We came here for lunch while spending a weekend in Cambria after watching a protest rally as the restaurant was across the street.. it's a small what appears to be a family owned restaurant. We all thought the food was good although it took longer than expected and one of the 4 dishes had to be remade as it didn't have everything as ordered. It's always nice to find a never heard of restaurant and support what feels like family owned.

Steak Quesidillia. Fresh ingredients and shell toasted just right. Daughter picky eater but this was a hit.

Enchiladas (beef & cheese) were quite good but small. Nice red sauce, refried beans and rice too. Salsa Ranchero and chips were free and excellent. Waiter was very gracious. One big issue was no itemized bill. We simply got a check for just over $38. I don't know how much I was charged for anything. He forgot my side of guacamole. Was I charged for that? I put down an AMEX and got back my signature copy which was now over $39. Was that for the cost of using a credit card? The tip options were calculated for you and started with only a 10% option, but was based on the total bill including state tax. That shouldn't be the case. Your tip is generally based on the pretax amount. . Still, nice the tax didn't begin with the 18% option and go up to 25% like a lot of Bay Area restaurants. I'd go again but ask for an itemized bill next time.

Came here on vacation, and although there aren't a lot of places to eat, this is definitely one i'll be back to! Everything I ate had great flavor, and it was good portions for the price of everything. The inside, although small, is very homey, which I always find comforting when going to a new restaurant. My server was also very accommodating and made sure to not hover but also was able to make sure we were taken care of. Next time I'm in town I'll make sure to stop by!

This is the one!! Soon as I walked in and saw the yucateco hot sauces on the table and Mexican decor, I knew it would hit! They've got a lot of plate combo options to choose from. I got the chile relleno with the chicken tamale. Pro tip, ask for diced asada on top of the chile relleno. You can thank me later! The asada was a perfect topping as it was nice and crispy. It compliments the chile relleno very well. My friends got jelly and ordered some on the side for their plates as well aha ha. I generally gauge Mexican restaurants by their beans and rice, because if the basics are off, then I assume the rest to be the same. Not here! I can't stress enough how great the food is here. The ambiance is reminiscent of those hole in the wall places that are hidden treasures. Just know that you've came to the right place for Mexican food in town. To top it all off, it was inexpensive for the amount of food we got. The server is very kind and tends to you in a timely manner and frequently to make sure you have all that you need. I just wish this place was near my work so I can visit every day to try the rest of their menu. Thanks you chef at Medusa for the best Mexican meal I've had in a long time!

Medusa's definitely has potential and like most restaurants near the coast - they have lunch specials at a great deal. Had some taquitos with rice and beans. It'll meet your Mexican food cravings. Simple food.

Best authentic Mexican food! The salsa, red and green are homemade! You can taste each individual flavor. The food does not disappoint. We spent four days in Cambria. Came here everyday! Breakfast was amazing as well as a late lunch. Whoever said the ambiance wasn't great is brain dead, and has never traveled to Mexico and had REAL authentic Mexican food. This place is amazing and the people are amazing! A real treat not to be missed!!! read more

As other yelpers indicated, we were greeted with a bowl of chips and salsa. Salsa was homemade - excellent, I basically slurped the second bowl down 'cuz I didn't want it to go to waste! I ordered a carne asada plate - a bit too fatty and not enough salt, but it can't be that bad, I licked the plate clean! My husband got the grilled fish taco plate and he too left nothing on his plate! The waiter was very attentive; I'll even overlook the waitress that was loudly on a phone call because everything else was great. We're definitely going here again to get a homemade Mexican fix! read more

Good, weird taco shop in Cambria. I live in Cayucos and havent found Boni's Taco Truck the last couple trips up. But Medusas is good. Weird, but not as weird as Chilie Peppers on Broad Ave in SLO. That place is weird. Weird but good. And so is Medusas. It's hard to know what they specialize in since the the counter is laid out the way it is.... Order the Pastor. and go light on rice.... and extra cheese, guac, crema fresca and and cilantro.. Good burrito. And a side of chips and 'mild' salsa. I was raised on hot, but here, it's a little obnoxious. read more

