Might be my new favorite grocery store to go to. I am also happy to see that they didn't let an old grocery location just sit there abandoned. I needed a few items I wasn't able to find elsewhere and I decided to give this place a go. Upon entry I will say that they could afford to light a few more lights in here. It was rather dim. And I know this is no fault to them, but get the customers under control. As soon as I entered there was a customer acting a fool. I have no idea what had happened, but she didn't mind reading this woman the riot act. Then after she finished her first tirade, she started on everyone else. Listen lady, I'm here to pick up some celery and odds and ends, I wasn't even in this store. She kept this up the whole time she was in the store, whoever irked her, great job. After going through the produce section, which is quite fresh here. It says that it is fresh from the fields and I agree. Some of the best produce I have bought and it tasted quite fresh. I then made my way up and down the aisles. Each aisle was a different ethnicity. And each aisle was packed full with items that you would have to search far and wide for. I walked out of her with way too many snacks that are hard to find and do not regret it one bit. Yes, the customer service here could be worked on. But if they have to deal with customers like I described, I can see why they adjust their attitudes. read more

Global food has very organized stocking, good customer service and fresh produce

This place is very good if you need some international foods or get things not usually found in regular stores. The store is clean just a bit smelly but it is understandable due to the seafood and butcher departments . It is a bit confusing for the labels but you'll get used to it when you locate the products. Other than that I would recommend this place for global food products. Also the customer service was on point they really helped me. read more

I just moved to the area a couple of months ago and this is the closest grocery store in the area. I purchased chili sauce on 11/10 and noticed it expired 11/24 of the same year. Luckily I had the receipt. I returned the next day and noticed all of sauces on the shelf had the expiration date but 2. A worker walked past me with Global jacket on an I stopped him to let him know I was returning the product and they should get someone to remove the rest from the shelf and he responded I should take it up with customer service and he didn't have anything to do with it. I shake my head and then walk to customer service to exchange. I stand there for about 5 minutes while I'm talking on the phone to my husband and I told him I was going to find someone to call customer service. Then, a young lady pops up from her chair and I asked her has she been there the entire time and she rudely says yes. I told her I needed to make an exchange and she asked for the receipt and exchanged the bottles in less than a minute. I likely won't return to this market unless I'm too lazy to drive further out. Later the same day: I am getting ready to open my large jar of jalapeños and I realize that they also expired in August 2023. Luckily, I still had the receipt, I am mediately returned the jalapeños and the stain lady was there. She was much nicer this time, and I heard her tell someone in Spanish that they needed to check the jalapeños. I will not be back. read more

It's a good place, the vegetables are fresh and the workers are very friendly but with the children and they treat people well

After I got over the initial very strong smell inside the grocery store, I realized that this neighborhood grocery store really is a gem. The store is in the spot vacated by Safeway. Everything you can possibly want in terms of grocery, seafood, baked goods, household items, and international foods---this place has it all! I even found Bruce Cost ginger sodas here, which I love. Produce is about 25-30% cheaper here than at nearby Safeway and tiny Trader Joe's down Route 29. There is a huge Indian aisle filled with spices, snacks, lentils, pickles, and other items. For these two reasons, and the fact that it is close to home, I will return. There is a $10.00 minimum for credit cards, and the cashier made an exception for my $9.75 purchase and did not force me to buy another item. read more

[Coronavirus review] This grocery store was open and well-stocked (though I will say they were out of whatever limited quantity of toilet paper they carried to begin with). They did not have contactless payment, and they are still charging the 5 cent Maryland bag tax (I stopped bringing my reusable bags out of concerns they would be carriers of disease). But overall, a workable shopping experience. Most, but not all shoppers were gloved and masked. Speaking more generally, the experience was similar to what I've had at other Global Foods locations. Yes, it's a bit sketchy-looking and -smelling compared to Whole Foods. But I always find great stuff here. For basic groceries, no reason to come here, but they are great for all sorts of things: diverse vegetables, hard-to-find cooking oils, fresh Chinese noodles, frozen Indian foods. This one has an entire Peruvian section for some reason. I always walk out with several things that weren't on my list but which looked cool. And you can definitely find some good deals. You have to think how you're going to use stuff, and you have to check expiration dates, but for me the haul is invariably worth it. read more

