This is the one of the exact reasons that I moved from Upper Marlboro to Laurel- for the vast variety in shopping. And Big Bazaar is definitely a winner. I came across this place while looking for another store. When walking into Big Bazaar be ready for a fabulous surprise around every corner. This store is very bright and clean and very organized. I am not familiar with Indian food and spices but I have no problem testing and trying something out. Like my momma always says " You won't know until you try it" and so I did with many things from this store. I just grabbed a basket and roamed from aisle to aisle picking up anything that caught my eye. I found this really tasty Lychee drink, some tasty frozen cheese filled parathas, spice soda (this is definitely and acquired taste- think of it as a savory masala soda, but I just had to try it), some natural shampoo and facial cleanser. I believe some of my roaming around aimlessly looked like I needed a tour of India and that's what I got. The beautiful & gracious owner, Lavanya, came over and introduced herself. She walked around the store and answered all my questions. She explained the uses of many of the different spices to the natural remedies you can create from them too. She was full of so much useful information that our conversation lasted over 10 minutes. Now I must warn you, once you have filled up your basket and are ready to check-out you will walk towards the front of the store but before you get to the registers there is a table to the right full of homemade Indian treats, one of them being a huge and tasty samosas filled with curried potatoes and peas I believe. These badboys are so big and only 99 cents. So originally I bought 4 samosas. Once I had checked out at the register, I went to my car, put my groceries in the back seat and sat in the car. I was curious of how good the samosas were, so I decided to take a bite. And then another bite and another bite. All I know is that the 1st samosa was gone and I was like I have to go and get some more. Now don't judge me, I mean I ended up purchasing 10 samosas, but they weren't all for me, ok maybe 3 will be for me, but they were absolutely wonderful. Once I was home I turned my oven to 325 and heated up the samosa which gave the pastry a crispy texture, a little dab of the mango chutney or the tamarind & date chutney I bought and me and my family had a delicious afternoon snack. read more

Great experience at Big Bazaar! Had my list of ingredients I needed for a specific Indian dish. I went in and was able to easily locate each item. The staff were friendly and helped me find a few of my ingredients. They have a huge variety of ingredients for Indian cooking. I was so excited after leaving that I started planning my return to try more items. Great international market! read more

This is my go-to Indian grocery store. The selection is extensive and the prices are reasonable. I have been going here for years and haven't been disappointed. That's a compliment to this store because many Indian establishments -- sad to say -- often slide in quality precipitously after a few years of excellence. read more

This grocery store is huge and not only has so many Indian grocery and beverage items but also carries pots and pans, cleaning supplies, and other household goods. The prices are reasonable, the shelves are well stocked, and the parking lot has plenty of spots. I will definitely be back! read more

This Indian Grocery is larger than most. It has spacious isles, is well organized and lots of fresh produce. The staff is friendly and helpful. In addition to the usual items, there's a moderate amount of stainless kitchen utensils. They have a large freezer section for modern family with everyone working outside the home - sometimes you simply don't have time to cook. Plenty of free parking. read more

Been in DMV Area for 30+ years. This is the most expensive Indian Grocery store. The worst is the attitude of the cashier, when I complained about the prices being extremely outrageous, they responded "We Know". read more

My wife and I became aware of the Big Bazaar during my periodic internet search looking for Indian foods. We mentally filed away the location, then one day in Laurel, we stopped in. During our visit, the store was mostly empty of customers, one young male attending the checkout register. He was helpful in finding the green and black cardamom pods I sought. We did a bit more looking and I found the Patak's curries and picked... always a joy. Then I came across an interesting looking bottle of "National Green Chili Sauce". This stuff is REALLY good. While it is described as a chili sauce, I find that it is reminiscent of the good coriander and mint chutney we commonly find near the start of a GOOD Indian buffet line. I uploaded a photo so you aficionados can find it. The bottle looks a little worse-for-wear, but that is because we have been regularly hauling it to the table as a delicious condiment for many foods. I'll go back to the "Big Bazaar", if only to find that National Green Chili Sauce again, but I must admit, like other customers, I could NOT exit the store before purchasing four of the homemade Samosas on the checkout counter. read more

Big Bazaar - So good, there is not much left. I think this tastes like a great coriander chutney with mint; just a LITTLE spicy. - Herbs & Spices Near Me - Laurel, Maryland

Good selection of snacks and frozen foods. Limited produce section, but great prices. This place is far less expensive than other Asian markets. The homemade samosas are really tasty. The customer service is great. I will definitely be shopping here more frequently. read more

Big Bazaar - I found my favorite Indian snack at a great price. - Herbs & Spices Near Me - Laurel, Maryland

They always have the most fresh vegetables curry leaves and store is always neat and clean

One of the best Indian grocery stores I've ever been in; this place could seriously compete even in a Little India area like Devon Ave. in Chicago. Their selection is unbelievable; they carry things I've never seen anywhere else, like garam masala soda or cumin soda. And their selection of imported British Cadbury chocolates (not the inferior domestic knock-off) makes this place worth a trip from out of town. read more

