This place is amazing. A legit Mexican food restaurant with high quality food. When you walk in it looks like a cafe, but the service is great and the food is even better. The salsa is really good. Small family-run restaurant serving up some good Mexican food. Had tacos for dinner, shrimp and fish, hubby had carnitas and pollo. Their chilé de Arbol salsa is SPICY. Went back for breakfast, one of the few places in Cambria open at 7:00am. Their chorizo burrito got me through breakfast, I later shared my leftovers with the hubby for lunch. My food looked nothing like the pictures here on Yelp. Got the chicken enchiladas and Chile rellanos combo plates. All dishes came out plain with no garnish. The beans and rice were very small portions and skimpy. No lettuce or pico de gallo on the plate. It was very plain and gross. Will not come back. Food is pretty good the prep time is ling. Call in your order or be prepared to take a seat on one the stools out front,...and bring a book. The good is generally good but not special. Ordered a chicken burrito which was Tasteless and boring. My partner ordered supreme burrito , his only comment was -it's filling- not terrible but not great. We ordered a carne asada taco, an al pastor taco, guacamole, and a supreme burrito. The service was excellent. Pricing is reasonable. The salsa they serve with the chips isn't spicy, they do have an excellent habanero salsa that you need to ask for. read more

Nice little Mexican Restaurant in Cambria. I had heard about the breakfast burritos and went to try one. Alas I saw Chili Verde and had to go with that. The Chili Verde supreme burrito has all the usual goodies I have come to expect in a burrito and I will say the nice chunks if pork were cooked just right. I personally will need a bit more heat next time, I will jut have to ask. I got mine to go so I could sit by the beach and enjoy the lovely sunny day and the burrito made it a special trip to Cambria. The burrito was huge and even came with chips and salsa. I like that and will be back to test out the restaurant side. Only 4 tables in the place,. We were excited to find a Mexican restaurant in this quaint town that had a great Yelp reviews and low advertised prices. We researched on yelp and then went to their online menu to see what they had to offer. Fajitas for $11.75!! Sign me up! We waited for our food, standing room only because there are only 4 tables, but it smelled good so we did not mind. They have a system where they make the food and you pay after it is made and ready to go, so when it came time to pay he told us our total was $15.05 with tax. We told him we had come across town, passing several other mexican restaraunts to eat at his, could he honor the price that was advertised online? He said no and told us we could pay the price or not. We politely said no thank you and walked out the door. We had the money but it was the point that they advertised one thing and charged another, and we're rude about it to boot. About 5 seconds after walking out the door the guy comes out and yells at us, we turn around thinking he was going to honor the price and he starts cussing and screaming in a rage at us and saying really innopropriate things... I hate when I walk into a restaurant and I don't know what to do. My family and I were visiting Cambria and Hearst Castle and decided to stop here for food before our drive back to the bay area. Parked on the street outside, walked up to see a bunch of people standing around outside and like 5 others standing around inside. There are only 4 booths inside! So this place is definitely more for eating out and ordering to go. I suppose all these people standing around are waiting for seats? The inside is super small... I came with a party of 5... so standing around inside along with everyone else was super akward. The server's were wandering in and out of people to bring food out. Anywhere I stood was in the way of someone. I overheard people arguing for a table. People were even cleaning up after others that left so they could sit down at the recently opened up tables. We ordered to go because it was ridiculous inside. I understand that it's a Saturday night, but some organization or something is needed! After waiting for what seemed like a long time, a table cleared so we actually ended up eating inside. I ordered the butternut squash enchiladas... I didn't really like them. It seemed to have an overwhelming amount of spices... I think cumin or nutmeg is what I was tasting. I'm not sure, but wasn't my cup of tea. This is a little gem in Cambria. The ingredients are super fresh and the portions are extremely generous. I had to try the menudo, being that it was Saturday and it was the best I've ever had. I paired it with a shrimp taco and man oh man was I in Mexican food heaven. My husband was pleased with his tostada and especially the chips and salsa. Too many times Mexican restaurants serve chips that seem like their out of a bag from the corner AM PM, but these chips tasted like they were just cooked! Great affordable place to eat. Food was a much higher quality than what I had expected. We had the squash enchiladas and they were fantastic. Easy Street parking for lunch time. The complimentary chips and home made salsa were out of this world. Staff was SO FRIENDLY and helped me with our baby. I thought this place was great! Chips and salsa came before we ordered anything. The salsa was AMAZING!! The portions are HUGE and the Mexican food is very authentic. I had the carne asada tostada supreme which was around $8-9. It was the biggest tostada I've ever seen!! Very authentic with rice, beans, carne asada, lettuce, black olives, tomatos, guacamole, sour cream, cheese all in a tostada shell which seemed really fresh. As everyone mentioned, they do serve beer which I didn't drink. The service was great too. The waiter checked up on us every once in awhile and made sure our cups were refilled or if we needed anything else such as more salsa or whatever. Great place! read more

