I went to Meeples for the first time on Black Friday. Their Black Friday special was buy one game, get the 2nd at 50% off. What a gem of a store! Surprisingly it had a great selection of games, a cafe and a game room. I didn't know Meeples was that large. They even have a game library where you can check out a prospective game before you buy it. The man (I didn't get his name) was very helpful and friendly. I told him what I was looking for and he recommended quite a few games. I would definitely go back when I want to buy a card or board game. read more

I was only here to hang out with some of my friends for the night and played some table top games. Such a fantastic little store, as it has its own community of fun nerds. I really enjoy that as I used to be one of those nerds. The people here welcoming and the people who work here are extremely knowledgeable in their gaming queries too. All the board games are decently priced and their MTG groups are just a bunch of fun nerds as well. If only I didn't come with a full stomach, I would totally check out their candy and dessert section. My favorite board game cafe in Seattle!! This place is super cute. It's really cozy and they have tons of drinks and snacks. The coffees and drinks are delicious, and it's not too pricey to grab a few things off the menu and have a seat. The game selection is wide, with lots of fun options to choose from, and the hours are long as well! We saw families, groups of friends, and couples, a diverse crowd and busy, but not too full or loud! Just perfect. I'd go more often if it wasn't so far. I love Meeples Games! It is definitely the best game store in Seattle. The owners and all of the staff members are true board game geeks! They are passionate about the industry and they have actually played a lot of games, so they are super helpful and give awesome recommendations. Meeples has an extensive game lending library. You can pretty much borrow almost any game they sell and play it in the store. They have a cafe area with tables, so you can order food and drinks while you play. They have flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, salads, coffee, tea, beer, etc. I really like their ginger cookie! I've come here several times with my husband. It is an excellent place for date night or to hang out with your friends. The place is very easy to get to and they have a free (90 minute) parking lot. There is also free street parking in this area and there is a bus stop nearby. The games at Meeples are reasonably priced and they also have a sale section. They have a great selection of games on-site, but if they don't have something in stock, they can usually order it for you. Sometimes I can find games a little bit cheaper online, but I really enjoy supporting a local, small business like Meeples instead. Meeples also has a back room with tables which is called the Thunderdome. They regularly host Pokemon, Magic, and Dungeons and Dragons events there. I called ahead to check on availability and the cashier was nice enough to set it aside for me since there was only one copy left. I was in and out in a few minutes. This little gem is tucked away in the upstairs area of a building complex (follow the signs). It's one of the few game shops that actually sells used games! They have a decent selection of card and board games, miniatures, and a larger selection of Mtg (Magic the Gathering). The woman working the desk was super helpful and patient making game recommendations to my 5yr old. They have one open space (cafe table style) area for gaming and a separate tucked away game area that looked like it was for miniature wargames. Gah....I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this place. And part of me does and part of me doesn't. First off I'd asked for them to call me when they got a specific game back in stock and even held it for me for a week (unfortunately the person transposed my phone # at the end so someone else got the call..luckily for me I decided to call and see if they'd gotten one and and mine was behind the counter with my name on it. Yay) I went and got it and paid immediately. There was a really good selection of newer games both in stock and in the library. The place was super busy with it being a Saturday afternoon so no where to sit down and try anything out. Ok so here's why this lost a star and actually I'm on the fence over it even needing to lose two..but I'll leave it at 4 and try again another day. I spent $71 on one game that I'd ordered. While I'm standing in line to pay I notice that people are cutting in line so I said to the cashier where's the end of the line. He said where you're standing but these guys have been here longer than you. Really? I've been standing here for like 10 minutes still I wanted the game so I waited another 10 minutes and paid. While I was in said line my family found two more games and some jelly belly's I'd say total of another $80. By this time there's no line so we set our stuff down on the counter to pay. The cashier was on the phone with someone. Ok. No big deal. Five minutes later and I'm still standing there waiting while he's reading something to a person on the phone inquiring about a private party. Ok. Still no big deal. Five more minutes he's still on the phone. Why he couldn't just ring me up and let me pay at the same time is beyond me. I put my games back and jelly beans and started to leave. Then he put the person on hold and kind of irritatedly said if I needed to be helped right away he could help me. I mean. It was 10 minutes. (Did I mention I live an hour away so round trip two hours to come here) I'll for sure come back and try again another day before giving up. read more

