This Indian Grocery is larger than most. It has spacious isles, is well organized and lots of fresh produce. The staff is friendly and helpful. In addition to the usual items, there's a moderate amount of stainless kitchen utensils. They have a large freezer section for modern family with everyone working outside the home - sometimes you simply don't have time to cook. Plenty of free parking.

So good, there is not much left. I think this tastes like a great coriander chutney with mint; just a LITTLE spicy.

My wife and I became aware of the Big Bazaar during my periodic internet search looking for Indian foods. We mentally filed away the location, then one day in Laurel, we stopped in. During our visit, the store was mostly empty of customers, one young male attending the checkout register. He was helpful in finding the green and black cardamom pods I sought. We did a bit more looking and I found the Patak's curries and picked... always a joy. Then I came across an interesting looking bottle of "National Green Chili Sauce". This stuff is REALLY good. While it is described as a chili sauce, I find that it is reminiscent of the good coriander and mint chutney we commonly find near the start of a GOOD Indian buffet line. I uploaded a photo so you aficionados can find it. The bottle looks a little worse-for-wear, but that is because we have been regularly hauling it to the table as a delicious condiment for many foods. I'll go back to the "Big Bazaar", if only to find that National Green Chili Sauce again, but I must admit, like other customers, I could NOT exit the store before purchasing four of the homemade Samosas on the checkout counter.

I found my favorite Indian snack at a great price.

Good selection of snacks and frozen foods. Limited produce section, but great prices. This place is far less expensive than other Asian markets. The homemade samosas are really tasty. The customer service is great. I will definitely be shopping here more frequently.

Huge & Tasty Samosas with either Mango Chutney or Tamarind and Date Chutney. Couldn't decided so I bought both...lol

This is the one of the exact reasons that I moved from Upper Marlboro to Laurel- for the vast variety in shopping. And Big Bazaar is definitely a winner. I came across this place while looking for another store. When walking into Big Bazaar be ready for a fabulous surprise around every corner. This store is very bright and clean and very organized. I am not familiar with Indian food and spices but I have no problem testing and trying something out. Like my momma always says " You won't know until you try it" and so I did with many things from this store. I just grabbed a basket and roamed from aisle to aisle picking up anything that caught my eye. I found this really tasty Lychee drink, some tasty frozen cheese filled parathas, spice soda (this is definitely and acquired taste- think of it as a savory masala soda, but I just had to try it), some natural shampoo and facial cleanser. I believe some of my roaming around aimlessly looked like I needed a tour of India and that's what I got. The beautiful & gracious owner, Lavanya, came over and introduced herself. She walked around the store and answered all my questions. She explained the uses of many of the different spices to the natural remedies you can create from them too. She was full of so much useful information that our conversation lasted over 10 minutes. Now I must warn you, once you have filled up your basket and are ready to check-out you will walk towards the front of the store but before you get to the registers there is a table to the right full of homemade Indian treats, one of them being a huge and tasty samosas filled with curried potatoes and peas I believe. These badboys are so big and only 99 cents. So originally I bought 4 samosas. Once I had checked out at the register, I went to my car, put my groceries in the back seat and sat in the car. I was curious of how good the samosas were, so I decided to take a bite. And then another bite and another bite. All I know is that the 1st samosa was gone and I was like I have to go and get some more. Now don't judge me, I mean I ended up purchasing 10 samosas, but they weren't all for me, ok maybe 3 will be for me, but they were absolutely wonderful. Once I was home I turned my oven to 325 and heated up the samosa which gave the pastry a crispy texture, a little dab of the mango chutney or the tamarind & date chutney I bought and me and my family had a delicious afternoon snack.

One of the best Indian grocery stores I've ever been in; this place could seriously compete even in a Little India area like Devon Ave.

Oh, and the décor is very nice! I personally really like the Earl Grey Spring & Mulberry date-sweetened chocolate. Of course, the packaging is so pretty it's hard to separate that from the taste and texture, too .... The honeys here are like none other I've had before! The absolute cutest little honey bears I've ever seen! There's one raw honey in a glass jar that's the only chewy honey I've ever tasted -- what a treat to eat a spoonful of that plain, direct from the jar, mmm! (I didn't just eat it for the taste or texture, though -- I started to eat it because I'd read about the great health benefits of honey!) I really really enjoy the smokiness of the Russian Caravan. Plus, it's fun to research, read and find out about such things as how this rather unique tea flavour came about -- that it was the result of actual campfire smoke flavouring the tea in the first place while travelling across Russia way-back-when that is now encapsulated in this oh-so-tasty tea! Tea is a really great gateway to learning about various cultures and world history! Maybe it's his-tea-ry! Persian Rose Garden tea is splendid -- mellow and rich, smooth, calming (I'm not saying it's medicinally calming, but rather that it's evocative of a certain atmosphere that may make you feel a certain way if you tune into it.) Turmeric ginger is very nice, too .... Overall, aesthetically beautiful, palate-pleasing place! Highly recommended!

All the looseleaf teas are made in-house by master tea-blenders who are constantly creating. The story of how I came to know about Shafa is pretty funny. A relative was sick and drinking some of the Shafa Blends' teas as a way to recover from a serious illness. I secretly doubted this would be of much benefit. However, to commiserate with him, I had a cup of their turmeric/ginger tea. And, don't you know, I felt better--and wasn't even the ailing person! So, now, I'm a believer. I like their Superior Earl Grey tea; the bergamot component is marvelous. There are other Earl Grey combinations, too. The rooibos is nice. And I can vouch for the fact that their teas keep their intensity long after purchase.

This spot has so many wonderful food stands. Upon walking in, you can pick up a cart to explore all of the stands. My kids love this place as much as me since you can find so much variety. Our first stop is the very busy Amish soft pretzel stand. My kids love the standard soft pretzel dipped in melted butter and topped with rock salt. My personal favorite are the stuffed soft pretzels like the pretzels stuffed with roast beef and cooper sharp cheddar. Nothing tastes better! There are also many other stands that offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. I particularly like Bieler's Donuts, the same place you'll find packed lines in Philadelphia right here. It's such a fun place and my kids love it. But most importantly, this is dad's spot!

Using his wits, his ingenuity, and unparalleled levels of skill and perseverance, Aatami Korpi, who earns the moniker of "the man who cannot die," escapes not just bombs and machine gun fire but a plane deployed as a missile. And yet, the most moving moment of the film is not found in one of its many arresting action sequences but in a single line of dialogue, spoken by one of six Finnish men, who, along with one teenager and one boy, carrying hatchets, axes, and tools, interrupts the battle-finished Korpi's work on his new home to ask in Finnish, subtitled in English, "We thought you might need some help?" Speechless and shaking with relief and joy, Korpi watches the strangers get to work on his roof, walls, and foundation.