I usually trek to H-Mart for supplies since my husband loves Japanese and Chinese foods. However, my mom was visiting and wanted something very specifically Latin American. So I decided we would try Global Food to see if they had what she wanted. Unfortunately, they didn't have it (not surprising, not even MegaMarket had it). However, I was rather impressed by the diversity of options, particularly in the veggie, fish and, frozen section. (I didn't actually look at the meat - sorry). The prices were good compared to Safeway and Giant, particularly for some of the more "exotic" fruits and veggies. Honestly, I will probably come here for most of my international food needs from here on out. Also totally thrilled to see Halo-Halo and Ube ice creams from the Philippines in stock here too. They are pretty hard to find locally and super expensive when you do; but anything sub $10 for it is a good buy. Someone commented that it doesn't feel clean, but I disagree. The aisles are marked with directions during COVID. There is hand sanitizer and there are signs that Apple Pay is available if you want touch-free. There was no smell. None of the jars, bottles, or packages were expired or close to their dates. And the fruits and veggies were either ripe or just before being ripe. read more

I recall going in here their first week of opening and the prices were so appealing and low. Therefore, I decided to come again today for some more fruits. The convenice if having an international food market five minutes from your place is a plus. I usually go to the H-mart in Wheaton. When you enter the place you are cut off from just exiting out quickly. I took my usual fruits and walked around the corner into the seafood aisle. The prices were a little higher than I remembered but that did not bother me because it was an international market, prices are always high. There was no foul order and the employees were very helpful when I asked for help about an obvious item. The aisle were all organized by different country items. Such as India, Korea ans China. The breads were located at the end. I wanted to get some cooked food, but their restaurant was closed on Mondays it said. I got in line to pay and that is where I was confused. The prices that I thought were low in my mind was not what appeared at the register. My advice is to ask about the prices before you but to make sure that is the correct ones displayed in front of the food. Don't forget to get your free ice cream at the end when you are exiting. I will be returning for the restaurant, but not for the groceries because unfortunately those prices have scared me away. read more

Great, diverse grocery store! Wish it was in Annapolis!!! We went in for only ice but I got to see all the fabulous International foods! What really looked good was the noodle and rice bowl counter. A huge kitchen that had Bim-bim-bop. If I wasn't on this darn diet I would have ordered three of them!!! We were in and out in a hurry. The people who live near that store are fortunate. read more

If you live in the area, which is comparatively isolated from urban conveniences, this store is amazing for ethnic food. Literally the aisles are categorized by ethnicity as opposed to food types Korean, Indian, "Euro", African etc. I can't vouch for meats quality but I would give it an A for dry goods/bulk goods section. Also I found unusual items that are fairly hard to find like Panetone fruitcake! Great for stocking up on flavors, spices, cooking necessities. Also be ready for lines--WIC is accepted and most folx here are family shopping. No such thing as "express" you will be waiting so best to go for bulk and big shopping. read more

The quality, price and variety of jasmine and basmati rice especially is better here there than in other places I have shopped. This is a good place for specific items you can't find elsewhere. The horrible smell makes me shiver every time I think I have to go to this Global Food store. It smells like someone died soon as you walk in. Even though you try to hold your breath you start getting dizzy soon as you try to breath again. Their section of fresh produce is good selection. However, the smell of dead fish makes you wanna vomit. I feel like my whole body smells when I come out of that store. The Global super Market grocery store Briggs Chaney has the worst customer service ever that I have witnessed.The cashiers are very unprofessional.I had a situation where the cashier picked up dirt from the floor and noticed the gloves she had on was very dirty .I politely requested for the cashier to change her gloves but she refused with a rude tone telling me ' I will not and do you have a glove to give me ? .You can't ask me to change my gloves '. I am delighted that Global Food has taken over the space previously occupied by Safeway. The name says it all. As expected from a non-chain, the vegetables are fresh due to a shorter supply chain, and prices are generally lower than the biggies. And of course, there is a huge variety from all over the world. The meats also look fresh, and there are pre-sliced cuts for stir fry or KBBQ. And yes, the parts that Americans usually don't consider edible, such as chicken feet and various offal. The seafood area has an island for ready to cook items (conch, anyone?) as well as a counter where your choice of whole fish is prepped to order. And no smell! (maybe because the store just opened?) The dry goods selection is extensive, and well organized by not only region but country. I was able to locate all of the exotic flavors I use. Oh, and one classification is (ahem) Euro. There is a cafe area still under construction, and I'm looking forward to trying it. Yum, sushi a few steps from the seafood market. Access to the shopping center is a bit awkward due to the US 29 interchange with Briggs Cheney Road, Still, Global will be getting much of my business that would previously have gone to Super Best.. read more