I can't believe I've never written a review for this place! I loved coming in and playing games. They have a pretty extensive collection in their library to borrow for gameplay. The employees are knowledgeable and could give recommendations as well. They served beer, cider, and food so it was a great hangout spot. And then, COVID-19 hit. I really hope to be able to enjoy this place once again when things go back to normal. In the meantime, I did stop by to shop for escape room games. I bought one of the Exit games here in the past and had a lot of fun with it. An AWESOME gaming store! From board games, to Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and everything in between, Meeples boasts an astounding selection of games for all. Their staff is both incredibly personable and knowledgeable, and very ready to help and enthuse about the products they serve. Many game stores host quite the varied inventory, but few I've patroned can rival Meeples' atmosphere as a casual and comfortable gaming locale. The store has an intuitive and clean, yet creative layout, and beautifully balances function and aesthetic. Where most game stores place their events in the middle of an open floor, Meeples smartly offers separate areas for their events and sit-in cafe on opposite sides of the store, ensuring minimal noise crossover between their varied patrons. Speaking of events, Meeples caters to an active community and hosts at least one event on a regular schedule each night of the week. Mindful of that community, their events are as varied as the taste of their customer base. Patrons can also find multiple community corkboards offering geek-specific services and LFG requests; additionally, an employee mentioned to me that they have a Discord server. Their cafe serves a diverse variety of drinks (alcohol and otherwise), and the cafe's menu offers a moderate, but assorted array of items, from snacks to small meals, as well as a spectrum of desserts. The ingredients are quality and the meal I had (a personal Margherita pizza) was quite tasty. The kitchen is also extremely accommodating and flexible with food allergens--when I inquired whether or not a specific tea contained one of my allergens, the employee, who wasn't certain, was very happy to hunt down the ingredients list to ensure it was safe for me to have. Vegetarians will also be pleased to know they have many options available to them as well. I was also astonished by the library that is their playable-in-store games; an entire wall of board games available for rent ensures no amount of time at this venue will be a bore. The store also offers some beautifully painted figurines for use in their customers' in-store tabletop games, and where some game stores handle such loan-items with a mountain of red-tape and suspicion, the friendly and open nature of Meeples' employees convey trust in their community with such items, which was such a pleasure to experience. I will say that I noticed some of the store's items were a slight touch pricier than I've seen in other gaming places, but it's not by much, and I'm honestly very happy to support the family-owned store considering how enjoyable it is, for both the lone gamer and the community as a whole. It's also worth mentioning that this locale is on the second story of a commercial building, and while it's possible there might be accessibility options I did not see beyond the stairs I used, it might be worth calling the store to ask if you do have accessibility concerns. Whether you're looking to browse a diverse selection of D&D minis, are searching for a new paintbrush for your model, crave Magic the Gathering competition, or just want a cozy place to enjoy a cup of tea, I highly recommend Meeples for your next gaming experience. However, my friends and I came in to take advantage of their amazing board game library that you can borrow from to play in the store. The only expectation is that you patronize their cafe, which is perfectly acceptable since their cafe serves draft beer, coffee, tea, and sandwiches at very reasonable prices! We stayed here for a good few hours, slowly sipping beers while playing Pandemic and Ticket to Ride. Tables are large (aka perfect for board games), and there's ample seating for small groups. We were not at all pressured to purchase the games at the end of our stay, which I appreciated. Overall, it made for a really fun, chill Sunday afternoon. I've been curious about this place since they opened in May. We decided to head over and check out the space for possible RPG purposes. When we entered the store, we were greeted immediately by the employee on the register. Meeples is well-lit and easily laid out. Games were arranged well and their lending library was kept behind the register. After looking around for a bit, spoke at length with Jeff, the employee manning the register and floor. While we spoke, he answered all of our questions with ease and would check on other people in the store. The space is bisected by the store proper with gaming areas on both sides. On one side, there's the Mana Café with casual game space for 30. On the other side, The Thunderdome provides a more competitive play / tournament area and seats 36. Tables could be reserved for organised play events or in advance via email, otherwise they were open-play. And if you need it, they have lockers for your stuff while you are playing. We had dinner earlier so I didn't get to try any of the café offerings. Their drinks included espresso and coffee drinks (True North), a selection of teas (Tao of Tea), rotating local brews (beer and cider) on tap, sodas, with local pastries and snacks. If you were hungrier, the menu offered a good selection of items (snacks, salads, and sandwiches) that seemed appealing. There are also larger shared plates with meats, cheeses, and fruits. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan-friendly too! Connor was super-friendly also, and he came out a couple times to wipe down tables and straighten the chairs. The entire space was very clean overall with ample lighting and no pressure to vacate the tables. Street parking available and a free private lot with a 90-minute time limit. The store is ADA accessible with an elevator that reaches the second floor. I would return here to play some games and have a snack, most definitely! read more

