I like going to Meet Fresh, it's always refreshing to order their drinks and also their Icy Grass Jelly combo. You can't go wrong. The Monterey Park location is probably the newest, as it's located underneath the Holiday Inn Hotel, facing the street. Whatever happened with Meet Fresh!?!?! Meet Fresh was once a name that makes me smile, and the name was once synonymous with "great tasting dessert" in my mind. And once again, this location in Monterey Park, CA (SoCal) was just plain awful. They were out out out of this and that. Out of taro balls, out of mango, out of pears, out of yellow pudding, etc. How does one run a dessert shop without its many ingredients!?!?! On top of that, albeit this location is bright and roomy - there is absolutely no service. You walk in, order from the kiosk, and pick up your own order. So first off this location dropped their franchise of Meet Fresh and is now been rebranded to Coffee27. Most of everything is still reusing Meet Fresh bowls and paper bowls/cups as they transition over on a lazy way. Ordered their signature Ice Grassy jelly named similar to how Meet Fresh had it. The grass jelly is still very good, with large colored mochi balls on it. The bottom ice is still nice and sweet but a bit different in texture than the Meet Fresh dark ice. All right other add ins like jelly and boba is missing. Still a great dessert and would still come here for it. Fruit shave ice has been completely phased out :( and the owner wants this to be more of a coffee place. I don't understand this as there are so many empty new coffee shops around and places like Twinkle Tea, Molly Tea, Cha Express, and 7 leaves already full this void and have much of us loyal to them already that there really isn't a room for another coffee shop... Service with Diana handling both ordering and making the orders was awesome and see her getting overwhelmed with just apologizing and trying to explain to transition to so many disappointed customers that ended up walking out is very discouraging. I do hope this place improves and does something different to draw people in but at the moment they will have a uphill battle. I'm the type that doesn't skip dessert. But I'm an old lady that needs to watch her blood sugar. So when I saw this beautiful Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice, I opted for 50% sugar It was so good! The sweetness of the milk in the shaved ice wasn't too sweet, which is just want I wanted. The mochi definitely had the QQ factor. They had a bouncy chew. The larger Q mochi consisted of a brown sugar mochi, which is basically boba, and a regular one. They were sweet, so it paired well with the less-sweet shaved ice. The mini Q mochi didn't taste like anything, so they were there purely for texture. There were also almond and caramel puddings. The almond pudding was reminiscent of haupia. And the caramel pudding was basically a flan. Though, it did have coffee notes. The melon jelly was a little sweet, and also brought a different chewy texture to the dessert along with the crunchy coconut flakes. And on top was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with caramel. This dessert was truly a feast for the eyes and stomach. Despite this dessert looking large, it was actually the medium size. It definitely could feed a party of 4, so it was plenty for a party of 2. We couldn't finish it. We were there late in the evening, and there were signs everywhere about the unavailability of the bubble waffles. The employees even taped a sign on their backs! We were there a second night, and even more dishes weren't available. So it seems it's better to get there earlier in the day, unless they're having inventory issues. This one is located in the front corner of the Hilton, which has underground parking (as well as some time-limited spots at ground level). This is next to a hotel by Atlantic Times Square. This is a huge space with bright lighting, and lots of seating with couches and large tables. There's 2 large ordering screens at the front but you can also order with the staff at the front counter. I did this since it was taking a while with people taking their time to decide. As a paying customer, I would like to know how much it cost. You can find out by either checking out and looking at the cost or go out of line and look at the front TV waiting for it to change to your item if it's on there. You need to make sure the boxes are not stacked once you get to the car so the cut out holes in the boxes allows the moisture to escape so the egg waffle doesn't get soggy.Personally I like the chocolate the best. I should've known something was up as when I was at home, I looked up at the Meet Fresh website and noticed that the Monterey Park location wasn't listed. Definitely large enough to be split with at least 4 people. I think this is one of the better shaved ices because when the ice melts down, it still tastes like a regular Thai tea vs a watered down dessert. It