Mediacom losing customers is fair and normal! It keeps raising pricing every year with various reasons to loyal customers, I have been with it for 13 years but every year had to call many times to fight over increase. Its loyal department became more and more bureaucratic without help at all nowdays. Finally I had to leave and joined T-mobile which is great now both price and service, guarantee no price change for 5 years at least. Great, I finally left this greedy company. It now keeps sending all fancy flyers to past customers like me to return - no way, it's only reminding all pains working with them year over year! read more

Mediacom Cedar Rapids was doing some work on the box on my street today, I saw them as the box is located right in front on my house and I work from home. My internet stopped working soon after I saw them there. They left and it still didn't work. Tried calling our local office and the phone number listed is no longer in service. Nice. After talking to the robot to try and reset everything, it still wasn't working. Finally got in touch with a person from the main customer service line, who told me they were doing work for a different customer and ours must have been affected by accident. He told me they should be able to send someone back around by the end of the day. It's the end of the day (Friday) and no one has come, internet still doesn't work. Will now have to go all weekend without internet, due to a mistake on their end that they should have prioritized fixing immediately. We pay a very pretty penny for their service, as it's the only option for us at the time we installed. This is super upsetting and I would advise anyone against Mediacom if they have another option. read more

Now they are saying I have yet to return a tivo box from 2017. 8 years later they are expecting me to remember when and where I returned it because they have nothing that says I did. Mediacom has excellent internet service where fiber is available. The gigabit service is nice. The only issue with Mediacom is they will give deals that last a year. When that deal ends, the price jumps substantially. So you have to call and ask for better prices when the price gets jacked up. The phone app is a must have. When the internet goes out, the phone app allows having Mediacom test to see if they communicate with the modem which helps in troubleshooting. More times than not when internet goes out, restarting the modem fixes the issue. I haven't had outages very often. I'd give them 5 stars if they kept the price low without having to call yearly. read more

Quality, value, and service are poor for not only the cost, but for what is promised and actually received. With Mediacom the list for how they treat their new and long term customers like myself with the ongoing increases in cost is insane! We have been with Mediacom for 12 plus years; in that time they have only increased the price while stating that they're giving us better services (internet). There's never been any noticeable changes (improvements) in our internet. In fact things have got worse. We were able to improve some things by getting our own modem. Plus eliminated a charge of $10-15 each month for their outdated ones. Fast forward today Mediacoms newest and greatest; is they have updated all their customers regardless if they wanted this amount of Internet 'up to' 1 Gig.(keep in mind the up to in quotes means no guarantee of that) For a $129.99 every month. Just prior to this change in their plan I was able to get an $20 month off loyalty discount for the year. So this takes me down to $109.99. I would like to show you what my actual speeds are, but today is the 7th day in the last 30 that we have had no internet service at all. According to Mediacom they give us notice of these issues and we have the ability to find the problem on their app. This is sometimes true and sometimes they give proper updates. Also, sometimes you are able to enter you number to receive text updates. Considering they are an internet company all these things they say they have should be working and user friendly, they are not. At the high cost of their internet I think it should be considered that with such frequent internet outages and losses to customers they should be giving credit to customers bills. Only when pointed out to them that there's been 7 days of no internet in the last thirty did their customer service say they could give a credit? Asking if I'd want that. I said this should be automatically given to their customers having to deal with this kind of situation. I doubt I will see a credit on my bill next month for the loss of seven days. Certainly not the 3000 plus customers who keep having issues due to whatever the excuse maybe this time. read more

