The Texas Yoga Retreat is a few days of exhaling. If you are someone who has fantasies about…read moreslowing down for a few days, you'll want to sign up for this retreat. Not only do you get exposure to some of the greatest yoga teachers (as I learned) but you get a chance to understand the benefits of meditation as well as being in tune with your body. I had the pleasure of knowing the people behind Texas Yoga Retreat and doing some media work on their behalf. That said, this review is the truth as I know it. The wiz behind the curtain matters when it comes to most ventures and this is a positive thing for the Texas Yoga Retreat. The people behind the retreat are in touch with their mission as well as esteemed by their community for the work they do. (I sound like I'm writing for them right now but my impression of them is that high). I highly recommend this retreat to everyone - men and women, yoga folks or not. As someone who does yoga on a whim, I was a little nervous about attending a retreat since I hadn't experienced any formal training. I was pleased to find out that the experience was more than comfortable. The retreat draws people from all over the world - with varied levels of experience in yoga. As I mentioned, even novices can attend this retreat but the same is true of expert yoga enthusiasts and instructors. In fact, I met a lot of instructors during the retreat I attended. It probably helps that the coordinators of this retreat are the owners of Texas Yoga, which is a renowned yoga certification program, so they do a good job of providing instructors and topics that benefit people at different levels of expertise. Don't expect to just be on a yoga mat the whole time - or even most of the time. While there, you get options of which classes you wish to attend so you have a lot of say over the experience. Some classes focus on technique while others provide overall understanding. I was able to finally take a class on Ayurveda which was something I was very interested in learning about. I also had some amazing yoga classes. The food is good but definitely healthy - which is a nice compliment to the experience. There's a wonderful table behind the eatery that faces out to a field. I highly recommend you have your meal out there. It's a great place to zone out if you want to process the experience or bring your new yoga friends and just enjoy the scenery. Speaking of scenery, Barsana Dham is Austin's first Hindu temple but this event is not affiliated with a religion. It's a very beautiful setting for the retreat. In addition to enjoying the classes, people and healthy food, you can tour the grounds which are just gorgeous. It's highly recommended you stay on campus for the full experience, including get togethers at night. I opted to drive in each day so I can't speak to staying there but I hear it's a good experience that allowed people to connect with other retreat goers. To sum it up for you: this retreat was so amazing it made me think about getting certified one day. We'll see what happens with that but one thing is for sure - Texas Yoga Retreat is an A+ experience.

Where else could I have met Rama Vernon, a founder of Yoga Journal and the Yoga Alliance? My most amazing moment of the retreat was when she looked me in the eyes and affirmed to me that I am yoga... There were so many other teachers that made my experience complete. These yogis don't put themselves on pedestals and hide behind microphones. They are accessible and eat their lunches with the rest of us. We really are one. If you're a teacher and interested in continuing education, this high caliber trainings offered here will not disappoint. From Ayurveda to yoga therapy, there are highly skilled professionals that can enhance your existing knowledge. The website at www.texasyogaretreat.com lists the classes and instructors in detail. Not a teacher? Not skinny and flexible? There were all kinds of people at the retreat. If you want to attend, then it's for you. I didn't know what it would be like to study on the grounds of an ashram, but it was like being at a really peaceful hotel where everyone dresses very moderately. The devotees who live on the property are very kind and smile when they see you. The food that they prepare for our meals is amazingly good!! Thank you to the staff who pulled this retreat together, from the devotees to Charles and Ellen. You make a difference in a profound way to many people, including me.

I have been going for a little over a month now, and I am very impressed. It was pretty difficult to find a place that was close to me (Cedar Park) that instructed Tai Chi, I called about 4 different places (all further than 10 miles away from me, mostly in Round Rock and Pflugerville) before I found North Austin Tai Chi. Not only is Kade a fantastic instructor, this is one of the least expensive of places I found. it costs about $10 a lesson depending on which plan you want to work with, which is about $2 less expensive than the best packages at some other places .... at first I was a little sceptical but it turns out it is because he doesn't have the overhead of owning a place (he rents/leases part of the Senior Center on Duval) If anyone is interested in Tai Chi, without hesitation I would recommend Kade, and North Austin Tai Chi .... he has an exceptional style of instruction.

With Taichi you will learn better balance, flexibility, not to mention the mental relaxation. Kade radiates calm and makes the environment very understanding of any limitations you may have. Each person is taught in the best way for them, with gentle guidance to realize your own mistakes to correct them. Tai chi should be used everyday by everyone!

After seeing the remarkable changes in coworkers around me, I finally got on the wait list and man am I grateful that I did. Lyndsay has transformed my mind, body, and soul. The best part, this is not your average Acupuncture practice, where someone comes in, puts a bunch of needles in you and leaves then comes back 30 min later and you're done. I've been to many of those practices around town, with ZERO results. Lyndsay starts each session by understanding what is going on with you not only physically, but emotionally. She is with you the entire treatment, reading pulses to understand where blockages are formed and then works to open them up. Every single detail is thought through and explained. From the first treatment till a year and a half later, I walk out feeling like a new human. My stress levels, on average, are through the roof, my shoulder, back, hip pain constant, hot flashes, psoriasis, you name it, all manageable now thanks to her and this practice. There is no way to vocalize the feeling you get after treatment, it's like a rebirth, I kid you not...you walk out feeling superhuman. If you are looking for someone to help all things you, this is the place. Five Element Austin transformers mind, body, and souls. You will NOT be disappointed.

Beverly is an…read moreextremely caring and confident practitioner and does a great job of asking questions and assessing what your needs may be, as well as making you feel comfortable. Before our session, I was feeling very mentally off, energetically blocked, and creatively stagnant. I left the first session walking on air, feeling clearer and more rooted in my body than I have in a long time. The effects have been profound and empowering and have continued to last, especially after our follow-up session. If you have never done 5 Element Acupuncture, it is an entirely different experience. I am sold!! Especially for any sort of emotional, energetic, or creative blockages or imbalance. This is your place, Beverly is definitely your gal!!
