Today, while I was coming out from the Fremont Mega Mart with my husband, our cart suddenly got stuck in the street and completely flipped over. Not only did all the food spill, but my arms and legs were bruised badly. When I went into the supermarket and explained the situation to the staffs working there, they said that there were several people who had suffered such accidents and that road repair was being requested, but it had not been done yet. Seniors can get seriously hurt, so please at least install a warning sign in front of the supermarket... I'm really disappointed. The road may not look that bad in the picture, but be careful because your cart could get caught on a bump in the road and flip over completely. read more

Mega Mart - International Grocery Near Me - Fremont, California

I was really excited for Mega Mart to open because I thought this would be a good alternative to driving all the way to HMart for Korean groceries. Mega mart, however, is a lot smaller than I expected, with a very sparse selection of produce, frozen food, snacks, and meat. If you like Hmart's diversity of products, you will be disappointed to find that Mega mart only carries a limited amount of Korean products (you won't find any other Asian products like you would in HMart). read more

I wish I could give this market a better review, but it's not that great of a Korean market. In a pinch, sure if I need pantry items then it's ok. The prices are very high, their meat looks really old and grey, the fruit and veggies don't look fresh and their kimbap is pretty sad - the rice is very mushy. They don't carry many of the brands that I can find at Hankook and Super Kyopo so I still have to drive to Santa Clara to get what I need. I'd even go to Osaka Marketplace in Warm Springs for better meat without having to go to Santa Clara. I'm curious as to how long this place will last. read more

Another market to add to my "Why I Hate Looking For Korean Groceries in the Bay Area" list. I don't even like H-Mart (as many in this area seem to be labeling that chain as the standard, which is also sad within itself), but even H-Mart is marginally better with produce and inventory than this barren oasis of a store (given it has almost been a year since the grand opening, the really is no excuse from this point onward to not have something). This place only saved itself from a one-star review because it was acceptably clean, which is probably the only nice thing I can really say about it. As Koreans though, my mother and I didn't think a place of this size could actually do worse than Manna in terms of produce quality, so my disappointment is a tad more on the extreme end of the spectrum. I can't wait for my girl to move in with me in LA, because attempting to cook Korean dishes for her and her family with the lack of consistently good produce has been nothing short of abysmal. TL;DR: (1) Zion (2) Hannam/Super1 (3) Hankook Market (4) Manna (5) Sprouts (6) H-Mart (7) this sh*tcan. Never thought I'd actually ever miss a Sprouts lol read more

Has items but limited options . H mart has more options and their fresh food like Bimbap does not look fresh

Visited this place on 2 separate occasions. This is definitely no H-mart ! The selection of items available especially the banchan and cooked items are pretty limited ! Bakery is awesome though ! They could still be ramping up so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt ! I wouldn't recommend coming here especially if you have little children! Trolleys do not have the little seats in them so unless you don't mind carrying your kid while navigating your grocery shopping I say you might want to give this a miss ! read more

Soft opening today. Not fully stocked yet. Grand opening is on Friday, 9/23. It's your typical Asian grocery store. Looking forward to the fresh sushi and the bakery. Had some cute cream puffs out today. read more

Finally Korean big- scale supermarket in Fremont downtown! Nice selection of new products welcomes customers! Even though it's soft opening there are plenty of selections in bakery, deli, meat and even cosmetics! Love their healthy supplement sections like red ginseng drinks! Can't wait for grand opening. read more

Grand opening is today there's some lovely flowers out in the front to wish the store good luck. Many hundreds of people there. They have a wonderful selection of a variety of mushrooms that I have never seen before which is great. However some of the products are in Korean or Chinese or even Japanese untranslated so it's hard to know what the product is. Many fish many fish and meat products as well. They have a bakery section . I think they have to improve a bit on their vegetable section however I think because of today's ground opening many goods have been purchased. It's a store worth looking into thing into I wish The best of luck and Polish up any errors in stocking up any of the products read more

Love it but needed more fruits and vegetables. Cashier is very friendly. Market is very clean and organized. Will come back for kimchi since they have a wide variety of them. read more

Spent around $60 on food.. pretty big inside.. but I need to come back in the morning, not evening for the bakery to get dinner.

Big store but doesn't have everything. There's so much space and they using the same design as Sprouts. Wish they had more items like H Mart. I only got a few items and wish they had more meat selection and snacks. The meat didn't look that great as it was more brown and didn't look fresh. Parking sucks as it's tight and small spaces. Would only come if I need essential Korean items. read more

I wait over a week hoping there will be less of a crowd and the store will be better stocked only to find many empty shelves in the hot food and bakery area. The ones on the shelves do not look appetizing. The veggies and fruits section had very few items and very sad looking. The frozen meat and packaged products are robust and packaged rice and noodles sections are well stocked. Maybe things will get better but as it is I'm going to stick to the Chinese markets. read more

Love this market- has everything we need! But one note- wish the fruit was fresher quality. Other than that, great selection of food/items!

