Mediacom is junk. I paid for Internet download speeds of "up to" 100 Mbps. On average I would get 30 Mbps and that's being generous if I wasn't having to constantly unplug/re-plug in my router/wifi. I changed out 3 routers. Reran coax from pole to house. Then from house to router. So ALL new cable was ran. Later bought a new house in a development that is only 10 years old. Same problem with download speed. Inconsistent, slow and have to wait on average 10 days for a serviceman. Unacceptable. Switched to I'mon for a provider to give them a try. With I'mon I am paying for 50 Mbps download speed and averaging 70. And to top it off there is no download data limit cap and I'm paying about $15 less. I was with mediacom for about 5 years because in the previous house I had no other options for a provider. So glad when I moved and other options opened up I tried I'mon, I no longer have YouTube where the sound cuts out, blurry Amazon Prime, buffering Netflix, and with the few dollars I saved I upgraded Netflix to 4K and even that doesn't buffer and is quick to play. All while using the same cable based Internet. Apples to apples. MediaCom, you are a joke. In my opinion the only reason you are even able to continue doing business in this town is because you have one thing up your sleeves, and that's the ability to provide subpar services where other providers are not yet able to reach. OMG!!!!!!! I had Mediacom for almost 4 yrs, and they never failed to disappoint me. They could have cared less if I had an issue with their service. Calling "customer service" was similar to calling my ex-wife. I asked a rep one time what it would take to become a "preferred customer". She said 'that's not my department'. NEVER EVER sign up for Mediacom! Ever! They never gave a sh*t about my 'customer experience'. They JUST DON'T CARE! I have DirecTV now. Way better service, better picture. Better TV. This place is a disaster. They won't let me into my account even though I'm FULL AUTHORIZED on the account. All I wanted for know was when my bill was due, yet, that seemed like some sort of a security issue. They wanted me to tell them my girlfriends social security number, but failed to have mine on file so I could recite mine. Called to install a Business telephone. Waited, waited and waited. They sent a 'locator' out who came right during my business lunch hour. He said he was just there to look. I said, "OK FINE, WHEN IS MY PHONE going to be hooked up?!" He said, "I don't know". I called into the office. They said, "I don't know." We'll have to schedule an installer. I waited and waited. Finally I called and they said, "We don't know when." GOOD-BYE MEDIACOM. I went to USCellular where we have business cellphones. Got an internet telephone. Hooked up and running smoothly in less than 4 hours. Done. Bam. Mediacom is not the place to go for business telephone service. THEN some Rep from Mediacom calls with a hour speech of how sorry he is. I don't need your drama Mediacom. Then he shows up at our business, trying to talk us into keeping the install schedule. Original appointment on a Friday, tech claimed we needed a maintenance call before she could do anything. Maintenance came on Saturday and said nothing was wrong and wondered why she hadn't at least run the line to the house. She said she was coming back on Sunday to get us hooked up. On Sunday, she called and said she would be there in a half an hour, but never showed. Corporate office said they can't get us in until Wednesday now. Horrible experience and customer service. Two wasted days of our time, and my husband works from home in IT, so he had to use three vacation days because of their incompetence. read more

I'm stuck using this terrible company for cable because my apartment building forces us to use them. They are the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. They did not send me a bill in November. At the end of December they turned my service off with no warning because they said I was behind on my bill. I gathered all the bills I had and proved to them that by my records I was all square. But they kept up the front that I was behind on my bill and refused to re start my service. So when I finally got a bill I paid the amount I was supposedly behind and also paid my regular bill. They turned my service back on and guess what.....just got my new bill and I'm now a month ahead on my payments! I hate being held accountable for their incompetence! If you ever need maintenance on your equipment get ready for a hassle as well. They will schedule an appointment but it'll be 3 or 4 months out. My issue was my modem died and since it was their equipment I wanted it replaced. After bitching and bitching I finally got a tech sent to inspect it to make sure I wasn't an idiot. The tech looked at the hook ups, looked at my lines, looked at the building hook up, and said I have no idea why you don't have a signal..........I smacked my forehead and said really? My modem is dead did you look at that? The tech just looked at me and said that can't be it.......then he looked at it and said what do you know, your modem isn't working....!!! read more

I waited 39 days for the repair of the sevice line to my home. This was because of the derecio but they use contractors and they pick and chose when they work and what jobs they want. 3 times I waited all day as I had a repairman slated to fix my cable and 3 times they never showed up. I finaly got it fixed as my neighbor had a repair slated that 39th day and we are on the same line. Have you ever been without internet, phone, and TV for over a month? People could not reach me, and insurance adjusters were trying to contact me, but they did not have my cell number. Have you ever waited for 12 hours for a confirmed appointment and the person never calls my cell, or shows up? They have the worst customer service , service is too good to call it, They have weeks long waits for simple repairs as they use private contractors. They should lose their franchise rights for the lack of any service in the best cases. And they were woefully lacking in this storm disaster. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The customer service is terrible. The online interface for account settings requires you to jump through a million hoops and when you try to access "customer support", it is just a line of people who each give you one option to try and then tell you, "That is our only option." Basically telling the customer that you will take the minimal help and like it. Their monopoly of internet options suits them well because customers are bound to accept the completely one sided relationship. read more

Ever since my wife "Upgraded" our internet to 100MB, I have had nothing but issues. On top of this, Mediacom has CHANGED my wifi, which I own, it is not a rental. Removed my parental settings so now my 11 year old is staying up all night watching youtube instead of sleeping. I can no longer log into my wifi. I called Mediacom and they told me to use the wifi on THIER router... probably because they charge more for this. I asked them to shut down the WIFI on their router and that I use my own, and they told me they can't because my TIVO needs it. My TIVO is hard wired to the internet and has no need for WIFI. The fact that Mediacom is the ONLY high speed internet in my area, they do what they want and treat customers like crap. My kids live 3 doors down and have the same issue. read more

Have been without cable for almost 2 weeks. Originally I was without cable, internet and phone for 5 days....and they credited me a whole 22 dollars. I was told it was a line issue and someone would get it taken care of. No one folliwed up to make sure service had been restored. Well, my tv wasnt showing any picture so I thought perhaps my tv had died during the 5 days. Got a different tv and still no cable. Called again and was told someone would be out 6 days later. Totall of 12 days without cable and customer service well, all they can say is how sorry they are and I will be credited again once I have service. Too bad it isn't possible to give them 0 stars for customer service. I have had 5 different service calls, 2 by supervisors and have gone 2 months with issues to my phone and internet. I change my entire work schedule to accommodate their 2 hour window and then they call 5 minutes before that time is over and say they are on the way after the time. This happens all the time. The 2 hour window is a joke. The techs come and can't fix it but guarantee they will and it will be all better in 2 days and it never is. This has happened 5 times!! They have no problem sending the monthly bill for services that don't work. When you call to talk to someone in charge you are rerouted to places not in the United States and they give you the run around and schedule you another 2 hour window. I am beyond frustrated and that takes a lot because I am a very mellow person typically. Could someone please open a service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa that has amazing customer service with internet that actually works. I along with most of the city has been waiting a long time for this to happen. read more
