We went on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy so we put our name down and they said we would receive a text when our table was ready. It was also during the fires so outside seating was not available. I appreciated the waitlist text feature so we could walk around Mississippi while we waited. The service was quick and the food was yummy! Their menu is huge and it was hard to decide but I definitely want to come back to try their wide variety of soups
Great portions and pricing. Lots of authentic Thai dishes offerings. Super friendly and polite staff. I ordered the khao soi gai and thai iced tea with grass jelly. I wanted to order something different and I loved there were pictures for every dish on the menu. We are a visual eater! It was actually my second time trying this dish, but first time at this spot. The curry itself was flavorful but I added more spice to my liking. There was a huge chicken leg in my bowl. I liked the egg noodles. My cousin and her husband ordered the ba mhee haeng puuu & mhoo dang (dry) and curry puff. They enjoyed the curry puff! We would have preferred if there was a side broth for the ba mhee haeng puuu. Overall, a nice filling meal! I would come back for the glass noodles dish!
Amazing authentic thai food. On the top of my list for Thai food, I went with a group of friends and tried a variety of their dishes. Everything was very flavorful and well done, plenty of options for everyone. My favorite was the fried fish and their table side toppings/sauces were a great addition. Love seeing places that have the Thai chilies in fish sauce--which packed a punch! Service was attentive and friendly, but not overbearing.
With so much thai food options in Portland, it's hard to rank places but I'd say it's in my top 5 Thai since they've got some other offerings besides your classic Thai menu. - Spicy Basil chicken wings: not much spice or basil and a bit of unpleasant meat flavor, subpar I'd say. - Boat noodle soup: good cuts of brisket/tendon & meatball but the broth was too sweet and too much of some spice (maybe coriander or anise). - Creamy Tom Yum w/ pork belly: was my favorite. The pork belly was more like Chinese bbq pork slices if you know what I mean but still quite good. They also have some nice table side condiments to spice up your dishes like pickled peppers and chili oil. The inside is really cool too w/ deco made out of like old munitions crates and street signs and they have some upstairs seating too. In the summer they can open the front of the restaurant and it's open air.
Skip Eem for this unpretentious and absolutely delicious food. Some of the best thom kha soup I've ever had. All of their food is amazing! The prices are completely reasonable and the value is very high. The owner/server/bartender is super duper sweet! Our food came out really fast too. It's a really cute little Portland gem. It's rustic inside with board walls and cute little benches. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Spring into summer with supper at Mee Sen courtyard is PDX pleasure. The ambience inside is also quirky unique, definitely a lot to look at for a Thai spot. Good tasteful sauces on their entrees at better than most price point. Service is normally friendly and smiley, but at peak times you might find a lone server trying to hustle between all the tables. With all the Thai restaurants around, this is one of the more popular spots for overall ambience & food flavors.
It has been a while since I've eaten at Mee Sen, and I thought my dining experience was mid. The thai ice tea with grass jelly ($7) was delicious, but I was disappointed because the grass jelly lacked flavor. In fact, the grass jelly was bland, simply like flavorless jello. The pad kee mao was a bit salty from my perspective and needed extra spice, but they provide different options for hot sauce. The sauce for the larb jae was a bit too sour for me. Otherwise, the food came out quickly even when we submitted to-go orders. And, I like the decorations inside the restaurant. I would definitely come back to try more of their appetizers and cocktails.
i really loved this place the last time i came but i was pretty disappointed this time. we came at noon so we were the first people inside. our food came out super quickly -- way faster than i anticipated. this sounds like a good thing, but i think there could've been more attention to detail because some of the food didn't live up to my expectations. the khao soi was amazing just like last time. the meat was sooo tender and fell right off the bone. the broth was just right and i loved the texture of the noodle. the next dish was guay tiew tom kha which was good except the noodles were all very short. i think they were undercooked because they just fell apart :( the pad see ew was a bit more on the bland side and pretty pale in color. the crab fried rice had no flavor in comparison to the noodle dishes. i really loved this place so i'm sad that some of the dishes fell flat. please fix this!! would love to come back when they improve

