Divine intervention brought me to Chris. I love, love, love what this man has done for me and my body. He is truly a healer. After throwing out my back repeatedly this year, (my S.I. joint to be more specific), my body had gotten to the point that each "flare-up' was worse than the one before it, until I found my the latest "flare-up" brought me to the point of tears, where I was only being comfortable laying on my stomach. This really impacted my ability to work (a desk-job), get to work, and just be, in my life. I was on the hunt for a rolfer after knee surgery (ACL) and Chris was recommended to me through a friend. His friendly, down-to-earth demeanor was what I expected from a body work professional in SF but eight sessions later not only are we good friends, but I'm a total convert to his form of "unconventional medicine". I was in a horrible car accident that the Police, Fire Fighters, and EMT's expected me to be dead or with major injuries. I was hit by a drunk driver. Anyways after the emergency room and all the tests, I could not lift up my right arm/shoulder up and point my hands to the sky. Chris was recommended by an acupuncturist I visited for shoulder and IT-band pain. The pain is chronic and I've been going to a chiropractor for some time now with slight and sometime temporary relief. Chris listens, evaluates, recommends and executes. I've gone to see him for 3 sessions now and have the ability to jog, bike, do squats and shoulder press without the stabbing pain I usually feel during and after workouts. After a car accident left me suffering with a pinched nerve for almost a year, I decided to contact Chris through a friend's suggestion. I went to see Chris another two times, this time to work on right leg tightness, also to continue improving shoulder and neck. Remember that I had already regained function in my right shoulders after the initial sessions. Chris worked on the leg, gave additional pointers on my walk, how to stretch neck, how to sit (which he thought affected my leg muscles or lack of strength). Like many people ,with old and new aches and pains, I tried all kink of treatments (physical therapy, acupuncture, acupressure, injections) without the results I was hoping. I've known Chris for a few years and was a bit apprehensive about rolfing at the onset. However, after studying regenerative/sustainable studies and since had gotten curious about traditional and preventative medicine. I played football for four years in high school and trained for marathons after while I was in the army from which I sustained injuries to my knees. Also, from working in the flea market at a young age I've had back pain as well. I went to him to see if he could me with any of these injuries and instead he was able to help with a lot more. For my knee injuries, he was able to see that part of why I got injured in the first place was the way I ran (pigeon toed running) where the toes and feet face inward while running. In sprints and sports that need fast running, this is a plus but in marathon running, this can have negative effects that especially hurts the joints. As such, Chris was able to show me an exercise that helps correct that. Furthermore, he also showed me an exercise that helped in correcting my posture because my back pain came out of bad technique in lifting and posture. As a consequence of doing the back exercise, my breathing actually got better too. I've had a deviated septum corrected twice by surgery and the breathing I am able to do for a few hours after the exercise has been better than anything the surgeries were able to correct. I would highly recommend Chris but be warned, he wants to work with people that want to work on themselves to fix the problems they may have and isn't interested in just giving you a massage or a few exercises. I have fibromyalgia, and I sometimes cannot go through with treatments, but Chris was very sensitive to my pain level. I could actually feel my balance was improved after just one session! I have been seeing Chris for about 3-4 mo now for a rather involved shoulder accident (got run over) and a severed axcillary nerve requiring a nerve transfer surgery. Long story short, it is partially recovered (after 5 yrs of therapy) but I was plateaued and don't have full recovery and was frustrated by it. Chris has completely opened my eyes to how my body is treating my disability, and is teaching me to re-train how my body, mind, nervous, skeletal and musculatory systems to no longer think it is injured, so that I can continue progress. I found Chris' business Card in a nutrition store back in the late spring. I work out three - four times a week, and started Cross Fit training last year as well. I felt like I needed body work that would reach deeper into my core and structure, than just deep tissue masage. I wanted something that would create a better total body tune up. I read the good Yelp reviews on Chris and decided to give it a try. I'm been suffering from Right shoulder pain that initially started from a bad snowboarding spill and eventually became worse due to strains working out and doing martial arts. I've had MRI's & been to orthopedics, a couple of chiropractor and physical therapist but I didn't get the results I was looking for. My shoulder had really started acting up again when I decided to come in to see Chris, and after an introductory visit I committed to the Rolfing program. Personally, I'm not 100% sure whether I needed the 10 session program for my alignment vs spot treatment, but I'm not worried about. I'm glad to have met Chris and always looked forward the informative sessions. Chris is a healer and will do research between sessions if he feels he doesn't have the complete answer. In the next session, he remembers exactly where we were at the previous treatment and can tell what progress was made and continues in an organized fashion. As many other patients have already commented, he looks at you and tries to see where the problem comes from and what other areas are being compromised due to the injury.