might be a little sweet to start for some. It doesn't have a dedicated parking lot, but does have a parking structure with some 30 minute spots. The inside is spacious with a good amount of tables. Today we met Jeremiah and Gloria who were really sweet and going out of their way on everything. Really superb experience. The kiosk was kind of janky and the freebie offer on Tuesday made the entrance area back up awkwardly for a while due the weirdly designed entry chokepoint. But once we got our seats it was very relaxing. I finally got to try the egg waffles since we came during daytime. Had the matcha deluxe and it was oh so good. Loved the harder red bean topping and the red beans in the batter. The waffle itself had wonderful crisp edges and a great denser mochi like chew. The ice cream surprisingly stayed pretty solid despite the heat from the fresh waffle. The mochi logs were jelly like and easy to eat and I feel the condensed milk was a little overkill. When you walk in, I was trying to see if someone could take my order at the counter. Two little kiosks with big screens at this hour, I cannot see the screen due to the glare. I was going to start nit picking about the tables. As I was enjoying my drink, the girl that was trying to hand an older guy a menu earlier is now wiping down the tables. I think this location need to empower their staff so they are more committed to each action so they will get the task done. Initiate conversation like other boba places and say welcome or hello when guests walk in. Ask guests if you could wipe the table for them instead of "I didn't want to bother them". I find this transition poorly executed and misleading. The Monterey Park Meet Fresh now calls itself "Coffee 27," but all major signs, menus, and cups still say Meet Fresh. Staff uniforms show the same logo covered with masking tape and handwritten "Coffee 27." A small "Coffee 27" banner hangs out front with no context. It looks like a possible collaboration or a café inside Meet Fresh, not a full rebrand. The confusion continues online. The location still appears active on the Meet Fresh app, accepting but never processing orders. In person, the cashier said they're no longer part of Meet Fresh, yet nothing about the store reflects that. I ordered a shaved ice that listed condensed milk and ice cream, but neither showed up. The mochi toppings also felt dense and dry instead of soft and chewy. The menu looks similar to Meet Fresh's, but the taste and quality are off. This setup misleads customers and harms Meet Fresh's brand credibility. The store should either complete the rebrand or remove all Meet Fresh branding. There are two underground levels and ground level parking. Minor Critiques about Interior Design: The entrance to all Meet Fresh locations are somewhat poorly designed from my experience. This location is a lot more cramped than other locations. The kiosks are placed at the front entrance with not much space to line up. The line is usually out the door or blocking the narrow walkway to the pick up counter. I think it would be a great addition to have blackout blinds/curtains for the seating along the front entrance during sunset (similar to Gram Cafe & Pancakes). It would also be nice to include a screen or speaker to display and announce which order number is ready for pick up. I lost cell phone service and wasn't able to receive texts when my order was ready. Every time I visit a Meet Fresh, I'm left shivering because they love to blast the air conditioner. I can understand why, but reminder to myself, bring a jacket while I eat their delicious shaved ice. My go-to order would be the Fluffy Wintermelon Tea with 1/2 sugar and Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice. This location makes the Wintermelon super sweet, so I went with 1/2 sugar the second time and it was perfect. Their almond pudding is my favorite. I wish they could serve those by itself. Service: This location seems understaffed (maybe due to the grand opening), but the staff were trying their best. I appreciate how they were genuinely apologetic for the long wait time. Prices here are not worth it! I have been coming since they opened and it just isn't it. The grass jelly combo was bitter 2/5 The shaved ice is a 5/5 when they do have all the fruits in! If they only have one fruit you'll still have to pay full price :-/ not cool. Service is 1/5 They have the little machine so make sure you are behind the 10 people waiting to use it! Place is super small! On a hot day they didn't have a/c just the huge swap cooler! Was not enjoyable. Parking lot is a nightmare. read more

I am so happy there is a new dessert spot in Monterey Park. We ordered the black sugar boba milky shaved ice, which already came with pudding and ice scream, but decided to add two extra scoop of ice cream and pudding. This was really decadent and luscious and perfect to share for two people. The boba was very chewy, pudding wasn't too sweet.