Meeples is epic! If you are into games, gaming, gamers, playing games, or anything else remotely related to games, this is the place. Located on the second floor of a nondescript building off California Ave SW, it has a large selection of tabletop games, plus a lot of other types such as Stars Wars Miniatures, etc. There's lots of space to actually play games, there, too. Lots of tournaments, lessons, etc. Really a fun place. The small restaurant towards the back has a number of tables where you can play while having a meal and a drink. Yes, they have beer! Cans, and a few on tap. Coffee drinks, the works. The food menu is pretty good. Hits the spot while playing games. Behind the register at the front, there are lots of games that you can borrow (no charge) to test out before you buy, or just play for fun. During my four-day stay at Seattle, I managed to go to two different board game cafes four times. Half of the time I was at Meeples Games. The store sits atop another business in its own little corner of California Ave. Keep an eye out for the lil' meeple sign! The inside is everything an avid board gamer can imagine! A buttload of games all categorized for example adventure, scifi, Euro, and even planes or trains! Such organization *insert heart eyes emoji here* People are able to come in and demo games from their library! I really love this concept and it has given the boy and I a chance to test out future games we might want to add to our collection. In addition to board games, Meeples has an attached cafe that offers food and drink items like coffee and charcuterie/cheese plates. How sophisticated! If you're in the middle of a game, the workers even bring what you ordered to your table so you don't miss out on anything. What more do you need to reel in customers? Nothing really! I come here for board game nights and the community is great! There's a bunch of tables, most of the time everyone is playing different games and people are super welcoming. They have a good selection of board games... Not so much party games, but every other kind. They also have sandwiches, a beer and a cider on tap, and a decent selection of teas. Not sure how they stay in business since most of the time people are gaming, not actually buying the games. Came in tonight with my BFF for the first time. Meeples is fantastic! Located on the second story of the business complex with the entrance in back, where the parking lot is, Meeples has a wide variety of games to choose from. I'm not a gaming nerd by any means, but I enjoy a board game occasionally. This was my first time going to a store to play a board game, and as we looked around, there were some games I recognized like Monopoly, Ticket To Ride, Catan and D&D with many, many more I had never heard of. They also have many of the cards available for card role playing games such as Magic. They also had a rack of figures and game pieces to take home and be painted. They have a good assortment of games from the classic to brand new, from fast paced card games to multiple hour strategy and RP games to borrow and play for free in their gaming room. The guy that went over what games we could play in the short time we had left while they were open was really sweet and took great patience explaining some of the new games to us. There is also a cafe that has a variety of snacks, small bites, salads, sandwiches and sweets like Rice Krispy treats and cookies. They also have beer on tap, wine, and the usual coffee, soda, and other non-alcoholic beverages. I was thrilled with the free lemon water! You bus your own table, which seems appropriate in this type of store. We have planned on coming back when it's not so close to closing time to play a longer game. read more

This place is seriously great. I met a friend here to peruse games and grab a pint. (Which is super neat in a game store.) We had some time, and asked the guy at the front counter for a suggestion for a two-player game. He suggested Splendor, and it was really the most fun I've had with a two-player game ever. We played three games of it, and would have continued had we not had places to be. I purchased a copy before leaving. The cider they have on tap is pretty good. It's the most middle of the road cider I've had to date, and was very drinkable. Their game selection is pretty large. They have a wide variety of things. It's all very well organized and presented. We hosted our company holiday party here for 16 people and it was a huge success! Laura was very responsive and accommodating in getting everything set up. She reserved the "Thunderdome" tournament space for us which was spacious yet intimate, the perfect setting for a group event. The food package Laura recommended was great and the perfect amount of food. Everyone loved the impossible burgers and the selection of alcohol was variety and unique. Alcoholic root beer, yes please! We opted for a "game facilitator" which I would HIGHLY recommend, Garrett was great! It saved everyone so much time having someone explain the games and answer any questions. Garrett was extremely knowledgeable and supplied a great variety of games. He was also very flexible with our needs, he even took food and drink orders so we didn't have to get up and disrupt our games! Why is it on the menu? The variance in the greens seems to be only one type of green. Apples were fairly decent. Sauce okay. A great local place to play board games! When you enter, you are immediately greeted by a friendly staff member ready to recommend you a game from their library. They have lots of games to try and it's a great way to spend an evening. You can borrow a game for free, but to sit at their tables, you need to buy something to drink or eat. Beers on tap cost about $6 and the food menu is pretty much simple finger foods like sandwiches, hummus, dips, etc. We found street parking, but they do have a parking lot with a 90 minute time limit. read more

We found this gem through a MeetUp for Friday Night Magic, and we're not disappointed. It was a little bit of a commute, but we got there through public transportation fine. This full service game shop covered all of the basis with a cafe style area where tabletop games could be played while eating some comfort food and having a beer. They seemed up to date on a lot of the trending games, and the staff was energetic and super helpful. The Games- I love that you can check out board games; I went with friends who had played the Firefly board game and had a blast (of course it is awesome, just like the show which should have NEVER been cancelled). While we came with a specific game in mind, their game library is HUGE. I am pretty sure you could go to Meeples every day for a month and not get bored with their game selection. The tables were large and game friendly. Additionally, there were tons of games for purchase, and it's great to purchase games from a local business rather than a conglomo like Target. The Food/Beverage- I really expected to pay higher prices than I did for convenience factor, but Meeples, beings super awesome, has a very square deal on their food and drink. I rocked some hard cider on tap that came at a great price. They also have a wonderful selection of food at equally great prices- everything from sandwiches, to cookies, to peanuts. Also, I went on a Friday night, and I know it would have been difficult to find anything priced better in West Seattle. I'm approaching my 1 year anniversary since my discovery (re-discovery) of boardgames and owe it to Meeples for getting me into the world of gaming! This venue takes up a good floor space with separate tables for gaming, some reserved for specific nights and many for open gaming. Borrow from their library or bring your own, they also have quite a good menu if you're into sandwiches, cheese boards, beer, and teas. The lighting is kind of bright for my taste but it's a great environment for groups and they play late into the night. One cool night we interrupted gaming to gather on the balcony outside to watch the International Space Station fly by, it was a Big Bang moment for sure. read more