Medusa's is a great choice for a quick and tasty lunch in a town rather packed with pricey options. We stopped here for an early lunch on a Friday afternoon, based on great Yelp reviews and because we wanted something hearty, tasty and affordable to help soak up the wine tastings of the day. :) Street parking was no problem, and we were seated right away in the bright cozy restaurant. I went for a taco meal, BF went for enchiladas. They have a very cool chalk menu above the open-air kitchen along with the hand menus, so they're very accommodating to dining in and takeout. Tacos, rice and beans were tasty, BF was pleased with his food, and the pre-meal chips and salsa tasted very fresh and authentic. Not bad for a little coastal town! We weren't rushed at all but were still in and out within 30 minutes. So thank you Medusa's for a tasty and well-priced meal and for friendly service, you'll see us again! read more

As some of the other reviews mention, this is a real deal Mexican cafe. We were born and raised in SoCal and spent a lot of time in Mexico. So, we know the difference between a Mexican American restaurant with "combo" meals and a place where Mexican want to find home style food. This place is the later. This place has really fresh Mexican food! Medusa is a great place to grab a cheap bite in Cambria. My rating is definitely closer to 3.5 stars, but the great service brings it up to a 4. I shared two dishes: - The Tostada was delicious! I got the regular with carnitas. Really fresh vegetables, great salsa, crisp shell, and yummy carnitas. Fab ratio too! I would definitely get this again. - The Tamales were just alright. The cornmeal ratio was a bit too high. I ended up taking just a few bites. This dish also comes with rice and beans. I'm not sure why, but the beans tasted really really good. And I don't even like beans! DO NOT come here if you're looking for something quick to eat. I waited over 30mins for my food. And so did the people ordering take out! However, the server was sooo nice she made it hard for anyone to get annoyed. Really sweet and apologetic! We were driving back to San Diego on the 1 and looking for something that would be easy to eat on the road but filling. So we yelped and found Medusa's. I was in the mood for a carne asada burrito but after seeing the size of the supreme I decided it was best to share with the hubby, who was ordering a carnita's burrito. The burrito was really good and huge! The meat was very flavorful and all the ingredients worked very well together. For about $7 dollars you can't beat the price! Plus they throw in a bag of tortilla chips to scoop up everything that inevitably falls out of the burrito. They have a regular size and a supreme. But the regular doesn't come with guacamole. I believe it has rice, beans, cheese, salsa and a meat choice. The supreme has all of that and more, including the guacamole. I would definitely recommend trying Medusa's if you are in the area. read more

Being fron San diego, the home of the taco shop, I was a bit wary of this place. shame on me, this place came through. 4 tourists hungry from the awesome trip down the coast through big sur were very satisfied with this pit stop. A moody little diner/bar at the front and a cheerful, shady deck in the back. Didn't really try the food, but thhe salsa was hot sassy and the beer was cold and refreshing - this was a pleasant way to spend a few hours on a hot Saturday afternoon. Besides, there is really not that much to DO on a Saturday afternoon in Cambria. If you're "lucky", you may, as we did, get hit on by a couple of thirty something swingers who want to take you back to their rental. I had the shrimp tacos which were good and full of flavor, but the corn tortillas tasted a little under cooked, and my husband had a torta with pastor meat.