The store is OK, except for the following - Some items are expired or near expiration on a regular basis(possibly purchased at throw away prices from vendors). Most of items are 50 cents to a Dollar higher than market. They mix fresh vegetables with the rotten one from previous day, so that they are able to sell of the bad ones as well. Staff has been trained to keep an eye on the customers and keep following them (as if people would steal their 2 dime grocery). Owner Lady is too interfering with customers and does not give space, for customer to browse around and think what they possibly could buy. And her smile shows she is faking it.. read more

Finally found New and improved Indian grocery store in the area. Totally worth it for fresh veggies and well organized Indian groceries. All the best for the future.. you will sure see us soon and regularly. Happy customer. read more

Welcome to another Indian grocery store ! They seem to have everything. If you are in the vicinity, check them out, they are tucked in the corner of a strip mall. Vada pavs and samosas are not that great or fresh tasting though. read more

This is probably the worst customer service I have ever received from an Indian shop owner.i have bought so many things from here on weekly basis but starting today I am not buying anything .what I have noticed is at time of selling they are really nice and when time comes to return something owner do not bother to come out to take care of issues. I was asking them to sell me replacement that they don't carry and they are trying to sale me same item with a 1 $ less.i don't recommend this place for business whose owner have no courtesy to come out to handle my issue. Beware of this type of business who are only concerned about selling and not to stand behind anything that they sell. read more

Awesome location and very friendly staff. Pricing is in line with other Indian markets but the store is beautifully organized and very easy to maneuver. Produce is fresh and there is a great, arguably excessive, variety of every Desi item you can think of! Will certainly be back. read more

Love this store! They have a great selection of Indian snacks and ice creams. Friendly staff.

Big Bazaar is a fairly big Indian Grocery store in MD. There are decent verities of food and goods here. The items are almost always fresh and not expired and prices are fair as well. read more

This is our newfound Indian grocery store. It's the best Indian store in the area, has all that you might need and the quality of all the products is excellent. They even have Hot Breads vegan pastries and a whole selection of local achaars and other savory food items. The best part of this store is it's an Indian store not just another Gujarati store. We've been in the area for about 11 years and had to go the local Patel brothers even if it meant encouraging their monopoly. This store has enabled us, the consumers to make a choice now. Thank you! Highly recommended!! read more

I am so glad I found this gem have every thing I need and much more. I love the customer service as well. If you are ever there you have to get a samosa they are so good I always get a couple when I go and come home and put in my airfryer taste so fresh read more

This place is awesome. The spice selection alone was enough to get me in the door, but they have a really large variety of Indian foods and fresh produce. Service has always been very friendly, and the prices are low. Overall A+. You should check it out! (p.s. Buy a fresh samosa for $1.) read more

The promise of freshly baked samosas drew me to this Indian supermarket, and they did not disappoint! The samosas were so delicious I ate 2 at room temp while sitting in my car...don't judge! My overall shopping experience was great, despite the fact that I am not an expert in Indian cuisine. The store is brightly lit, well organized, and clean. The produce looked fresh (albeit unrecognizable at times) and I easily found spices, chutneys, and more types of lentils than I knew existed. The staff was very friendly too. I will be back whenever I need any ingredient for an Indian dish or am just craving an awesome samosa for 99 cents. read more

Big Bazaar is everything I've wished that other local Indian grocers would be (but usually aren't) - spacious, well-lit, well-stocked, organized, labeled with information and prices, and friendly. Tucked into a Laurel shopping center alongside Red Sky, Hooters, and laser tag, this is a wonderful addition to the local international grocery scene. They have all of the Indian herbs, spices, chutneys, and pickles I could ever want... plus gorgeous produce and an impressive selection of refrigerated and frozen foods that are nearly ready to eat. I had to curb my instinct to fill a basket with all of the treasures I found, like pre-mixed dosai batter, giant bricks of paneer, imported Cadbury chocolates, and every flavor of kulfi imaginable. I will definitely be back with a cooler to raid their frozen section, and perhaps pick up some freshly-made samosas and pakoras. In the meantime, I happily snatched up some fresh curry leaves and cilantro (staples in our kitchen), a few fingers of yellow turmeric (much cheaper than buying at fancy grocers), and an assortment of spices and canned and jarred goods. Since it was a hot day, I also picked up some lassi pouches and a honey basil seed drink. Mmmm! The best part of our visit with meeting co-owner Lavanya, who checked on us to see if we needed assistance with anything. We showed her a few items on our shopping list and she helped us find them. It was a pleasure to shop at Big Bazaar and I look forward to many visits in the future! read more

A decent selection of groceries. The owner tries to order what is requested. Thier prices on the Bangnapalli mangoes were amazing! Clean, well stock, and growing. I'd pass on the chat on Sundays; then again, it may have been a bad day (I'm not doing that again though). read more