You have to give a Mexican food restaurant some props for having a maneki-neko (Japanese good luck cat) on display. That's unique in and of itself. The food was average for slightly above average prices. Free chips and salsa (and refills). Wait staff friendly. Street parking or parking on the roof of the building. Why would you name your restaurant after a Gorgon from Greek mythology? read more

Great food! We had the Chicken Fajita and Carnita Tacos and loved the family style cooking, simple but delicious, different than what we typically see in Mexican places. Ok Mexican food for such a small town. I hate to hold it up to the standards of the LA/Orange County area, but being from down south I stretch to give them a 3. Good service, small little place and decent prices. I had the fajitas which were a C in my book and my wife had a relatively non-descript combo platter. For a small town with fewer choices in this category and price range they are an ok choice. read more

I read the reviews on yelp and decided to give this place a try. LOVED it! I had the best chicken tostada I have had in a long time! Everything tasted fresh especially the cilantro! The chips and salsa were also a plus! Definitely will go back next time I am in town ;) read more

my excellent rock star wife's cheese enchiladas and my carne asada were very good today. our quesadilla was okay. the gentleman serving the tourist customers was truly friendly and very attentive. our meal was para llevar. staff provided utensils, napkins, and a generous supply of salsa. the manager treated me well. read more

Glad we found this place - on Yelp! Great little spot, with great food and Mexican beers. Had carnitas and chicken tacos - tasty and portion was just right. My husband and daughter both had burritos. His was previously referred to as a "bigass" burrito on another review and it was. But just big enough for man-sized appetite. Chips were fresh and crisp and the salsa was pretty good. Go early and no wait. Place is tiny and reminds me of the little taco places down in Baja - way back when. read more

The food was good and great ambiance. We went on a Thursday night and enjoyed some light live music while we enjoyed our dinner. Service was great our waitress was really nice and friendly with my daughter. I would not suggest the mojito though it tasted like pure margarita mix. Would definitely go again. read more

Nice authentic Mexican. We shared the taco plate for a late lunch and it was excellent. Wish I had more appetite to really enjoy more of their food. Their salsa served with chips was also very good. Highly recommend them if you enjoy "real" Mexican food. read more

The food is really good, and so are the prices, but our favorite thing about this restaurant is the family that owns it and works there. They are the KINDEST, friendliest people who know just about everyone who walks through the door, and will do just about anything to make your meal a great one. Plus, the father makes my favorite ranchero salsa and the mother makes my husband's fave, the super spicy chili de arbol. From scratch, every day. read more

Medusa was a diamond in the rough! It's located in a business center, which isn't where great dining experiences usually occur. We were driving home the coast and craving good Mexican food. Our expectations were far surpassed! Their guacamole was second-to-none to be found in a restaurant. It was just right--not too oniony, not fluffed up with sour cream--just fresh, ripe avocados and the fixin's! The family-owners made the food fresh, and it was noticeable. We look forward to eating there again on our next trip down the coast. read more

I was expecting diner coffee, but it was not good for even diner coffee. I don't think I would be back nor would I recommend this place as a breakfast option while in Cambria.

After visiting Hearst Castle and then staying the night nearby, we stopped here for breakfast on the way up the coast.Being from Texas, we know good authentic Mexican breakfast food. YUMMWe both had Huevos Rancheros and it was good stuff. Cooked just right, the eggs were neither too hard nor too runny. The Salsa was nice and rich, but not too spicey. As local resident of over 24 year I can tell you that Medusa's has the best Mexican Food in town. The owner, Baltazar, is personable and he grills some really good food. Carne Asada burrito is one of my favorites, but the taquitos, tamales, and guacamole dip are all good. Tell Baltazar that Doctor Pimienta referred you and he will treat you exceptionally well. $18 burrito and they gave me day old stale chips. I usually love this place, but that was a bad move. The chips were gross, very stale and inedible. read more