If you have not been here yet then it is a must that you go as soon as possible! This place is amazing! It has every kind of food and international/non international items are here! Not only is it convenient but the prices are really good! Usually I have found that international items are overpriced but here they do not do that. Along with good prices, food, items, and quality...they serve samples of some type of international food/drinks in every corner so you are able to diversify your taste buds before making your purchase! So I asked an employee if he knew were the jar of cherries were, he seemed like he struggled with English, was confused and didn't know what cherries were. After walking to two aisles with this individual I told him not to worry about it and I will attempt to look around. 10 minutes later on the other side of the store this man comes walking towards me with two jars of cherries..one small and one large with the prices. Honestly, this is the type of customer experience that'll keep me coming back. So I guess you are wondering why I did not rate this place a 5? However, I did have a bad experience at checkout...one of my items rang up for $4.99 and it was in the aisle with a large label of $1.99. I told the cashier that it was on label for $1.99 and she said it was $4.99 so I asked the cashier if she could send somebody over to check this and a man in customer service went over and confirmed the entire section of those items were in fact labeled for $1.99, I asked if this could be honored, they stated no it was a mistake on their end. So I stated if it is a mistake it should still be honored. The man stated that the employee was leaving work and just placed the signs anywhere and had it in the incorrect spot. I feel like that is a very poor way to treat customers even after you have verified that your employees messed up due to lack of job responsibility, had proof of the price listed, and continued to say what you cant do for the customer. Overall great concept: good food, versatile items, international/national experience, diverse samples but the lack of customer service out of MOST employees such as the cashiers and those in the customer service counter ruined the experience. read more

Really great selection of global foods...and I do mean global. - Frozen Chinese bao, Mexican canned octopus, Indian sweets, buckets (literally) of kimchi. Even my Dominican brother-in-law's favorite breakfast salami. A few aisles of American dry and canned goods as well. The produce and fish looked fresh and the produce seemed inexpensive. i have been shopping at Global good store on outlet in Briggs Channey, today another customer and I went to ask the manager a question about something in the store, he got so angry at us and told us that we should not ask him any question. and said if we come there to shop, we should shop without asking any fucking question, I could not believe he was the manager and speaking to female customers like that, to make sure he was the manager I went to 2 of the cashiers and ask to speak to the manager they pointed him to me, while standing on the inside waiting for my pick up ride, he was on the compute, I saw a lady of his race came to him and ask him a question he smile with her and answer her so respectful, so what I got from him is that he's RACIST.95 percent of people that shop there are black so if they are racist against black people,we do not need to spend our money there. read more

Conveniently located at a shopping center, across from various car dealerships right off of Route 29 Briggs Chaney Rd. I had to check it out as I left the UPS store. This is brand new and replaced the old Safeway! Definitely lots of variety in international food which includes a hot foods eatery, various kitchen items/essentials, seafood selection, and best of all fresh produce at a bargain price! Clean and organized inside with lots of signs to easily find things. Will frequent this place and suggest others to check it out! read more

This place smells like death. Seriously. Stopped here after picking up my car from service nearby and I should have turned around based on the smell in the vestibule, but I stupidly forged ahead. I think this is the only time I've had to leave a store without purchasing anything because it smelled so bad inside I had to get out. It's possible they were selling (and by selling I mean putting in a blender and spraying the whole place with it) durian fruit that I didn't see, and that was a big cause of the smell..It also would not entirely surprise me if I saw a headline in Patch in the next few days that they had found a rotting corpse somewhere in this store. The most likely cause of the smell, however, and what it smelled most like to me, was improperly refrigerated meat. It smelled like really bad, old seafood times ten. Retch. read more