The food was great. I had the tofu Phad woon Sen and really enjoyed it. Service was excellent. Super friendly staff. We'll definitely come back to this place.
Met up with a couple of friends for Saturday dinner at Mee Sen Thai Eatery. It's next door to Stem Wine Bar. Entrees are $14.00 to $21.00 USD. - Tamarind margarita ($13.00 USD) - decent - Curry puff ($10.00 USD) - three small puffs - Peek gai tod ($15.00 USD for 10) - good sized chicken wings. Opted for the spicy basil sauce - Somtum puu ($15.00 USD) - good portion. Green papaya salad was light and refreshing - Guay tiew tom kha ($16.00 USD) - coconut soup was serviceable. Ground pork was tasty - Panang moo ($15.00 USD) - curry was solid. Good portion of pork, comes with a bowl of rice - Mhee krob rad nah ($15.00 USD) - same sweet gravy sauce that you get at Chinese restaurants. My least favourite dish of the night Mee Sen's another solid Thai eatery.
When there is so many great Thai restaurants in Portland it is sometimes hard to stand out. Mee Sen overcomes that. Every dish we ordered was amazing and the flavors were perfect! Some things were very spicy (which we like.) Here's a breakdown of what we ordered: - Chicken Wings (great fishy sauce) - Mhoo Satay (we wanted Mhoo Ping but they sold out. Still great and liked the peanut sauce) - Yum Woo Sen (one of my FAVORITE things, spicy but loved the flavor) - Khao Gai (not a fan of the bone in chicken but broth was great) - Hat Yai (great crisp) - Moo Dang Moo Krob (preferred the spicy pork to the pork loin) - Lychitini (yummy drink) Overall really impressed and we'd be back!

In fact, the appetizers were so great, we forgot to make a photo. Then came our entries: Gai Manow and Moho Dang Moo Krob. Beautiful presentations and so good. This is a lovely Thai spot off of Mississippi, with both indoor and out door seating. We went on a Wednesday and it was already fully packed inside, so I can imagine it gets pretty busy on the weekends. They only had 2 servers working the front, so they were sort of bouncing all around. That being said I wouldn't say the service was bad, they were still attentive and it wasn't like we had to wait very long for anything. Food wise i have no critiques, from the taste and flavor, portion size, or even pricing. My wife and I split the curry puffs. I haven't had one in years, but having grown up in south-east Asia I had them all the time, and these felt really authentic. Pastry was crispy and fluffy. The sweetness might throw some people off initially, but it is exactly as i remember them. I had the guay tiew tom kha, which was fantastic. The broth was creamy and flavorful, the meat was tender, and the portion was just right. I could've had it a little spicier, but they do give you a selection of condiments like bird-eye chili, dried chili flakes, and chili oil. Its a little far from us, but we'll definitely be back if we're in the area. read more
if you're ever in the search of some good noodles, thai street food or comfort food, look no further. this place does it right and it hits the spot every time. the indoor decor and food truly transports me back to thailand! this was the place we chose to go to when my friend from bangkok was visiting, and we left very satisfied. they have an ample amount of selections to pick from, whether it be noodle soups or stir fry's. they really accommodate to dietary preferences, and make all their food free of msg. everything is very flavorful, made with love, and reflects the authenticity of the food you would find in thailand (from pretty much all of the provinces; central, north, and south). they offer different spice levels like most places (mild/medium/hot), but the side condiments that are offered when you dine in are a plus so that customers can alter it to their liking. with thai spices being a bit more intense, i would recommend choosing a lower spice level just in case and then adding on if needed. regardless, majority of the food comes out superb as they are -- so its just a matter of preference. n mississippi street is a great place to walk around, so i would highly recommend stopping by whenever you pass through! they have nice outdoor seating patio area when the weather is nice, which is also dog friendly. read more

If you like of boat noodles, do yourself a favor and go here! They have some of the best authentic boat noodles in PDX - rich, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, beef tender af and all the savory goodness you're craving! Every time I go, that's what I order. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating here and service is very quick. This spot is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Thai comfort food. read more

