour of India and that's what I got. The beautiful & gracious owner, Lavanya, came over and introduced herself. She walked around the store and answered all my questions. She explained the uses of many of the different spices to the natural remedies you can create from them too. She was full of so much useful information that our conversation lasted over 10 minutes. Now I must warn you, once you have filled up your basket and are ready to check-out you will walk towards the front of the store but before you get to the registers there is a table to the right full of homemade Indian treats, one of them being a huge and tasty samosas filled with curried potatoes and peas I believe. These badboys are so big and only 99 cents. So originally I bought 4 samosas. Once I had checked out at the register, I went to my car, put my groceries in the back seat and sat in the car. I was curious of how good the samosas were, so I decided to take a bite. And then another bite and another bite. All I know is that the 1st samosa was gone and I was like I have to go and get some more. Now don't judge me, I mean I ended up purchasing 10 samosas, but they weren't all for me, ok maybe 3 will be for me, but they were absolutely wonderful. Once I was home I turned my oven to 325 and heated up the samosa which gave the pastry a crispy texture, a little dab of the mango chutney or the tamarind & date chutney I bought and me and my family had a delicious afternoon snack.

The staff were friendly and helped me find a few of my ingredients. They have a huge variety of ingredients for Indian cooking. I was so excited after leaving that I started planning my return to try more items. Great international market!

It is definitely a Latin American market, with products from all over Central and South America, to include Colombian, Peruvian, Brazilian and El Salvadoran foods. I walked into this store a couple years back when it was the Panam Supermarket and I was turned off. The store was dark and disorganized, and the meat counter appeared...unhygienic. Since it had been awhile I decided to pop back in to see if anything had changed. The first thing I noticed was the new name: Mega Mart. The inside definitely looked like the new ownership had upgraded a few things- better lighting, better layout. The prices seemed pretty good, especially for produce. The meat counter had not changed much. It definitely was focussed on Latin American and Caribbean cuts of meat. I had to ask for goat and lamb, but they did have it out back. Overall, an improvement from what it once was.

Had zero luck finding help, after seraching for the product and digging through shelves myself, I found they did not have it. Ended up purchasing a non perishable item which was very expensive, but regular supermarkets do not carry the brand they had. Fast forward to this year and it still reeks... The place has: Limited variety of H foods for the size of the store Awful customer service as in NONE Reeks of rotting "something" Cashiers are rude and clueless Disorganized and dirty aisles The most disgusting thing was what I found behind the dry beans. Yep. We will never return to this place.