I would say this is a Korean supermarket and its priced higher than the Manna Oriental Market located at the corner of the plaza. Selections are getting better for the Basquia bakery that sells Korean bread, k corndogs, tarts, tiny cakes, cake rolls and other stuff. They carry Bibigo, CJ, Sempio and other popular Korean brands of food products. Tye snack aisle, ramen has more limited selection. What I like here is their cut-up fruit section priced lower like 1/3 mini watermelon at $1.10 based by weight. The whole mini watermelon is priced $6.99. So you have a choice. read more

Visited today Thursday around 1130am, The place is nice and clean as most Korean Grocery are. They do need to up the type of frozen food selections and the hot food selections a bit. I did have a hard time to think what I should buy. But I can understand that they just opened and they can't go too far. I think the price is okay. At least now I don't have to go all the way to the San Jose to get some Sushi Bowl. They are using the same bakery as K-Market in SJ. But the selection is obviously less than SJ for now. I am sure they will eventually adjust to the local shopping patterns and price acceptancy. What I didn't expect. they have Japan imported Wagyu at $59.99/lb. That's a nice surprise. They may want to run some special events/deals or special items on the weekends to attract more foot traffic. I don't think a lot of people know they are opened. read more

Love this korean store.. glad we are embracing more and more of the korean culture here in the bay area... being korean and having family always visiting from Korea it's absolutely lovely to take them here which is closer by us vs going to Santa Clara all the time. H mart is not really korean.. its americanized Korean ... Mega Mart is more mirrored to authentic korean like Hankook and Kyopo. HUGE PLUS IS THE KPOP music playing inside Woot!! read more

The place was rather small and was not stocked at all in the deli section. The bakery was mostly empty other than some pastries and Korean corn dogs. I tried the corn dogs and the batter was raw which really disappointed me since they are 4 bucks each. There are lots of price tags missing which made it confusing when trying to see how much something was. There was not a lot of variety when it came to every category because they tried to fit too much into the small space that the store is. Something that was nice was that the staff had good manners. The lady working at the bakery was very helpful when taking our order and was very polite. She made this otherwise relatively disappointing shopping experience much nicer. I think this place would be much better if it was fully stocked. read more

This review is strictly related to there deli food quality. They seem to lack the most basic food quality control. The first extremely bad experience was about a month ago with their pan fried/grilled sole fish. I opened the container and took one bite of the fish and I had to immediately spit it out. The fish must have been in really bad condition before they grilled it as the meat was all mushy and inedible. I took it back immediately and showed to a cashier and she took it to the back room for someone to see the condition of the fish and refunded my money. Today, we purchased 3 packages of chicken wings and all 3 packages were over baked/fried. The meat was so dry and hard. We will not be buying its deli food anymore. read more

great store. lots of bakery and other items to choose from. easy parking. cashier are quick to help and all registers are open. clean store

I wanted to make tempura shrimp rolls and was looking for shredded imitation crab meat. Since H Mart was too far from me, I decided to drop by this place to see what they had in stock. I showed up around 8:30am and the place wasn't busy. I walked through every aisle (except for 1 aisle because 2 employees were busy chatting in that aisle). I was able to grab a few items (Hotteok, taiyaki filled with sweet potato, etc.) that I couldn't find anywhere else, plus some fresh vegetables. The store was kept the same as the previous Sprouts that had occupied the place. The whole store was clean. Maybe I came too early because I didn't see any hot food selections. When I went to pay, the cashier was busy playing with his cell phone but he did put down his phone when he saw me. I'll definitely come back to purchase more vegetables, as the prices here are a lot cheaper than my local 99 Ranch. As for everything else, I would purchase those somewhere else since the prices here are a lot more expensive. read more

I really wanted to like this place because my favorite Korean market, Manna, closed down and we don't have an Asian market in central Fremont. Although the banchan and Korean items are decent and the produce is fresh, I do want to warn against the grab and go sushi. I love convenience but the fish there is very low quality for having a whole seafood deli. All of their sushi products and ALWAYS tastes like plastic and the fish is dry as if processed or old. Idk if it's the way they season their rice or handle their fish but I've tried to pick up different rolls and nigiri and it's always SO BAD. I would rather pickup sushi from Whole Foods or Raley's down the way. Also docking a star for laziness bc a big corp should have been able to upgrade the place so it didn't look like a Sprouts Market cosplaying as a MegaMart. Decent place for specific items in a pinch (that are 100% not sushi) but I always end up having to go to Ranch 99 in the farther parts of town. Added a star because the workers are ALWAYS very nice. read more

So much to look at the store is very clean and workers were constantly on the move stocking.