If you are a fan of ethnic cuisine, this is a great market to come to. It reminds me of the supermarkets and local shops I grew up next to back in Brooklyn, NYC. There's variety from Caribbean, Latino, Asian, and African food products. I've noticed a different audience that comes to the neighborhood now which is great for the local economy. There's always that one thing. The thing that makes you realize that yes, you do have to run to the store tonight, because you can't have breakfast or make lunch without that one specific ingredient. If you are like me, you have a mental map of your favorite store for those quick trips. You probably also never leave with just that one thing. Last night I needed some radish for lunch today. I had cucumbers. I had tomatoes. I had no radish, so off to Global Food I went. It took just a few moments to decide between the three or four types of radish, and then I spent an extra 30 minutes wandering the aisles. The aisles are separated geographically. Korean and Vietnamese goods share one. Indian and Pakistani items follow soon after. Euro foods, American staples (so much salad dressing!) and "Perubian" treats also have a place on these shelves. This is an international market, and so has just a few things to mark each culture. There is a produce section, and a hot food counter. There's even a hot foods counter and a small bakery in case you need snacks. What I appreciate most about this store is also what I find most aggravating. There is tea everywhere! Did you know that every culture has figured out that chamomile flowers steeped in water make an excellent bedtime tradition? You can find chamomile tea in at least 3, possibly 4 spaces in this store. I love seeing it all under one roof, but it can make it difficult when I'm shopping for one brand vs another. This store has a sampling of everything, so unless you know exactly where to find the specific box of tea you wanted you will spend time and money as you look. Last night I left with a daikon radish, a jar of Thai pickled whole red chili peppers, a container of Pakistani tea, and some European chocolate. All that and two bags of (US) chips! I only spent $6 for my culinary trip around the world, and my entire day was improved. I was sorry to see the Safeway close last year, and I wondered what might appear that would be a good fit for this diverse community. Global Foods is a perfect fit. read more

I love there produce prices, although I had a horrible experience with the meat. I purchased a flank stake to cook for my fiancée. When I started cooking the meat it looked and felt like rubber. The more I cooked it the more I realized it was not meat at all!!! It looked, felt and smelled like rubber. I quickly threw it away, drove to my nearest Safeway punched flank stake. Not even a comparison to what I had experienced with Global market meat. DO NOT PURCHASE GF MEAT!!!!!! read more

The seafood stand ignored me and didnt know how to cut a catfish. After the horrible service the worker demanded a tip.

Perhaps a great place for your international food items hence "Global Foods" but as far as MY traditional fruits and veggies are not so good. Lettuce, tomatoes, bananas, berries, asparagus, avocado, peppers and more are never fresh and always overpriced. Eggs, milk, coffee creamer are way overpriced it's ridiculous. It doesn't always smell like fish but when it does it makes it hard to purchase any produce because it's so overpowering even your bananas smell like fish. They also keep moving stuff around so when u think you finally got the place mapped out, something changes. Also, check your receipt because prices are always different. Cashiers, some are nice, some you can't get a smile from. Overall not the best place for my personal grocery list, but it could be great for all the variety of international selections, although still overpriced. 2 stars because one cashier talks to my toddler and makes her smile and they have good parking. read more

when this store open it was all good and very diverse in food, but after the vegetables, fruits and meat weren't fresh as they used to. I recommend that you check your meat because we have gotten bad meat before. I hate the fact that they added a divider of the entrance and exit where all the fruits are, it gets really annoying when you forget that its there, but its because to much people have been shoplifting this place, and they have been in the news do to a dangerous break in from the back where a teenager had a BB gun and shot one of the employees and damaged a car. Global Food (Food Court) At last! I found the best Jjamppong in Maryland! Every bite is filled with amazing flavors. Stir fried veggies, Rich broth, mouth watering Oysters, Crabs, and holy scallops. Glad they brought a grocery store in the area with such good variety! However, PLEASE stay away from the prepared food stand -- very unsanitary and unclean. The one guy with the long hair is extremely rude and prepares the food without a hair net or any regard that it is being prepared for human consumption. His assistant is very friendly though! Excited that we have a new grocery option in the area, but very dissatisfied and disappointed with the consistent mediocre service provided at the food stand the several times I visited. read more