Another scathing review of this terrible company. My spouse and I work from home, and our internet randomly went out. When we called them, they blamed our Motorola router that we own, we don't rent from them. They said it would take over a week for a technician to come out, so we had no choice but to spend over $200 on their top-rated router. After setting it up, they claimed our brand-new router was also the problem. The worst part was the customer service representative, a man, who was incredibly sexist. He kept cutting me off whenever I tried to speak, but when my husband took over, there were no issues. We contacted Mi-Fiber the next day, and they sent a technician the same day and we couldn't be happier. Now, Mediacom is demanding that I return my own two routers to them! Absolutely dreadful company with piss poor customer service! I've been at my current residence for almost 2 yrs now. Every 3 to 4 months our cable and internet mysteriously go out. When we try to call for help we get stuck in automated computer phone operation hell. It takes 2 hours to clear all the AI nonsense to talk to a human.....who is in a call center in a different state and usually different part of the country. Then it's a miracle if this person speaks English! Finally get it through their thick skulls that my service is out. First available appointment for a tech to take a look...3 months out!@#$%&!! I mention I'll just cancel my service and call their competitor......now I can get an appointment in 2 days. The tech will come in 2 days and do a bandaid repair. We'll start this cycle again in 3 months. They have been here 6 times in a yr and a half....and nobody keeps my service working longer than 3 months.....and yes my bill is always paid on time for you wise asses reading this! You know this company was good at first but the last few months they really are trying to rip me off. I had an issue with my hub because I have a camera through them. Since I live in a apartment I was told by 2 reps a tech couldn't come out to look at it, the third one finally said a tech can look at it but they can't mount anything, I said that's fine. What's crazy is this tech comes out to look at his phone then ask for mine and said oh it looks fine, was here less then 5 mins and say in the parking lot for 40 mins. What the actual heck. Then I'm being charged a fee for this man to walk in to my living room then walk out?!?!? And I'm told I still have to pay the bill but I'll get a credit for next month, that's the biggest bullshit ever. The credit was only $34 they charged me $50 some for this big ass man to walk. I really want to cancel my service because I keep getting these rude customer service reps that won't let me explain anything or they blame me and say well if this wasn't properly connected or if you aren't reconnecting it then that's why. Like what?!?!? I'm a stay at home mom and I have budget for the bills and this bill only change with the Ach program was over but I've been with them for over 2 years now and have a $30 discount so my bill should be almost $90. It's disappointing, no matter when I call in I always get a rude rep and it is not making me want to stay anymore. All I'm asking is to fix my bill, because I'm not paying it till it's fixed. Service has been awful for more than 4 months ( since a December storm). Constant signal drops. High speed w 2 EeroPlus 6. Just paid $504 for electrician to hardwire PC, no change! I'm getting no where, they keep repeating same service over & over. Day 20 of Mediacom internet outage. They made an appointment to come out Aug 25th and never showed up. No call, no nothing. Then our appointment for Sept 10th was canceled and no new date or time was given. My son starts online learning tomorrow but will have to miss his classes until Mediacon can get their act together. Very frustrating because all they know is how many customers are still without but can't supply any info on when they will be in our area working. It has been 20 DAYS and we have not seen a single crew in our NW side neighborhood. I would give them zero stars if I could. Never had problems with Mediacom for 4 years. Decided to go for gigabyte plan for top speed. Sure it's fast, but it takes about 30 secs to reach top speeds. So now when I open a webpage or click on a link I have to wait for the page to download rather than the instant download I was expecting. When you call for customer service, they always make you fix it yourself and if you get an "expert" to come and try to fix it they will charge you. Right now my speeds are running at no more than 500 mb/s. My speeds were faster on the 500 mb plan. read more

In the 1.5+ decade I have had to be their customer I learned early on (from problems) that I was better off buying my own modem for reliability. In recent years they have annually bumped my cost up $5 every year. I had in those years called to see if I could be on lowest tier, and told I was. BUT, I found out from a former employee recently that I was not, and with two emails from them on bragging they gave me faster upload (and deciding that was worth another $fiver from me) I called to say it was something I did not need (I just google and email) and wanted that lowest tier. I got it, but then their system automatically assumes I rent their modem and bills $13 plus a partial of $4.19, so I had to call today and (hopefully) established that I own my modem. Instead of being able to take that off this bill cycle I have to wait until the next one. I will have to assume that I will be calling again to get corrections. Reading recent reviews do not give me confidence. Maybe I should switch to T-Mobile's internet offering, as our area (large city) has not had competitive services for years, and I am willing to support competition. read more

This is the second time I've been without internet for days at a time in 6 months my first experience was on a holiday weekend which no one working was without internet for 4 days and now since Tuesday 7/18/2017 each time they send out a tech to look at my equipment just to go out to their box and tell me its their line connection each time they need to send out the repair team in which they have 72hr window to get it repaired just ridiculous we other cable internet providers in Iowa to compete can't wait for google to get here.I live Mount Vernon Iowa. read more

When I got their service they tried to charge me for installation when it was a transfer and I was advised it wouldn't be needed. it took them forever to get out there, and they LIED about their prices. I specifically asked if the price I was paying is what it would stay at, since I didn't want my bill to go up 20-30 bucks a month randomly. when I called to tell them about this, and I spoke to a manger, I was told there was nothing they could do. Worst cable company ever. Customer service is awful. If you need help you first have to deal with their automated phone system. Then after about an hour you 'may' eventually get to speak to a human who will then do everything that the automated phone system did. Then after an hour of that -if you are lucky - you might get an appointment for a few weeks out. They may or may not show up during their 4 hour window. They advertise this amazing internet speed so I upgraded for another $25 a month and I can barely watch a show on Netflix without constant buffering.