I was really excited when I found out a Korean maket would be opening in Fremont. I probably went the second week after its grand opening, and sadly can I say what a disappointment? I was hoping the store would offer a good selection on banchans and hot food, but honestly, the food area isn't very pleasing not to mention extremely limited in the banchan selection. The hot food wasn't that great either. Overall, not a place I would come to. read more

I was so happy that a Korean grocery was finally coming to Fremont. I made about three visits so far and am very displeased. I am not giving it a one star because they do have few sale items that are good deals. I agree with many other reviewers of the following: 1. Prices are very high compared to other Korean mkts in the South Bay or Asian groceries in the vicinity. 2. Korean vegetable selection is limited. 3. Fruit selection is limited. 4. Pre-made hot food item selection is limited. 5. Pre-made Korean side dish selection is limited. 6. Kimchi section is too small. 7. Pre-made sushi and gimbap quality is super low; lower than Safeway or Costco made. 8. Meat selection is limited. 9. No pre-made Jjajang sauce that all other Korean mkts have in the South Bay. Besides all of the above shortcomings, two of the three times I visited, they over charged me. I have a habit of checking my receipts before I get in my car and both of the times, instead of giving me the money back, they offer other items free, which were very good deals that I cannot refuse, but I cannot trust their accuracy. Beware and check your receipts before you leave. It only has been a overcharge of $2.00 at one time and $4.00 today, but they can add up and don't like the hassle of going back in and addressing the errors. I will still go back for emergency items or sale items. I will most likely still visit the South Bay for large Korean shopping needs. read more

I was thrilled to get a local Korean market in the area (replacing Sprouts) but I was quickly deflated. Shelves were empty (either they ran out or do not have enough ppl restocking). Maybe it was still too "new" but I felt like the vibe seems to want to be active but is weighed down by all the folks flooding in. Meats seem so-so. I feel like someone was trying to capitalize on lack of Korean supermarket in Fremont to drop one in, but do not feel the passion/energy. So, I will stick to the small local Korean grocery that we do have here, or otherwise simply continue driving to Sunnyvale... read more

While we lost Sprout Foods, we immensely gained (the Korean franchise-based) Mega Market. While Aldi Foods can be considered a European product store, Mega Market is an Asian product store. Having lived in Japan for 3 years (50+ years ago), Japanese/Korean foods and groceries in this area are needed and "wanted." A full-spread of all things ... with ~an appropriate cost price ~ ... and a great variety of meals, lunch boxes, sashimi/sushi, hot meals, bakery, fresh vegs, (and products of American beef, ground beef, pork, ...). All things edible and consumable here - fresh and healthy. Friendly and helpful customer, department, and cashier staff - and even the stocking staff. Well laid out store pattern. This is an excellent hidden city opportunity - for great food and products. Wandering all the aisles and looking at everything - full shelves, ... everything fresh, clean, NO out of date foods, gunk food, ... variety is immense ! Haters can spew and go elsewhere - we don't need you ! We appreciate this new store and its business in our community. read more

This is my second time(4 pm, 2/15/2023) to this supermarket, and I won't be back never and ever. I'd rather go to Hmart if I will go to a Korean supermarket. There are more options for food and better basic service. The price in here is fine and the selection of food is limited, but I also purchased over $50 in here every time. The cashier, named Heather, was so desultory to her job. The cashier is not a job to be paid by tips, but the basic manner is required. I asked her before she scanned the products," Can I have a bag?" I got no response from her. She replied to me until I finished the payment," do you want to put this into the bag?" I said yes. She showed me her poker face all the time, and it was fine. The point that made me angry was she horizontally settle my sliced cake( like a person laying on her right side), then the cake messed up in the box, but she did not care and did not exchange it for a new cake. Then, she vertically settled four of my marinated veggie into the bag(all open sides of the boxes faced the ground), but she did not care. I finally politely asked her if I could get a new sliced cake instead because she messed up it. She even did not look at me. She shook her left hand and said "yes(sth like that)". I was tired to talk to her because I knew she was unhappy with her job. She was enjoying her phone. Heather, if you are unhappy with your wage, you can talk to your manager. However, please be serious about your job. Ok?! read more

At first I was excited that a decent sized Korean market was opening. But this has happened multiple times where we find issues with their products. The kimchi we bought today was full of black spots, and this is actually the least severe photo. The dumplings we've bought here had straight up water inside them. Go to Manna Oriental Market instead, they're literally 2 minutes away. They're a lot smaller but at least you won't be encountering situations like these. read more