So cute inside. Really loved the vibe. The cocktails were tasty. Well balanced. Loved my food too. Thom ka was delicious! Yellow curry was creamy and had body. Didn't like the chicken backs in my curry with wet skin but hay ...... It was friendly service. I'll be back to try more. read more
I came here for dinner with my friends one night and had a great time. Parking was a bit difficult to find here as the street is very tight, so we all had to drive around for a bit and eventually found a spot in the neighborhoods. If you're coming here with friends, I highly recommend to carpool if you can! The inside of the place is very cute and there's upstairs and downstairs dining. I was tempted to go here after hearing that they offer many Thai dishes (such as street foods) that you don't typically see at restaurants in Portland. My friends and I ordered the classics: pad thai, pad see ew, curry, and larb, but we also tried the hoy tod, a Thai pancake with mussels and scallion. Everything was phenomenal. Portions were pretty good and the food came out fast. I loved the hoy tod, especially. I would love to come back and try some of their other dishes! Service was also very kind. read more

We could hear the microwave heating it up when we orders it to go along with the chicken wings. It came out really nice and hot, BUT, it quickly got dry & hard. So glad to have made it into this cute little restaurant right before closing! This place also had a decent sized patio out front but we decided to have a quick bite dining indoors. The food came to us literally within minutes of ordering, perfect for hungry selves. Each dish was piping hot, flavourful and was a nice balance between meat & veg. The restaurant is small but it gives off an authentic feel through the decor and set up. I enjoyed their food, most notable was the pad see ew (10/10) and the Thai Tea was the perfect amount of sweet. The service was great, our server checked in on us throughout. Omg eat here! I haven't had Beef Boat Noodle Soup this good since a Thailand. Hubby loved the Panang Curry. Mos, our server, aside from solving my Rubin's cube, was attentive and sweet. This neighborhood is also super cute. We will be back! read more
This is one of my favorite Thai places in all of the U.S. The flavors are so authentic. We ordered: *moo ping - grilled pork *tom yum moo - pork tom yum *tom yum nam khon- creamy tom yum *cha yen - thai tea *nom yen - thai pink milk The tom yums were umami with hints of sweetness, sourness, and spicyness. Just like in Thailand. The thai tea tasted so authentic. And I was surprised that they had nom yen! If you've never had it, it's milk with sala fruit syrup - sweet and has a slight fruity/bubble gum flavor. The staff were super nice. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The decor reminded me of Thailand :) From the seats to the sauce jars to the plates and the water cups. Highly recommend!!! read more

The staffs were very friendly and our waitress served us at a timely manner :) I ordered the shrimp salad roll as my appetizer, and the Yum Won sen noodles with seafood for my dinner entree. The peanut sauce was good! The fillings in the salad rolls were less when compared to the ones I would get from other Thai restaurants at $10, but it was still tastyyy. My noodles were bland, it lacked flavor and adding hot sauce wasn't enough to bring the flavor together. We ordered the Khao soi (medium spice) and the chicken was good, but overall, the dish lacked flavor. All in all, it was a good experience and will definitely give this place another try! read more

The service and ambience was great! Such kind and friendly people with a nice vibe when you step inside the restaurant. The food was pretty good although I would say it lacked a little bit of flavor compared to the Thai food I am used to eating. We tried this place on a sunny Saturday afternoon for lunch. It's a little easier to get reservations and the staff is very friendly and courteous. Food: We wouldn't revisit this place because of the food, we didn't like the food at all. It wasn't traditional thai food, it was influenced thai with some other flavors which we couldn't recognize. We were a big group and ordered couple of things, all the soups were really watery texture and the tom yum soup was felt like straight out of a ketchup bottle. The soups weren't thick and the remaining items like pad see ew, pad kee mao, kua gai everything was average. Portland has some really good thai places and this is definitely not there. Except for the salad rolls, everything was mediocre. Another thing what we observed was a little extra sweetness to everything but all of us felt it, maybe we aren't used to extra sweetness in food except for dessert, but that was our observation. Ambience of this place is pretty and in a nice spot. read more

Highly recommend trying something new each time you stop by because everything on the menu is delicious, but don't forget to try the staples like salad rolls and pad see ew.
