Meditation is for everyone. I believe this to be true -- and I congratulate the Meditation Bar for creating a wonderful place for this. I've been exploring meditation for a while now, at home, on my own... but, what I really wanted was a place to go to meditate with others -- somewhere comfortable and inviting, welcoming to everyone. The Meditation Bar is just that. What's particularly cool is... you don't have to know anything about "how to meditate" to experience what they have to offer. Truth is, it's very simple -- just some quiet time, following a guided visualization, letting go of all those "mind monkey" worries, in the presence of others who want to do the same. Ahhh... "With thoughts clear, sitting silently, wander into the center of the circle and wonder." ~ Cultivating the Empty Field: The Silent Illumination of Zen Master Hongzhi

This is the first room you see as you walk in the from door.

I visited the Meditation Bar while I was in town for a work trip. My meditation bar experience was incredibly relaxing and educational. Everything from the friendly greeting to the beautiful lighting in the meditation room was perfectly enjoyable. I highly recommend you experience it for yourself. I can't wait to visit again!

    Beautiful waiting area.

Once inside easy layout and they provide lockers with keys for your belongings. The session was in the Himalayan salt room and there were chairs set up for participants. The chairs did lie back so you could feel weightless during the session. There were six of us for the session and Sandy was great. She gave a great overview of what would happen and got started. The only downside was the person next to me was breathing heavy, got up and left the room and kept drinking water which interrupted the full experience of the meditative state. Right when I'd be fully relaxed, they would make some noice se and pull me out. So he aware you may not have a fully immersed experience due to other peeps. I would love to do an individual session however she closed her studio. So I'll keep hunting. Once the session was done, you can see the salt on your clothes - I was wearing black and had a light dusting on - easily wipe away and go about your day.

For those with sinus/allergy issues it is extremely effective. I've been to several of these across the country. Let me start by saying this is a beautiful and extremely relaxing salt room. The "shooting stars" and calming music really add to the 45 minute experience. I was expecting a little more comfort based on the ones I've been to before and the price. A zero gravity lawn chair and having to pay extra for a blanket was a bit unexpected. It won't deter me from returning, but do wish it was a bit more spa like.

I am a fan of True Rest floats. The float experience is absolutely wonderful in terms of stress…read morereduction and a general feeling of calm well-being, and the atmosphere at True Rest, both before, and after your float, enhances that feeling. In my recent visit, I tried their Vitality Suite, which consists of a combo of infrared sauna, red light therapy, and a cold plunge. The attendant was very nice as she described the process. Unlike the float, which has an automatic timer built in, the vitality suite experience is one in which you are expected, or at least encouraged, to watch the clock. I wondered whether 45 minutes might actually be too long, but it was not. Not at all, actually. By the time I showered, got heated up in the sauna, and got myself into the cold plunge, which is very, very cold, the clock said I was 36 minutes into my 45! Since I had seen no other customers, I didn't think anyone would be pounding on the door, but still, I felt constrained and not relaxed at having to watch the clock. I tried the red light therapy, but felt no sense that it was doing anything for me. Maybe my cells were regenerating without my knowledge. So back into the sauna, then back into the cold plunge, and by then I was well over my time. When I was showered and dressed, I saw the attendant had just come to check on me, but I didn't really feel any time pressure, except what was self-imposed. But that still made the experience less relaxing than it should've been. The elegant one-person sauna was nicer than the one I use at my gym, and the cold plunge was much colder, which was bracing. But overall, I was not especially impressed with the vitality suite since it is pretty much what I already do at my gym. I would come back and pay the pricey price for floats at True Rest, but the vitality suite experience did not work for me.

The float itself was good, a strange sensation, but I can see why people love it (especially after a few times to get used to it). My biggest problem was that the light switch inside my pod didn't work, and that triggered a little bit of my panic reflex. I ended up cracking the pod open a couple times to calm myself down, and that detracted from the experience.

I started my morning as usual -- a workout followed by time in the steam room. While walking from the bathroom area, I accidentally placed my jacket on a chair without realizing it was near someone else's belongings. The individual began shouting profanity at me from across the pool/hot tub area. I immediately apologized multiple times, but the yelling only escalated. Thinking he might not have heard my apology clearly, I walked closer to make myself understood. Instead, he moved toward me with his hands up in a fighting stance, even though I was apologizing repeatedly. Feeling unsafe, I backed away to the locker room and called my wife so we could leave immediately. At the front desk, things escalated again. The same individual followed me, caused a loud scene, and then walked toward both me and my wife with his hands still raised as if preparing to fight while shouting at us. This was extremely frightening. The staff stepped up to the counter, but no one said anything or intervened, which made the situation feel completely uncontained. What concerns me most is that management has not contacted me at all about this incident, despite how serious and disturbing it was. Over the past year, I've also noticed an increasing number of individuals who appear to be using this facility as a place to linger rather than to work out. This location seems to be struggling with how to manage that, and it has led to multiple uncomfortable or unsafe encounters -- including this one. What makes this even more disappointing is that I had a very similar experience at another 24 Hour Fitness location in Austin last year. Between both incidents, it feels like member safety and conflict management are not being handled consistently across their facilities. Between this incident, the declining cleanliness (including mold upstairs), and the overall drop in atmosphere, it's disappointing to see how far this gym has gone downhill. This used to be a peaceful place for me to work out, pray, and meditate -- but I no longer feel safe returning.
